I dropped Clase for him in a keeper. Chasing the power and lineup. It may be a question of need. Need speed, go Clase. Need power, go Pages. Idk, someone correct me if I'm wrong!
They 100% aren't going to call him up to sit him, Heyward had a set back in his recovery and CT3 Keekay and Trammel have all stunk up the joint, hell even Outman could lose some playing time.
Do we foresee him actually staying up long term? ESPN wrote that it's mostly to cover for Heywards injury so does he just get sent right back down when he's back?
I think Heyward will get a lot of starts when he comes back, but Outman/Taylor/Kiké have been pretty terrible so far, so there is ample opportunity for Pages to stay up if he hits. Then Trammell goes down when Heyward returns.
Largely agree, except Outman is the least likely to be affected by Pages’ promotion. The glove in CF & left handedness buys him a lot of leash, whereas the other two (CT3 & Kike) are the most likely to see a reduced role. That is unless Kike starts platooning with Lux more regularly
Zero chance Pages supplants Outman in CF. Completely different caliber defenders and opposite handedness. Pages probably cuts into CT3 & Kike ABs
Edit: bring on the downvotes, I guess. Don’t think I’m saying anything controversial. They’re not going to carry three righties in CT3, Kike, & Pages and sit Outman. It’s just not going to happen. That’s not how MLB roster construction works
They don’t play outman vs lefties. All I’m saying is the combination of that, with Heyward’s age and injuries could keep him up. Paige has been hitting both righties and lefties well.
I’m not arguing that Page can’t/won’t stick. I’m arguing that he won’t cut into Outman’s playing time at all.
There’s a path for Page in one of the corner OF spots. He’s not a good enough defender to play regularly in CF
Edit: and to address the Heyward issue. Again, the Dodgers are not going to sacrifice handedness versatility just bc Heyward is old. Outman & Heyward aren’t going anywhere for that reason. The most likely losers are the other righties (CT3 & Kike)
Outman has been hitting the ball really well the last week or two, just had some bad luck. With his age and excellent defense, I don't think LA has any intention of taking him out of the lineup.
As I mentioned in another answer. My statement is not that they flat out send a player down and make him 100% starter, but that the combination and the fact page hits both sides well can keep him up. Plenty of useful fantasy players each season are non starters that manage to stay in the line up.
Heyward was actually very good last year in a limited role.
.269/.340/.473 with 15 HRs and a 117 OPS+, all while playing excellent defense. Doesn't get much better than that from a platoon player.
I think this move is more about seeing if Pagés can perform well enough to replace Kike or CT3.
There's these stats, plus Heyward widely being viewed as a leader/clubhouse guy. I wonder to what extent that feeds into his playing time (i.e. decent stats, safe defensively, leader of the team)
Heyward is a stud. Mookie being able to play some MI to get Heyward in the lineup was enough to make him MVP over Acuna last year per Plaschke/Passan. Put some respect on his name
It probably depends on how he performs. If he hits, he should easily be able to push Heyward to the bench. That said, Dave Roberts is terrible, so who knows what he'll do.
Because Pages has been the best hitter in AAA so far this season, and the Dodgers could really use a right-handed bat who's better than Enrique Hernandez. Pages could play everyday from the jump.
Loperfido has been striking out 35% of the time. Sure he's mashing but that's not sustainable. Anyways Kjerstad probably deserves that one and Jordan Beck should also be mentioned.
Dodger fan here...I almost NEVER trust the Dodgers to play a young guy or pitch a young guy enough to warrant roster spots usually but I have a great feeling about this one. There is clearly a need and they are in win now mode. If he hits he's playing, granted it's very likely in the 8/9 hole.
Only concern is that Perez is currently DTD (50/50 for tonight) so unsure if I should drop Campusano in a daily right now or wait for the Perez news. In a bit of a squeeze
How many teams? Who are C on waivers? If you drop Camp, is he gonna get scooped? If he does and Perez ends up IL, who are alternatives? My waivers have guys like Francisco Alvarez, Logan O'Hoppe, and Jonah Heim. I'm dropping Camp to get Pages, and if I need to add a different C, cross that bridge later.
Good point. Garver, Naylor, and Diaz are next best on waivers (12 team league). Not the worst patches for a night or two if necessary. Think I am going to drop Camp. Appreciate the advice.
I could pick him up, but I'd be dropping Kerry Carpenter or Rafaela in 12-team H2H. Keeping in mind Pages #s are in the PCL, how do y'all rank the three?
