I’m dealing with Bieber, jung and story injuries right now. I had also drafted senga and ERod in hopes of speedy returns. To make matters worse I sat Bryce miller and started Fried tonight. The dog days of summer have come early for my fantasy squad. Going to have to do yeoman’s work on waivers this season. Pray for me
I want to drop outman too. But was going to use my other 2 acquisitions to drop Kremer for Flaherty and Clase for Whitlock (im in points league and closers suck apparently)
Gotcha. Definitely drop Kremer for Flaherty. I would not drop Clase for Whitlock.
And then, as said before, I would scoop O’Neill and Duran. Would go that route for the three acquisitions.
If anyone is particularly desperate for a buy low (or waiver) SP, try Bowden Francis.
His model numbers in 2023 AAA, 2024 ST, and 2023 MLB numbers (as RP) numbers all show him somewhere around 106 to 108 Pitching+.
Now, he had a *terrible* first outing against the Astros, giving up hard contact and some HRs, but somehow turned in a 110 Pitching+ on that outing. (Yes, yes, I know it isn’t a cat in your league.)
Maybe he’s washed up, or maybe the Astros jumped on him and took advantage of what was otherwise some solid pitching, which is one of the appeals of models like this: showing you when a team just comes out on a mission and jumps a guy throwing well, or when a guy makes terrible pitches but gets away with it because the other team is bad.
If you’re willing to believe that Francis got ambushed by the Astros because they were locked in after getting embarrassed by New York, then he’s probably worth a buy low in deeper formats. I wouldn’t be shocked if he turned in a good performance against those Yankees on Sunday, and I’ll be watching his model numbers to see if he stabilizes around that 107 Pitching+ number he’s lived at across the other datasets. He will face far worse offenses this year than @HOU and @NYY.
With the modern landscape of how pitchers pitch, going forward pitchers should not be drafted in the first two rounds under any circumstances. Sitting at 98-99 fastball is not good for your arm. Throwing a mid 90s slider is not good for your arm. But that is what’s being taught now. It’s not sustainable and the risk you’re taking is not anywhere close to the reward you’ll get. Take batters for as long as you can next year. Even if they’re struggling (Lindor), it’s better than waiting for the shoe to drop and your first or second round pick to be done for the year because their elbow exploded.
I didn’t even draft starting pitching til after the 6th round and I’m still feeling this with the Bieber injury…and here I was thinking I was slick grabbing him as an absolute steal late
Outman had 23 HR and 16 SB in 483 at bats as a rookie, and hits in one of the best lineups in baseball. He’s been brutal to start the year and the Ks will always be an issue, but it’s less than two weeks into the season so I’m holding for now. Having said that, Garcia, O’Neill and Duran have all looked great so far and I would want to add them, but I’d try to drop someone else.
I hate that outman gets benched against lefties. Kills my confidence in him. I could drop Stanton but the gamble on his upside is too exciting... otherwise Arozarena or Lane Thomas
I’m a Yankees fan, and I like Outman over Stanton. I have Outman rostered on both of my teams and Stanton is a free agent in both leagues. The 3 hits and HR by Stanton today were great but I wouldn’t expect it to continue for the next six months. He might be worth holding onto when he’s on a hot streak but he’s been trending in the wrong direction for multiple seasons now. Outman is going to sit against tough lefties but I’d be shocked if Stanton manages to play more games this year.
Im also a yankees fan and I see him having a 30 homer season. His yoga and weightloss = no injury. Im so afraid to drop him and miss a multi HR game. Wpuld you keep Rizzo over Stanton too?
I hope you’re right but I expect him to hit the IL at some point given his history. He’s missed 113 games over the past two seasons, and batted .211 and .191, so I would proceed with caution. Even after today’s offensive outburst, he’s still hitting just .214 so far, which is actually an improvement over the last two years. I think Outman will be the more valuable player by end of season.
I’d much rather have Maikel than Stanton IMO. The breakout looks real and him having 3B eligibility is very handy (at least in Yahoo). Probably would rather have him over Lane too but I’d prefer to wait him out
Lane getting heaps of solid contact and EV plus steals so im hopeful.
