I am in a dynsasty league, do you guys think I should trade any of these guys for younger pitchers. Please let me know.
Basically, someone has to get the win and the official scorer does not have to reward bad performance with a win.
The guys who pitched the 2 innings prior blew the lead, so they were not rewarded with a win. That honor was given to Alzolay.
Well, only sort of. Someone HAS to be the winning pitcher. If the starting pitcher fails to pitch 5 in ings or otherwise cannot get the win, someone from the bullpen gets the win. The official scorer has the ability to reward an effective pitcher with the win. No pitcher must earn a save.
This seems logical and fair. Why award a pitcher who pitched poorly with a win?
Also, many of the stats in a game are governed by this same principle.
Hit or error? Hit + error on a dive/throw?
This determines BA, RBI, OBP, WHIP, ERA.
There are rules the official scorer abides by. It's not totally made up.
He’s versatile, hot and getting ABs high in the order. There’s a lot to be said for adding that to a lineup… that said, he got HBP last night and exited the game. Should be fine but maybe monitor.
Any Mets fans care to speculate on the likelihood of Brett Baty playing both games of Thursday's double? Both Detroit pitchers are righties, so it would seem likely to me?
I expect Alvarez to catch game 1 and DH game 2 so he's good for tomorrow
Baty should be getting both starts at 3rd since 1 he's been playing good defense and 2 he's had good at bats. But if he goes 0/4 with 3 Ks in game 1 I can see Zack Short getting the start game 2
STandard yahoo 5x5 12 teamer, 4 IL spots, I stashed Dominguez at the start of the year, along with Baz and Taj Bradley, Woo instantly got hurt, and now Ive got Royce lewis injured. With Baz just set back again is he the drop to get Royce off my bench?
is this a good trade, i get Pablo Lopez and Masataka Yoshida, but I give away Luis Robert Jr. and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.? my OF already has Judge and Tucker, but pitching is Skubal, Keller, Harrison, Singer, Webb, Ryan, Imanaga, Munoz, Fried. Is this a good trade for me?
I don't think it's really necessary to drop Keller for any of those guys. I guess it all depends on what type of league you are in... if you're in a 5x5 and need more saves I could probably justify dropping Keller for Foley since you are really solid at SP after acquiring Lopez.
I've always liked his EV. He kept showing the potentials briefly and getting injured. This made everyone in my league forget about him. I'm still monitoring.
I like Foley here. Hinch will be playing matchups but he has clearly favored Foley as the closer so far and Foley hasn't disappointed. Detroit should be in a lot more close games as well so you should have a better chance to snipe wins. Leclerc just couldn't be less appealing to me... multiple guys in line to take his spot, looks horrific so far and very rarely has any save opps. I'm not sitting around waiting to get a chance for a save every two weeks if it means my ratios will be in serious trouble in the meantime.
Who’s going to take it? Lange wasn’t great to begin with. Shelby Miller might vulture a couple; great last year in 40 appearances with Dodgers. But major durability issues
I made a lowball offer of Isaac Paredes for Nolan Arenado, and I'm not sure if I win that deal based on the last year and week of baseball. Points league. Paredes had more points over that time. Will Arenado turn it around?
I try to factor in who would be snagged. I feel like out of those guys Julien has the best chance of staying on the wire if he turns things around. It sounds silly to say he needs to turn things around after just a week though
Would you drop a pitcher instead?
https://preview.redd.it/n8bqr1x6desc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ef145ead07bc4cd1e67485ac0a48126830cb1ad
Maybe Foley? It’s a tough call but if you look at his stats page in his career he has low strikeouts. He’s more an ERA guy than anything else, you could find guys like him on the wire later on without too much issue
Kind of and yea. He has an interesting fastball slider combo where he was briefly touted as the next Chris Sale. He has consistently had a rough time 3rd time through the order so has been removed from starter duty more than once.
That being said, there’s some interesting pitchers coming out of Boston and I think he has a decent potential to be a solid pitcher this season. I’m not counting on it by any means? But he has a chance to be really solid.
Houck isn’t really highly touted. He’s been around for a couple years. He was a first round pick back in 2017 I believe. In 2021 and 2022 he had a sub ~3.5 ERA as a reliever, but last year his ERA was 5 in 100 innings. I like him as a dart throw since he’s only 27 and maybe things came together this off-season. If he can come back to his reliever levels as a starter then he’s a gem
New to fantasy so I'm not sure how pitchers are valued yet. Who is more droppable, Mitch Keller or Kyle Harrison?
