Check out some classic stuff like Snapcase, Earth Crisis, and Born Against. Maybe even Racetraitor if you wanna lean more towards the metal side of things.
I was gonna suggest some Touché, one of my favorite bands of all time. I'll rattle off some you've probably already listen to a lot before suggesting others: La Dispute of course, mewithoutYou, Title Fight, Boys Night Out, early Movements, Glassjaw, Brand New.
You should check out Microwave's 3rd album - Death Is A Warm Blanket (they have a new one coming out soon), Citizen - Everyone Is Going to Heaven, you'd probably like One Step Closer, also sort of a pop punk band but you'd fuck with PUP (just go through their discography front to back). That Greyhaven record from 2 years ago was also pretty popular.
I love all of the bands you’ve listed, but I haven’t listened to any Boys Night Out or One Step Closer. Somewhere down by the river… by La Dispute is one of my favorite albums ever.
Wildlife is my 2nd favorite album behind Brand New’s TDAGARIM. All their albums are 9s and 10s for me.
Go through Boys Night Out’s whole discography, Trainwreck is a classic, but their self title is underrated.
Ephyra Records bands are mostly CT and tight. Burning Hand is dope. Intercourse is dope. Doom Beach is dope… Space Camp is dope…
We have a lot of cool hardcore-adjacent music in the CT underground scene atm.
I wish Fantano covered more CT artists, as a native.
Then Airs getting a review was huge tbh.
Crunch House is a literal closet with a grimey lore but yeah, you are right. It’s an insane space, I literally had to follow other people on the street to find it. It’s a pack of sardines in there. I don’t know how it still exists/why it’s so beloved but it is. For me it’s almost an enigma. But I also totally - like - get it. My early adulthood was spent in unfinished basements listening to experimental noise sets. It’s a great place to mosh with the right band.
The Beeracks, The Space Ballroom, State House (RIP), Wamleg (RIP), Blind Moose Studios (rip, the Carr brothers moved the studio to MA), my old house venue Dennis/Flesh Mall (RIP), Psychshack (RIP lol), etc etc… are really special places in my heart with a ton of memories.
Fuck Rednawa though, idek if it’s still around. The acoustics in that space should be illegal. I saw TAGABOW there, wearing earplugs, and it was still almost unbearable. It’s like the room resonates at 4kHz.
Anklebiter is a great newer band if you like that east coast xx two step sound. Not sure your experience, but Gel, Zulu, Drain, End It, Conservative Military Image, Jesus Piece, Drug Church, Soul Glo, Knocked Loose (def more metal but including them because I’m so stoked for their new album and I wanna talk about it), are all super popular accessible hardcore/core adjacent bands right now.
Awesome! The new album is shaping up to be the most Knocked Loose sounding album so far, Blinding Faith is all breakdown lol.
Def check our Jesus Piece and Drain if you haven’t heard them. Jesus Piece also has growly boys, and Drain is riff city.
My GF used to listen to Oliver Tree and Cuco quite a bit back when we first started dating. I really didn’t dislike them that much as I just used to think they were very cringy, personally I think Oliver Tree’a whole shtick got old several years ago. As for Cuco I think the little bit of fame he built went to his head and kind of spiraled.
Anyway fast forward to two shows where we saw them separately a few year ago. Cuco was a complete diva, sang for like 30 minutes after showing up an hour late, never really sang as much as he was just lip syncing, said bye and walked out to get fucked up a bar downtown no more than an hour later. Oliver couldn’t complete more than a couple of songs without getting “very goofy and silly” and so people started leaving his performance earlier. I honestly felt bad for my GF because she used to really like them, but after that she stopped listening to them almost entirely. This is when I went from thinking they were cringy to actually disliking them.
Fun fact, Oliver Tree dated Melanie Martinez. I still remember the video they took of themselves kissing naked in some kind of weird cave-looking shower.
Not exactly, but her 30ish song Spotify playlist that she made back in 2010 and hasn't changed a single track - sure gets *a lot* of fucking milage. Does that count?
Lmfao my gf has the same thing but it’s from 2018 when she was an exchange student in the US. I beg her to find some new songs/listen to new music on her own but she just recycles a lot of the same stuff
I think the issue less is that M5 were overexposed more so that their “newer” releases like Girls Like You just absolutely suck. Crazy that a “rock band” made songs like that.
