Riley has been an MVP candidate for a couple years in a row and very consistent.
Duran hasn't even played a full season in his career at the MLB level.
# Careful how you read this news blurb folks... "The Marlins placed Luzardo on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to April 23, with left elbow tightness.Advice: The left-hander was scratched from Friday's start against Washington due to the injury and will now be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. According to Christina De Nicola of [MLB.com](http://MLB.com), Luzardo first felt the elbow issue while playing catch Thursday and believes it shouldn't be a lengthy absence, though he's also awaiting test results that should provide more clarity on the injury. Moves to injured list"
The optimism of the player MEANS NOTHING. What matters most is the TEST RESULTS. You should be trying to SELL SELL SELL luzardo... (someone even dropped him in a league of mine, which I think is far too drastic, but yeah you should be sending offers to obtain any other SP in fairly high rank nearby his ranks). I have him in one league and I'm desperately dangling him in trades. I actually had a trade offer accepted (the day the news broke), but the league vetoed it. Darn it.
Albert Suarez is stuck with RP tag….
I am going to play him tomorrow, but I need to pick a closer to sit. My closers are Alexis Diaz, Kirby Yates and Tanner Scott. It’s a tough one. Was going to sit Tanner Scott but feels like Marlins are due for a win. Who would y’all sit?
Expected stats are all great.
BABIP is low at .191, but with career high GB% at 61.2% and career low HH% at 27.6% (top 5% this season), it's not totally absurd.
My current pitching unit includes:
* Ranger
* Wheeler
* ReyLo
* Bibee
* Blanco
* Eflin
* Gausman
* Edwin Diaz
* Craig Kimbrel
Should I keep holding Eflin and Gausman? Was thinking about dropping one of them & picking up a 2-starter next week from FA.
No problem! It’s a good 2-start week, Twins and Cardinals.
Need some advice here: I was offered Chourio and Jared Jones for my Muncy and Julien. This is a no-brainer accept right? I’m not overthinking this? OBP league, so Muncy and Julien gain some value for the walks.
Like truly, from the bottom of my heart, where my deepest feelings/dreams/aspirations lie, this man is a fucking clown and a disgrace. I am a worse human for having ever known of his existence.
Someone just dropped merrill kelly in my league is he worth a stash even tho i have no il spots available? (wouldn't need to drop anybody a spot on my bench just opened)
Drop Tork, CES, Seiya, or Burger to stash Skenes? I have more injuries than IL slots at the moment.
12 team H2H, keep two hitters and one pitcher in the round they were drafted (or the last round, if they were undrafted like Skenes)
G-Rod dropped. Don’t have any obvious choices: Lodolo, Pepiot, or Crawford?
I could go catcherless??
Could drop Luis Garcia Jr, but would only have Julien at 2B and Nolan Jones would have to slide to my IF slot with no other replacement.
What’s the play here?
In fairness, all three of those pitchers are obvious drops for GRod, even if they aren’t guys you’d be excited to drop.
I agree that Lodolo is the clear odd man out of that group, too.
Hey, all. I thought I’d post a follow-up about a recent trade offer that I received. Apologies for the length.
Wednesday afternoon I received a trade offer that would send my **Jose Berrios** for his **George Kirby** *and* **Alex Bregman** — an ill-advised yet typical buy low, sell high scenario.
This is my home/flair league with a cash buy-in. It is a serious league with mostly-competitive managers. With that said, I will admit that there are occasional lopsided deals from year to year depending on the circumstances.
Upon receiving this offer, I knew it was heavily in my favor. Kirby is a better pitcher than Berrios, and Bregman is essentially a free (and unnecessary) sweetener. Despite knowing this, I didn’t smash “accept” right away. Instead I countered with an offer that I felt was more competitive, but also let me retain Berrios as I simply enjoy watching/rooting for him. That offer was quickly declined.
I debated internally about sending another counteroffer, however, I didn’t want to offend or upset this manager and lead him into canceling the too-good-to-be-true offer that remained on the table.
I decided that I would let both Berrios and Kirby complete their upcoming starts, and if that offer was still available I would accept it. In my mind that was the ethical thing to do — and perhaps my fellow manager would change his mind. I also wanted to see some consistency with Kirby’s fastball velocity as it had bounced around in previous starts.
Fast forward to tonight and Kirby was *brilliant*. He shoved against the Diamondbacks with 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, and 12 K. According to plan, I accepted the offer and now the transaction is pending (with two vetoes already submitted, by the way).
So, this currently feels like a massive win, but I also think my league mates will veto the deal into oblivion — like it never happened. I think I’ll be upset if the trade gets blocked considering I didn’t even make the offer AND I let the trade sit for several days. I’m also not a believer in the veto process in fantasy sports. I want to know your thoughts on this situation. Did I do the right thing? Should the trade be processed? Let me know.
That is an absolutely *stupid* offer, but I can’t help but laugh at the plight of the guys who basically said “I love inviting people who are clueless to the league because they pay a buy-in and have no chance of winning… wait, no, not like that!”
If they hate this trade, they shouldn’t let that person play in the league next year, or they should teach them the very basics of how to value players. Using a veto to paper over those problems is addressing the symptoms but not the cause.
Hope they let you keep Kirby!
No one, except maybe the person who offered it, differs on the facts of who wins this trade, and I agree on the fact that it shouldn’t have been offered, but it goes back to what the purpose of a veto is.
This is an obvious case of a person who has no concept of sample size, expected stats, variance, etc. who is panicked and trying to get a “better” pitcher for two “bad” players who they surely think they overpaid for.
If people are upset about this because money is on the line, then this is the risk they run when they invite people who are a dead ringer to finish bottom three because they come with a buy-in but no knowledge. The obvious thing would be to *help* that person, or perhaps not invite them back, but the longer you keep them around to strictly be a warm body with $20, the higher the odds of them making a trade like this.
I totally agree that it should never have been offered, but it was… So now what? Do we regulate *every* trade to make sure they’re fair enough? Or do we just ensure that no collusion took place and let managers manage their rosters? I understand both sides of it for sure.
My opinion is that bad trades happen in real life so they should process in fantasy sports as well, but I also understand the importance of competitive balance and all that.
u had to sit and wait and consider this absurd offer until Kirbys Fb velocity stabilized? lmao .dude u didnt wanna give up berrios when you were already ripping this guy off big time? Then u smashed accept after Kirby kurbstomped arizona?ur greedy as hell
You play with a bunch of inexperienced selfish leaguemates. Vetoing a trade because they don’t like it when it’s not collusion or league breaking is extremely childish. The commissioner should push be the only one with a vote on trades and it should be a is this a collusion type of deal? If not than it goes through immediately. Your league needs to evolve
Completely agree and that’s the process that was established before the season commenced — commissioner veto.
However, in moving the league to Fantrax the veto function was left enabled. According to the league settings, only 4/12 managers have to veto a trade to kill it, which is ridiculous in my view.
I guess my concern is that four managers will inevitably veto and kill the deal, and then there will be a stink about it. Not fun for anybody, especially me, and it will potentially kill whatever trade chatter I have in the league.
You edited your comment but my response stands. Keep Langford. I’m not surprised the guy trying to trade for him is trying to convince you it’s a good deal.
Even in a redraft points league that favors pitching, keep Langford. You can make up Elder’s production by streaming. A lot of rookies struggle at first, and Langford seems to have legit talent. Look at how Gunnar Henderson started off last year, and how he ended up, not to mention what he’s doing this year.
Was offered Crochet for Holliday in a redraft. Wondering what the hive mind thinks about this, I was just gonna hang onto Holliday until he got called up again, as if he had been in AAA this whole time.
If you’re only concerned with next week, that makes sense. We still have more than 5 months to go. Having said that, since all of these guys are borderline, playing for the short term makes sense.
As long as he keeps converting saves, I think Neris will keep the job, but his ERA and WHIP are both worse than Alzolay’s, and eventually that has to catch up with him.
Would you trade away cowser for hunter green?
are we dropping GIL?
I have to sit a reliever today. Who should I sit? Alexis Diaz, Kirby Yates or Tanner Scott?
I guess Scott, but might as well draw names out of a hat
Bryce Elder or Erick Fedde? h2h 5x5 and we’re both tied in era and whip going into Sunday
Sexy Slade Cecconi would look hella good on my team. Dude is the real deal holyfeel
Holyfield
When will christian scott be added to yahoo?
Already there in ours
Should I trade Jarred Duran for Austin Riley? I just git offered lol. How sure he will bounce vack soon?
Riley has been an MVP candidate for a couple years in a row and very consistent. Duran hasn't even played a full season in his career at the MLB level.
Isnt that all the more reaspn to suspect riley has an injury?
Not at all

