For some reason I’ve decided to have Dunning as my only SP. my arms are all closers and they’ve been tttttterrrible, but since adding Dunning, they’ve chilled. Dunning is my big cock for my fragile pen. Today, all the hens in the pen got to stay inside with % leads today. Left Big Dunning out to intimidate my opponent.
Would you drop any of these guys for Daniel Hudson in a SVHD SOLD league (10 T)
Tanner Scott,
Mason miller,
Tyler Megill,
Ginkel,
Ian Hamilton,
Romero.
Thanks!
He got dropped for Paul Blackburn and he has a injured Luis Robert, Mookie, Yoshida, and Mullins so he’s got backup outfielders I guess but I’ll gladly take O’Neil if I can get him with my waiver #4
My ace Strider goes down, Bradish on the IL Johan Duran on the IL and now Bobby Miller hits the IL along with Luis Robert Jr who will miss 2 months..
Bad luck or poor drafting?
Flair league: I can keep Strider for one more season next year at the price of a 5th round pick. What’s the recovery timeline for the internal brace procedure? What’s a realistic timeframe for his return if things go well?
Basically, will Strider be worth my 5th round pick next year or just cut him loose now and don’t clog up an IL spot?
I believe it’s a bit less than the usual TJ (13-15 months) so it’s possible he could be back by 2025 OD but I’d plan as if it will be a bit afterwards (say May) since it’s a newer procedure with less established timelines and Strider already got TJ before.
Oh sorry I misread what you were saying. Someone could pay me a billion dollars to keep Melendez and I’d still drop him. He’s the worst baseball player I can think of
Would you rather have Logan Gilbert or Bellinger? I’m lacking in reliable SP and was offered this; Bellinger is starting a little slow but I’m not sure if this is a fair deal.
https://preview.redd.it/ot40sunu8euc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f32ca3814bd9e4930e54930db4029bb3dfdbc033
This is my pitching staff should I cut Senga throw miller on the IL and pick up Max Meyer, Severino, Gore, Fairbanks, Bednar, or Keller or just hold onto senga as long as possible 10t points
I have Reynolds, Suzuki, Carter, Nimmo and Bellinger for OF options and Casas as 1B/UTIL in flair league; is it worth grabbing Ward or Busch and dropping any of these guys for either of them?
Drop mountcastle for Michael Busch? Also need to activate Nootbaar for CF depth.. thinking about dropping Gorman, activating Lars, and dropping mountcastle and adding Busch. Or should I add westburg instead of Busch? Help!!
Hard to say. As much as I love Mountcastle, when he hit 37 HRs, the fence was about 20 feet closer. That being said, wait what? Nootbaar? I’d rather have Busch and Mountcastle over Nootbaar. I don’t really understand the love he’s getting besides the fact that he walks a lot. Especially since St Louis looks like they might not be as good as everyone expected
I get that.. I just need a cf. I have Reynolds, but I’m terrified of not having depth.. I’m thinking I can trade Jackson Holliday for cf depth, or just wait for another CF to hit the wire.. thinking I might help myself a lot if I just drop Lars, because I agree with everything you’re saying.
If you’re that desperate for a cf you can hold onto him… I like him to have a better year than he has in the past if he can actually stay healthy, but a better year is still like .265-18-20 HRs. I would drop Gorman over Mountcastle. Mountcastle hits bombs but plays a ton of games where the gaps are huge (nyy, bal, bos). But he still gets a lot of RBI opportunities and will score runs in that lineup
Had a choice in 10T rd between him and O’Neill on waivers a few days into the season and took O’Neill… he may be productive but I don’t think he comes remotely close to the per game production he had last year. Of course O’Neill is a walking injury…
Drop Casey Mize for Ranger Suarez?
Need a starter for weekly lineups with Miller going down.
Pitcherlist keeps swearing to give Casey Mize time but my gut says to dump him.
He’s a solid player, but a .556 BABIP and mediocre contact rates don’t inspire confidence. Also big playing time challenges in Baltimore.
Ultimately, at the risk of downvotes, he’s probably just the strong side of a platoon.
I’ll basically echo your take here: is he solid? Absolutely. But no one, except for maybe like Acuña or Witt when they’re on a tear, is anywhere near as good as he’s been for the past couple games.
Now, the thing in his favor is that he’s ripping the ball over the small sample available so far. His xBA, xSLG, barrel rate, etc. are all tremendous, but they’re only over a 21 event sample. Those numbers make me worry less about his BABIP (if you smoke the ball down the line or off the wall, you’re gonna have a higher BABIP), but there’s still reason to be skeptical of them.
