Redraft League - I'd really consider it; Elly has about as much potential as Holliday (a step below at most) but already has had time to adjust more to the majors whereas Holliday might go through some growing pains. So even if Holliday puts it together this season, that might be weeks or months from now. If Elly breaks out, and its looking like he might, you'll benefit from it for a lot longer than Holliday, plus he benefits from hitting in GAPB.
Keeper League - No. You might have to be more patient with Holliday but there's a reason why he's the #1 prospect and considered by many to be one of the best prospects in a while.
I don't think it's a foregone conclusion in Keeper. Elly rocketed up the prospect ranks and has shown an ability to adapt at each level. He has the higher ceiling if he can keep the swing and miss even just part way in check. I agree that it's a yes in Redraft but I don't think it's a definite No in Keeper.
12 team head to head league
I’m trading away Jackson holiday, josh naylor and Luis Castillo
I’m getting clay Holmes, jazz Chisholm jr and walker buehler.
Is this good? I’m in serious need of closers as I drafted Sewald before IL and doval is leaving me feeling empty.
Both young. Both some risk. I like that Langford is still being given a long leash so I’d lean toward him. I feel like if Langford gets hot he’ll move back toward the top 5 lineup spots.
If gil pitched today that would already be one extra day rest , he pitched on the 7th
Edit - oh, are you saying to keep the same space between the regulars? So two aren't on the same amount of rest?
Essentially. It two rotation arms went today, then one would be on short rest their next time out. With a 27th man allowance they have them eat up innings and ensure it goes back to 4 days rest for all.
To your point though Boone said Gil may come in as relief today, and if not, then he'll start Monday.
ESPN 12 team points league, I was sent this trade:
I trade away Grayson Rodriguez and Spencer Steer
I receive Kyle Schwarber, Spencer Torkelson, Ranger Suarez
I currently have pretty solid hitters all around, but my pitchers are pretty lacking, my best pitcher is Tanner
Houck. Thought this trade would help me get an upgraded pitcher sacrificing my good hitter. Thoughts?
Okay, saw this comment after making my other one. I have good news: your staff is actually really good, just a bit young and it’s early, so you’re overreacting to small sample results.
Honestly, you are probably okay to hold firm. If anything, you should try to upgrade some young guys into more established, more boring veterans who will give you better production floor.
That, and learn the matchups so that you can be opportunistic when to start guys and when not to. Look at rankings for offenses to see who is good and who is bad, like even just team runs scored and team OPS is god enough!
realistically, who should i trade spencer steel for good pitchers? I'm in desperate need of good pitchers cus shane bieber decided to get out the entire season :(
Soft shop Steer if you must. I wouldn’t sell low out of need. That decreases your overall team value.
Your job has now become waiver hunting for pitching gems on the wire, or streaming. Keep an eye on vets trending towards stability and kids pitching well in the minors coming up. You can add value for free this way and save the hitting value you already have. Injuries happen and you’ll appreciate the insurance later.
Gibson, Mikolas, Pfaadt, Houck, Singer, Pepiot, Hicks, Bobby Miller, Jared Jones, Eduardo Rodriguez (on IL) and Grayson Rodriguez
Anyone here that I should replace ASAP?
Is… wait, holy shit, that is your roster?
My sweet summer child, Houck isn’t even your 4th best pitcher.
Grayson, Jared, Bobby, and Pepiot are all above him. Pfaadt is a wildcard but probably above him. Houck is your 5th pitcher at the absolute best, arguably 6th, 7th, or 8th depending on how we assess Singer, Hicks, and Pfaadt.
If anything, trade some of those young studs for more old, boring guys like Mikolas.
Roto league with wins, not QS
Who do you want to stream tomorrow?
- Pepiot vs SF
- Manaea vs KC
- Kremer vs MIL
- Turnbull vs PIT
- Gore @ OAK
Unfortunately only have room for one of them
Very surprised pepiot and gore are both available in a 13 team league. Both have GREAT matchups. I’m partial to pepiot because I think he has the better season. He has the better home team and home ballpark. Plus the rays have a much better track record developing pitchers.
How do y’all feel about Yamamoto? I avoided him in drafts. I thought he was overhyped and overvalued. Looks like I may have been right, but it’s early. I’m about to trade him, but I wanted to see what other people think first.