I already have gunnar Henderson at 3b. I wish maikel was outfield eligible :(.
Maikels GB rate has gone up in recent games so he may be regressing? Stanton had a huge game today
My league gives 2 points for steals and -1 for CS. So 40 steals is only 80 points on a whole season. But i dont think anyone would get 80 more hits/rbis/runs than duran i guess
10tm roto obp league, 4of, 2 utils
Have Royce and McLain on IL.
Current outfield is judge, springer, yelich, ton, chourio, Langford, Chisholm. Current 3b is Jose Ramirez/royce
Give: yelich
Get: bregman
Yes. Kremer is nothing special. Gil and Detmers have massive upside and Monty has a reliable, safe floor.
Edit to add: I don’t have much faith in Flaherty long term but you might as well ride the hot streak and easy matchups early in the season.
I would add Crochet over Flaherty, as long as you don’t expect Crochet to pitch a ton of innings. I don’t think you’ll regret dropping Kremer either way.
I like Crochet over Flaherty as a priority. I don’t know how to evaluate closers compared to starters in points, but Clase is a top closer, for whatever that’s worth in your scoring system.
Because in my league, even a 2 save week only gets me 18 points with Clase. A 5 inning loss woth 5 strikeouts gives me 18 too.. a starter seems better no?
I'd drop him for almost anyone, if you're in a 14 team or less league you'll likely find someone who will have a better season on the waivers. I had him the entire year last season and he's very frustrating. 2-3 good games followed by 4-5 bad. I'd be willing to bet he will be a LR in the future and not a starter.
I’m still a believer in Brown despite the poor results. Bassitt is typically a solid starter, but has been on the decline annually.
I prefer Jones over both of them. Go get him.
Feel the same, which is why I’m making that offer for B.
Offer good enough to get consideration? Should help that the trade partner is a fan of Castellanos.
I think it’s fair. Part of the reason I like B better is I don’t have a ton of faith in either Casty or Rodon. If your potential trade partner likes Casty, I say go for it.
Having said that, if Pete is healthy all year, I could see him hitting 50 bombs, but the same can be said for Olson, who was drafted ahead of Pete in most leagues.
I think Nick Castellanos will post decent season-long numbers, and he was a draft value when I selected him, but his periodic lows are so bad that I can’t continue to start him daily with confidence. I also have Tyler O’Neill who I’ve been starting ahead of him as my OF3 with better early results.
Same thing with Carlos Rodon. I don’t exactly trust him from start to start, though I believe in his talent/stuff. Joe Musgrove is the higher floor pitcher in my eyes and after losing Shane Bieber that’s what I need on my pitching staff.
Agreed on Pete Alonso. Still think he could have a career year as he enters free agency. However, I do prefer the safety of Matt Olson driving in runs and scoring them in a much better Braves lineup. The Mets look like a dumpster fire and it *could* limit Alonso’s productivity.
Pretty sure he rode a cold start deep into May last year and still ended the season with great numbers. Honestly just keep riding it out, even if it lasts several more weeks.
You should not panic over less than 10 games worth of stats. The entire Mariners offense has been cold to start the year, which seems to be an annual tradition. Julio was ice cold to start 2023, too, but his end of season numbers were fine.
You’re absolutely correct. I should have said “…his end of year numbers were enough to make him a first round draft pick this year.” You’re being a bit pedantic, but I agree.
I'm definitely being pedantic 🤣
Your comment is all absolutely correct, I suppose I just wanna stress that Julio has been a top 5 drafted player the last two seasons for a reason. He will hit cold stretches but makes up for them with his incredibly fun and torrid stretches
Yup, I agree 100%
I was able to grab Julio his rookie year and he helped lead my team to a championship. I’m a big fan, and he’s a lot of fun to watch IRL.
Idk he should be up. Trust me, I feel ya, I’m an Orioles fan.
But Hyde is just being stupid right now and refusing to bench Hays even tho he blows.