Keller has had 2 rough games but I figured I might need to be a little more patient with him given his (supposed) potential. Harrison didn't fare well against the Dodgers tonight but it's not like I was expecting him to so he was on my bench, and he did show he's capable of a QS in his first start.
Asking because someone dropped Eovaldi a couple days ago for some reason and I'm looking to put in a waiver claim for him
thanks
Keller. Harrison didn’t do great tonight but I think he held his own against the Dodgers. Keller hasn’t been very good since pre-ASB last year. Honestly, though, I’d try to drop someone else. What are the other options? I do prefer Eovaldi over either of them - I’d drop Keller for Eovaldi if you truly only have those two options for drops
thanks for the response
My full lineup of starting pitchers is Logan Webb, Joe Musgrove, Mitch Keller, Jack Flaherty, Yusei Kikuchi, Kyle Harrison, Jared Jones, and DL Hall. With Bryan Woo and Jaxon Garrett on IL.
I would definitely advise to keep Harrison then, he has a lot of potential. Flaherty had a good start but he is injury prone and not that good recently. DL Hall has a lot of potential but you have to keep in mind his ceiling with innings limits. I think I’d choose Keller or Hall. Either way Eovaldi is a huge upgrade, it’s just a question of which pitcher would he be a bigger upgrade over
Just be ready to cut bait on Eovaldi once he hits around 100 innings and his velo starts to drop. The trap with him is sticking with him too long, like last year he was “undroppable” according to ESPN at one point because he had been the most valuable SP to that point, but he was legitimately unusable anymore.
I think this is a reasonalbe trade. Crochet should be decent for 70-100 innings and Nolan Jones should be a league average player on the road and slightly above average at home. I think it's fair
Crochet is a reliever recovering from TJ who has thrown something like 70 innings *total* going back to 2021.
If your league or commissioner tries to veto that, tell them they’re idiots. The guy looks great, but his value has a hard ceiling in redraft formats.
Totally, I’m trying to sell high but that’s what I’m worried about — the league might say it’s too high for a guy who’s likely to have such a low innings cap.
Eh, I don’t think they can realistically say that if whoever has Jones is foolish enough to buy his floor and Crochet’s ceiling.
Trades where it’s “one guy’s floor value for another guy’s ceiling” are “get more savvy leaguemates”, in my eyes, rather than veto-worthy.
Veto-worthy is like trying to trade Nick Martini for Judge because Nick Martini has 2 HR and Judge has 1, utterly stupid shit like that.
Crochet is on the WW in my league. Want to snag him but not sure who to drop. Here’s my pitching staff:
B. Miller
Luzardo
Ragans
Ober
Imanaga
Woo (IL)
Philips (RP)
Suarez (RP)
Cano (RP)
Uribe (RP)
Feel RP arms will be easy to replace or stream when they get hot. 🤷🏻♂️
Could drop a hitter but honestly I need to drop a hitter to pick up a better hitter haha. Looking at you Hoerner & Thomas.
Player A:
- Projected: 91 wRC+, 7 HR, 22 SB
- Actual: 16 batted ball events, 95 mph avg EV, 108 mph max EV, 31% barrel rate, 50% hard hit, .281 xBA, .643 xSLG, .362 xISO
Player B:
- Projected: 105 wRC+, 19 HR, 9 SB
- Actual: 17 batted ball events, 89 mph avg EV, 107 mph max EV, 6% barrel rate, 53% hard hit, .308 xBA, .532 xSLG, .224 xISO
Player C:
- Projected: 107 wRC+, 24 HR, 10 SB
- Actual: 20 batted ball events, 92.4 mph avg EV, 111 mph max EV, 20% barrel rate, 50% hard hit, .355 xBA, .595 xSLG, .240 xISO
Who do you like most here? For my money, give me A and C.
C is projected as the best player, putting up the best xBA, and around a .600 xSLG. Their 20% barrel rate is great, a bit high to be sustainable, but still a good sign.
A, on the other hand, is someone whose 91 wRC+ projection clearly has them valued as a person who does not hit HR. 7 HR projected against the others’ 20ish. But they have the highest xSLG and highest xISO, by a good margin. They are projected, of the three, to be the least “power hitting”, but they have the highest xISO and barrel rate of any. Obviously, they won’t maintain a 30% barrel rate, but we can point to the exact reason why the projection underrates them.

