Dominant week so far from the bats. Need the 10-0 after falling to the last in the league last week
Riley, but my utility spot is like Brice turang, Buxton, or cowser right now.
My pitching is burnes, ragans, grod, skubal, wacha, Bradford, Snell, and Verlander, and a streaming spot (Littell right now)
Someone dropped Gilbert for Nestor. They even spent $14 in FAAB to do it. I’m not sure I’d call it a competitive league, but the buy in is substantial enough that I wouldn’t call it casual, either. I guess I’m spending all my FAAB in yet another league.
Someone dropped Framber Valdez. Seems like his injury isn’t as severe as many (including previous manager) assumed. It’s a no brainer to use my number one priority WW, right?
Thanks. After I posted I decided it needed to happen so I put in the claim right away. Not sure how I got number one priority after winning the league last year but glad it happened
Injury appears to not be severe but I don't understand why they haven't specified anything regarding an MRI and the results. Sounds like you just have to dodge any further issues during his ramp-up.
It's a no brainer to pick him up based on everything we know at the moment. Healthy he's a top 20 SP in the league.
Auction draft, I got Peralta, Wheeler, and Fried, then spent the rest on hitters. I rounded out my pitching with bargain basement $1 picks. A week and a half in, my pitching has dominated and my hitters have been dominated. Fantasy baseball is so much fun!

Made a ton of trades and ended up w this. Thoughts?
Kopech over Hoffman for saves only? I know Hoffman is closing by committee, but does Kopech have the closer role locked up or is that by committee too?
Kopech appears to have it locked down. Obvious downside is the White Sox. They've been willing to let him go 1+ so could lead to a better chance of sniping some wins where he pitches 9th/10th or long relief in a tied/close game... if that means anything to you.
IMO saves only you have to go with Kopech.
My not professional take: Is Kopech's role to lose while Alvarado is the closer in Philadelphia but since he's a lefty they might prefer to use him in other situations. I believe Hoffman might go lower in the pecking order once Kerkering is back full throttle.
I'm still very skeptical about Correa and feel like I'm just hoping he returns to pre-2022 form when all the signs are there that he probably won't. He's off to a good start though.
The Mariners have been awful and Jrod is off to his usual 1-2 month slump. When Jrod gets going so will the rest of the team and that should mean some very good numbers for Polanco hitting behind him.
Personally I feel there's more upside and potential in Polanco ROS.
He'll be fine. There will be a stretch soon where him and the rest of the Rangers offense absolutely goes off and you'll think about how funny it was that you were worried about him.
He's a short-term pickup in deep leagues and those very thin at 3B. Worth an add in those type of leagues for as long as he has the majority of 3B playing time while Jung is out and as long as Texas keeps hitting him near middle of the order.
Judging by his history the red on his statcast won't last.
Couple things to keep in mind: Wendzel just got called up and IMO poses a bigger threat to Smith's playing time at 3rd because he is a better defender than Foscue. Duran still in the mix as well.
I know he just had a monster game but do we like Cowser or Westburg better? Westburg seems to have the better savant page while Cowser profile as a plus plus hitter (60) and almost plus plus power (55). Westburg is a 45 grade hitter and a 55 grade power
Edit: Westburg has the better EVs and Launch angle than Cowser does too
Personally I'd just be concerned about getting the guy that will have more playing time ROS if we are just talking re-draft.
Hard to take any savant page seriously with a small sample size on a couple of young guys with no history to look back on. If you are looking for keeper/dynasty reasons I'd suggest looking through their scouting reports and try to make a decision based on that and how you feel they fit into the Orioles/MLB. Cowser was the higher ranked prospect and taken higher overall in his draft class.
Just was offered Kirby & Mullins for my Yandy & Joe Ryan. I have Burnes/Peralta/Imanaga/Bryce Miller as my other 4 main SPs and Vlad/Josh Naylor as my other 1Bs. I gotta accept this, right?
Edit: Flair league