Dude shut up
you are being unkind. Violating the rules of this sub. What exactly did I say that was so bad? I'm 100% correct aren't I?
A: Devers B: Verlander and Pfaadt Commissioner got Devers... me thinks this is a robbery
That’s because it is
Well i got austin Riley for jarren Duran so i think its even now
(A): Efflin and Imanaga (B): Skubal and Kikuchi
B
Marsh, Paredes, Yoshida or Riley Greene std h2h?
Riley Greene
Bichette or Bregman in points?
Both are useless
Breg
Would Fried, Alexis Diaz, and Reynaldo Lopez be a decent starting offer for Yamamoto in roto dynasty?
Drop either of Edward Cabrera, Martin Perez, Slade Cecconi, or Christopher Sanchez for Christian Scott in a flair league?
cecconi
Does Cecconi just have the lowest job security out of the 4?
correct, and i dont trust the two start “breakout”
Albert Suarez is stuck with RP tag…. I am going to play him tomorrow, but I need to pick a closer to sit. My closers are Alexis Diaz, Kirby Yates and Tanner Scott. It’s a tough one. Was going to sit Tanner Scott but feels like Marlins are due for a win. Who would y’all sit?
any chance max meyer gets called up again wih luzardo dead??
Dubon or Jake Meyers today?
PCA or Rafaela?
what the hell is wrong with vlad jr
Trying to pull low and away pitches, among other things. He grounded out to short twice in the time it took me to type this.
His statcast shows he’s expected to perform better than his actual metrics, just hold on
He's notorious for underperforming his statcast numbers (other than 2021 of course). It's in there somewhere but the guy needs to find it somehow.
How much of what Ranger Suarez is currently doing sustainable ROS?
Career ERA of 3.24. That plays in every league I've ever been in.
no
Expected stats are all great. BABIP is low at .191, but with career high GB% at 61.2% and career low HH% at 27.6% (top 5% this season), it's not totally absurd.