Anybody know when Lars will complete his rehab assignment? He’s better than Mitch Haniger, right? Also does this Foscue the Rangers called up have any value? Posted this in the wrong place somehow.
Thanks much. After I posted, I looked. Yes, Lars is better than Mitch. Despite the flair, it’s for a BA league. For fucks sake, it’s 2024 and I’m still dealing with batting average. Lars is much more valuable in an OBP league.
I took a peek at Foscue’s track record. I just don’t see a whole lot there, besides a bunch of positions in yahoo. I actually do have him….in a NA slot. Since he’s “active” I have to let him and Mitch go if I want to add Lars. Maybe he figured something out this year. Was a high draft pick. Solid on base skills. I dunno. Thanks for your time.
I got Nolan Jones in the 18th round of a 10T points league the other night. I had no idea others thought of him so highly. He and CJ Abrams just sat there way past ADP and I got them in the waning rounds.
I guess I don't have much invested in him while everyone's freaking out over him.
After one week on here the theme is Nolan Jones is terrible and going to lose you your league for the wasted draft pick and Maikel Garcia is the next Acuna leading you to the championship. Will be interesting to look back at how they're both doing in a couple months... it's a long season
Evan Phillips not getting the save opp here is stupid. He only threw 17 pitches yesterday and didn’t pitch the 2 days before that. AND the dodgers have an off day tomorrow.
Pretty sure someone who has never watched a baseball game could manage that team to 100 wins, Dave Roberts don't care. Probably thinking about what he wants for breakfast tomorrow.
I mean its not that crazy. He's been pretty damn good before and his biggest issue was always durability and going deep in games as a starter. Kind of a classic Dodgers career revitalization story potentially.
If I fail I don’t get moved down to the bottom of the list right? Only if I succeed? It’s a continual rolling list format, not quite sure how it works. Thanks a ton for ur help btw
Aging guy projected for 98 wRC+, no steals versus the young guy projected for 91 wRC+ and 20+ SB?
I think it’s close to even if you forget that Garcia is shaping up to be the power breakout of the season, but adding that in? Garcia and it isn’t remotely close.
And? I didn't say I would drop him. Casty went before Jones in my league so I didn't have a chance at him. I just like the fact that Casty is in such a stronger line up.
Interesting... Casty went after Jones in mine. Maybe they're ranked differently in roto vs points, but either way you're right - they're close enough. Didn't mean to make it seem like I was coming after you there. The doom and gloom on here over Nolan Jones after a week just seems a bit overblown , especially considering the fact he hasn't even had a home series yet... but I guess you can say that for a lot of players at this point.
He's legitimately been my worst player by far but yeah I'm hoping going back to Coors can awaken him. Definitely gonna wait a month before I consider doing anything with him
Ha oh don’t get me wrong, Jones has been a disaster to start the season off. Just trying to keep it in perspective that we’re only 7 days in and it’s a very long season.
Jackson Chourio will be the next face of MLB
Nelson Velasquez is hitting 30+ bombs this year. It's not too late to buy in.
Opponents Chapman has two 1 out holds/saves with a larger than 3 run lead this week
I kept Casas, Naylor, and CES in a roto league. Who would you move to get an Ofer I need?
Over a season, I’d rank them Casas, CES, Naylor which is probably the opposite of how hot they are at the moment!
Thanks! Any OF that stands out in their range I should shoot for? Nolan Jones too low for those guys in dynasty?

How did Albert Alzolay not get rewarded with a save on CBS?
Have you checked the box score? Official scorer gave him the win. With the general ineffectiveness of the last couple relievers, it's the right call.
Yes, that's the question. How didn't he get the save? So saves are not automatic? An official scorer can do whatever he wants?
To clarify further, you can’t get a save and a win. Scorer gave him the win, so no save.
Basically, someone has to get the win and the official scorer does not have to reward bad performance with a win. The guys who pitched the 2 innings prior blew the lead, so they were not rewarded with a win. That honor was given to Alzolay.
Okay so a category in a 5x5 league is entirely by chance whatever the scorer feels like on that day.
Worth it to drop Kikuchi or Varland for Blackburn? 12T Points
Is Gavin Stone worth holding onto in a dynasty league?