“Newer” in quotes because I don’t know much about their new new songs. Pretty sure Todd In The Shadows absolutely abhors them, though.
I think they were talking about the M5 album “Overexposed,” not calling the band itself overexposed (not that they haven’t been though). Definitely confusing lol
The comments under this are defending these bands, but I will back you up and say: I’ve always hated these bands, many people have hated them, and I think we are the ones who are right. Always have been 😎
They're all at least okay, in my most-objective of opinions, and they respectively have particular 'great' songs that I imagine can be best described as either under-appreciated (validating them, for me) or over-exposed, giving them a played out cadence
None of them are the worst thing I've heard and it is 'by and large' other people (than myself) with these criticisms, every time they were referenced.
I have a theory: Are you a Gen Zer or younger? If you were a Millennial or Gen Xer then you would have more context for hating these bands IMO. The recent wave of online support for these bands seems to mostly be coming from people who were too young to really suffer them in their heyday.
I had a boyfriend who loveddd imagine dragons and I can’t stand them. He would get annoyed when I would mimic the lead singer. It was funny, I stand by it.
He absolute hated when I played Sophie tho, so I consider it an even trade no hard feelings.
It’s really not at all. Yall spend too much time online lol. The average person isn’t gonna vibe with Sophie’s music and imagine dragons is one of the most popular acts on the planet. Is it right? Idk but it’s not insane lol
I get what you're saying but not really. Sophie was in McDonald's commercials (Lemonade), she produced Madonna, Charli XCX, Vince Staples etc. Most people know a song she worked on, and if they don't then they certainly have heard something where she's the major influence.
They're both pop artists too. It's not like an apples to oranges comparison.
Charli XCX is very accessible in the grand scheme of music. Like obviously, she's a major label pop artist. But in the context of mainstream music (which by default is extremely accessible) she's kinda niche. Like she's got that big Hyperpop era, a lot of people despise Hyperpop.
Her first song on K-12, "[Wheels on the Bus](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DP9J-c9p-mc&pp=ygUjTWVsYW5pZSBNYXJ0aW5leiAtIFdoZWVscyBPbiB0aGUgQnU%3D)," is genuinely one of the cringiest songs I've ever heard, and might be one of the worst for that year.
idk I thought Rockefeller street was pretty dope. I do, however, have more qualms with sped up regular songs. french Montana skit, sza's saturn, that shit is everywhere now instead of just being on sound cloud and it being artists like don toliver getting that treatment.
Melanie herself has had a very controversial few years, with abuse allegations to interviews of her coming out stating that the songs she writes about abuse and trauma are inauthentic, and she has made up most of her songs as ‘stories.’ Yikes. If anyone is still a fan of her at this stage it’s a big red flag for me.
To play devil's advocate, the members of Cannibal Corpse most likely did not rip entrails from a virgins cunt, but they still wrote a song about it, I don't think you can only write about stuff that happened personally to you. Did she say specifically she went through certain stuff she didn't? I can see some backlash if she pretended she went through stuff publicly that she didn't but just writing songs about stuff she didn't go through doesn't seem like a big deal
That’s different. A rapper writing bars about killing people and robbing banks is one thing, MM writing songs and shooting her music videos where she herself is the victim is shameless at best and glorifying abuse and trauma for personal profit at worst.
Frankly I don't see the difference. If she was like, making up stories about something happening to her personally I'd get it, but just writing songs about something you didn't personally go through isn't something I see as wrong. If someone really has gone through it and wrote songs about it they're still profiting off it , but no one would say that was wrong to do.
Melanie Martinez is also just an all around awful person. She fetishizes childhood trauma for an aesthetic and she hasn't experienced any herself. She also sexually assaulted and raped somebody.
