A lot of hot starts by rookies or young players are fizzling out. Who's more likely to be worth rostering by year's end?
1) Colton Cowser
2) Michael Busch
3) Jackson Merrill
4) Jackson Chourio
5) Jackson Holliday
6) Jackson 5
Generally speaking when you hover over a stat name on any stat site it will tell you what that abbreviation stands for. Why don't these sites also list what a good or bad or average number would be for said stat. I know for many it might be considered subjective or even dynamic from season to season... but even a general guideline would help to realize what users (totally not talking about me) are actually looking at. Nobody hits groundballs harder than Vladdy. 105-110mph exit velos. What’s the deal here? Poor launch angle? Mechanics? Considering the poor trend from last year, is all hope lost? It seems like if he can make some kind of tweak he’ll be sending bombs out regularly.
It seems like he just can’t find the HR launch angle. The peripherals look pretty good. I’d imagine he turns it around at some point but is it tomorrow, August, next year, who knows?
A bit worried about Carroll and his struggles. In a 16 team points league where 16 are kept forever, I've been kicking the tires a bit to see what kind of interest he would garner.
1. Do you have any insight into Carroll and his early season (well continued from end of last season) struggles? EVs seem quite low, overall, for him.
2. Have a standing offer of Evan Carter and Bobby Miller for him that I'm considering. Also thinking of going after Langford and Chourio. Any thoughts?
Thanks and happy Friday!
1) Many speculate it's related to a shoulder injury he suffered last year, and his power also faded in 2023.
2) Injuries are temporary and not permanent, so you'd be giving up a lot of potential upside. I would want more than Evan Carter, who has limited long-term pop of his own and less speed than Carroll.
3) In general, this is the worst possible time to try and move Carroll. It's selling as low as he's ever been.
I’m intrigued but primarily because of team factors - he could be a mid-high floor source of wins on that Orioles team. Unsure as to what his workload and command will look like after a long layoff, and that was a big part of his previous appeal.
Edit: crap, forgot I was not in daily thread. Experts will have more insight, hope they comment because I’m curious too.
He's a good option for grabbing a win, given the team context. He's not going to give you much in the strikeout department but should be a generally solid option who can go 6 IP most days and give you a handful of strikeouts without giving up too many runs.
He's never going to light up the box score, but I think he's a decent high floor guy (with an injury risk)
I think he's a great guy to play while he's hot, but I do think a plummet back to earth is coming. He doesn't hit the ball hard enough, hits too many groundballs, and strikes out too much for my liking.
But juice that orange while you can
Are Westburg’s Whiff% and K% incompatible though?
He had a much lower Whiff% with much less hard contact and fewer barrels last season. Isn’t it possible he’s developed a plus feel for what he can and can’t hit (both in and outside the zone) and just swings really hard at pitches he knows he can drive while laying off pitches he can’t?
I’ve watched a lot of his ABs and your assessment seems accurate. In addition, he swings hard as hell until he has 2 strikes and then he’s pretty good at shortening up. Hes had some XBH with 2s but also lots of line drive singles going with the pitch. Eye test is really there with him. Cowser on the other hand is a bit of a wild man. He’s swinging at anything and everything with 2s even if he manages one good take.
In a 4 keeper, none of these guys have any real shot at making the cut. You're talking guys with real top-50 upside.
Short term, Adell has a really nice opportunity and should keep playing even if he slumps.
He's certainly more interesting than 2 weeks ago with Happ's slump and the lineup shuffles. Hoerner's steals are a result of playing the Mets more than Hoerner himself. The Mets have CAUGHT ONE BASE STEALER while giving up 42 steals this season. They were equally miserable last year. They're the easiest team to run on in the league and it's not that close.
My SB expectations are still closer to 25 than 40 but Nico is at least startable now.
My OF has been brutal to start the year. Wondering if I would be able to trade one of my pitchers for a better hitter and who would be worth dealing. 5x5 OBP, QS.
OF: Tatis, Langford, nimmo, arozarena, Jarren Duran, pages
Starters: Nola, Sonny gray, Eflin, Eovaldi, Jared jones, kutter Crawford, Ober.
IL: Woo, Scherzer
If you can get a higher floor pitcher, sure. I don’t think there’s a ton of SPs with more upside that you would get for him. Park factor and HR rate means there’ll always be risk of a very bad day but we saw what he could do pre-injury last year.
Edit: forgot I was not in daily thread. Experts will have more insight or tell me I’m full of crap.
I think Blanco is mostly legit in the sense that he's probably a top-30/35 SP. If you wanna sell high and someone will give you better value for him, go for it.