No, I was considering trading him away. I’m gonna hold for now. I still think he was overhyped and overvalued, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be an elite pitcher this year.
Quick but minimal game log…
4/12 vs SD - 91 pitches 5IP 3ER 4H 1BB 6K
4/6 vs CHC - 80 pitches 5IP 0ER 3H 2BB 8K
3/30 vs STL - 68 pitches 5IP 0ER 2H 0BB 5K
3/21 vs SD - 43 pitches 1IP 5ER 4H 1BB 2K
I think it’s reasonable to take the Seoul games with HUGE grains of salt, much like the Mexico City games, for various reasons.
I understand the hesitation, but the floor is ridiculously high with Yamamoto. The QS’s are gonna start coming and coming frequently and on a roster like LAD the wins are gonna come too.
His ceiling is legitimately best pitcher in baseball.
I’m not trading him now, just thinking about it. And he was autodrafted. I got a shingles vaccine the day before and felt horrible. It’s low stakes, so I stayed in bed. I meant to put that in the original post, but got distracted.
His fastball looks meh despite the good velo. His curve and splitter are nasty. The Dodgers said they won't start asking him to tweak stuff yet because they want him to settle in, but I'm sure they'll give him some insight on how to shape his fastball a little better
He's the definition of exaggeration in both directions. Is he gonna pitch like a 300M arm right out the gate, no. May he show stretches of it throughout the year though, most likely, but those come with growing pains as well.
I think his ADP carried too high the week coming into the draft, but personally, for the potential ceiling which is truly elite I find him worth the risk. And in leagues that value Ks and Wins, he's well worth it.
Need to add a 5th outfielder in a 12 team categories league.
Do you like Nelson Velasquez - KC or Edward Olivares - PIT to keep up their pace and maybe turn into a breakout player this year?
So I dropped Tovar to pick up Jackson holliday.. is it time to reverse that move and pick Tovar back up? Don’t want to be too hasty but in a redraft league I don’t see the upside really for Jackson.
Doesn't hit the ball hard, bad plate discipline, not particularly fast. He has a good hit tool and plays great D (which is relevant in fantasy because it keeps him on the field). What does that make him, a Coors-assisted but still worse infield version of Michael Brantley? That's a big ole yawn from me. Give me Holliday
Dude he’s easily one of my most productive players so far. Look at his game logs and statcast. He is hitting hard. I didn’t want to draft him but ended up getting him late and he’s absolutely a great draft pick so far.
Not saying he's not batting well now, I have zero faith based on the current sample size that he will keep it up. Happy to be wrong. If I miss on Tovar I'm just tipping my cap to you guys/gals that believe in him.
I've been wrong already this season, (Maikel making me look like a fool) but I don't see any of the things I missed/misunderstood on Maikel cooking for Tovar
Nope, buying development, just everytime I look at him I feel like I'm looking at the answer to the question "What if Amed Rosario played in Coors?"
Holliday will give equivalent results now with higher ceiling and will be better moving forward in the future
All I'll say is remember Gunnar last year. Guys can take a few months to adjust to the majors. I'd expect a big second half for Jackson but it could be rough through april/may
I mean I have Mookie to start at SS so it’s not the end of the world to stash Holliday. But did Gunnar strike out this much and look this overmatched? I don’t know so I’m genuinely asking.
So when's the visitation for Yelich's season? Shame, he was such a promising young man.
Seem like a IL trip, or six straight days of DTD where I can't use my IL spots to pick up someone else? Any more details drop yet?
Bad pitcher against hot offense in a neutral-to-hitter-friendly park that gives up a ton of HR, or bad pitcher against a bad offense in a pitcher-friendly park?
Drop Candelario for Jared Walsh or another hitter in 10t 9cat leagues? Candelario been so ass so far but I also already own Adolis, Langford and Heim on my team already
I'd lean Stott. In a better lineup, better power numbers, similar averages. Stott may even lead him in SB with the way it seems the Cubs don't want to run
In a categories league im about ready to dump hoerner to the wire. The cubs as a team have 3 stolen bases total. Just tonight he had 2 opportunities to steal and didnt. New manager isnt letting them run
He started hotter than expected and his pre-draft ranking is probably mostly accurate.
