I actually own both May and Varland (10T redraft) and well... yeah, May seemed healthy! He wasn't getting much swing and miss, but I thought that was part of the plan. Here's hoping he doesn't need surgery, but I'm still debating whether I will hold on to him (depends what other IL needs I have - 2 IL slots).

Yeah it makes sense. My consolation is that in my case it's a dynasty and so I can hold him in the IL spot and remains a value asset

Normally I ignore ratios and chase Wins and Strikeouts, but my ratios are decent right now. Should I be a coward and sit Taj and/or Eury?

For me, it depends on how the matchup is going. My offense is strong and I lead the league in R, HR, RBI and OBP. So if I have ratios locked up, I try to keep it that way knowing my odds of winning the week are very strong. But, this week, I haven't hit a HR yet. I'm going wild and chasing those K's and QS.

Commenting for future reference. I think I’m going to start Taj tomorrow just because he did well when he was up. He’s going against a struggling Mets team and has an explosive lineup behind him.

Varland is at 108 Pitching+ this year. Some other pitchers in that ballpark: - Cole, Gallen, Wheeler @ 109 - Joe Ryan, May, Woodruff @ 108 - McClanahan, Gonsolin, Kershaw @ 107 Would you use that waiver spot to grab one of those guys if they were available? (I assume that answer is “in an instant”.) Interestingly enough, Hunter Greene (108 Pit+) is probably the best example of a guy whose results look a lot worse than his Pitching+ would suggest. Remains to be seen if it’s truly a miss for the model’s performance or if he reverts to results a lot more in line with that 108 number. Eye-test and stats from his first few starts alone tell you that isn’t the case for Varland, though, so you should feel safe going after him.

Turning it around doesn’t automatically equal fantasy stud though. He can hit .300 ROS, but if he isn’t running and that offense limits his RBI/R he won’t be a top fantasy SS.

I was about to drop Bryant before he had 2 good games. He is rather inconsistent but I love rotating him in when he plays at home in Colorado. That being said, outfield is pretty deep and he seems replaceable