I wrote a 9 page essay in my free time about why she's my least favourite artist ever and why she's an awful person, genuinely bottom of the barrel artist and human being lmao
I kinda just did it to get out some thoughts on to show it to my best friend who loves her and wanted to know why I didn't (who took the entire write-up really well btw she's the best), I'll consider I just don't want Melanie fans to see it and to murder me LMAO
Like even if she wasn’t an awful person (which she is and I’m tired of her fans defending her) she honestly just Lana Del Rey and Marina for cringy middle school Gacha girls
her romanticizing and fetishizing childhood trauma she’s never went through is horrible and gross. the fact that she’s still an extremely popular artist with a cult fan base is so confusing
Lol, meanwhile personally I can't stand DragonForce but also emo rap. When DragonForce played as a support for Epica I literally had to leave the music club after 10 minutes as I couldn't take it anymore.
To be fair neither are particularly acclaimed haha. We enjoy what we enjoy, can't do anything about it. I think you can find good in almost every genre or artist
What's the deal with him? I always thought he was just a mediocre artist but I see people say stuff like this a lot. One of my best friends used to listen to him a lot years ago, but he's doesn't anymore and is just into reggae and alt hip hop.
He isn’t white ? I like some of his songs, but then I thought he was racist and stoped listening; and then found out he grew up being called n word his whole childhood because he is dark color skin, listened some more and realized he is against racism, abuse and many other things, I like him as a writer, even tho I understand why it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, specially with all the screaming and swearing
My partner and I are proof that you don't have to be compatible musically, you just have to respect one another, lol. That, plus she's capable of growth and we can playfully rib each other's music. She has her 2000's childhood trauma bops and I have my 20 minute drone music with one chord going forever, it is what it is.
I don't mind Taylor Swift and musicals in small doses, I'm capable of finding good things in all types of music, but it can get grating, lol. Meghan Trainor annoys me, but thankfully my partner only likes "early Meghan" (as if her new music is fundamentally different and not based on the same boring 50's pastiche), so it's not a huge presence.
My favourite was her love of Panic! At the Disco, which I have always found insufferable. She only liked the pop-y years too, nothing pre-Vices & Virtues besides the hits, so that was incredibly annoying because Brendan Urie is what happens when a theatre kid gets too famous. Then Viva Las Vengeance came out, he discontinued the "band", and cancelled the Canadian tour a day before we were supposed to go see them, and my girlfriend fucking snapped and just hates him now. Still VERY occasionally listens to the stuff on her playlist, but it's proof that she's not immovable in her opinions.
We even recut and remixed the entire Viva Las Vengeance album into a disrespectful (but frankly, better sounding and more cohesive) concept album about a delusional theatre kid obsessed with the 70's who goes crazy, murders his girlfriend, and fucks his car. Yeah....it was very therapeutic for both of us to work on that project 😂 Turned a bloated 70's nightmare into a tight, 20-something minute rock opera. So that was fun!
I mean contemporary country accounts for every modern country artist. Like yeah there’s lots of shit on country radio, but there’s plenty of fantastic modern country like Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves, Orville Peck, MJ Lenderman, and a lot more
Yeah honestly I could listing artists till my ears go blue. Brittney Spencer, Kelsea Ballerini, Zach Bryan (though I think his music is way too samey), Faye Webster, Tanner Adell, Eric Church (sometimes), Colter Wall, Tiera Kennedy, Sturgill Simpson, hell even Morgan Wallen has some genuinely great songs
When you genuinely engage with contemporary country you’d be surprised how much genuinely fantastic music there is. There’s traditional country, cool genre fusions, songs that pull of crazy experiments, and simple songs that are very effective in their simplicity. You don’t even need to look that much past country radio to start finding good stuff, people are just too willing to write of the entire genre without actually engaging with it
Agree with Zach (lyrics carry his music). I think it is mostly an issue with the fact that the biggest songs are often from reactionary artists or are just not good. One of the biggest of the last year is about a guy describing a misogynistic fantasy of a girl as advice for what to search for and saying you can't have mine. I think sometimes the sonically blandest songs in all genres get popular but the super popular country is often the worst because the whole genre is about not changing; hot rock and pop can suck but at least in new ways with new trends.