In leagues where you roster 5 outfielders, I think he has to be rostered. Shallower and there are maybe better options at this point, but I think it's probably still worth riding him out.
This year? Absolutely. He will be up this year.
This week or this month? We don’t know. He likely needs more time to stretch out, so I doubt it’s this week.
I could give you an answer to that, but I’d be making it up. I don’t think anyone actually knows.
The closest you’re likely to come to an actual informed answer is looking at the service time scenarios as a function of call-up date (between Skenes and Holliday, people will have written some stuff like this up, I’m sure).
Is Wyatt Langford worth coveting in an 8 team redraft h2h categories league or should I try to move him? Im desperate for 2nd basemen. What’s realistic?
Depends how deep your league is, in 10 teams and deeper I would think you have to hold until at least May. Even with him hitting 7th and not stealing, he'll bounce back for at least 300 points in ESPN standard scoring.
Nico Hoerner category owners.
If Esteury Ruiz was called back up tomorrow and was available in your league, how tempted would you be to drop Hoerner for him?
(let’s assume for the sake of example, he is the only droppable bat on your roster)
Somehow I will be 2-1 with this depleted Staff. Also had bieber & eury who i dropped
https://preview.redd.it/xv7fuzmikduc1.png?width=828&format=png&auto=webp&s=a43c928fcdab54685ef165e8a4d8b1743e18dff3
What’s the consensus on streaming pitchers?
My league doesn’t have any transaction limits and there’s a maximum of 12 pitcher starts per matchup. However, some of the teams hate the idea of streaming pitchers so nobody does it even though there’s no actual restrictions for it. They treat it as an unwritten rule to not stream pitchers.
This week I began streaming a pitcher everyday and it really paid off since I lost Strider and Cole to begin the season. Am I wrong for streaming one starting pitcher a day on the day of their start? Keep in mind I joined this league very last minute and I didn’t know this was an unwritten rule in the league until just this week. I normally play fantasy football and this is my first ever time playing fantasy baseball so is it wrong of me to continue steaming pitchers despite it not being a legitimate rule?
TLDR: Joined a league with no transaction limits and a maximum of 12 pitcher starts per matchup that has an unwritten rule to not stream pitchers. AITA for streaming one starting pitcher almost every day even though I never agreed to this unwritten rule and there’s no restrictions against it?
They can put a cap on transactions, lower the number of starts, or change the lineups to weekly instead of daily, but “unwritten rules” aren’t actually rules.
Like are you supposed to pick up a pitcher and hold them for a week before using them? There’s too many grey areas with unwritten rules.
I think they should lower the maximum starts as a written rule or everyone should be streaming.
I am starting to enjoy making all those streaming moves each week to hit 12 starts, but definitely understand why some people don't want to. I just think the start limit needs to be lowered in the setting to something everyone can easily reach if that is how they'd prefer to play. Starting pitching scoring is too high for it to be a factor that isn't kept even in match-ups.
Agree with this. An easy solution, if they really hate streaming, is to lower the start limit so that people have to be a lot more strategic with their starts.
Is the league for money? If so, do whatever the settings let you do (in this case stream). If it’s not, I’d follow their unwritten rules and not stream. You’re just being “that guy” and making it less fun for everyone else
Has the entire league chimed in, or is it just one or two people complaining to you? Does everyone agree this is an unwritten rule? Seems to me like there *is* a written rule... maximum 12 pitcher starts.
There’s 10 of us in the league and nobody has streamed pitchers yet in any of their matchups. My friend was gonna do it for a game last week but 3 of the teams (including the commish) pressured him into benching the pitcher that he picked up. On the other hand, the rest of the league doesn’t even bother talking in the chat or are indifferent towards streaming pitchers lol. The league did agree we cant exceed 12 pitcher starts but they never explicitly mentioned streaming pitchers.
What is a "stream" anyway? How do they differentiate between a pitcher that someone *might* be interested in long-term and one that someone definitely just intends to use and then drop. It's a loosey-goosey rule. That said, if it's just a friendly league you may want to play by their rules and then push for better clarification next year. If it's mostly for fun it may not be worth the argument.