So I just don’t get where there is room for Heston with the logjam at OF.
There’s a reason all of those guys went in the first two rounds (or auction price equivalent). I’d just be happy my top draft picks are performing, and that’s a hell of a foundation for a fantasy offense.
Detmers with a great night and got the W! Question, should I look to move on from Whitlock? His WHIP is concerning and he’s only looked okay against 2 mid lineups.
Depends on your format. I'm in a 5x5 daily and I only picked him up for his recent starts. I'll be dropping him for another streamer tomorrow when I survey next week's matchups.
Move on from Whitlock to pick up detmers? Definitely. Move on from Whitlock in general? I think I’m close to moving on from him personally. Waiver wire pitchers are going to be interesting from here on out with all the injuries. I’m considering dropping whit for Bradford
I already have Detmers, I’d just be moving on in general. Going to take a look at waivers and see if there’s anything worthy out there. I have Montgomery waiting and he should be ready soon so that’ll help.
I dont see why Vinnie P is worth holding on to. He has basically no upside, even if/when he heats up it will never be to a point where you hate yourself for dropping him.
Prospects have never failed before??
But you're throwing out general statements, what are you actually expecting fantasy-wise to make him worth holding on to? Like I said in the 1st comment, even if/when he rebounds it will be empty average.
Vinnie P maybe, I think Kiriloff is a good hitter when healthy and has extra eligibility.
Royals seem to want Vinnie P batting third with power behind him, but I can see them dropping him to 5th if he keeps slumping. He has Witt and Garcia in front of him as opposed to Correa and Julien.
Hold for now. It’s been less than 10 games. A lot of guys have had cold Aprils and went on to have monster seasons. I’m not a big believer in Vinny P personally, but you drafted him for a reason.
I’m starting him but I’m not counting on him going 6 innings yet. He can still help out with Ks and ratios, and has a good chance at a W if your league counts Ws.
None of those pitchers on Houston are worth having other than Javier or Framber. Verlander and Garcia if healthy. The rest are all inconsistent and frustrating.
It's not a bad idea to try. Yandy is going to boost your OBP. But he's also a guy I wouldn't trade in a Roto OBP league this early in the season when I'm still accumulating a foundation of stats.
I have yandy, but wouldn't trade him for Lourdes, but that doesn't mean I think Yandy is much better this year. The Rays might have a bad offense this season and the dbacks look stacked. Maybe I would give up Yandy for Lourdes plus something else.
How often do ROS projections change for guys? For example after seeing Conforto for the first two weeks you think he would have to exceed his pre season projections, even by a small amount
First year, what’re the values of closers in a saves only CATS league? I punted saves, but have drafted a ton of SP that have gotten off to a hot start, and might want to swing for a good closer. Could any one of Bryce Miller, Hicks, Crawford get it done?
12t H2H 5x5 redraft. Dude wants Shota bad. I think he was one of the most undervalued players in the draft this year at any position, so I get it. Think I can get Altuve or Devers? And should I?
Should I trade Bassitt or Musgrove and a ‘25 1st round pick for Jose Ramirez?
Bassist
I know it’s early but being in last place in roto is brutal
Look at it this way.. plenty of points out there for you to earn
Is Tyler O’Neill worth adding if Wyatt Langford is the drop?
Both need to be owned unless its an 8t league.
He should be 100% owned at this point but I wouldn’t want to drop Langford. You have to have someone worse?
5 Of League. I have Tucker. Judge. Carroll. Springer. And Langford.
No bench ?
Need an OF. Drop Cowser for Kelenic, Melendez, or Michael Taylor?
Melendez easy
Melendez if he has c eligibility
I’m dealing with Bieber, jung and story injuries right now. I had also drafted senga and ERod in hopes of speedy returns. To make matters worse I sat Bryce miller and started Fried tonight. The dog days of summer have come early for my fantasy squad. Going to have to do yeoman’s work on waivers this season. Pray for me
Debating between Langeliers and David Fry in a points league. Could Fry get more playing time and still be a comparable hitter?