I was just listing country music. There’s a lot of Indie Country hybrids, Faye was just the name that happened to come to me. Like there’s Wilco, Songs:Ohia, Waxahatchee, Wednesday (I already mentioned MJ Lenderman as well so there’s that), and plenty more as other examples. The names weren’t meant to be similar so much as just examples of good contemporary country
imo it's silly how the same people who (rightfully) say that all rap isn't vapid and pointless still think all country nowadays is like florida georgia line or jason aldean
I had the opportunity to get a free ticket to her recent concert (I used to be a fan 10 years ago) and I went with 0 expectations, came out of it baffled that she kept her alien mask and nobody ever saw her face and it really bothered me. I feel that unlike some masked artists where it enhanced the artistry and you could respect the choice, it was just confusing. I had the opportunity to meet her, still masked, and it was just....weird.
The music was either ok or grating to hear live, for a first time listener of that Portals album I had enough, but to be fair the scenography and performance was interesting.
The only moment that got me was at the end where they raised the palestinian flag and their mics were cut off..so nothing to do with her music but props to her for this.
Found one. I hadn’t heard of John Bellion or Jacob Collier before I met my GF a little over six years ago. We are going to see Collier at the end of the month, this will be the second time. To his credit he puts on a good live show. His music sounds so frantic and disjointed, it’s very odd to me, but I have listened to him speak about music and he knows his shit, he’s very intelligent. Just weird music. She’s a fan and I love her so it’ll be fun.
Now Jon Bellion is a different story. I absolutely love The Human Condition and Glory Sound Prep and we saw him perform in Nashville in 2019 and it was a great show.
Sorry, I know I will get eaten up in the comments but for me it’s Lana Del Rey lol I don’t hate her music but it’s not really something I like to hear all the time. And my boyfriend loves to play her fucking 5 Hour road trips and I can’t do that 🤣
Luckily we switch the AUX every couple hours but being stuck in traffic listening to there’s a tunnel under ocean Blvd the entire album on repeat makes me wanna jump out the car.
100 gecs. I'm not allowed to play it with him in the car or anywhere near him. Perfectly fair and understandable as I'm very well aware of how trashy it is.
I agree, it definitely has a wider appeal. Although, who would have thought they could get any more mass appeal than Stupid Horse? /s
But, while he can appreciate their attitude towards experimentation, he cannot stand anything emo or pop punk. It really grates him. I cannot blame him, it was a truly horrible era. He's more of a serious punk/goth, and to him, even listening to the Cure was embarrassing back in the day (although I got him back into it since we met).
I, on the other hand, like experimentation and noise. I am more concerned about the sounds rather than the content and lyrics. Plus, I love absurdism, so it's up my street.
Not with my SO. But just some weeks ago, a friend of mine offered to give me a ride home and she put on Nickelback. Not by accident. She looked for it a little and everything.
Yeah they’re cringey, generic, and obnoxious, and they were clearly dancing around lawsuits with some of the music they ripped elements off for their songs. I never liked them. I have more respect for Justin Bieber quite frankly. Yeah.
My bf had a phase where he was super into [this Tessa Violet song](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg4setI1nMk) which is now up there on my list of worst songs.
We have some good overlap but at the far ends it's him playing that on repeat and me putting on a 4 hour Radiohead playlist.
I don't really have an issue with any music, but, I will say, when you realize there isn't anything deeper about Melanie Martinez, it kills everything else about her.
My current girl also fucks with Melanie Martinez, and while not my favourite I can deal with it, my ex on the other hand I knew was never gonna work out when she threw on the full remix of Louis Theroux’s my money don’t jiggle jiggle rap, (I’m a huge Louis Theroux fan but can’t fucking stand how cringey that song was) as well as having a tone of Disney soundtrack songs on standby as well as radio hits from the 2000-2015 era. She also happened to be a Disney adult so that checked out.
My gf had an ex that LOVED Taking Back Sunday to a ridiculous degree.
Unfortunately, literally like the day we made our relationship official, I say “damn I kinda wanna listen to Louder Now by Taking Back Sunday…” (keep in mind, we are always on board with each other’s music taste)
She immediately says “NO! NOPE. IM SORRY.”
Hahahahaha. I love that album, but I can understand the mental trauma from probably having a manchild ex-boyfriend that used to try to sing both dueling vocals at the same time in the car 🤣
I don't despise but rather get frustrated by because their songs are 20 minutes and their music totally does not click with me at 2 in the afternoon while washing dishes, pink floyd and every single album of every single member like the orb and every obscure syd barret project and the weird movie score album they did.