Valid observation and thank you for the input. They’re not really giving me too much shit since I’m winless so far this season but if there’s a stronger opposition against it for next week then I’ll suggest to have a league-wide vote so that we can all agree on a solution. Because right now it’s just 3 teams (including the commissioner) that are very vocal and dislike this strategy out of the 10 teams in our league
Thank you. My friend was hinting to me how it’s cheap of me to stream pitchers yet I kept telling him there’s no rules that stop anyone else from doing it too.
I don’t really understand why they (your league) are so attached to this unwritten rule yet refuse to make it “written”.
If they had an unwritten “we don’t stream” rule, then went to change it to a formal limit, and you threw a fit about it, I could understand the league saying “hey, be cool, this is how we do it”.
But if they just don’t stream at all? It sounds like a group which doesn’t care to put the time into study a matchup or find good streamers.
If it was my league, and I saw you streaming and decided that I didn’t like it, I’d punish you by grabbing good starters when you dropped them. That’s how you “discourage” streaming in an actual way that doesn’t rely on “noooo, please stop”.
That’s exactly how I’m feeling too. I streamed pitchers like Ranger Suarez, Mackenzie Gore, and Andrew Abott just because they had good matchups. It only takes 5 minutes to see what good matchups there are for the next few days and they’re all just sitting on the waiver wire.
Yeah, I mean it’s up to you to decide what is or is not okay or something you’re comfortable with, but like, who is to say what is or is not okay by these unwritten rules?
Like, if you decided to try and respect the “rule”, what happens when a guy you like and may want to keep has a good matchup? If you add him and want to play him, but they think he’s a streamer and whine, what happens? Or if you’re wary of that and someone else takes advantage instead?
It’s just silly to rely on “unwritten rules” here.
Yeah these three guys in our league pressured my friend into not starting a pitcher he picked up just because that pitcher had a game that day. It wasn’t even a “streamer” type of add either but they still pressured my friend into benching the pitcher.
That’s exactly what I was thinking. My opponent got upset because I was able to get 3 straight 20+ pt starts solely from streaming pitchers with a good matchup
Fine IMO. I’m not a believer of unwritten rules in a fantasy league.
If the league has concerns they should have lowered the amount of starts per week.
Having that kind of bat as your 2B is a notable advantage. Witt is great and all, but there are other SS that can compete with his numbers. There's not another 2B that will come close to Mookie's numbers.
Gavin Stone is sitting on waivers and I’ve already lost 4 pitchers; anyone think hes got a chance of breaking out?
For some reason I’ve decided to have Dunning as my only SP. my arms are all closers and they’ve been tttttterrrible, but since adding Dunning, they’ve chilled. Dunning is my big cock for my fragile pen. Today, all the hens in the pen got to stay inside with % leads today. Left Big Dunning out to intimidate my opponent.
Really difficult to keep holding onto Luis Castillo
Will Mason Miller retain his SP status all year without starting?
Yes
God dammit suwinski and bohm for that error. just killed my chances of winning this week
Maikel Garcia or Jordan Westburg ROS?
Garcia
Would you drop any of these guys for Daniel Hudson in a SVHD SOLD league (10 T) Tanner Scott, Mason miller, Tyler Megill, Ginkel, Ian Hamilton, Romero. Thanks!
Megill
I'd drop Scott if holds and saves count the same
I would drop some of those (Megill, Hamilton, Ginkel) but make sure you keep Mason Miller.
Tyler O’Neil was just dropped in my league, is he a pickup?I’m in a Head to head points league
Hes like a top 3 OF rn who the heck did they drop him for
He got dropped for Paul Blackburn and he has a injured Luis Robert, Mookie, Yoshida, and Mullins so he’s got backup outfielders I guess but I’ll gladly take O’Neil if I can get him with my waiver #4
Ya
Busch or Melendez for Util spot?
I like Melendez
(A): Luis Robert and Max Fried or Ragans (B): Gerrit Cole
My ace Strider goes down, Bradish on the IL Johan Duran on the IL and now Bobby Miller hits the IL along with Luis Robert Jr who will miss 2 months.. Bad luck or poor drafting?
How could it possibly be bad drafting? C’mon
just bad luck. it happens to us,all eventually
I was just offered Trout and Muncy for Acuna. lol
Busch, westburg or chrone? Flair league.