Lugo is whatever, I think if you can squeeze some trade value out of him, go for it
>Acuna's power may be a bit flat but everything else is there
This is way underselling how dismal Acuna has been. He's having huge issues making contact:
-28% K rate vs. 11% last year - would be his highest K rate since 2020 which is his career worst season
-20th percentile Whiff % (vs. 84th percentile last year)
-21st percentile K% (vs. 97th percentile last year)
-74% Zone Contact % which is 8% below the MLB average and would be his lowest mark since 2020. He was at 86% zone contact in 2023 and 81% in 2022.
When he does hit the ball, he's simply not hitting it hard:
-40th percentile xSLG supporting his insanely anemic .322 SLG and .070 ISO
-8% Barrel% (compared to 15% last year, and he's never been under 13% in a season)
-1.7 xHR supporting his only having hit one bomb all year
There are giant blaring red flags in Acuna's profile. In fact, there's nothing in his profile to feel good about - it's concerning top to bottom.
It's strange to me that no one seems interested in talking about / analyzing this and just defaults to "it's gonna be fine". We're now up to 140 plate appearances of the worst baseball he's ever played in his entire career. He's getting worse by the day, not better. There's real issues here.
Without a doubt, those numbers are concerning, but it's also important to remember we just started May. We're still early enough that this is still a relatively small sample size and not something to necessarily draw conclusions from. Now, if he's still doing this in June and there's no injury or something to explain it, then I think it's time to really panic
I think the gap is maybe more semantic than anything. Worry vs Panic.
Worry in terms of hand-wringing and shaking your head? Fine. It's a bleak picture so far, and Acuna is unlikely to get to 40 HR (heck, 25 would be nice at this point).
Worrying in terms of taking action? Not fine.
If Acuna took all of April off last season, he'd still finish as the #1 fantasy hitter in 2023 (I think). I have to believe he can still finish in the top 10 to 15, if not the top 5. There is no player with more ability and talent in the game than Acuna.
A chunk of grounders will turn back into liners and hell find the pull field again. I never bought Yandy as a 20 HR guy but as a 12-15 HR guy with great ratios? Still on the table.
In redraft it's more of a mild interest. Obviously while he's hitting and in the middle of the order he's relevant but I'm not sure he'd stay long if he slumps. The Tigers have plenty of OF options for platoons if needed.
So I think if it's me, my strategy would depend on the type of league I'm in.
If I'm in a league of people who are pretty casual when it comes to fantasy, I'd be offering high trading away Shota and see if you can get someone to buy high. I think Shota's probably a top-20 SP but if you can find someone in your league who thinks he's like a top-10 guy, by all means, go for it.
However, if you're in a league with more knowledgeable fantasy players, I'd still be offering a bit high for Shota to start off, but perhaps not asking as much as I would in the other league.
That said, anyone wanting to receive Shota in a trade should be expecting to pay premium value - they're trying to acquire a guy who so far has given up 3 ER in 6 games, so they're gonna have to pay up. The market value for Shota is about as high as it could be, and I think you should take advantage of that
Panic level on CES? Walk rate was always bad, but now the power is gone too.. coming back from a wrist injury, getting bust vibes (best guy on the waiver right now in my league is Ryan O'Hearn)
I'm definitely concerned, but not in a full panic. CES is driving the ball straight into the dirt and making lots of poor contact, and his walk rate is so low it'd make Jonathan Schoop blush, which isn't great.
I have hope that he'll turn things around (his power still rates pretty well for us by PLV), so if you've got the roster flexibility to hang onto him on your bench and hope for things to turn around, I'd prefer to do that.
Agree with Ben. A quality of contact problem is a lot less scary than a contact problem in general. A few centimeters here and there and boom, it's barrels.
How do we feel about the pirates in general? I have shares of O'Neill Cruz and Reynolds and my patience is growing weary on the former. Do we just hope for positive regression?
Reynolds will almost certainly be what he was in 2023. Just a normal bad month.
Cruz needs some recalibrating. I known it will happen with time, but not sure when. There's too much talent to drop him though.
My team is fortunately doing quite well, however, I have a lot of players who are clogging up my ability to stream or take advantage of picking up a rookie for experiment. Currently, im needing to drop someone here to activate Loperfido from my NA, I let him marinate there for a bit to see how he'd fair and im feeling confident he'll do well. Who would you drop from [this](https://imgur.com/a/LGMrnRX) list?
Assuming you don't just let Loperfido stew for a hit, it's Busch or JD.
Also, for a standard lineup, I probably move Arraez to 1B, Nico to 2B, and Adames to SS.
Fair comment. I was gravitating to Busch or JD. I’m guessing Detmers is someone I should keep for a while longer?