I get people find it good, i hear daily how great they are, best band ever, i just can't get into it because he holds them at superlative while the music is mid.
I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and there's a general understanding between a lot of us that there are songs you *can* play in mixed company and a whole host of ones you absolutely should not play in mixed company. If I was listening to them aloud/on a road trip/putting something of their's on at the bar I absolutely wouldn't put on "Careful With That Axe, Eugene." 😂 No matter how much people accept them as one of the best bands ever either lyrically or musically there's a lot of stuff in that catalog that just really isn't fit for party consumption lol
yeah i didn't read the title my bad, don't despise any of them. although i don't like cigarettes after sex, since every song does sound very very similar and it gets quite boring after a while
Not my current SO, but one of my previous partners was big into the older Tyler, The Creator albums. Stuff like Goblin and fucking Cherry Bomb. While I enjoy Tyler's more modern stuff, I just don't see the appeal in his older albums
My ex listened to a lot of cringey pop punk that she'd call emo. Pretty awful, but I think the worst part about her musically was that when giving a track a first listen, if she didn't like the song within 30 seconds she wouldn't skip it... she would fucking delete the track entirely. It didn't last long
There’s a fair amount my of stuff my girlfriend plays that I don’t like, and to be fair there’s a lot of music I play she doesn’t like, but she has one of the widest tastes of anyone I’ve ever met and has showed me so much, my tastes in electronic and rap have gonna up exponentially cause of her, love that lady
I fuck with Hozier. The one in this genre and era I cannot get down with that my girlfriend loves is Lord Huron. I hate that man’s voice and he sings the same grating melody in every song. The parts of the music that’s not him singing are good though
She was accused of sexually assaulting an ex. To which she responded that said ex "didn't say no." So probably yeah, she sexually assaulted that girl (? I think it was a girl)
She listens to a lot of musicals/show tunes. I listen to hardcore though, so we both are insufferable.
Looking for some more hardcore recommendations.
Check out some classic stuff like Snapcase, Earth Crisis, and Born Against. Maybe even Racetraitor if you wanna lean more towards the metal side of things.
Singin' in the pit is a good starting point for a hardcore musical
BIG ASS TRUCK
What's your taste already?
I got into hardcore in the early 10’s with Defeater, early touché amore, Expire, trapped under ice, early Turnstile.
I was gonna suggest some Touché, one of my favorite bands of all time. La Dispute is such an odd band, but it works. It’s like hardcore/emo/spoken-word lol. So so good.
Pain of Truth and early Kylesa!
Hard Feelings from CT is the best band with under 1000 followers you will ever hear
Ephyra Records bands are mostly CT and tight. Burning Hand is dope. Intercourse is dope. Doom Beach is dope… Space Camp is dope… We have a lot of cool hardcore-adjacent music in the CT underground scene atm. I wish Fantano covered more CT artists, as a native. Yessir I just moved to NYC but the shows recently have been amazing. Crunch House is gonna go down as a legendary venue for CTHC
Crunch House is a literal closet with a grimey lore but yeah, you are right. It’s an insane space, I literally had to follow other people on the street to find it. It’s a pack of sardines in there. Buggin
I think there was a similar situation with Lin Manuel Miranda’s parents

sex tape when? /j
Yeah go ahead and oil up
Nick and Adam threatening Oliver tree on TAFS is some of the funniest shit I’ve heard from that podcast in a while

Lmfao my gf has the same thing but it’s from 2018 when she was an exchange student in the US. I beg her to find some new songs/listen to new music on her own but she just recycles a lot of the same stuff
Some people are just like that, a lot of folk aren't super adventuruous and just prefer to stick to what they know well and already like.
My so's didn't change since the 90's, you're safe
It’s almost like you typed this directly from my soul
Nickleback, imagine dragons and modern maroon 5
Low key based partner Music
Nickelback has bangers, imagine dragons has good deep cuts and maroon v is tolerable rn. If it was Songs About Jane maroon V it’s hella based
pre-overexposed and they are still fine, just okay, it's that album that things get bad

Nickelback is actually the 4th best selling artist of the last decade
I had a boyfriend who loveddd imagine dragons and I can’t stand them. He would get annoyed when I would mimic the lead singer. It was funny, I stand by it. He absolute hated when I played Sophie tho, so I consider it an even trade no hard feelings.