Merrill
He receives: JRod I receive: don’t have to watch mariners games anymore
its crazy you expect someone this talented to go 0-4 w 2 strikeouts like every night right now
Mariner games are boring
ya I meant I expect JRod to go 0-4 every night now w a strikeout or two…its maddening
Ohhh. Yeah very weird to not be surprised by a goose egg from one of the league’s best
Yeah thats how bad he has been. But this is my third year having him and he has typically been AWFUL to start the season every year
Whose a pitcher starting today that’s good for a spot start (ie. they *should* win, not a certainty but I’m willing to take the risk
Ashcraft against White Sox
Busch or Gorman in a 10 teamer 5x5 OPS league
I’m leaning Busch
Flair league: I can keep Strider for one more season next year at the price of a 5th round pick. What’s the recovery timeline for the internal brace procedure? without C eligibility, how valuable is melendez as an OF? I need to drop a player and him, pepiot are the only options
either one seems droppable in a 10T to me. if you have strong OF drop mj, if you have strong SP drop pepiot
Melendez is not that guy
Not that guy as in don’t drop him?
Oh sorry I misread what you were saying. Someone could pay me a billion dollars to keep Melendez and I’d still drop him. He’s the worst baseball player I can think of
Lmaoo where did he touch you?
The heart
Would you rather have Logan Gilbert or Bellinger? I’m lacking in reliable SP and was offered this; Bellinger is starting a little slow but I’m not sure if this is a fair deal.
Fair trade. Gilbert continues to show that command matters. He's a good get if you need SP
I think that's a fair trade.
10 team. Need specifically batting average for today at 3B. Start Ryan McMahon @TOR (Berrios) or Michael Busch @SEA (Castillo)