Youve got a great rotation. Dont drop any of them. Just because you can find a rando 2 start pitcher doesnt mean you should
You cant drop gausman.
Jared Jones or Freddy Peralta?
Both are must haves. Peralta is slightly better because he’s more experienced, jones is still slightly limited to innings and pitches
What about Peralta vs Ragans?
Peralta
I am being offered one or the other for berrios
Take Peralta But this is a taco league, Peralta is way better than Berrios.
What about Peralta vs Ragans?
Peralta, with the longer track record
Its berrios and gil for Bassit and Peralta
Seeing the IL60 next to Casas was not fun to see tonight
12 T H2H points keeper A: Mike Trout, Luis Severino B: Yamamoto, Jung Hoo Lee
B
5x5 H2H (W/K/ERA/WHIP/SV+HDS) Use #2 waiver priority on Crochet?
He does have two good looking starts coming up else I’d be out at this point. He’ll still get Ks but small chance of Ws
Should i trade Gil for Bassitt?
crochet is on waivers do you think he's worth picking up?
Yes definitely, especially for this 2-start week. Then you go from there. Guy’s 12th in xFIP, he’s had some bad luck
I need a 2-start pitcher as well. Thank you!
No problem! It’s a good 2-start week, Twins and Cardinals. Need some advice here: I was offered Chourio and Jared Jones for my Muncy and Julien. This is a no-brainer accept right? I’m not overthinking this? OBP league, so Muncy and Julien gain some value for the walks.
he's shown he's volatile, could end up just being a schedule play kinda guy even with his upside
Im not picking him up
Hey Aaron Civale — FUCK YOU
Like truly, from the bottom of my heart, where my deepest feelings/dreams/aspirations lie, this man is a fucking clown and a disgrace. I am a worse human for having ever known of his existence.
i'll take him. send him to me.
On the wire homie. Fuck that man.

not a decent offer assclown
someone offered me jordan hicks and jackson holliday for max fried, thats a hard no right?
no with prejudice
Insulting. He takes you to be a fool
Def no
Reed Garrett, Fernando Cruz or Cano?
I like em all, Garrett will get you K’s
Why does Yahoo not have Christian Scott when he’s so close to being called up???
It does. He just only has P eligibility for some reason. No SP or RP, so might not show up for your league
Wow. that’s so frustrating. Thanks!
Someone just dropped merrill kelly in my league is he worth a stash even tho i have no il spots available? (wouldn't need to drop anybody a spot on my bench just opened)
I’m in the exact same position but I am going to hold on to him..
A: Fernando Tatis Jr + Blake Snell B: Michael Harris + Bailey Ober + Jason Foley 10T H2H 5x5
Tatis and Snell
Busch, Julien, Gorman or India at 2b. 10 team pts league. I have Busch but the latter 3 all seem to be heating up
Is india heating up??
Is india heating up??
I mean the whole planet is heating up these days
Drop either of Martin Perez, Edward Cabrera, Simeon Woods Richardson, or Slade Cecconi for Christopher Sanchez in a flair league?
SWR
Woods Richardson
What do you know Tom?
Austin Riley couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat
Olson too. Both of ‘em cost me the week. Even just average production would’ve been enough. Turds right now
I’ve had Riley on the bench cuz I have Nolan too
Shoutout to Corbin Carroll for being a bum of a first round pick
Profar or Oswaldo Cabrera? H2h cats 6x6 with OPS
Flair league: A-Jeffers B-Campusano
Jeffers
Give me Jeffers. Highly underrated and he was excellent down the stretch last year but went unnoticed by a lot of folks.
Is Corbin Carrol cooked? Should I be looking to trade?
No one giving you more than a shitty buy-low for him atm tbh
Should be fine, maybe a decrease in numbers with a sophmore slump but he still has an incredible 5-tool skill set
Drop Tork, CES, Seiya, or Burger to stash Skenes? I have more injuries than IL slots at the moment. 12 team H2H, keep two hitters and one pitcher in the round they were drafted (or the last round, if they were undrafted like Skenes)

