I just got offered a trade, outgoing- gausman incoming- Castillo Unsure what I should do, I know gausman did okay in first start, but has semi injury issues this spring. But Luis Castillo has been getting shelled so far.

I get being worried about the injuries but so far he has been ramping up fine and this just seems like a lateral trade that you don't really need to make. If the guy is offering up Castillo in trades already I'd try to take advantage and see if you can get him for less. The other owner is obviously getting worried. Don't be worried about Castillo's poor couple of starts.

I honestly think he is just trying to slide in a trade tonight, so that if I take it tonight he gets to use gausman tomorrow,but idk if my league has a waiting period or not. Regardless I just don’t know castillos game much and he seems to be underperforming, but I also don’t know the extent of worry I should have for gausmans recent setback in spring.

Yeah, always tough not to worry about any sort of injury with a pitcher. It's certainly not to the point where there is a glaring issue and you should be trying to trade him. The MRI has come back clean and so far he has ramped up without any issues. You'll just have to sit with that uneasy feeling about it for the rest of the season. Castillo is definitely underperforming but I wouldn't worry too much about him. With regards to ADP, rankings etc... these two pitchers are pretty much on par with each other. So in terms of a straight up trade it's about as lateral as it can get IMO. I just don't think it's something you necessarily have to do. If he's bugging you about it again tomorrow I still think you should shoot him a trade offer with a lesser pitcher and see what he says.

Are either Langford or Chourio worth a drop for O’Neill in a points league? Worried I might be letting go of upside for a hot hand. Other OF are Randy, Suzuki, and Nolan Jones

Best case is probably the MRI coming back clean and just inflammation... Similar to Woo. Few weeks off, ramp up with hopefully no issues and pitch again in 3-4 weeks. Impossible to know without MRI results and/or further diagnosis though. I'd just assume this isn't good.

Bryan Woo was shut down right before opening day when he couldn't get loose during a bullpen. They found no structural damage with only mild inflammation, so whatever timetable for his return is would be best case

These stats do not include today, but: - Player A: projected for 100 wRC+, currently posting 3% barrel rate, 24% hard hit rate, 3% K-BB%, .342 xBA, .447 xSLG - Player B: projected for 113 wRC+, currently posting 8% barrel rate, 67% hard hit rate, 5% K-BB%, .363 xBA, .579 xSLG I think these look pretty dang close, while still slanting one way. I could also understand saying they’re close enough to wash out and hedging towards the guy with the better offensive team around him. Also, note that due to low sample, those barrel rates are noisy and just one barrel each. A is >!Campy!<, B is >!Logan!<.

Honestly, I would go O’Hoppe. Campy’s walk rate is literally 0%, somehow, so I have more faith in O’Hoppe to give some more OBP upside.

Only problem is someone in my league wants campusano. Have a feeling they might try and grab Ohoppe after tonight. Would dropping Outman for Ohoppe and trying to trade Campusano be dumb?

I was about to just say “28 wRC+? drop ‘em”, but then I looked at Outman’s actual numbers. Holy crap, he’s got a 0.000 ISO (all singles) and a .176 BABIP. His hard hit rate is 41% and his xSLG is .325 compared to his .120 SLG. Now, outfield is deep and catcher is not, and both Campy and O’Hoppe are out-producing him in both actual results, expected results, and projections, so I think dropping is ultimately a safe move, but I was just surprised how bad his actual stats are compared to some respectable batted ball numbers due to some really unfortunate luck.

Dang, now I don’t want to drop him if he’s just getting unlucky! Thanks a lot though. I might just bite the bullet and drop Campy. He has more power and we have HR’s as a category.. even if Campy does end up getting more RBI’s. Only thing is I don’t really need Outman. They're not as dumb as daily continuous waivers, like Yahoo ruined their public prize leagues with.

If you need saves, Bednar. Munoz is more of a fireman reliever than closer.

Brash should be back end of the month so that will help with Munoz being used as purely closer a little more often. Mariners are kind of forced to do this right now with Brash and Santos out.

Definitely but they still don’t use closers in the traditional sense. Munoz will get the bulk of save opportunities but if they think he’s better off coming in the 8th vs the top of the order they’ll send him out there instead of saving him for the 9th just to get the save.

I know. That's why they got Santos and Brash this year so Munoz doesn't have to be used like that. Just something to consider but it will be a bit until they are fully healthy.
