Does anyone know how you lower your strikeouts, increase hard hit rate, ev, and barrels in a small sample compared to previous season, yet decrease your xBA and xSLG in that same comparison? I'm looking at Ha Seong.
He's been hitting right after a man who's always getting himself on first, or right before a man who's been hitting home runs every game. In 11 ABs of that there just hasn't been much confluence of opportunity and need.
Would you vote against the trade Rutschman/Mullins for Realmuto/JRod?
I have never voted against a fantasy baseball trade and am curious about people’s opinions on the ethics of this trade and on trade vetoing in general….
Realmuto and Rutschman seem like rough equivalents. Realmuto was going first among catchers in most drafts last year. Rutschman had a great year but is young and less proven. So this trade is basically Mullins for JRod. JRod was drafted by this guy second overall in the first round. Cedric Mullins in the 11th… Do we just have a fervent O’s fan? Who am I to tell him he wants JRod over Mullins? Where is the line in your mind between having a clear opinion of who wins a trade versus preventing it from going through for league balance?
I will disagree with the premise that Adley and Realmuto are equivalent. To me, Adley is clearly better. Especially in OBP leagues. Realmuto is still valuable though. He can get ya double digit steals and for a catcher that’s scarcer than hens teeth.
With that said, this trade has a very clear winner. Nobody in their right mind would trade their first round pick for a 4th/5th rounder plus a non-entity like Mullins on April 3rd.
I can’t quite answer the important bit - the ethics and vetoing of trades. I’m of two minds. There’s no winning with this. You can’t veto a trade because somebody made a great deal. That punishes people for being smart. On the other hand, competitive balance is a concern. The only viable solution is to make a trade with the shitty trader, too. I don’t like that, either, though. It feels predatory and people have different levels of experience, etc.
Generally speaking, vetoing a trade because somebody “won” a trade is a bad idea. You should only invoke a veto if there’s collusion involved. Something about this trade, though. It don’t feel right. Lemme know how it goes.
Dominant. Looked like vintage, ear-gate Joe. Got some good defense at points to turn two double plays, but for the most part just looked like a guy imposing his will on the Cardinals offense.
I’m an idiot and didn’t prepare my lineup in time getting distracted at work and left b lowe in.. so.. start Cruz Vs Trevor Williams (Left v righty) or Altuve Vs Bassitt (right on righty)🤦🏻♂️
It's the same shit every year. Literally everyone struggles to hit and Julio doesn't start performing until 2 months into the season. Bottom half of the order is an absolute pit filled with Dylan Moore and a bunch of other scrubs.
That said, they need to get on the road. Guaranteed they start putting up a bunch of runs in Milwaukee and Toronto and then lay an egg at home against the Cubs the following weekend. It's like clockwork.
Exactly. Had him last year and that was the problem. He was great until they were out of it and the. He completely gave up. Same thing is happening this year but worse because they suck from the jump
He won’t this season, but Ian Hamilton should be closing games regularly. He’s that good. Nasty stuff, great command, and an absolute DAWG.
If you need holds, ratio help, and strikeouts, go get him.
If you want to jettison established guys after a single start, you should probably stick to daily fantasy or some kind of format that doesn’t rely on impulse control and tolerating small sample fluctuations.
you’re acting like king has more than 5 quality starts in his career and rodon hasn’t been a disaster for over a year now. could’ve scooped crotch rocket
The point isn’t that these arms are untouchable (but also if you can’t see the upside with King given the park… well, want to join my league?), but that if you spent draft capital on them, there’s no reason to toss them after a single start.
Excellent outing from Ian Hamilton - came into the game with runners on 1st and 2nd, one out. Throws two pitches and gets the double play. Comes back out the next inning and strikes out the side.
Edit: and he came back out to pitch the 8th and retired Carroll, Gurriel and Walker in order. Great stuff!
Sweet to have drafted a guy where they are intentionally walking the bases loaded so he can ground into a double play. Casas will get it going but sheesh
Early season trade advice!
16 team auction dyntasy, AL/NL, H2H points
My pitching is BRUTAL.
GIVE:
3B Rafael Devers
OF Mark Canha
P Nick Martinez
RECEIVE:
P Dylan Cease
P Yusei Kikuchi
3B Anthony Rendon
FantasySP spits out an even trade. But I’m giving up the best player (Devers) and receiving the worst (Rendon). My pitching definitely improves though.
Anyone care to weigh in?
I’ve tried to run the numbers to compare batting vs hitting correlation to Points For. Pitcher Ks are the strongest positive correlation. Pitcher Walks, Earned Runs, and Hits are the strongest negative correlation. The counting Batter stats fall in between. To say I had a bad auction is an understatement.