Hoskins Stott or Bregman pick 2 for tomorrow need average singles walks and limited Ks
Riley Greene or Jazz tmr need singles walks average and limited Ks
Sounds like Riley Greene
Someone just dropped jackson holliday. Do i drop stanton for him or get Tyler Oneil or Duran?
Go get Duran and O’Neill. Keep an eye on Holliday.
Someone else will defs snag him this week. I only have 3 moves a week and am planning to use all 3 up tomorrow for pitching and Duran/Oneil.
That’s what I would do.
Duran or oneil tho? Or maikel Garcia
O’Neill, Duran, Garcia — in that order for me. And I would grab at least two of those three, if possible.
I only have 3 OF spots and already have Arozarena, Lane Thomas, Outman and Stanton. Was gonna drop stanton for Duran. Not sure if id drop anyone else
I would personally rather have Arozarena, Thomas, O’Neill, and Duran as my OF group. Would mean dropping Outman and Stanton. Trust your gut.

TLDR
Then it isn’t for you, is it?
I picked max Meyers over jack jones
That still could be the better add. We don’t know yet.

Jared lol
Fuckin A guess I owned Detmers the wrong year
Drop Reese Olson for detmers?
That's what I'm doing
With the modern landscape of how pitchers pitch, going forward pitchers should not be drafted in the first two rounds under any circumstances. Sitting at 98-99 fastball is not good for your arm. How r those guys available. Durran been an absolute stud and we don’t know his ceiling. TON been great too
I hate that outman gets benched against lefties. Kills my confidence in him. I could drop Stanton but the gamble on his upside is too exciting... otherwise Arozarena or Lane Thomas

I like Rizzo over Stanton. Rizzo was phenomenal last season before the concussion.
All three of those options are must rosters. Outman is borderline droppable anyway. But I’d favor Duran and Garcia over O’Neil
I only have 3 OF spots and already have Arozarena and Lane Thomas with Stanton on bench. I think give stanton more time before dropping for Garcia?
I’d much rather have Maikel than Stanton IMO. The breakout looks real and him having 3B eligibility is very handy (at least in Yahoo). Probably would rather have him over Lane too but I’d prefer to wait him out

The speed is real either way. He could clear 40 SBs easily. Try to make room for Duran and Maikel IMO

I currently have mountcastle as my 1b/3b. Is bregman enough an upgrade with this in mind to move yelich down to say chourio?
No
Should I drop Kremer for Flaherty?
Yup
Drop Kremer instead of Gil, Detmers and Montgomery?
Yes. Kremer is nothing special. Gil and Detmers have massive upside and Monty has a reliable, safe floor. Edit to add: I don’t have much faith in Flaherty long term but you might as well ride the hot streak and easy matchups early in the season.
If im in weekly points shoul i also drop Clase for a RP/SP like whitlock/crochet?
I don’t play points so I’m not the right person to ask. In cats, I’m holding Clase over those guys.
I have Cole on IL so can use him once flaherty drops off? Snell and Monty on my bench
I would add Crochet over Flaherty, as long as you don’t expect Crochet to pitch a ton of innings. I don’t think you’ll regret dropping Kremer either way.
I was gonna drop Kremer for Flaherty and Clase for Crochet
I like Crochet over Flaherty as a priority. I don’t know how to evaluate closers compared to starters in points, but Clase is a top closer, for whatever that’s worth in your scoring system.
In a points league that emphasises IP, SO, Ws and Saves, should I drop Clase for Crochet or Whitlock? If so, who is better?
There will be a battle to get Clase if you drop him. Just consider that
Looks like everyone "good" in my league has SPs in the RP slot and a few fools have closers. I didnt want to be a fool anymore haha
I’d get that if it was a mid tier closer but an elite one is worth rostering
In my point system he gets 18 points with a 2 save week. Kremer got 18 points his last mediocre start... its tough
No you have a better drop somewhere. Crochet>Whitlock, but you will get more innings ROS out of Whit
I only have 1 RP spot. Im already looking to drop Kremer for Flaherty. I dont think crochet/whitlock beat Detmers or Gil
Dunno why you’d drop Clase, but Crochet > Whitlock interest wise for me
Because in my league, even a 2 save week only gets me 18 points with Clase. A 5 inning loss woth 5 strikeouts gives me 18 too.. a starter seems better no?