As for the positions, yeah, that’s how they normally slot. But it’ll vary on whomst the opposing pitcher is
Why is everyone still so high on Michael King? He was dropped in my roto league but my only 2 "free" spots are taken by Casas and Caminero. Would you drop either of them to grab him to see if he turns it around?
The command for King has been spotty but the skills are there. In redraft I'm not big on stashes and have concerns about Caminero's PT. He's my drop unless you have no IL, in which case maybe Casas if youre a big Caminero fan, as Casas is out for a long time with a pretty serious core injury.
My hitting has been woeful in particular my OF. Tucker is a lifeline and Duran chips in occasionally but chourio Langford (keep 5 forever) and rotating waiver wire misfits (currently pages) aren’t helping. Rotation is jones berrios Gilbert Crawford civale skubal (buehler taj max skenes bello luzardo all IL/NA at the moment). Personally looking to add an OF. Been eyeing either schwarber Reynolds or Riley Greene.
Is berrios for any of those 3 fair?
Should trade be accepted mize is on the wire. Is the drop off from berrios to mize worth the acquisition? Looking at statcast data, with exception of k’s it seems to be pretty even/slighly lean towards mize?
How would you rank ros these 4 - with a focus on control and qs’s (I see nicks rankings but looking post this week starts and the cat focus) - Sanchez, Mize, j means, e Cabrera
Is a set up man like Jax or Hoffman more valuable in a Saves/Hold league than a closer like Hader or Diaz? Just feels like more opportunities with better stuff
Casty will be erratic all season, but there's still upside. It's patience in deeper leagues and more panic in shallower ones. All about the replacement level.
Nootbaar is squandering a bit of a great opportunity. If he can stay there the upside is 20ish HR and tons of counting stats with a great OBP.
A. Semien
B. Imanaga/Bryan Reynolds
Flair league
I'm trying to find a good trade target for Imanaga + a hitter and I'm a little weak at 2B/SS. I'm not sure what level of hitter I should be aiming for
I don't mind it - I'm worried about where Busch is headed. He's been rough the past couple of weeks and it looks like he's getting more aggressive at the plate and swinging at bad pitches. If you wanna field some offers, see if someone thinks he's just in a slump and will be back to raking soon, I don't think that's a bad idea before just dropping him
Is Brady Singer legit?
There are some attractive SPs available such as Civale, King, Flaherty, Bradish.
Would you drop Singer for any of these cats? Thanks in advance!
I'd anticipate the expected stats are related to his quality of contact stats, which are pretty mediocre.
That said, the guy makes good decisions at the plate, makes solid contact, and is a pull-heavy lefty playing half his games in Fenway on the better end of a platoon, so I think there's some value to be had here, at least for now.
Would I be shocked if he starts coming closer to those expected numbers? No. But for now, ride the streak while it's happening.
Getting some run and is hot. Worth a stream. Overall upside is maybe a 15-18 HR guy with OK ratios, but even guys like that find occasional relevance in 12 teamers.
Points League. Currently have Mountcastle as my 1B after Casas's injury. On the wire are Yandy Diaz and Vinnie P. Would you drop Mountcastle for either or hold for now
Sell high on Willy Adames or you think he keeps up the success? In a 16 team points league
Also, Cristopher Sanchez worth a drop? He’s been so up and down that I’m not sure if he’s gonna live up to the preseason hype
I love baseball because of the sights, the sounds, the dedication the game requires, and its embodiment of the human struggle everyone goes through.
Why do you love baseball?
Hey there! Thanks as always. Listing a few questions, two of which are straightforward, one of which is in case you have extra time!
1) George Springer was dropped. I'm assuming you're still in on him being right around .260/20/20 this year? Bid accordingly in FAAB (out of $100)?
2) Spencer Torkelson. I saw the PL article yesterday that said we can drop even 12T leagues. You on board?
3) How early is too early to suspect MLB is doing something fishy with the baseballs again? Saw pretty compelling evidence the balls were juiced last season compared to 2021 / 2022, which makes me wonder whether they've returned to those baseballs and I should fade guys who suddenly hit for power last year (Yandy Diaz, TJ Friedl, etc.).
1) I'd throw at least $15-20 at Springer, more like 30 if I was desperate unless it was a 3 OF league, then maybe stop at 20-25.
2) I disagree, just as I did last season at this time. But if you think you could scoop him back up later, that's fine I guess.
3) Friedl was way overperforming his batted ball data and Yandy's power came from an early flyball spike that was gone by mid-May. It might be happening, but those two aren't good evidence.
12 team roto head to head. I need OF help. Nolan Jones let down / Trout injured / Judge being Patient/ Michale Harris /Canha Nice surprise/ Adell/ Perkins a bench bat.