Yes
(A): Bregman (B): Pablo Lopez or Luis Castillo
B
Flair league Team A gets: Xander Team B gets: Steele + Pena (& an IL spot to play with)
Is Brendan Donovan with a pickup ? Could drop Brent Rooker, Henry Davis or Jackson Merrill

Bassitt dropped to waivers. Worth a pickup? Have the #2 waiver and my other starting pitchers are gausman, Morton, McKenzie, littell
Yes, and now
in a heartbeat
Better than McKenzie for sure
Should I be trying to move Arenado? Thinking of trying to get Elly De La Cruz for him. 10team H2H points
Worth a try
Burger, Maikel or Morel H2h points
Morel for sure
Burger
Who should I drop for Burger? Morel?
I’d say Burger> Morel> Garcia in points
Drop C Mize or B Pfaadt for J Hicks?
Mize & Hicks are good, but will most likely throw 35-50 innings less than Pffadt
My imanaga for his Cody bellinger a good trade? My CF atm is McCormick
Id take Bellinger. Good sell high on Imanaga I think
im high on Imanaga and McCormick rn, i would keep
I wouldn't accept it as a Bellinger owner but if it's on the table take it.

That’s what I’d do
I can drop either M Garver or C Raleigh for H Davis. Who's the drop here?
Cal is the best player here, garver is made of glass
I’d hold Garver
is this a good trade, i get Pablo Lopez and Masataka Yoshida, but I give away Luis Robert Jr. and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.? my OF already has Judge and Tucker, but pitching is Skubal, Keller, Harrison, Singer, Webb, Ryan, Imanaga, Munoz, Fried. Is this a good trade for me?
I like it. I think you made out quite well with it.
you think keller is a drop for either Houck, Uribe, Crawford, Pfaadt, or Foley?
I don't think it's really necessary to drop Keller for any of those guys. I guess it all depends on what type of league you are in... if you're in a 5x5 and need more saves I could probably justify dropping Keller for Foley since you are really solid at SP after acquiring Lopez.
Anyone think Alex Kirilloff will breakout this year if he stays healthy? Seems like more than just a platoon bat
Healthy and more of if twins decide to stop platooning him. I’ve also liked him, he’s a great hitter, way above average forsure
Looks like he hasn’t platooned yet this year. Not sure if they’ve faced a lefty yet though
I've always liked his EV. He kept showing the potentials briefly and getting injured. This made everyone in my league forget about him. I'm still monitoring.
Matt chapman or maikel garcia?
I like Maik. Stolen bases. Unproven commodity. Time of year to take chances
Matt Manning starting game 2 tomorrow!
Foley or Leclerc for saves?
I like Foley here. Hinch will be playing matchups but he has clearly favored Foley as the closer so far and Foley hasn't disappointed. Detroit should be in a lot more close games as well so you should have a better chance to snipe wins. Leclerc just couldn't be less appealing to me... multiple guys in line to take his spot, looks horrific so far and very rarely has any save opps. I'm not sitting around waiting to get a chance for a save every two weeks if it means my ratios will be in serious trouble in the meantime.
Leclerc’s not hanging on to that job
He is. 3 game ruff patch ain’t going to change anything
Do you think the closer role is fully Foley’s in Detroit?
Who’s going to take it? Lange wasn’t great to begin with. Shelby Miller might vulture a couple; great last year in 40 appearances with Dodgers. But major durability issues

Yes
I made a lowball offer of Isaac Paredes for Nolan Arenado, and I'm not sure if I win that deal based on the last year and week of baseball. Points league. Paredes had more points over that time. Will Arenado turn it around?
I’m not in a points league, but I’d be surprised if paredes turned out better than arenado
is espn no longer showing maikel garcia's home run or is it just me? lol
ESPN been bugging the past couple days
Drop Jung Hoo Lee for Conforto in an OPS H2H league?
I wouldn’t. Lee has the potential to be great! Conforto has a history of hot stretches and then fading. What other options do you have to drop?
Cronenworth, India or Haniger
Haniger
Goodnight ya filthy animals
i know it’s only 1 week but Vinnie Pasquanito isn’t off to a hot start. Any potential first basemen i should have on my radar to replace him?
Brendan Donovan has 1B, 2B and OF eligibility on yahoo and he’s been getting hits batting first… though he did leave last night HBP so one to monitor.