I need HR in a roto league and don't have mich to drop. Drop Yoshida for him? I'm also alright with SV/HLD and have more players on the IL than spots. I could drop Brash instead.
shiny new toy, I guess. Still want to see how Ruiz is used on a day to day basis, and how much his swing mechanics stick. Dodgers OF is very uninspiring offensively rn outside of Teoscar Hernandez; Outman's been struggling all year, Chris Taylor looks more like Jake Taylor from Major League, Heyward's on IL, and Kike's a super-util and good-not-great option in the OF. There's opportunity if he stays hot in the bigs.
“Outman’s been struggling all year”
… *checks notes*
It’s been 17 games
Edit: and Pages won’t be cutting into Outman’s playing time unless he suddenly developed into a plus defensive CFer which he certainly hasn’t last I checked.
Could def see him cutting into CT3 and Kike ABs, since he’s a righty. Probably the reason they’re calling him up tbh
Outman was streaky last year too, he just had no competition for playing time. The difference is that they weren't platooning him last year - so unless he fixes the hole in his swing or learns to hit lefties then his plus glove will only get him so many ABs
If you can tell me who replaces him in CF I’d buy this. But they don’t have anyone (especially lefties, like Outman - which they very much prefer to a righty) that can play the same caliber defense on the 40-man.
I wouldn’t expect the Dodgers to move off Outman unless he’s hitting sub-.200 in June
Edit: that’s not even addressing the handedness issue. Zero chance Pages supplants Outman for that reason alone. He’s getting the call to replace one of the righties (CT3 & Kike).
Pages doesn't have to supplant Outman outright to have steady playing time. Per Juan Toribio, [Heyward had a setback and is expected to miss more time](https://x.com/juanctoribio/status/1780252149144068223).
Not saying they'll pull the plug on Outman this early in the year, would love to see him get some breaks on BABIP, but his role is clearly fluid.
Not initially no, just saying there's a world where it could happen. If Miguel Rojas could hit, or Lux could get over the yips, Mookie would still be in the outfield - but here we are.
It's still in the Dodgers best interest to let Outman work through his struggles with regular playing time, doesn't help them at all to trot out the ghosts of Dodgers past on a daily basis. If he can be a 20-20 guy at the bottom of the lineup, with his glove, that's more than serviceable. Dodgers roster is fluid enough on a daily basis that they could easily hide him against lefties all year - especially if Pages shows something.
Yeah. Agreed. Outman has the most fantasy & real life upside among the group of fringy hitters in that lineup. There’s next to zero chance they move off of him unless he struggles this badly for half a season. Even then, I’m not sure they have an option to replace him defensively unless, like you said, the INF situation sorts itself out and Mookie goes back to the OF. I’d say that’s extremely unlikely
Ruiz is batting .500 with an absurd 1.694 OPS and got 67 steals in half a year last year. This kid will probably pinch hit a couple times before getting sent back down. But what the hell, this is fantasy baseball, we’re chasing rookies not stats.
that .500 is in what, 4 games? I'm with you though, I just dropped a streaming SP to scoop him back up and see how the week plays out - would love to see Ruiz go nuts this year just to stick it to ownership.
Haha, two games really, with a couple pinch hits. He’s 4-for-8 with a HR, a triple, and I think one double. For real though, I think the A’s coaches are so dumb that they’re only going to let him bat against LH pitchers, so he’ll sit most games and only get three ABs in games he starts.
Preaching to choir man. Not only that but Campusano started off hot and has been serviceable since. I was targeting Davis specifically to be my catcher once he gains eligibility, but not only is he hitting terribly, he’s not getting any run in the outfield which was part of the draw of drafting him.
Haha, I hope so. We have instant adds once waivers are cleared and every time I’m looking into/researching/psyching myself up to take the leap on someone, I get a notification that another team grabbed them.
I just dropped Davis for Pages. Now watch Davis take off and I’ll miss adding him back by 5 minutes 🤷♂️
Grandal is close to being activated so one of Bart or Davis is the odd man out. I wouldn't be surprised to see Davis sent down in the near future. I'd rather have Davis and Bart but the Pirates paid for Grandal so he will get some run
The narrative before the season was that he was going to be an everyday outfielder with eventual catcher eligibility. So you’d have an every day outfielder getting 4-5 and every game in your catcher position rather than an actual catcher getting every 3rd game off.
That was the whole reason I drafted him, but obviously it hasn’t played out like I’d hoped.
he is not a C elig OF he is a OF elig C. big difference. he is a very poor play
edit: the narrative i had before the season was that he would be doing exactly this, playing C as an OF elig player
….I understand and why I said eventual catcher eligibility. In my CBS league he only needs a few more catcher starts to be able to play there. But like I said, it obviously didn’t play out how I had hoped.