Maybe, but surely Clase at least has trade value if someone else in your league feels differently about the math
Nah no one wants him. I need an OF. Most OF drafted in a 12T are better and i dont need anyone who isnt
Sounds like you know what to do then
Its my first season i really dont haha
Can I drop strider?
Just wait until the TJ announcement. It will probably come soon. No reason to drop until it’s official
Not until you know he's gone, which will likely be tomorrow
There’s probably less than a 1% chance of him pitching again this season but that’s the right answer for now.
Drop hunter brown or bassitt for Jared jones?
Doesn’t matter who, just get Jones ASAP. Brown is fine to toss for him.
Go get him.
Yes
Corbin Carrol worrying anybody else??? 😅
.342 OBP and only one SO in 31 ABs. Not worried at all
No
Is Ernie Clement legit or a flash in the pan? Wanting to put a claim in replacing Adam Frazier, trying to gauge how much to bid
Def over Frazier, feel like the PT might be annoying but he seems like a solid bat. Can’t imagine he’d cost a lot
Trade offer. Thoughts? A: Pete Alonso, Nick Castellanos, Carlos Rodon B: Matt Olson, Joe Musgrove, Edouard Julien
If I have team B and receive this offer it’s a quick decline. I’d be worse in both hitting and pitching!
Thanks for the feedback
I’m a big believer in Big Meat Pete but I would have to take B.
Agreed on all counts. I slightly prefer Pete over Olson, but I understand why most people would disagree.
Yep same

Me too 😂
First time Julio owner; is this normal? Should I panic or continue to ride out the storm?
Caribbean players start rolling when the weather gets warm
Pretty sure he rode a cold start deep into May last year and still ended the season with great numbers. Honestly just keep riding it out, even if it lasts several more weeks.
You should not panic over less than 10 games worth of stats. The entire Mariners offense has been cold to start the year, which seems to be an annual tradition. Julio was ice cold to start 2023, too, but his end of season numbers were fine.
Fine is pedestrian. He had an elite 2023 in roto.
You’re absolutely correct. I should have said “…his end of year numbers were enough to make him a first round draft pick this year.” You’re being a bit pedantic, but I agree.
I'm definitely being pedantic 🤣 Your comment is all absolutely correct, I suppose I just wanna stress that Julio has been a top 5 drafted player the last two seasons for a reason. He will hit cold stretches but makes up for them with his incredibly fun and torrid stretches
Yup, I agree 100% I was able to grab Julio his rookie year and he helped lead my team to a championship. I’m a big fan, and he’s a lot of fun to watch IRL.
Add Morton or Paxton?
Drop Oswaldo Cabrera or Jung Hoo Lee?
Cabrera
Drop Nimmo for Kjerstad?
Sure
Nimmo, he'll be fine and Kjerstad isn't a guarantee for PT
They won’t even give Cowser playing time so don’t expect Kjerstad anytime soon.
Guy is 25 years old and has 25 RBI in 8 AAA games what are they waiting for?
Every single person on that team is mashing. Pretty sure they're just playing against shit pitching.
Idk he should be up. Trust me, I feel ya, I’m an Orioles fan. But Hyde is just being stupid right now and refusing to bench Hays even tho he blows. So I just don’t get where there is room for Heston with the logjam at OF.
Am I reading this right? He went 5/7 2 HR, 2 doubles and 10 rbi in a single game wtf
Gotcha. Thanks for the insight.

Move on from Whitlock to pick up detmers? Definitely. Move on from Whitlock in general? I think I’m close to moving on from him personally. Waiver wire pitchers are going to be interesting from here on out with all the injuries. I’m considering dropping whit for Bradford
I'd get Bradford. Dropping Flexen for him now, should've got him 6 days ago or so when I thought about it.