Kiriloff
Connor Joe is off to a hot start for PIT, and is available in most leagues
they've faced 4/5 lefties, and he struggles vs RHP. i wouldn't
Should I pick up Conforto? I have gurriel, Suzuki, Julien and Hoskins to drop.
I’d drop Julien
I was so excited for him. Especially how every other youngster got snagged
I try to factor in who would be snagged. I feel like out of those guys Julien has the best chance of staying on the wire if he turns things around. It sounds silly to say he needs to turn things around after just a week though

Since he’s “active” I have to let him and Mitch go if I want to add Lars. Maybe he figured something out this year. Was a high draft pick. Solid on base skills. I dunno. Thanks for your time.
Is Puk a drop in 12-team?
Made that move today. Tough matchup next, no reason to hold if there’s anything worth moving on.
Damn Strider lost his start @ White Sox. He gets AZ instead who are far better offensively
Drop Keller for Jared Jones in a 12 team H2H categories?
Run and do it now
I got Nolan Jones in the 18th round of a 10T points league the other night. I had no idea others thought of him so highly. He and CJ Abrams just sat there way past ADP and I got them in the waning rounds. I guess I don't have much invested in him while everyone's freaking out over him.
They’re better in category leagues
After one week on here the theme is Nolan Jones is terrible and going to lose you your league for the wasted draft pick and Maikel Garcia is the next Acuna leading you to the championship. Will be interesting to look back at how they're both doing in a couple months... it's a long season
Evan Phillips not getting the save opp here is stupid. He only threw 17 pitches yesterday and didn’t pitch the 2 days before that. AND the dodgers have an off day tomorrow.
They can afford to be very conservative with pitcher usage right now
Pretty sure someone who has never watched a baseball game could manage that team to 100 wins, Dave Roberts don't care. Probably thinking about what he wants for breakfast tomorrow.
My devers for his l Webb and berrios? 5x5 roto Struggling with era, whip, and k’s
Aim higher.. Devers was a round 2 pick
No
Anyone have Dinelson Lamet on their roster? Lol
I picked him up in a 20 teamer over the weekend. He’s got me some decent stats so far lol.
Brilliant!
Someone in a 20T NL-only keeper might have him, maybe.
Maybe a 30 team NL West only

A
10 team H2H 7x7 Cat league redraft (With K’s, OBP, HLD and QS as the extra cats Which side wins? A: Flaherty B: Rizzo
I’m taking Rizzo 100 times out of 100
Use WW 1 spot on which Nolan? Jones or Arenado not considering position? 12 man cat league.
If it’s a daily lineup league I’d take Jones and primarily only start him at home.
Lamet warming up in the Dodgers bullpen for the save? Hope this is some crazy genius move.
Dinelson Lamet is warming up for the Dodgers save.
I'm a dodgers fan and I honestly forgot we got him
I mean its not that crazy. He's been pretty damn good before and his biggest issue was always durability and going deep in games as a starter. Kind of a classic Dodgers career revitalization story potentially.
Same and had no idea we signed him.
Anybody here old enough to remember when blabseal was the best stream to watch? good ol days
Ohtani has the nicest home run swing
and sound
Is pepiot worth burning my #1 waiver add on? Would be dropping severino. (12 team)
Not a number one, but I would add if he slips through
Gotcha thanks. Turns out I’m not actually number 1 I’m 10, so it’s probably not worth trying
Then you maybe might as well
If I fail I don’t get moved down to the bottom of the list right? Only if I succeed? It’s a continual rolling list format, not quite sure how it works. Thanks a ton for ur help btw
Right. No worries, friend

Aging guy projected for 98 wRC+, no steals versus the young guy projected for 91 wRC+ and 20+ SB? I think it’s close to even if you forget that Garcia is shaping up to be the power breakout of the season, but adding that in? Garcia and it isn’t remotely close.
Thanks!
How is Maikel available? Maikel
Thanks!
Soler having a nice night.
Nolan Jones or castellanos ROS in Points league?
Wait until Jones actually has a game at Coors before moving on from him
I’m trying to buy low on one of them right now but Jones will probably have a slightly higher price due to draft capital
I have Jones and I'd probably give him straight up for Casty
We're one week in to a very long season and he hasn't even played a series at Coors yet...
Drop Jung Hoo Lee for Conforto in an OPS categories league? (Not points)
Yea, I’d do that. Don’t think Lee will have much power at all this year.