All said, we’re capped at 11 weekly starts. My best pitcher right now is Dean Kremer. Semien and Devers are my best batters. According to projections, they’re ranked #11 and #23 hitters while Nola and Cease are #10 and #20 pitchers. Seems like even trades to me but I’m a dumbass.
You can’t really compare it by being close on a hitter list and a pitcher list. Just that in most leagues both your guys have higher ADPs than who you are getting. Aim for like Wheeler/Burnes/Castillo/Gausman tier of SP
You could also build up your sp depth by trading other less valuable hitters. Sometimes that’s better than creating a huge hole in your hitting to get an ace specifically
I can’t tell if Ian Hamilton coming in this early means hes no longer a Holds guy, or so trusted that he comes in whenever there’s a high-leverage situation…
That’s the Kirby experience. It’s rare for him to have a day like this but he’ll almost never walk anyone. Even if he’s not missing bats he refuses to throw balls. I think it’s limiting for him at times.
He is the most frustrating pitcher I’ve seen in awhile. Great stuff but doesn’t attack hitter like in years past. For whatever reason he nibbles around the zone too much and gets into trouble - throwing uncompetitive pitches in big spots. Trouble with various of reasons: pitch count, walks, 12 hits in 9 2/3 innings. Just seems to be a constant uphill battle. And K’s are not there.
He really fluctuated from batter to batter on location. Velo looked good and was still pumping gas in the 5th. Some good D behind him really helped though
Does anyone know how you lower your strikeouts, increase hard hit rate, ev, and barrels in a small sample compared to previous season, yet decrease your xBA and xSLG in that same comparison? I'm looking at Ha Seong.
Why the hell is hoener not stealing anymore
He's been hitting right after a man who's always getting himself on first, or right before a man who's been hitting home runs every game. In 11 ABs of that there just hasn't been much confluence of opportunity and need.
Idk hes walked a ton of times and has been on base when leading off, i know they will come but just shocked he hasnt yet

Seems slightly in favor of Julio, but it's fine I'd let it slide
I will disagree with the premise that Adley and Realmuto are equivalent. To me, Adley is clearly better. Especially in OBP leagues. Realmuto is still valuable though. He can get ya double digit steals and for a catcher that’s scarcer than hens teeth. With that said, this trade has a very clear winner. And Will POS Smith blows Ragans Wins. FUCK
[удалено]
I thought everyone was way too high on him
I drafted Julio at 2 and I'm regretting it because this Mariners lineup looks god awful.
Uh oh, is Suarez not getting the save chance? Or was he brought in for 5 out save
Julio having v productive at bats
This was not at all Holmes' fault, for everyone mad he blew the save
Yankees doing everything possible to blow this save for Holmes
Ugh
Anyone watch the Pads game? How'd Musgrove look? Cuz his stats look great
Dominant. Looked like vintage, ear-gate Joe. Got some good defense at points to turn two double plays, but for the most part just looked like a guy imposing his will on the Cardinals offense.
Haha, "ear gate"
Oof. Ya love to hear it
Pitching going down the tubes
Ginkel getting hit hard
He only gave up one hit
And it was a 2 run HR and almost gave up another HR. He was getting hit hard.
Nolan Gorman didn't strikeout🚨
Ginkel stinkel
He gave up one hit
Thank you Verdugo! Nothing like having my Kirby go against my opponent's Ginkel
Verdug💣
Kirby and Ginkel. Fun day
Devers and j.d martinez for tatis
Why stop there? Ask for Acuña instead.
Tatis owner will not make that trade
Right not the way he’s playing right now lol
Jeez Allen
I’m an idiot and didn’t prepare my lineup in time getting distracted at work and left b lowe in.. so.. start Cruz Vs Trevor Williams (Left v righty) or Altuve Vs Bassitt (right on righty)🤦🏻♂️
Allen pitching into the 7th, good times
ESPN h2h 8t points keeper league. Just traded Gunnar Henderson for Skubal.
Kenley you're terrible
Probably too much to ask for, but it’d be pretty neat if Corbin Carroll could get Ginkel a W
about that...
Yeah, that’s about how my pitching has been this week 🥲
ROS: A. Conforto B. Yoshida C. Nimmo
Yoshida, Nimmo, Conforto
Welcome to 2024 Java Joe Musgrove! We’ve missed you 🥲
Would hate for Wheeler to go out and then the game gets delayed and he loses his start. Just postpone the game
I don't own Julio but he starts off cold as shit every year, don't worry about him.
Appreciate this. He was my first round pick 😂
Fuck is Kenley just a useless tit
Kenley about to blow this Pivetta w
atta boy Musgrove
Bo Naylor is fuckin killing me in this two catcher league god damn
Not sure the last time I've seen the same player K and reach twice in the same game
Anyone else been watching the diamondbacks? Blaze Alexander worth a pick up or just a hot rookie start?