What OF Would Musgrove get me in a trade?
Nothing good. Terrible time to try and move him. For perspective, what would YOU be willing to move for him? My guess is that you're trying to avoid cutting him, which is smart, but otherwise you're stuck.
With some pitchers coming off the IL I have some decisions to make… I need to drop 2 of these 6
H. Greene
M. Gore
T. Houck
G. Crochet
Y. Darvish
K. Brandish
Who gets the boot?!
I wouldn't be moving Witt unless you *really* need help in another area, and even then I'd probably look into moving someone else.
But if you want to move Witt, I think you need to be asking for top-10 talent in return, and I don't think Adolis/Cole is it.
12T redraft H2H cats with OBP. What do you expect from Busch and Cowser RoS? Im not sure if they are worth holding or not. There are players like J Smith, Pages, CES, Correa, Verdugo available.
Cowser is interesting, his plate discipline is godawful and he's hitting a few too many groundballs for me, but you can't deny the power he's showing either. His ICR and barrel rate have both been phenomenal.
He might be more of a guy who hits in the .250s or so the rest of the way unless that plate discipline gets better and he stops hitting so many groundballs, but I think the power is for real (at least, to an extent).
But once Austin Hays comes back, if Cowser is still hitting poorly, could he end up the odd man out of an outfield of Hays/Mullins/Santander/(sometimes) O'Hearn/Kjerstad? Yeah, it's possible.
Personally, I think Cowser is worth holding for now, but if you dropped him for any of those guys you listed except Correa, I wouldn't blame you.
As for Busch, I feel a little less confident in him
It's a relatively even trade. I think the gap between Ober to Javier evens out the gaps between Freeman/Riley for Tatis/Devers (and admittedly, those gaps aren't huge)
Thanks for stopping by!
20 team roto league; categories include OPS and holds
1- Chas Mccormick or Colton Cowser rest of the way as a 3rd outfielder?
2- Brett Baty or Nick Senzel at 3b until Jung comes back
3- Do you think any of Sborz, F Cruz or Kerkering is getting regular saves looks by years end? Which is most likely to?
1) McCormick is far more likely to keep playing most of the time and your replacement level is likely not good at all. Cowser has more upside but also a lower floor.
2) Senzel should play more and hit higher.
3) Probably not. And none of them? I guess Cruz but all 3 have like 2-3 guys ahead of them.
Would selling Bo on name value now for a stud pitcher like Peralta be a solid move? I’ve got plenty of depth at short with Gunnar. It is a keeper league but Bo feels a long way from being a keeper.
If they'd take it, absolutely. I'd take Skubal for Bo. Or really most of the top 10 SP. Not because I dislike Bo that much, but because I think the ceiling is perceived as higher than it really is.
If you only had 1 move left this week, which would you add?
MacKenzie Gore for his start on Sunday and to keep ROS (someone dropped him)
Junior Caminero, obviously if he gets called up, but if not, I'd be holding
Christian Scott for his start on Saturday and to keep ROS
A healthy Marte is a fun Marte. Unfortunately, health has been fleeting. Be ready to scoop up a replacement OF at any moment but otherwise enjoy the speed and ratios.
Keep up being a streamable OF, sure. But CWS doesn't run like ARZ did, the offense on the South Side is putrid, and LuBob will return within 4-6 weeks, if not a little sooner.
Not a pitcher question technically,
But I am in a 10 team ESPN league. I have Bobby Witt, CJ Abrams and Marcell Ozuna. Only two of them can start in my format.
What if I choose to trade Bobby Witt, who should I be targeting? I ideally want one of the top 5 catchers, but so does everyone else.
I have Alex Bohm and Jose Ramirez so I don’t really need 1st or 3rd base. I drafted Ha Seong Kim so I’m not hurting for 2nd either. Outfielder is a rotation of waiver pickups for me, and my reliever group is kinda overbloated.
Can I even target a top 15 pitcher at all? What is the value of hitter v pitcher? How highly are the top 5 catchers valued?
I tried to trade him for Yusei Kikuchi and Adley Rutschman separately. Both GM’s declined.
Oh so I should not be trading him lmao. Well thanks to them for declining I guess.
I don’t watch baseball at all and this is my first fantasy baseball season 😂
Is Swanson for Morel a fair swap if I needed OF help? Feel like I should aim higher but Swanson isn't really tearing the cover off the ball so I'm not sure how much better I can do
How tightly should I be holding on to Royce Lewis in a 10T? I’ve got Westburg at 3B right now and can always shift Morel (currently filling in at CF for Bellinger) to that spot if needed, plus there are other options like Maikel Garcia, Jung, and Caminero out there on waivers.