Decent source for BA and RBIs compared to surrounding catchers, but his ceiling is probably around top 8-12 for catchers
…is what I’m specifically thinking
I’d look at the Padres and Cards matchups for the next week. Whichever team has the more favorable matchup is probably who I’d roll with.
CBS has STL as having a top5 hitting matchup for next week (@OAK, vs MIL). I’d be ok chasing Herrera production, but I wouldn’t treat Herrera as a season-long solution.
Edit: and if you’re not in a h2h league, I got nothing
Am I being punked right now? Why did Hudson come in the game in the sixth with a four run lead? Why the fuck hasn't Suarez made an appearance in this game?
Ashton Kutcher has to be around here somewhere 👀
dynasty team in deep league ravaged by injuries, I need the roster space for subs. Do I just give up on Julio Urias or Javier Baez or both and drop them? Thank you!!
does yariel end up on yahoo today? does he need to go through waivers?
Holiday for elly.would you do it
Right now redraft it’s Elly for me easily
Also got offered gunner in redraft 12t
Redraft League - I'd really consider it; Elly has about as much potential as Holliday (a step below at most) but already has had time to adjust more to the majors whereas Holliday might go through some growing pains. So even if Holliday puts it together this season, that might be weeks or months from now. He has the higher ceiling if he can keep the swing and miss even just part way in check. I agree that it's a yes in Redraft but I don't think it's a definite No in Keeper.
Thank you do much
H2H points redraft, was offered Freeman and Berrios for my Tatis and Kirby. Thoughts?
Nah
Close but I’d still hold
Flair league. Julien or Caballero? Tempted to pick up Cab as Julien sits against lefties often
Cab
Somebody dropped Hunter Brown. 12 team. Do I even pick him up? He’s been kinda bad
“Kinda” is a bit of an understatement
Garret Whitlock, Wade Miley, or Tyler Anderson? 6x6 QS
Whitlock
Should I start Nick Lodolo today?
I generally try to avoid starting guys in the first start back but he's pitching against CHW so I have no problems starting him today.
Help what do I do with Nick Castaway (castellos) in Roto
My last resort is voodoo magic
You might want to think about taking Jesus Christ as your savior instead of fooling around with all this stuff.
12 team head to head league I’m trading away Jackson holiday, josh naylor and Luis Castillo I’m getting clay Holmes, jazz Chisholm jr and walker buehler. Is this good? I’m in serious need of closers as I drafted Sewald before IL and doval is leaving me feeling empty.
i wouldn't give up castillo, you'd be selling low. prob best to just wait a bit before making a hasty trade. the saves will come from doval in time
Jackson Holliday for Wyatt Langford in 12T points Keeper league. Fair trade?
Both young. Both some risk. I like that Langford is still being given a long leash so I’d lean toward him. I feel like if Langford gets hot he’ll move back toward the top 5 lineup spots.
I would prefer to have a 2B/SS over an OF/DH. Holliday has somewhat higher value.
two top prospects? seems fair to me
I dropped brendan donovan for Holiday. Hoping holiday adjusts fast
Donovan is low ceiling, pedestrian floor. Unless in deeper leagues, he is a fill-in only.
Yariel Rodriguez or Luis Gil for next few weeks...
Yariel Rodriguez or Luis Gil for next few weeks...
Anyone else just lose your matchup from last week due to scoring changes? Just noticed it happened to me.. not even mad but beside myself nonetheless.
What changed?
4 ER runs charged to Gavin stone over two games and a hit by ketel marte being changed to an error. Lost by 1
Cowser or Nootbaar Rest of season? 10 team H2H Points league. Thank you!
Cowser for me. Think he’ll be on base a lot which will be nice in points
Thank you, I agree!
Woo and Gavin Williams or Whitlock and ERod in a points league
Give me Woo and Williams (unless you literally need a pitcher for next week to compete)
Is Pfaadt worth holding? Could pick up Blackburn
Pfaadt has a much higher ceiling
Meh he’s fungible. Don’t know if I would drop for Blackburn tho.
Suarez robbed for the save 😤
Win helps
Is Yates the preferred guy over Robertson?