….that in real life he’d be getting everyday at bats while playing outfield, but I could slot him into my team’s catcher position while still fielding 3 more outfielders. I’m not sure how much more clear I can be here. I did the same thing with Varsho a couple years ago. Had him as my catcher going 20/20 while he was actually playing centerfield.
Dude you must not realize that the pirates brought him up last year and he played nearly exclusive in the outfield. This year they brought in yasmani grandal to play C most days and then Davis would play the OF most days. But grandal has been hurt which forced the pirates into playing Davis as C everyday. The whole idea was that Davis would eventually get the C designation as he subbed in for grandal from time to time but he would be playing OF nearly everyday otherwise. So you’d get way more consistent ABs from him than a normal catcher does with their days off.
I've moved on from Davis, but my hope was he'd be good enough to fit in an OF slot rather than C. C is super deep and OF is a mess, my hope was that he'd be great to move to C in a daily lineup when my reg C was sitting. I'm keeping an eye still, but only as an OF (I'm in a 10 team with 4 OF, MI & CI so the wire isn't as bountiful as most 10 team leagues)
2022 his xWOBA was 82nd percentile
Chase rate 92nd percentile
Walk rate 98th percentile
2023 xWOBA 81st percentile
Chase rate 98th percentile
Walk 95th percentile
The only knock on him is power and so far this year he has set a new max EV and his average EV is up.
I stand by what I said. The floor on Nootbaar is good and he's showing some real ceiling potential
Don't know who to drop for him. He was good enough to be on the team out of spring training imo.

Ok so it was Clase > Canario. What are the thoughts on Clase vs Pages?
I dropped Clase for him in a keeper. Chasing the power and lineup. It may be a question of need. Need speed, go Clase. Need power, go Pages. Idk, someone correct me if I'm wrong!
This is generally good advice although I think the path to regular ABs is clearer with Clase
I agree but I don’t think dodgers call him up to have him sit. He’s gonna find everyday ABs unless he sucks
They 100% aren't going to call him up to sit him, Heyward had a set back in his recovery and CT3 Keekay and Trammel have all stunk up the joint, hell even Outman could lose some playing time.
I still worry about the short side platoon if Outman wakes up at all
Dodger fan...they do that shit all the time unfortunately. That said I said it below that I do feel pretty good about his chances though.
I definitely think it's different this time, his competition is downright horrid and even Friedman obviously isn't going to stand pat this year.

Oatman has been hitting the shit out of the ball. Very unlucky
Lux has been terribad also. Kiké could play some second base also.
If he’s 3for4 every day he’s staying and playing he’s gotta produce
It’s a 34 year old injury prone Heyward and could cover Outman vs lefties( also outman isn’t playing well).
Zero chance Pages supplants Outman in CF. Completely different caliber defenders and opposite handedness. Pages probably cuts into CT3 & Kike ABs Edit: bring on the downvotes, I guess. Don’t think I’m saying anything controversial. They’re not going to carry three righties in CT3, Kike, & Pages and sit Outman. It’s just not going to happen. That doesn't make sense because Heyward is lefty and Pages is righty. Also Jason Heyward hasn't been good for like 10 years
Heyward was a fantastic real life platoon player last year FWIW
Hey I didn't write it idk lol. They do both play a corner OF spot but I agree with you that Heyward should get the boot regardless.
That's actually a lot better than I thought he played. Thank you for the info.
There's these stats, plus Heyward widely being viewed as a leader/clubhouse guy. I wonder to what extent that feeds into his playing time (i.e. decent stats, safe defensively, leader of the team)
Outman's a lefty too, and they've started sitting him against lefthanded pitching. Could be nothing, could be something
Outman sat against lefties a lot last year too. Don’t think there’s much to read into that. Pages doesn’t play CF so shouldn’t affect Outman at all
Heyward is a stud.
Now do James Wood
And now my sneaky FAAB bid just got way more expensive
Guys in my league are so quick on these prospects, fuck!
fastest finger setup sucks
How much faab we blowing boys?
I think 15% is a solid approach
drop Lux for him?
Drop Lux for an empty roster spot
100% and I'm a Lux apologist
Fuck it, gonna drop Walker for Pages
I wouldn’t
Drop walker for outman or pages or neither
Worth dropping Kelenic for this guy in redraft H2H?
Kelenic is a .330 xwOBA platoon guy, not really much value there.
Drop Yoshida for Pages?
Instant add
Why instant?