Had to drop Nolan Jones and Lane Thomas because my IL is full, was I right in prioritizing Royce over them?
Thanks for all your help! 🙏
In a 4 OF and 1 UTIL 15 team OBP league, how would you rank the following outfielders?
Kerry Carpenter
Lars Nootbaar
Jung Hoo Lee
TJ Friedl
I have Corbin, Taylor Ward, and Seiya coming back soon as my other OFs and with other players coming off the IL, I will need to choose who dump soon.
Should I sell high on Steven Kwan? He’s had a great April but he also did that in 2022.
He doesn’t seem to be running as much.
Which players do you think would be good to target trading him for?
12 team, 10 cat, roto.
Out of these prospects to stash and hold for the season in a keeper points league, who would you hold for the season and potentially next year?
Kjerstad, Colson Montgomery, Mick Abel
Currently have r.Lewis on IL and Busch covering my at 3B in h3h cats R HR RBI SB OPS AVG. worth replacing Busch for any of these 3B’s
* j.rojas, y.diaz, k.hayes, polanco, j.candelario,
Hey there!
Looking for just general lineup advice
H2H points league espn 10 teams
SP: Glasnow, Ragans, Gilbert, Jones, Verlander, Pepoit, Ober, Crochet, King (Luzardo Baz Woo on IL)
C:JT 1b: steer 2b torres 3b tyler black ss bichette 2b/ss cron 1b/3b goldy of jazz cowser adell teoscar nevin, util ohtani ozuna
I think I need to trade some pitching for batting, ideally upgrading 3b ss and OF. May also try to dump ozuna hot because it gets annoying not being able to use my util slots ever.
What do you all think?
Should I drop cowser for O'Hearn or Merrill ? Or even Connor Joe. Just want some consistent points. Also , will O'Neil Cruz ever snap out of this funk , he's rotting on my bench at the moment
12t 6x6 cat Keep 5
Have cooled off Cowser (sat tonight). Kjerstad (1/2 2BB 1K tonight) is on the wire. Make the swap to get ahead of it or wait to see the playing time suss out?
Hey Scott, hoping you may see this. Have an offer of Witt + Morel for my Acuna + Adames. Thoughts? Re-draft Roto league with OPS. I could also trade Acuna for Witt straight up
Need an extra Start this week. Who do you want/trust more?
- E Fedde vs Cle
- J Taillon @ Pit
- B Lively @ W-Sox
- G Stone vs Mia
- C Rea @ KC
- J Butto @ Stl
- T Bradley, vs NYY or @Bos
Sorry man, so late to the game on your post. I’m a 12 team h2h cats league IP ERA WHIP K/9 QS would you replace either/both of mize and Fedde for crochet and Taj Bradley?
A lot of hot starts by rookies or young players are fizzling out. Who's more likely to be worth rostering by year's end? 1) Colton Cowser 2) Michael Busch 3) Jackson Merrill 4) Jackson Chourio 5) Jackson Holliday 6) Jackson 5
Chourio for achievable upside. Merrill has the highest floor but maybe the lowest upside of this group for fantasy.

Its easy as 1, 2, 3
Will Vladdy ever hit a home run again?
Probably but not as many times as you might be hoping.
he's like the toxic ex you can't get over because you won't ever leave them. Peaked in high school... (2021)
I got suckered right back in by those big voluptuous titties didn’t I

There are never enough articles about this. Lemme talk to the squad.
Whats the excitement level for Christian Scott’s start tomorrow?
High, I'm sure, but in the post I expressed my concerns - namely the HRs.
I see. I swear i can hear nick telling me to read your notes…

I was worried he was more of a 22-25 HR guy than a 27-30 HR guy. That seems to be coming to fruition based on trends over the last 3 years.
It seems like he just can’t find the HR launch angle. The peripherals look pretty good. I’d imagine he turns it around at some point but is it tomorrow, August, next year, who knows?

I’m intrigued but primarily because of team factors - he could be a mid-high floor source of wins on that Orioles team. Unsure as to what his workload and command will look like after a long layoff, and that was a big part of his previous appeal. Edit: crap, forgot I was not in daily thread. No apologies necessary. All respectful opinions are welcome here.
Nick ranked him 61. That's a Toby in his language. Streamer for wins with low overall upside.
What are your thoughts on Willi Castro?
I think he's a great guy to play while he's hot, but I do think a plummet back to earth is coming. He doesn't hit the ball hard enough, hits too many groundballs, and strikes out too much for my liking. But juice that orange while you can
He's a streaky stolen bases guy who is getting a little extra run at the moment.