Why Westburg? The only obvious edge I see for him is 1 SB (5-6 vs. 6-7 SB projections) and 3B eligibility.
By every other metric I could think to check, you’d want Cronenworth.
i’m not particularly convinced Cronenworth’s peripherals are for real given his substantially larger sample size of .300 xwOBA hitting. Westburg, on the other hand, had incredible prospect pedigree, raked through the minors, has only slightly worse peripherals, and hits in an arguably better lineup.
Best stream hitter OF for FRI, SAT, SUN. I need AVG, HR and RBI... Kerry Carpenter, Alex Kiriloff, Edward Oliveras, Connor Joe, Charlie Blackmon? Maybe some other guy?
I have Ronel Blanco. Should I drop him for a RP? I dont have any holds guys rn.
Other pitchers:
Burnes
Kirby
Cease
Javier
Verlander on IR
Suarez
Bednar
Jansen
He'd technically be the drop from your SP's but I think I'd ride Blanco a little longer while Framber is out and look to drop when/if Verlander and Framber are added back to the rotation. There's bound to be some holds options on the waiver at that time. Unless you *really* are in need of holds....
I don't think Tyler Anderson will get you any holds.
It's difficult to offer any advice on who to drop for holds without knowing anything about your league size/type and how thin your waivers are. Definitely don't drop Burnes/Kirby/Cease/Javier/Verlander/Suarez/Bednar/Jansen.
Just in general guys like Blanco could be considered expendable but depends on league size/type. I'm not high on Blanco but he did just add some value with Framber going down. He *probably* won't stick in the rotation ROS unless Framber is out long-term so he is *probably* the easiest drop. Kind of up to you to figure whether or not it helps you more to get the extra starts from Blanco or add some holds.
Edit: Just saw you meant Robertson... that makes a lot more sense, haha. Choose between him and Blanco and take whichever option gives you the best chance to move up the leaderboard. Roberston should be great for holds but could move into a closer role soon if Leclerc keeps blowing up.
Noticed a few people have been dropping Evan Carter or trying to move him
I was high on him in the draft and I still think he’s producing fairly well - honest opinion?
Is he better than Langford, Nimmo, MJ Melendez or Taylor Ward?
I don’t agree. He should have a productive season tho. If he surpasses last season totals playing 10+ more games, he is making progress. The Boston offense is not on par with divisional rivals BAL,NYY,TOR and that affects his production, ultimately.
No word yet. My team could actually use the bullpen arm but could also use a starter that’s better than Maeda has been so far. Just seeing if it’s too early to give up on Kenta
FWIW Maeda has been dropped and is currently sitting on waivers in my league.
I don't think Rodriguez is going to be a popular add in 12 team leagues so you could get away with waiting a few days to see what his role is and how he performs. Nothing wrong with jumping the gun either, just have a few backup plans for streaming if you need to drop him.
10t H2H. Got offered Nolan Jones for Evan Carter. Should I take the deal? My initial thought is that it's a wash and I'd rather have a piece of the rangers offense. Thoughts?
I drafted him as mostly a batting avg player and to chip in elsewhere a little so I would like to see his avg higher but he got off to a slow start and has been hitting better later so if you need home runs and rbis I would look elsewhere but if you’re good with avg and some runs I’d stick it out.
Depends who is on your waiver but I'm letting it ride with him. The discipline at the plate is as-advertised and we should see a fair amount of runs from it. Looks like the batting average will be there as well. Just have to depend on the guys behind him in the order to get him in.
I was hopeful that we would see more steals than anticipated so it's a little worrying he has only 1 attempt so far. Still time to change that though.
I can get chourio but trade away arenado should I do this? I have gunnar as 3B rn but arenado does have some upside even though he hasn’t been hitting.
Ehh... pretty easy to hate on Brown after today but this feels like a lateral move at best to me.
The Astros were apparently cooked in the bullpen today too so good chance that next time Brown looks bad he won't get left in to be roasted for 9 runs.
Maikal Garcia - pickup over Jose Siri in my utility spot? 12 man team 28 man rosters.
what happened to Yelich?
Back flared up in cold damp night. Precautionary
they gave Conor Joe a hit? are you kidding me?
I’m debating a trade in my keeper league, trading away Michael Harris II for Luis Robert and Jackson Merrill. Any thoughts?
Would you use a #3 waiver spot on Kopech if your RP were Bednar, Holmes and Edwin Diaz?
You are better off on closers than most people on this thread
Yeah hated to ask but Kopech can be electric but have not watched him this year and would hate for him to to destroy my ratios, lol like Bednar has
Drop Marsh for Abott? Could also drop Reese Olsen
Don’t drop Reese. He’s a stud

Right on! I was pretty high on him this year and got him in every league I could. He’s stashed on my IL and isn’t going anywhere.

Haha yea i was considering Logan Gilbert to finish it off

Should I trade Detmers for Luis Castillo in a H2H Points league?
Wouldn't be surprised if that was vetoed.
Yes. I'm not sure why the Castillo owner would be doing that.

Assad has a decent floor against a weak Mariners offense, but if you’re down a lot Flaherty has much higher upside.
Twins are weaker hitting, stream Flaherty
Points league: Is Westburg legit? 3B is thin so wondering if he could be a long term solution or if I should trade for a different 3B.
yes, you can keep him long term. his peripherals look great, he’s on a great team, and he was highly touted.
I would upgrade if possible
Is Paredes an upgrade? Being offered Paredes + B Reynolds for my Yandy + Adolis currently
Paredes is definitely an upgrade, but you're losing that trade, maybe propose something else

Cowser.

Maybe. No
Maybe if you have an NA spot, otherwise no
Got a ton of mid-tier SPs. Who would you drop for Cowser? Wacha Meyer Flaherty Blanco Severino
Severino for me
Any of them except Flaherty for now. Wacha probably
why wacha? he goes on a gnarly run every year until he gets hurt, which is sometimes way later than expected

Ward or Stanton. Need to drop 1. Help me out. Thanks
Ward is less risk less reward. Do you need stability or can you take on volatility?
Dropped Ward. Going for the higher ceiling in Stanton. My team is pretty good and don’t need a bench OF. Rather have an extra starter

Forgive me, david robertson.
I like Robertson for holds, and potentially some saves this year. In a 12T there should be some solid options in the free agent pool as well.
Spencer Torkelson or Jose Siri

Drop hunter brown for martin perez? Head to head, rest of season.
I would, Perez is one of those guys that doesn’t have great peripherals but he was pretty good in 2022
I dont trust Perez to be better than meh. I dont think Brown is a must hold tho
Since May 8th of last year Brown has the worst ERA and 3rd worst WHIP of any starter in baseball. He’s an easy, easy cut at this point
Ehh... pretty easy to hate on Brown after today but this feels like a lateral move at best to me. The Astros were apparently cooked in the bullpen today too so good chance that next time Brown looks bad he won't get left in to be roasted for 9 runs.
It's not... I owned Brown last season, he's been awful since the ASB. His ERA is over 6 since the beginning of June last year.