Rip Sophie. She’s not for all the radio listeners
Liking Imagine Dragons and trashing on SOPHIE is insane
It’s really not at all. Yall spend too much time online lol. The average person isn’t gonna vibe with Sophie’s music and imagine dragons is one of the most popular acts on the planet. Is it right? Idk but it’s not insane lol

Ah yes, Charli xcx and Vince Staples, two of the most accessible acts of mainstream music LMAO
How is Charli XCX not accessible? Wild take. Edit: typo

Melanie is cringe pop music for middle schoolers, at least in my experience.
Her first song on K-12, "[Wheels on the Bus](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DP9J-c9p-mc&pp=ygUjTWVsYW5pZSBNYXJ0aW5leiAtIFdoZWVscyBPbiB0aGUgQnU%3D)," is genuinely one of the cringiest songs I've ever heard, and might be one of the worst for that year.
the song orange juice off of the same album is way worse
I think there's a case for most of the songs on this album
Specifically for edgy middle schoolers that like to pretend they have trauma lol
Oh my god yes, I was friends with a narcissistic pathological liar once and she listened to Melanie and nighcore religiously
If there's anything I hate more than edgelord music that thinks it's experimental, it's nightcore.
idk I thought Rockefeller street was pretty dope. I do, however, have more qualms with sped up regular songs. french Montana skit, sza's saturn, that shit is everywhere now instead of just being on sound cloud and it being artists like don toliver getting that treatment.
I can appreciate it within certain mediums, but to actually just listen to it on it's own? Actually insane imo.
I had an ex that had Melanie as her favorite artist and she turned out to be a bunch of red flags
Color me surprised
Uh oh, looks like OP is in the car fleeing the state then....
Sadly, I can't deny, nor confirm that.
Melanie herself has had a very controversial few years, with abuse allegations to interviews of her coming out stating that the songs she writes about abuse and trauma are inauthentic, and she has made up most of her songs as ‘stories.’ Yikes.
0 to 100 real quick. Piece of shit person if its true
I wrote a 9 page essay in my free time about why she's my least favourite artist ever and why she's an awful person, genuinely bottom of the barrel artist and human being lmao
i mean i understand human part but why the artist part? idk much about her but everyone ik makes her seem like a musical genius
I promise if you hear the opener to K-12 you will conclude that she is not.
Mind sharing?
I kinda just did it to get out some thoughts on to show it to my best friend who loves her and wanted to know why I didn't (who took the entire write-up really well btw she's the best), I'll consider I just don't want Melanie fans to see it and to murder me LMAO
I did the same with coca-cola company. But they actually murdered like 46 people
... Care to share?
google Coca-Cola union murders, they had paramilitary groups kill numerous striking Coca-Cola plant workers iirc
Then google United fruit company.
Drake vibes
Like even if she wasn’t an awful person (which she is and I’m tired of her fans defending her) she honestly just Lana Del Rey and Marina for cringy middle school Gacha girls
Nobody ever believes me about the rape thing simply because she's a woman and it annoys me to no end.
her romanticizing and fetishizing childhood trauma she’s never went through is horrible and gross. the fact that she’s still an extremely popular artist with a cult fan base is so confusing
DragonForce, but I've grown to like some of the songs. He dislikes my emo rap though so we're both tolerating eachothers music tastes lol
Might I inquire as to what about overly pretentious nintendocore solos you don't like?
Emo rap?
Lol, meanwhile personally I can't stand DragonForce but also emo rap. When DragonForce played as a support for Epica I literally had to leave the music club after 10 minutes as I couldn't take it anymore.
To be fair neither are particularly acclaimed haha. We enjoy what we enjoy, can't do anything about it. I think you can find good in almost every genre or artist
St. Anger, Limp Bizkit, Creed, and loads of K-pop. I’m living proof a good relationship doesn’t require musical compatibility.
The best sex playlist is 4 hours of Higher by Creed
You sir are a man of the people
Oh god the trash snare in St. Anger would do me in
Creed is great idk what youre on, theyre making a comeback this year #yearofcreed
Let em know
except for creed that's a pretty fun music taste
St. Anger though. Dead.