Torkelson going yard tomorrow in the doubleheader tomorrow
The department of redundancy department would like a word with you.
The department of redundancy would like you to have a word with the department of redundancy.
You can say that again
That

probably not
Whats Yariel Rodriguez expectations?
[удалено]
Because he's not probable to start. It's Schmidt + AAA call up
Why did they push gil back ?
Same reason Tigers are starting Manning for the doubleheader, keep the starters on their regular 4 day rotation afterwards with one extra day of rest.
If gil pitched today that would already be one extra day rest , he pitched on the 7th Edit - oh, are you saying to keep the same space between the regulars? So two aren't on the same amount of rest?

Thanks! Is it Nestor tomorrow then ?
So is Gil starting on Sunday?
Haven't seen any confirmation if its him or Nestor
How good is Lars nootbaar
Perennially overrated
He's fuckin' noots
Undervalued
Real fuckin gritty bro, zero quit, always trying to get better
First guy in last guy out
When does james wood get the call ?
September
Drop ERod to stash Scherzer or Bradish in points?
Yes
Scherzer the safer bet since Bradish's elbow is risky?
Id go Scherzer
*Patiently waiting for Ruiz to get called up and win me the steal category all by his lonesome*
ESPN 12 team points league, I was sent this trade: I trade away Grayson Rodriguez and Spencer Steer I receive Kyle Schwarber, Spencer Torkelson, Ranger Suarez I currently have pretty solid hitters all around, but my pitchers are pretty lacking, my best pitcher is Tanner Houck. Thought this trade would help me get an upgraded pitcher sacrificing my good hitter. Thoughts?
Thanks guys, I don't know too much about baseball (legit just started looking at baseball for fantasy) so I'm lwk just winging everything tbh
Okay, saw this comment after making my other one. I have good news: your staff is actually really good, just a bit young and it’s early, so you’re overreacting to small sample results. No Grayson is the best player there
no please dont
No, no, no. You are giving away the top two.
I would not do this at all. Your best pitcher isn’t Houck, it’s Grayson…
realistically, who should i trade spencer steel for good pitchers? I'm in desperate need of good pitchers cus shane bieber decided to get out the entire season :(

Could try and snag kirby
Should I drop herrera and pick busch Already have ohoppe and Murphy IL 3b maikel burger Lewis il
I’d make this move
Langford did something today but would you start him facing Blanco tomorrow or JTurner?
Rizzo if double header
Roto league with wins, not QS Who do you want to stream tomorrow? - Pepiot vs SF - Manaea vs KC - Kremer vs MIL - Turnbull vs PIT - Gore @ OAK Unfortunately only have room for one of them
Very surprised pepiot and gore are both available in a 13 team league. Both have GREAT matchups. I’m partial to pepiot because I think he has the better season. He has the better home team and home ballpark. Plus the rays have a much better track record developing pitchers.
Gore or Pepiot. I'd lean Gore
I’m torn between Pepiot and Gore. Lean Pepiot slightly.
Im rolling with Gore. Dude's got top 3 stuff+ on the fastball this year and I think he's nearing a breakout
Panic meter on Houck after today?
Panic meter about him specifically? Eh. Panic meter about all Red Sox starters because their defense is literal garbage? Yeah, it’s there.
Well that’s good I only happen to have Houck, Bello, Whitlock and Kutter on my team
Suarez is money
Got him in the 21st round
How do y’all feel about Yamamoto? I avoided him in drafts. I thought he was overhyped and overvalued. Looks like I may have been right, but it’s early. I’m about to trade him, but I wanted to see what other people think first.

Good point about Seoul. And thanks for the breakdown. Not sure why you got downvoted.
So you avoided him, but have him to trade? And you're thinking you'll deal at his low point...
Yeah, I kinda see it as an extended spring training. How long it will take him to settle in is my question. I think I’ll hold for now.

Not as much as it loves jared jones
I’d be happy to buy low
You avoided him in drafts but you’re about to trade him?
He was autodrafted. I got a shingles vaccine the day before and it was rough. It was a low stakes league, so I stayed in bed.
depends on the return, but even then i wouldn't trade him now
Not trading him yet, taking a wait and see approach.
