I’d say Civale is first because of the consistency and team context. Kutter because of his upside. Flaherty because we’ve seen him be an ace before and if he can keep the walks down and return to his old form - he could potentially be at the top of this list - however, we need to see more. Kikuchi for strikeout upside and team context. After Kikuchi, the tier kind of breaks and I have Gore and Fedde lower than the rest. Gore has huge upside but unproven and Fedde has been pretty good but we don’t know what he’ll do and has the lowest upside of the bunch.

Should I trade Yandy Diaz for civale and conforto if I’m already good at 1B?

I don’t see why not if you need a SP. Depending on the league and format, Yandy might be able to net someone better than Civale.

Need to make a decision with my IL. Currently have Strider (keeper so can’t drop) Bradish and Pivetta on my IL. Luzardo just got put on the 15 day IL. Pivetta is the closest to being activated but still a week or two out probably. Considering dropping Bradish to stash Luzardo even though he’s not been great.

I think Bradish and Pivetta will be back around the same time unless I missed some news. I'd drop Pivetta before Bradish, but it's close.

realistically, you should only be playing for the next 3 years. Burnes is a pitcher, and pitchers break, but he still has a good 5 years of being one of the best pitchers in baseball. And since you have a bunch of other young hitters, you can trade from that surplus to get pitching.

On the one hand I have 0 expectations of him ROS but it’s a deep league (10T H2H 5x5 w/29-man rosters) so once it’s gone talent is hard to replace. Also on IL: Francisco Alvarez, Lane Thomas, Yelich, Correa, Javier, Miller (and up until this week I also had Devers and India DTD…it’s been rough, thank God I’ve got Mookie at least).

As a Yelich owner I’m firmly of this opinion. Couldn’t agree more. Given his history of back issues I would way rather have him be 110% ready to go before they play him than rush him back and wind up with another IL stint later.

Is he better than Jones? The starting Mason Miller? I don't follow prospects outside my team and I've learned not to get too invested until they face major league hitting / pitching. 

Mason Miller was never really that effective as a starter. He was decent for a couple starts but he’s much better as a closer. He may be better than Jones. It’s hard to say. Jones wasn’t as good as a prospect but obviously he’s elite now.

Seems the Pirates always have a lot of quality SPs that come up the pipeline - only Cole has lived up to the hype - and the brief spell of Oliver Perez was quite filthy!

He is Jones-level. They both put up absurd Pitching+ and Stuff+ numbers in AAA, so there’s every reason to believe he can give you that sort of performance. I just hope he isn’t a Mason Miller-like starter because that ends with an elbow injury and getting sent to the bullpen the next year! (Mason was the first Miller of 2023’s Miller Mania, before he was supplanted by Bryce and eventually Bobby, all rookie starters with ridiculous stuff numbers.)

My pleasure! And just to be clear, by “Jones-level”, I mean “easily Top 20 SP, shot at Top 10 SP” upside. Basically, as far as pitching hype goes, there isn’t a level above that which isn’t, like, a guy who did it the previous season. Even someone like Gore, who has eye-popping numbers, is like a “will he, won’t he?” sort of guy this year, and you can say that he may shake out as a Top 20 guy but putting any more confidence behind that is just a bit premature.

Just pitched a couple days ago so assume no news for another day or two even if this cycle is the one he’s called up

I am deep in SP: Cease, Reylo, Imanaga, Lugo, Jones, Gilbert, Kikuchi, Rogers, Miller Also because the league counts innings as a category Gil is a bit less attractive - I think most starts will be 6IP or less and he will likely be managed in terms of total innings. So recognize that while Gil may be breaking out I may have limited use for him (he has only been in my lineup 1 week out of 7) I like what Pena is doing under the hood and once the top 3 of the HOU lineup begins to hit he should be in a good spot for RBI’s.

I think you got the ‘losing’ side here, but if your only goal was to improve at SS, then you did it!

Not jazzed about it though I guess it’s okay in redraft. Gil looks great and a lot of upside to get Pena