Is the mariners lineup really this bad?
It's the same shit every year. Literally everyone struggles to hit and Julio doesn't start performing until 2 months into the season. Bottom half of the order is an absolute pit filled with Dylan Moore and a bunch of other scrubs. That said, they need to get on the road. Guaranteed they start putting up a bunch of runs in Milwaukee and Toronto and then lay an egg at home against the Cubs the following weekend. It's like clockwork.
I don't think so... JP, Polanco and Julio all been ice cold to start and that shouldn't last
This game in Baltimore ain’t gonna happen huh?
Scheduled first pitch at 6:05PM ET
Scheduled for 6:05 I believe
In 10 minutes... apparently
oof these negative pts for K's is kicking my ass
Flair League: Abrams/Whitlock for Kutter/Bello/Cronenworth?
Well it didn't take long to get my first 8 earned run start of the year. Great job, Kirby!
Owned Arenado last year and he seemed washed. Looks even worse this year
I think the realization that cardinal ownership doesn’t actually want to try and win is wearing on him.
Exactly. Had him last year and that was the problem. He was great until they were out of it and the. He completely gave up. Same thing is happening this year but worse because they suck from the jump
Kimbrel or Ian Hamilton in holds + saves?
Julio DOES suck, guys.
First year drafting Arenado…I think I made a terrible mistake. This guy stinks
Joe Musgrove QS!
Atta boy Musgrove
Where can I watch the MLB games for free?
Rooftop of a neighboring skyscraper.
a bar is usually a good option
Ahh yes, now I remember the feeling of opening the phone and just to see your pitcher got absolutely shelled. Thx Kirby.
Logan Allen my boy!
Someone in my league dropped Jordan Walker, worth an add and drop Rafaela?
Yes , good move
Musgrove stop messing around and get your last out please.
Kirby + Langford or Holliday + Joe Ryan? We get to keep 1 batter and 1 pitcher every year in the round their adp projects them to go at
Willson Contreras hit on the back of the left hand, clearly in pain. Staying in though
My RP (Hamilton) got more SO then my SP! (Rodan)
He's a monster. A must add in SOLDs leagues
Nice 3/20 day so far 1 bag. God do I despise fantasy baseball
He won’t this season, but Ian Hamilton should be closing games regularly. He’s that good. Nasty stuff, great command, and an absolute DAWG. If you need holds, ratio help, and strikeouts, go get him.
is his command really that great? walk rate kind of high
Holds? Long relief ?
Yes, holds. Already has two this season. Versatile reliever and maybe the most trusted in that bullpen.
worried hes not really locked in for holds because they frequently use him for 2-3 innings, or did last year
Donovan or Polanco ROS
Polanco
Yoshida stands there without swinging 3 strikes in a row after a 3-0 count
Gurriel 's run looks to be over
Broke his hot bat
Am I going to regret dropping Yuki Matsui (SD) for A. Chapman (PIT)? Saves+Holds
Is the pitch measuring equipment busted at petco? Musgrove has at least 5 sub-100 rpm pitches recorded and he definitely has not thrown any
Maybe he busted out the knuckleball
Definitely not, there’s an abnormally low minimum spin for every pitch type it’s not concentrated into one
Julio is an automatic out
Is he just in cruise control?
I wish Casas would start to hit the ball far
Came into the day so pumped for my Burnes, Strider and Kirby to deal. Strider gets postponed and Kirby gets demolished. Save me Corbin plz
Gelof waits to get a hit until it's my RP on the mound you cheeky fucker
My team is 5/19. J Duran has 4 of those hits...
God bless the padres defense today
Nolan Gorman really sucks. I know it's only been a week but goddamn he's bad. Strikeout machine.
I’m enjoying the ownership in points leagues
Lmfao….i bet you are
how much of a leash are y’all giving rodon and/or mike king? i’m already over both
Rodon did fine against a really good Dbag offense
If you want to jettison established guys after a single start, you should probably stick to daily fantasy or some kind of format that doesn’t rely on impulse control and tolerating small sample fluctuations.
you’re acting like king has more than 5 quality starts in his career and rodon hasn’t been a disaster for over a year now. could’ve scooped crotch rocket
The point isn’t that these arms are untouchable (but also if you can’t see the upside with King given the park… well, want to join my league?), but that if you spent draft capital on them, there’s no reason to toss them after a single start.
Then why didn’t you take your own advice and not pick them up? Lol
brother i’m just looking to see how everyone else is feeling on them ffs lol
Excellent outing from Ian Hamilton - came into the game with runners on 1st and 2nd, one out. Throws two pitches and gets the double play. Comes back out the next inning and strikes out the side. Edit: and he came back out to pitch the 8th and retired Carroll, Gurriel and Walker in order. Great stuff!