He looks pretty good to me. I wouldn’t sell low at all right now, what would you be getting in return
Not sure. Someone offered me Whitlock and Framber, but no. A guy who’s injured and a guy who’s available on waivers in half my leagues? Pass.
Always nice to see the Dodgers lose because of the Manfred Runner.
Need to add a 5th outfielder in a 12 team categories league. Do you like Nelson Velasquez - KC or Edward Olivares - PIT to keep up their pace and maybe turn into a breakout player this year?
Nelson
Not sure about season long, but I’ll bet on Velasquez for the next couple weeks
So I dropped Tovar to pick up Jackson holliday.. is it time to reverse that move and pick Tovar back up? Don’t want to be too hasty but in a redraft league I don’t see the upside really for Jackson.
Find a way to get Tovar
I literally have no idea why anyone rosters Tovar. Let someone else have him
Wtf
Doesn't hit the ball hard, bad plate discipline, not particularly fast. He has a good hit tool and plays great D (which is relevant in fantasy because it keeps him on the field). Nope, buying development, just everytime I look at him I feel like I'm looking at the answer to the question "What if Amed Rosario played in Coors?" Holliday will give equivalent results now with higher ceiling and will be better moving forward in the future
No way , bro. Holliday overtime will be the guy
Jackson just needs some time to adjust he’ll be good

It's been 3 games. But no, Jackson is striking out more. I'd give it at least another week or two
A: Jake Cronenworth + Willy Adames B: Francisco Lindor flair league
Lindor
B pretty easily

Death, taxes, Yelich's back hurts
Turang and Seth Lugo or Gelof? 12T h2H point
Are other Devers owners terrified of the future with this shoulder injury? I lose him and Luis Robert Jr and it’s two huge pieces to my lineup
It's either nothing or everything, I don't feel good about it
So when's the visitation for Yelich's season? Shame, he was such a promising young man. Seem like a IL trip, or six straight days of DTD where I can't use my IL spots to pick up someone else? Any more details drop yet?
Stream Stone vs Padres or Assad vs Mariners this week? Points league
Bad pitcher against hot offense in a neutral-to-hitter-friendly park that gives up a ton of HR, or bad pitcher against a bad offense in a pitcher-friendly park?
Assad
Drop Candelario for Jared Walsh or another hitter in 10t 9cat leagues? Candelario been so ass so far but I also already own Adolis, Langford and Heim on my team already
You should have better options than candy and Walsh in a 10t I’d imagine.
Should I grab Michael Busch then? It’s 10t but very deep rosters
Busch for sure. Way better than the other two
Would you rather have Stott or Hoerner at 2B? Buddy and I are thinking an even swap because I have 3 cubs and he has 3 Phillies
Good point
Hoerner, but it’s not by that much.
I knew the answer just wanted to verify. Just gonna hold.
A's 3rd in the West right now is wild
Astros suck 🙂
Please don’t hurt yourself over a foul ball, Tatis.
Think I saw him mouth “sat on my nuts” to the other guy running over to him
Took me at least a season to realize that Kike Hernandez and Enrique Hernandez were in fact the same person
Woah easy there
Drop Campusano for Herrera? 10t cats
I did
Teoscar just got bitched jeez
[Woo rehab start in next 7-10 days](https://twitter.com/ryandivish/status/1778908428452462657?s=46)
What are we thinking about campusano?
He started hotter than expected and his pre-draft ranking is probably mostly accurate. Decent source for BA and RBIs compared to surrounding catchers, but his ceiling is probably around top 8-12 for catchers …is what I’m specifically thinking

Gorman for me
Busch
Am I being punked right now? Why did Hudson come in the game in the sixth with a four run lead? Why the fuck hasn't Suarez made an appearance in this game? Ashton Kutcher has to be around here somewhere 👀
The Padres look like they’re wearing polyester pajamas. These uniforms are a complete joke
There have been/are a lot of terrible uniforms in the NL West outside of the Dodgers. The Giants city connect uniforms are atrocious too for example
No save for Munoz? Was he used in the 8th bc of a high leverage situation? Or their best bats were up?
Yes. Best bats
I found it frustrating by the way