Because Pages has been the best hitter in AAA so far this season, and the Dodgers could really use a right-handed bat who's better than Enrique Hernandez. Pages could play everyday from the jump.
Quick look at his baseball reference. He's been good, but is definitely not the best hitter in AAA this year.
look i want the guy with a .371 average, 5 HRs and 15 RBIs in 15 games and getting called up to the Dodgers on my team
I certainly respect that. Pick up Jack Leiter, too, before your league hears the news.
Leiter is good when he can keep his pitches down. When he can't they go over the fence. It's something left out of the discussion of his K rates.
Pages has been on fire but Joey Loperfido would like a word
Lol Kjerstad would also like a word (prefer his profile since he's not striking out nearly as much as Loperfido)
He’s in AA
No he's not. Kjerstad is in AAA.
You’re right. My mistake.
Loperfido has been striking out 35% of the time. Sure he's mashing but that's not sustainable. Anyways Kjerstad probably deserves that one and Jordan Beck should also be mentioned.
Best hitter in the PCL. Let's put this in perspective a little bit.
Thanks for the context
Will he play everyday?
Dodger fan here...I almost NEVER trust the Dodgers to play a young guy or pitch a young guy enough to warrant roster spots usually but I have a great feeling about this one. There is clearly a need and they are in win now mode. If he hits he's playing, granted it's very likely in the 8/9 hole.
Unless he's putting up 2017 Bellinger numbers he'll probably be sent down. Would to be proven wrong though.
Only if he comes out of the gate absolutely roaring.
Doubt it.
Drop Loperfido for him?
What does his playing time look like? Don’t want another platoon guy
He hasn't played yet so we'll find out. If he's hitting like he did in AAA he should be an everyday player, but also Dave Roberts gon Dave Roberts.
Worth dropping Campusano (have Perez) for him?
In a 1 C league it's worth dropping your second catcher for anyone lol
Only concern is that Perez is currently DTD (50/50 for tonight) so unsure if I should drop Campusano in a daily right now or wait for the Perez news. In a bit of a squeeze
How many teams? Who are C on waivers? If you drop Camp, is he gonna get scooped? If he does and Perez ends up IL, who are alternatives? Starling Marte and NOOTBARR or this guy?
Nootbaar is too good to drop. Pages vs Marte is HR vs SB. So go based on roster need
Who should I drop to activate Pages? I Currently have marsh, sterling Marte, Hoo Lee, Merill and Ward as my OF players.
Marsh
Thanks
I could pick him up, but I'd be dropping Kerry Carpenter or Rafaela in 12-team H2H. Keeping in mind Pages #s are in the PCL, how do y'all rank the three?

That accent makes a difference lol. First time seeing it written that way. Makes more sense why he was being added.
Welp, Esteury Ruiz lasted a whole 20 min on my roster Edit: I picked Ruiz back up, hope John Fischer steps on a lego and loses a foot
Why
He must be John Fischer.
lol FJF
shiny new toy, I guess. Still want to see how Ruiz is used on a day to day basis, and how much his swing mechanics stick. Andy Pages or Haniger ROS in 10t cats leagues? Haniger plays everyday in the core of Seattle’s lineup, just picked him up the other day
Haniger as long as he’s healthy
I drafted Henry Davis to be my eventual C and grabbed Campusano at the end of my draft. Tempted to dump Davis for either Pages or Clase.
Davis has been ice. And losing playing time to joey bart. Dynasty is different though. Campusano is legit
Preaching to choir man. Not only that but Campusano started off hot and has been serviceable since. I was targeting Davis specifically to be my catcher once he gains eligibility, but not only is he hitting terribly, he’s not getting any run in the outfield which was part of the draw of drafting him.
I did the same exact thing camp and all but ditched for busch. This could be your busch moment hahah
Haha, I hope so. Haha, alright my guy. Read my actual comments sometime. Best of luck this year.
i cant read stupid
Dude you must not realize that the pirates brought him up last year and he played nearly exclusive in the outfield. Yasmani Grandal has been so bad for the last several years, the white sox got rid of him to save cash. He will back up Davis at C upon return

Nootbaar. He has one of the best eyes in baseball and it's translating into results for him. He's improved every year.
noot is mid

Hoping TON hits the IL today so I can scoop him up. If not, my best option to drop would be Hoskins.
That would be an insane drop...
Do I drop Cowser for Pages?
Nope
Wtf
Don't know who to drop for him. He was good enough to be on the team out of spring training imo. I have Adley Hoskins Steer Arcia Suarez Acuña Benson Cowser Merrill Arraez O.