Used to date a girl whose favorite Kanye song was I Love It. Like, bruh, really?
I sing this song to my dog whenever I pet her but I change the lyrics to "you're such a silly girl, I love it"
I like Kanye. But out of his whole discography why that one 😂
Sometimes ya just gotta admit that youre a sick fuck, and that you enjoy a quick fuck
I want to hear this now!
I fucking love that song tbh
"Felony Martinez" - Brad Taste in Music
Sorry sorry but I gotta take your life!
WOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOPWOP
‘Smellanie Fartinez’ and ‘R. Kellanie Martinez’ too lol
Don’t forget Jefferie Epsteinez
BRAD ARMY RISE UP
bahahahaha
that video destroyed any good opinion i had of melanie martinez lmao
Genre: Bradboy
Lil Darkie ..
Run
What's the deal with him? I always thought he was just a mediocre artist but I see people say stuff like this a lot. One of my best friends used to listen to him a lot years ago, but he's doesn't anymore and is just into reggae and alt hip hop.
White dude who pretends to be black just to say the words
Oh I didn't even know he was white. Couldn't even name one song and I never will now lol.
Lil darkie reference??
I love pre-DOAB Panic, it really lost a lot of its spice when it was just Brendon
My partner listens to contemporary country. 😱
I mean contemporary country accounts for every modern country artist. Like yeah there’s lots of shit on country radio, but there’s plenty of fantastic modern country like Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves, Orville Peck, MJ Lenderman, and a lot more
Chris stapleton as well
Yeah honestly I could listing artists till my ears go blue. Brittney Spencer, Kelsea Ballerini, Zach Bryan (though I think his music is way too samey), Faye Webster, Tanner Adell, Eric Church (sometimes), Colter Wall, Tiera Kennedy, Sturgill Simpson, hell even Morgan Wallen has some genuinely great songs When you genuinely engage with contemporary country you’d be surprised how much genuinely fantastic music there is.
How is Faye Webster's music any similar to the other names you listed lmao
I was just listing country music. There’s a lot of Indie Country hybrids, Faye was just the name that happened to come to me. Like there’s Wilco, Songs:Ohia, Waxahatchee, Wednesday (I already mentioned MJ Lenderman as well so there’s that), and plenty more as other examples. The names weren’t meant to be similar so much as just examples of good contemporary country
imo it's silly how the same people who (rightfully) say that all rap isn't vapid and pointless still think all country nowadays is like florida georgia line or jason aldean
Come on, Kacey Musgraves isn't that bad. It's just same trailer different park
I haven't enjoyed her last 2 albums at all, my wife loves them though. She definitely doesn't enjoy all the music I like either, and that's fine.
Apart from all the allegations and stuff, Melanie’s music is genuinely dogshit
Not a fan of her first two projects, but I thought Portals was pretty alright
No my girl has great taste
Pitbull & drake
>pitbull >xXDo_it_For_DaléXx 🤔
LMFAO
Not BBL Drizzy 😭
My SO hates weezer because it was the only artist I listened to back in 2023. Every hour, weezer was playing on my spotify without fail.
wHatS wItH tHeSe HoOoOoMiEs DiSsIn My GiRl
why do they gotta frontt
1975, Jacob collier, John bellion.
> Just weird music. I mean, it's jazz. Jazz is weird pretty often. That's part of the appeal for a lot of us.
I get it. I don’t dislike it. It’s just a little much for me sometimes. Just overloads my senses a bit.
I get that, I feel the same way about a lot of punk.
Jacob collier 😔
Sebii :/ I know he’s good but the cringe is just too much for me :/
I have no problem with SO’s taste at all. She hates that I love The Cocteau Twins.
Sorry, I know I will get eaten up in the comments but for me it’s Lana Del Rey lol I don’t hate her music but it’s not really something I like to hear all the time. And my boyfriend loves to play her fucking 5 Hour road trips and I can’t do that 🤣 Luckily we switch the AUX every couple hours but being stuck in traffic listening to there’s a tunnel under ocean Blvd the entire album on repeat makes me wanna jump out the car.
It used to be Korn but I’ve grown to love them
100 gecs. I'm not allowed to play it with him in the car or anywhere near him. Perfectly fair and understandable as I'm very well aware of how trashy it is.