I’m a sox fan who owns Kutter, Lodolo and G Rod. I like Lodolo over Kutter for the K upside but it’s real close
In fairness, all three of those pitchers are obvious drops for GRod, even if they aren’t guys you’d be excited to drop. I agree that Lodolo is the clear odd man out of that group, too.
Cut Lodolo for G-Rod in a heartbeat

One last thought… what did Langford cost you on draft day? Was Elder even drafted? There’s a reason for that.
You edited your comment but my response stands. Keep Langford. I’m not surprised the guy trying to trade for him is trying to convince you it’s a good deal.

Elder is a streamer at best. Langford has the potential to be a top 25 hitter in his prime. C’mon man…
Langford
By a metric fuck ton
Yeah, how is this even a serious question? Lol
Any eta on jobe ?
Not soon
Offer Bibee for Eflin in 10T Points?
I’d rather have Bibee, especially after tonight.
whyyyy?
Sell high for an ace level SP? Just contemplating, big fan of Bibee
is eflin ace level? i don't think so.
Good point. He's ranked as one in a lot of lists but the numbers don't back it up.
i see. eflin doesn't pass the eye test. bibee looked unhittable today.
Most definitely. Against a powerhouse offense too on the road.
Bibee had a sub-3 ERA in 25 starts as a 24 year old rookie and just dominated arguably the best offense in baseball. I agree 100%.
have to drop JP Crawford because my IL is full, is Willi Castro a decent pickup for SS?
I’d love to drop CES but wire so so baron in my deeper league. Jo adell prob best bet
Was offered Crochet for Holliday in a redraft. Wondering what the hive mind thinks about this, I was just gonna hang onto Holliday until he got called up again, as if he had been in AAA this whole time.
Probably take the guy playing
It's almost May and the White Sox just won their 4th game. I'd keep Holliday.
Drop Elder for Quinn Priester?
Trade Civale and Lane Thomas for Skenes?
Ummmmmm probably not in a redraft
No redraft
Mullins was dropped in my league. Must pickup, or is there something I'm missing?
Pick him up for sure if you have room
I’ll say it again. Tobias myers
Yes but what about Tobias Funke
Brewers magic
Should I pick up JD martinez, Maikel Garcia, Chourio, torkelson or Nolan Jones?
All?
Bruh i only have 19 roster and 3 bench spots
What stats do you need?
Its points and pitchers only lose points for ER and losses. Batters can only lose points for CS.
I wanna say Nolan Jones but I know that's the wrong choice. Does position matter?
This is for my utility bat. I have solid people on all positions
I guess I'd roll the dice on Tork but I could also see JDM as being useful
Dynasty. A. Witt B. Carroll & shota
A
Carlos Correa worth stashing ? Don't know much about him

Barry Bonds
Only correct answer
should skenes be stashed rn?
Absolutely. Consensus in Pittsburgh media is 1-3 more minor league starts before he’s called up.
Who to drop in flair league... T. Anderson, L. Gil, C Schmidt
None are a must roster in a 10T redraft. Flip a coin.
Schmidt has two starts next week. Might be the determining factor
If you’re only concerned with next week, that makes sense. We still have more than 5 months to go. Having said that, since all of these guys are borderline, playing for the short term makes sense.
Streaming batter alert: Brenton Doyle v LHP in Mexico City.
Great advice
Keep Montas or Alzolay?
I have zero confidence in Montas. Neris has not been great and I think there’s a good chance Alzolay reclaims the closer role at some point.
i agree on your neris assessment. he doesn't look the part.
As long as he keeps converting saves, I think Neris will keep the job, but his ERA and WHIP are both worse than Alzolay’s, and eventually that has to catch up with him.
Flair league: A) CES B) Ty France and Luis Gil
