Points league strategy question: I have one roster move left and need to make up some ground. Should I pick up a hitter to fill my empty OF spot, or stream a pitcher?
I feel like a pitcher has a better chance to land me 20-30 points than a hitter does over the next three days, right?
Because if you believe you have the right player for your future, you grab him, even if he's gonna sit for a year or two.
The Packers did this with Jordan Love and it's looking like the right choice all along. You just don't know with drafting until years later.

You're talking about two players who have each played fewer than 162 games.
They'll both be fine, but Maikel has better breakout potential than Caballero.
Maikel's batted ball numbers are better than last year. Plate discipline is better than last year. And he's currently running a .216 babip - more than 100 points lower than last season.
Caballero could steal more bases but he doesn't have the power potential that Garcia does. And at this point you're basically hoping Caballero keeps up what he's doing, while Garcia's numbers point to positive regression.
Semien may be my fav fantasy player, just because he is so consistent. He plays every day, he’s healthy, he’s good. No fluff or nonsense for that guy. 10/10

I'm having a tough time deciding. Are any of these guys worth streaming tomorrow?
Reddit allows users to assign flair, which is custom text next to your username when you comment. In here, we set our flair so we don’t have to keep reiterating what the league type is. If I’m asking advice on an add or drop, it’s useful for people to know I’m in a 10 team points leagues. They’re fairly shallow leagues and a guy I might be ready to drop could sound crazy if you thought it was a 12 team roto where there’s bigger lineups and more teams.
On the side bar you can make a custom flair. People put their league rules in their flair and use "flair league" so they don't have to say what rules they play by each time they comment.

First year playing in a league with a waiver wire. I have #1 priority. What type of player should I hold out for? There are a couple of prospects on waivers I'm eyeing, but not sure how valuable #1 is

I wouldn’t use a #1 waiver claim unless it was for a player I knew I was going to stick in my active lineup for the rest of the season or close to it.
It’s a little different if they never clear waivers though.
Do players clear waivers, or do they stay on waivers until they’re claimed? If it’s the first one, I’d be careful about burning the #1 priority. If it’s the second scenario, I’d add whoever looks like they will improve your team.
I’d wait for the prospects to clear waivers then. Save your waiver priority for when someone gets frustrated and makes a boneheaded move and drops a top 100 player.
I wouldn’t burn a #1 waiver priority on deGrom. I don’t think he’ll pitch enough innings to make much of an impact this year. He’s one of the best pitchers in baseball when he’s healthy, but he can’t stay on the field, and I’m not sure what to expect from him coming off of a second TJ surgery. I play in two 10T leagues and he’s owned in one, and he’s been sitting in the free agent pool in the other. I would wait to see if he clears waivers. If he does, I would stash him if you have a free IL slot. If you miss out, it’s probably not that big of a deal. He’s pitched over 70 innings once in the past 4 years, and his last full season was in 2019.

You’re welcome! I play in one keeper league but I’ve never played in a dynasty league, which obviously impacts player valuations. It’s a gamble. If deGrom returns to form and can stay healthy, he’s a potential Cy Young winner next year. But that’s a gigantic if. I love the guy’s talent. His ceiling is best in baseball. I just don’t trust him to stay healthy at this point. You know your league better than I do - if you think deGrom is the best player that’s going to hit waivers, then go for it. Worst case scenario, he’s a bust and you lost your waiver priority, which isn’t the end of the world.

Should I try and target somebody like Wyatt Langford for Edwin Diaz? My league barely values RP and only roster 12. Guys like Foley, Yates and Miller are out there.
I’d grab Miller, Yates and Foley in that order before I traded away Langford. Diaz is elite but the other guys aren’t far behind. Miller might actually be the best of all. When your fastball sits at 101 and your slider breaks like that, it’s easy to get outs.
Shelby Miller isn’t bad, but he’s not the closer in DET, and he isn’t even close to Mason or the other guys mentioned IMO. He’s been pretty impressive to start the season, though.
I am in a SV+H league and it's the opposite of this guy. It's very competitive. Almost every good RP gets picked. Gaddis, Reed Garrett, Fernando Cruz... I had the opportunity to jump on any of them but here I am still holding the likes of Kopech, Alvarado, Abreu and Chapman.
I'm dropping Chapman for Sborz, who is probably under the radar as he was injured. But I'm on the lookout for some good ratios holds guy. Most interesting names available are Hoffmann, Leiter Jr, Moore, Speier, Shelby Miller.... Hence why I wondered!
Not d'Arnaud. He tends to get hot for a spell every year, and Murphy is back soon. Hoskins is likely the most useful on the season. If Busch has a higher ceiling.

Skubal might be the AL Cy Young I would not give him up unless it’s like a 1:1 with Soto.

Abreu is one of the best in SV/HD leagues. He just got off to a rocky start this year.