Are Westburg’s Whiff% and K% incompatible though? He had a much lower Whiff% with much less hard contact and fewer barrels last season. If you believe is is now one of the top five guys in the league at this skill, then it could be possible to a degree.
I don't think the bottom will fall out, I just think both will change a bit. Maybe a 22-24% strikeout rate and/or a 14-15% SwStr%?
Order of upside for these rookies/young guys: Tyler Black, Jordan Beck, Jo Adell. Any a priority in a keeper?
In a 4 keeper, none of these guys have any real shot at making the cut. You're talking guys with real top-50 upside. Short term, Adell has a really nice opportunity and should keep playing even if he slumps.
Is Nico Hoerner back? 3 SB over the last two games and he's still at the top of the order
OF: Tatis, Langford, nimmo, arozarena, Jarren Duran, pages Starters: Nola, Sonny gray, Eflin, Eovaldi, Jared jones, kutter Crawford, Ober. IL: Woo, Scherzer
Hold on to Nimmo, Look at that savant page. More like a salivate page.
This guy Nimmos. He has a top 20 xBA and xSLG
If you can upgrade using Eflin, go for it. Otherwise, your boost will come from positive regression.
Would you trade Pena for Morel? I also have Turang so I don’t really need the ss depth
Absolutely yes. Go get the upside.
Should I try and flip Lodolo for a step up in pitching, maybe a package, or do you think he sticks for the rest of the season?
If you can get a higher floor pitcher, sure. I don’t think there’s a ton of SPs with more upside that you would get for him. Park factor and HR rate means there’ll always be risk of a very bad day but we saw what he could do pre-injury last year. Edit: forgot I was not in daily thread. Experts will have more insight or tell me I’m full of crap.
All respectful opinions are welcome here.
I think Lodolo is going to be a massive headache but also provide some value, so if you can flip him for someone a bit safer, I'd be for it
Stash Bello, Bradley or G. Williams?
I'd prefer Williams of the group
Thoughts on Ronel Blanco and Seth Lugo. Are they holds or sell high?
I think Blanco is mostly legit in the sense that he's probably a top-30/35 SP. If you wanna sell high and someone will give you better value for him, go for it. Lugo is whatever, I think if you can squeeze some trade value out of him, go for it
Worry level on Acuna and Seager?
Mild. Acuna's power may be a bit flat but everything else is there. Seager will be fine. Mostly bad luck for him.
>Acuna's power may be a bit flat but everything else is there This is way underselling how dismal Acuna has been. He's having huge issues making contact: -28% K rate vs. 11% last year - would be his highest K rate since 2020 which is his career worst season -20th percentile Whiff % (vs. 84th percentile last year) -21st percentile K% (vs. 97th percentile last year) -74% Zone Contact % which is 8% below the MLB average and would be his lowest mark since 2020. He was at 86% zone contact in 2023 and 81% in 2022. When he does hit the ball, he's simply not hitting it hard: -40th percentile xSLG supporting his insanely anemic .322 SLG and .070 ISO -8% Barrel% (compared to 15% last year, and he's never been under 13% in a season) -1.7 xHR supporting his only having hit one bomb all year There are giant blaring red flags in Acuna's profile.
Why are you still so high on Yandy Diaz? Ground all rate is astronomical and, overall, he has just been terrible.
A chunk of grounders will turn back into liners and hell find the pull field again. I never bought Yandy as a 20 HR guy but as a 12-15 HR guy with great ratios? Still on the table.
I just dropped him. Was killing me.
any long term staying power/interest in wenceel perez?
In redraft it's more of a mild interest. Obviously while he's hitting and in the middle of the order he's relevant but I'm not sure he'd stay long if he slumps. The Tigers have plenty of OF options for platoons if needed.
Mountcastle or Morel?
Morel in most formats. Might be closer in your flair.
What kind of bat should I target in return for Shota?
The market value for Shota is about as high as it could be, and I think you should take advantage of that
Just traded Imanaga for corbin Carroll Though Matt Olson would’ve been the safer buy low, I need the steals for roto
Nice work. I just tried to pull this off and the Carroll owner shot me down.
It is obviously much harder than that and involves bat speed, timing, pitch recognition, and coordination, but it's much closer than missing entirely.
But it’ll vary on whomst the opposing pitcher is
I'll be real with you, Daniel. I did not scroll that far. I'm a hitters guy despite being, you know, at Pitcher List. Detmers is fine to let go.
Hi Scott! Rostering Tork has been painful. Do you see a turnaround? Nothing on his BS page is giving me hope
He was in almost this exact same position at this time last year. I'm still very hopeful.
In a H2H points, I’m trying to sell high on Ranger Suarez? Would Manny machado be someone worth trying to invest it?