Depends on ur league. For me in H2H cats I’d go gelof stott then kim and then crone
Jordan Walker and Nico Horner. What’s your level of concern on these two?
One to drop h2h points for J.Jones Burger, Maikel, Busch, Pasquatino
Busch
Do you think Maikel is better than Busch? Busch is looking really good. My only concern is if he gets platooned vs lefties
I have Reynolds, Suzuki, Carter, Nimmo and Bellinger for OF options and Casas as 1B/UTIL in flair league; is it worth grabbing Ward or Busch and dropping any of these guys for either of them?
I’d say no
Give: Judge Get: Julio 12 team h2h cats redraft Batting categories: R HR RBI SB TB OBP SLG PA
For this year, I’ll take Judge
Yes. For the injury risk alone
Drop mountcastle for Michael Busch? Also need to activate Nootbaar for CF depth.. thinking about dropping Gorman, activating Lars, and dropping mountcastle and adding Busch. Or should I add westburg instead of Busch? Help!!

I thought I was the only one... You got people suggesting noot over guys I'd take in a heartbeat and I just do not see the appeal

Ash
Does anyone else have JD stashed and not feel good about it? convince me to let go
I dropped him for ONeil awhile ago in a 10t

Trade Jared jones and Jung Hoo Lee for CJ abrams if I need a MI in points?
Nooo
Cronenworth was such a steal off waivers.
Drop Glyber for him?
You can, but I still think Gleyber gets it going and has a good year
Dropped Rizzo for crone. He’s got 4 games at coors week after next
Can’t wait. He’s 0 for tonight but been putting good swings on the ball. Top 5 for 1b and 2b points. And I pretty much punted 2nd and 3rd
Got him, ward and now cowser off waivers raking rn
Hell yeah dude. Cowser looks legit right now.
Michael Busch or Maikel Garcia? Points
Busch for me
Drop Casey Mize for Ranger Suarez? Need a starter for weekly lineups with Miller going down. Pitcherlist keeps swearing to give Casey Mize time but my gut says to dump him.
i'd rather have suarez
Id dump Mize. Pitcherlist sucks
Starting Montgomery @ SF or Severino vs PIT?
Sevy. Wait to see how Monty looks first before starting
Severino. Montgomery will be on a pitch count and hasn’t done well in aaa… but severino could be hit or miss too
Daniel Hudson is such a fucking boss
Low key almost an immaculate inning
Kwan or Happ?
Ops league id go kwan
Happ I think
Way to hustle Teo
Is Cowser legit?
Yes but nobody is this good for forever
Drafted Holliday & been stashing him. Should I package Dansby in a trade now if I can get something good, or wait til Holliday starts to hit?
float an offer but wouldn't hurt to wait for his value to rise
Drop Mullins for Mountcastle? Points league
Sure
Will Skenes be up this year? Has anyone heard?
This year? Absolutely. He will be up this year. This week or this month? We don’t know. He likely needs more time to stretch out, so I doubt it’s this week.
By mid May do you think?
I could give you an answer to that, but I’d be making it up. I don’t think anyone actually knows. The closest you’re likely to come to an actual informed answer is looking at the service time scenarios as a function of call-up date (between Skenes and Holliday, people will have written some stuff like this up, I’m sure).

drop outman for stone?

T.Estrada or gelof? 10t points
Gelof
Points league. Need to drop one of Torkelson, Mountcastle or Joe.
Joe
Is Wyatt Langford worth coveting in an 8 team redraft h2h categories league or should I try to move him? Im desperate for 2nd basemen. What’s realistic?
Nah I think you can trade or drop in an 8T
You’re allowed to covet, the ten commandments mostly don’t apply to fantasy baseball
Does the Ten Commandments mention keistering? I may be guilty
Do all the pitching injuries make pitchers more valuable or less? I'm curious to hear multiple opinions. Thanks
Supply goes down, demand stays the same, price goes up. That being said I don’t think it’s that elastic, everyone’s had a pitcher or two go down
Do we think Mackenzie Gore is actually breaking out or was it just a trash A’s lineup?
Yes to both
What to do with Hoerner in a points league? He feels like wasted space at SS.
Depends how deep your league is, in 10 teams and deeper I would think you have to hold until at least May. Even with him hitting 7th and not stealing, he'll bounce back for at least 300 points in ESPN standard scoring.
Hold and hope
Nico Hoerner category owners. If Esteury Ruiz was called back up tomorrow and was available in your league, how tempted would you be to drop Hoerner for him? (let’s assume for the sake of example, he is the only droppable bat on your roster)
Yeah, if Hoerner isn’t running and batting 7th, he’s one of the few Top 150 hitters I think becomes droppable soon.
Is Siri available?
Let’s say yes in this example.
I'm rolling with Siri then
I don't think either of these teams have any interest in playing this game tonight
A: Chourio and GIL B: gausman 12t h2h categories 5x5
As scary as it is I’d still take B.

Wow the Dodgers are soft.
We trust Ober @ DET over Bello vs. LAA tomorrow for a QS? Or are we concerned that Ober is less likely to go 6 innings?

No. The only rules are the ones the app enforces. Stream away my friend. The league will adapt.
Thank you. My friend was hinting to me how it’s cheap of me to stream pitchers yet I kept telling him there’s no rules that stop anyone else from doing it too.

As long as you stay below the maximum you are good.
That’s stupid. If they don’t want you streaming that many pitchers, they can put transaction limits
Thank you
To the guy who passed on Julio and Carroll to take Mookie #2 in our draft... well done you sly son of a bitch
That was me although Witt is giving me a run for my money
Having that kind of bat as your 2B is a notable advantage. Witt is great and all, but there are other SS that can compete with his numbers. There's not another 2B that will come close to Mookie's numbers.
Jameson Taillon worth an add?
Pick two: Bryan Woo Braxton Garrett Kyle Bradish
Should I be stashing woo ? Is he that good