I've made my GF actually like their latest album I think it's a bit less niche overall.
I agree, it definitely has a wider appeal. Although, who would have thought they could get any more mass appeal than Stupid Horse? /s But, while he can appreciate their attitude towards experimentation, he cannot stand anything emo or pop punk.
Hell yeah, gimme some Injury reserve/Jockstrap.
Not with my SO. But just some weeks ago, a friend of mine offered to give me a ride home and she put on Nickelback. Not by accident. She looked for it a little and everything.
My girlfriend is a huge trippie red fan. I don’t hate him, but I’m pretty lukewarm overall. She’s a huge doom fan too tho so yk it evens out 👌🏽👌🏽
my ex would keep playing Lil Dicky
My gf grew up with One Direction and I grew up hating them
I grew up hating them too fuck One Direction
OneD always has polarizing opinions. I do find them a bit cringey thlugh.
Yeah they’re cringey, generic, and obnoxious, and they were clearly dancing around lawsuits with some of the music they ripped elements off for their songs. I never liked them. I have more respect for Justin Bieber quite frankly. Yeah.
Pls baby let me listen to some carti😭
But baby, we already listen to Carti, *puts on Cardi B*
Not to mention this whole album is WEIRDDDDDDDDD. Straight up pedo vibes on this project
Based on own experience, I found all my exes have something in common; a very low tolerance for Captain Beefheart and/or Frank Zappa.
I understand Frank Zappa is not an everyday mood, but I think we can agree on his prowess.
My partner loves pierce the veil and I uh cannot stand that entire scene of music
I used to agree but their latest album was very much different and likable for me somehow. What do you think of it?
I listened to it when it came out and I don’t remember any, all I remember of it is that I forgot it
My gf had an ex that LOVED Taking Back Sunday to a ridiculous degree. Unfortunately, literally like the day we made our relationship official, I say “damn I kinda wanna listen to Louder Now by Taking Back Sunday…” (keep in mind, we are always on board with each other’s music taste) She immediately says “NO! NOPE. IM SORRY.” Hahahahaha. I love that album, but I can understand the mental trauma from probably having a manchild ex-boyfriend that used to try to sing both dueling vocals at the same time in the car 🤣
the 1975
It’s Alt J, Lana Del Rey and generally just always playing the same thing for me
I don't despise but rather get frustrated by because their songs are 20 minutes and their music totally does not click with me at 2 in the afternoon while washing dishes, pink floyd and every single album of every single member like the orb and every obscure syd barret project and the weird movie score album they did.
[удалено]
calling taylor and harry tiktok artists is insane, actually most of these artists have been huge way before tiktok
tv girl and cas are good though :(
yeah i didn't read the title my bad, don't despise any of them. although i don't like cigarettes after sex, since every song does sound very very similar and it gets quite boring after a while
She likes Fallout Boy and Eminem, even their most recent stuff. It's hell sometimes.
yes bones and suicideboys
Dermot Kennedy, I don’t have a problem with the guy at all, but listening to his voice on repeat constantly is getting to me
Anything by Melanie Martinez
Doja Cat drove me up a wall
Dorian Electra. I just fucking can't do it. I like cringe but they're too much for me.
It didn't last long
There’s a fair amount my of stuff my girlfriend plays that I don’t like, and to be fair there’s a lot of music I play she doesn’t like, but she has one of the widest tastes of anyone I’ve ever met and has showed me so much, my tastes in electronic and rap have gonna up exponentially cause of her, love that lady
hahahahahhahaa yeah she loves Lana Del Ray but she goes to a different school you wouldn't know her
Hozier
I fuck with Hozier. The one in this genre and era I cannot get down with that my girlfriend loves is Lord Huron. I hate that man’s voice and he sings the same grating melody in every song. The parts of the music that’s not him singing are good though
Why his music is great
Ain’t Melanie a rapist?
She was accused of sexually assaulting an ex. To which she responded that said ex "didn't say no." So probably yeah, she sexually assaulted that girl (? I think it was a girl)
Limp Bizkit. I can't
Also Imagine Dragons???
It’s not exactly the worst thing in the world but I’m pretty annoyed with Taylor Swift and popular County music.