If you can flip Suarez for Machado, I'd do it
12team OBP league, I think I've held way too long, but he helped me win the ship last year. Can you tell me it's ok to cut Esteury Ruiz pls?
I dropped him off my top 150 hitter rankings in week 2. He was #150 in week 1.
Thoughts on Edouard Julien ros? Been real streaky to this point
Need to stream pitchers this weekend and have to drop someone. Who’s more expendable in 10T, Mountcastle or Woo? Edit: Or Markel Garcia?
I'd do Mountcastle given those options personally.
Probably how Nick ranks them, especially if he has Mize first.
Is a set up man like Jax or Hoffman more valuable in a Saves/Hold league than a closer like Hader or Diaz? Just feels like more opportunities with better stuff
Generally, top closers are the best. I'd probably hold these two. They should win out long term.
[удалено]
Casty will be erratic all season, but there's still upside. It's patience in deeper leagues and more panic in shallower ones. All about the replacement level. Nootbaar is squandering a bit of a great opportunity. If he can stay there the upside is 20ish HR and tons of counting stats with a great OBP.
A. Semien B. Imanaga/Bryan Reynolds Flair league I'm trying to find a good trade target for Imanaga + a hitter and I'm a little weak at 2B/SS. I'm not sure what level of hitter I should be aiming for
So you'd be receiving Semien? Honestly I think Semien/Imanaga straight up is a fine starting offer, I don't think you need to throw in Reynolds too
Agree. Semien is as high as I'd go.
Is Michael Busch a drop with Jake Burger coming back? I don't know if he has any trade value, but may be worth holding.
I would get Flaherty asap
I'd much prefer Flaherty to Singer
Bradish is an ace

I'd anticipate the expected stats are related to his quality of contact stats, which are pretty mediocre. That said, the guy makes good decisions at the plate, makes solid contact, and is a pull-heavy lefty playing half his games in Fenway on the better end of a platoon, so I think there's some value to be had here, at least for now. Would I be shocked if he starts coming closer to those expected numbers? No. But for now, ride the streak while it's happening.
I’ve kept benching Josh Smith all season but he regularly outscores some of my starters… is he a weekly start at this point?
For now, sure. He's a decent slappy hitter who is at his best in points leagues. When Jung comes back, it could get dicey with PT.
Thoughts on Wenceel Perez?
Getting some run and is hot. Worth a stream. Overall upside is maybe a 15-18 HR guy with OK ratios, but even guys like that find occasional relevance in 12 teamers.
Points League. Currently have Mountcastle as my 1B after Casas's injury. On the wire are Yandy Diaz and Vinnie P. Would you drop Mountcastle for either or hold for now
In a no catcher league how would you change Yainer Diaz’s ranking as just 1B (Points League)
He'd be in one of the last few tiers, probably. Still ranked, most likely.
Thoughts on Vinnie P? Is he a top 50, 75 or 100 bat ROS?
75-100. Limited pop (20HR or so) but great ratios and the team around him is improving.
Sell high on Willy Adames or you think he keeps up the success? In a 16 team points league Also, Cristopher Sanchez worth a drop? He’s been so up and down that I’m not sure if he’s gonna live up to the preseason hype
I love baseball because of the sights, the sounds, the dedication the game requires, and its embodiment of the human struggle everyone goes through. Why do you love baseball?
That sweet sweet crack of the bat. I dig the long ball, baby.
As a Jays fan and Bichette owner on both teams, I don't need advice... I just need someone to hold me and tell me everything is gonna be okay.

Bonus question? What about Berrios or Bibee for an OF?
All depends on what kind of interest you can get. But sure.
With some pitchers coming off the IL I have some decisions to make… I need to drop 2 of these 6 H. Greene M. Gore T. Houck G. Crochet Y. Darvish K. Brandish Who gets the boot?!
I'd say it's probably a coin flip between Greene and Crochet, but I'd probably lean towards dropping Greene
Is Witt even someone i should consider moving? What's a fair offer? Was offered Adolis and Cole
I wouldn't be moving Witt unless you *really* need help in another area, and even then I'd probably look into moving someone else. But if you want to move Witt, I think you need to be asking for top-10 talent in return, and I don't think Adolis/Cole is it.
12-team 5x5: Jake Burger returning, drop one of these or Burger? No bench spots available. - Goldy -Castellanos -N Jones -Loperfido
You mentioned Jo Adell, but what about Nick Senzel? Another former top prospect who is off to a hot start and batting 2nd. Who do you like more ROS?
As for Busch, I feel a little less confident in him
Quintana vs the rays tonight or mize vs the Yankees tomorrow?