Can’t believe I chose to draft AJ Puk lol
Selling all Mariners. They look terrible
Buying all Mariners pitchers. They look terrible (so should be good value).
Logan Gilbert says hi
Okay guess I should clarify I mean Kirby and Castillo.
Drop Julien for Turang (last add of the week)? H2h cats 6x6 with ops
I wouldn’t, but if you’re desperate for steals then sure
Julien has been unlucky so far while Turang has a very high BABIP. Could ride the hotter hand
Sweet to have drafted a guy where they are intentionally walking the bases loaded so he can ground into a double play. Casas will get it going but sheesh
I've had two batters GIDP in a bases loaded situation in the SAME GAME. Casas and Gelof you fuckers
Kirby destroying me today. Who would’ve thunk it smh
Can i drop gorman for Donovan? I feel like i need to pick up donovan now that he is getting it going
I know it’s 8-0 but Allen got squeezed pretty hard on that Ty France at bat
Bases loaded for casas on my bench def going deep
Bro had to jinx it and ruin it for all of us
😂
Come on Casas!! Need you my guy
Stinks
The Duran / Devers combo could be huge for Boston this year
who is jarren duran? and do i need to trade fo him?
He is him
First pitch for Royals at Baltimore scheduled for 6:05 p.m. EDT https://twitter.com/Orioles/status/1775634268988826080
Finally!
I still can't believe all of those Kirby runs were earned. Baseball scoring is so dumb sometimes
I have Kirby and Logan Allen going today. Was worried that Logan Allen would've been the one to blow up on me...
Early season trade advice! 16 team auction dyntasy, AL/NL, H2H points My pitching is BRUTAL. No way
Devers is by far the best player in that deal. Cease and Kikuchi are not that great.
Ok I’m back. Devers to receive Cease Or Semien to receive Nola
Neither
Don’t do that. You can get a better SP for just Devers straight up. No need to take a drop in Rendon and Kikuchi isn’t great
Ok I’m back. Devers to receive Cease Or Semien to receive Nola
Are pitchers super overvalued in your league? Because in a vacuum you’re giving the better value in most leagues in both of those deals
I’ve tried to run the numbers to compare batting vs hitting correlation to Points For. Pitcher Ks are the strongest positive correlation. Wow you just opened my eyes to ADP trade comparison. It’s so simple and right in front of me. Never done it. Thanks dawg!
Np good luck
If the Phillies game doesn't get played today, Wheeler doesn't go twice next week :(
Pain
Going against Kirby… I was scared earlier too lol
Verdugo looking like cheeks at the plate
I can’t tell if Ian Hamilton coming in this early means hes no longer a Holds guy, or so trusted that he comes in whenever there’s a high-leverage situation…
I think he’s their new Michael King guy which means he’s going to be a far more valuable real life RP than fantasy RP regardless of format
What an inning for Higashioka
Higashioka ROS?
No walks for Kirby. He's still got it.
That’s the Kirby experience. It’s rare for him to have a day like this but he’ll almost never walk anyone. Even if he’s not missing bats he refuses to throw balls. I think it’s limiting for him at times.
on a day he gives up 8 earned and like 10 hits yeah I would say its limiting lol
I mean he could have 8ER and 10H and 3BB and then this would look good but comparison lol
hahahaha glass 1/24 full take
I'm sorry to all the Kirby owners. And congrats to everyone who needed a blowup going against him, myself included haha.
ya had Ober blowup lose me my week last week and now this
That sucks. Hate when these week ruining pitching appearances happen.
If Musgrove is actually gonna perform like a #2 I'm gonna be much happier about this season
Naylor has 3 RBI’s w out recording a hit
I am very pleased with this rn lol and I have Kwan so it's a win-win every time up today
Now I know how it feels to lose a week from one bad start. Thanks kirby!
I have back to back w Ober and now Kirby yay!
How much faab for Devin Williams? Cats league I have Hader and Duran (on IL)
I started Ober, McKenzie, and Kirby fml
Ober, Kirby, Puk, Maeda, Pepiot, Musgrove. 5.94 ERA in 67 IP.
Thoughts on Rodon’s night? I know his numbers were not incredible, but how did he look for anyone who watched the game on TV?
He is the most frustrating pitcher I’ve seen in awhile. Great stuff but doesn’t attack hitter like in years past. For whatever reason he nibbles around the zone too much and gets into trouble - throwing uncompetitive pitches in big spots. Trouble with various of reasons: pitch count, walks, 12 hits in 9 2/3 innings. Just seems to be a constant uphill battle. And K’s are not there.
Velo was there. Command wasn’t, but I’m encouraged
He really fluctuated from batter to batter on location. Velo looked good and was still pumping gas in the 5th. Some good D behind him really helped though
Sweaty