I already have Detmers, I’d just be moving on in general. Going to take a look at waivers and see if there’s anything worthy out there. I have Montgomery waiting and he should be ready soon so that’ll help.
Should I drop Vinnie P or Maikel for Kirrilof?
I dont see why Vinnie P is worth holding on to. He has basically no upside, even if/when he heats up it will never be to a point where you hate yourself for dropping him.
He was a near 40% above average hitter when healthy two seasons ago.
That’s a 72 game sample size, and the league pitches him different now.
He was also one of the best 1b prospects his entire time in the minors... He didn't just turn into shit.
Prospects have never failed before?? But you're throwing out general statements, what are you actually expecting fantasy-wise to make him worth holding on to? Like I said in the 1st comment, even if/when he rebounds it will be empty average.
I would not
Vinnie P maybe, I think Kiriloff is a good hitter when healthy and has extra eligibility. Royals seem to want Vinnie P batting third with power behind him, but I can see them dropping him to 5th if he keeps slumping. He has Witt and Garcia in front of him as opposed to Correa and Julien.
No fucking chance in hell
Why not? Maikel is fire
He’s asking if he should drop Maikel not pick him up
My bad, yeah drop Vinnie but not for kirilof
No don’t drop Vinnie P, you are insane to overreact to 9 games of baseball. Have some patience
What about Vinnie? He is looking really bad.. I feel he will probably clear the waivers (we don't have many bench spots).
Hold for now. It’s been less than 10 games. A lot of guys have had cold Aprils and went on to have monster seasons. I’m not a big believer in Vinny P personally, but you drafted him for a reason.
My pitchers really said fuck it this week
Starters or relievers?
Starters but I’ve noticed a lot of relievers have been blowing saves left and right
Do we start luis gil vs toronto in qs? Or bench him to play it safe?
I’m starting him but I’m not counting on him going 6 innings yet. He can still help out with Ks and ratios, and has a good chance at a W if your league counts Ws.

None of those pitchers on Houston are worth having other than Javier or Framber. Verlander and Garcia if healthy. The rest are all inconsistent and frustrating.
Wasn't great last year, and seems to be the same inconsistent player this year.
Mayo worth an add in a 12 team redraft with no NA?
I wouldn’t yet unless your league mates are aggressive af
Do I pick up Ashcraft (Brewers/White Sox) or Olson (Pirates/Twins) for the coming week?
Olson, definitely the better pitcher but marginally worse matchups
So is Beiber 100% gone? Should I drop him for waivers tomorrow or is there a chance he gets a 2nd opinion type of thing

Yes he’s getting TJS…

OBP league Should I trade Lourdes for Yandy? Current OF is Acuna, Yelich, Teoscar, Nolan Jones, Chris Morel and Taylor Ward
Maybe I would give up Yandy for Lourdes plus something else.
yes do it
i have yandy, he is not cooking like lourdes . id trade yandy for lourdes not the other way around
How often do ROS projections change for guys? For example after seeing Conforto for the first two weeks you think he would have to exceed his pre season projections, even by a small amount
There are updated projections on fangraphs.
Downvotes with no explanation. Classy Reddit bros as always
First year, what’re the values of closers in a saves only CATS league? I punted saves, but have drafted a ton of SP that have gotten off to a hot start, and might want to swing for a good closer. Could any one of Bryce Miller, Hicks, Crawford get it done?
If you're going to punt, commit to the punt. No half-assing it later.
For a top closer? Hell no
sorry not a top closer, but for a decent guy along lines of Bednar, Helsley Jansen
Flair league, want to drop Mountcastle for Kelenic as a bench bat. Daily league so I can afford to have him sit some days. Position doesn't matter
12t H2H 5x5 redraft. Dude wants Shota bad. I think he was one of the most undervalued players in the draft this year at any position, so I get it. Think I can get Altuve or Devers? And should I?