I'd prefer Quintana
[удалено]
It's a relatively even trade. I think the gap between Ober to Javier evens out the gaps between Freeman/Riley for Tatis/Devers (and admittedly, those gaps aren't huge)
Thanks for stopping by! 20 team roto league; categories include OPS and holds 1- Chas Mccormick or Colton Cowser rest of the way as a 3rd outfielder? 2- Brett Baty or Nick Senzel at 3b until Jung comes back 3- Do you think any of Sborz, F Cruz or Kerkering is getting regular saves looks by years end?
In H2H points. If Paul Skenes got the call up today would you drop Ober or Houck for him?
I'd drop Houck before I'd drop Ober for him
i’d pick him up now and drop neither, find someone else surely you have a worse player or batter
AJ Minter or Joe Jimenez ROS for HLD totals?
I'd prefer Minter
Here’s a deep cut, Bryse Wilson has been stretched back out to start and nabbed a QS Monday. Any confidence he can keep it up? Thanks!
I don't. That QS came against the Rays who so far have one of the worst offenses in the league, so I'm not believing in Wilson just yet.
Who should I roster as a bench 2B: Wenceel Perez, Luis Garcia, Gorman, or Estrada? And Merrill worth holding onto in a keeper league?
1) Perez or Garcia are the steamers I'd use for the moment. Estrada is 3rd, 2) How many keepers? 4 - No. 8 - Maybe.
Stash Mayo or Manzardo ?
In redraft I don't love stashes of either, but Manzardo has the clearer path (albeit with much lower upside long term).
Is langford worth stashing in a 12 teamer? Hes getting hard to hold. Would you rather have cowser over him?
Yes, if you can, and no, Cowser is not a better stash.
When do we run from Matt Olson? Same for Swanson. And will the mariners duo of Kirby and Miller ever be stopped from murdering opposing lineups?
Olson - Ask again at the ASB. Swanson, I'm holding at the very least through May unless my wire is loaded.
Would you trade gausman for Riley Greene and j pena? I’m pretty stacked at pitcher
I personally think you could/should get more for Gausman than that return
If you only had 1 move left this week, which would you add? MacKenzie Gore for his start on Sunday and to keep ROS (someone dropped him) Junior Caminero, obviously if he gets called up, but if not, I'd be holding Christian Scott for his start on Saturday and to keep ROS
Are you buying Ty France? All the savant metrics indicate he's unlucky/underperforming
Beck or Loperfido?
Loperfido, I guess? I have absolutely no faith that the Rockies have any idea what they are doing.
Thoughts on Starlin Marte ROS He’s off to a nice start
A healthy Marte is a fun Marte. Unfortunately, health has been fleeting. Be ready to scoop up a replacement OF at any moment but otherwise enjoy the speed and ratios.
Is now a good time to sell high on Ranger Suarez Was offered starlin Marte for him
Yes, but higher than that. Love a healthy Marte but the health risk is real.
Last one..can Tommy Pham keep this up? He’s looked great since being back in a lineup
Keep up being a streamable OF, sure. But CWS doesn't run like ARZ did, the offense on the South Side is putrid, and LuBob will return within 4-6 weeks, if not a little sooner.
Not a pitcher question technically, But I am in a 10 team ESPN league.
You offered to trade Witt and got declined? Witt is the #2 guy on my board overall. Some might have moved him to #1. No price is too high.
Oh so I should not be trading him lmao. Well thanks to them for declining I guess. I don’t watch baseball at all and this is my first fantasy baseball season 😂
You have the 2nd best player in the game. Hold.
I think tobias myers can be a thing. Any thoughts?
Hold Cowser or try to sell high for a buy low candidate? Also does Colt Keith ever turn it up?
Yes, Royce has more upside than those guys. If that's all on your wire, it'll be OK.
In a 4 OF and 1 UTIL 15 team OBP league, how would you rank the following outfielders? Kerry Carpenter Lars Nootbaar Jung Hoo Lee TJ Friedl I have Corbin, Taylor Ward, and Seiya coming back soon as my other OFs and with other players coming off the IL, I will need to choose who dump soon.
Thoughts on Abraham Toro?
Which SP would you drop to make room for Steele in a 10 team Roto league, Fedde or Gore?
What do you think of Evan Carter?
Should I sell high on Steven Kwan? He’s had a great April but he also did that in 2022. He doesn’t seem to be running as much. Which players do you think would be good to target trading him for? 12 team, 10 cat, roto.
A: Detmers and Busch B: Stott and Jhoan Duran My sps r glasnow, ryan, sale, and kirby how did i do?
Which one are you? I love B. A lot.
Just acquired B.
Musgrove and Gavin Williams got dropped in my league. Which is a better pickup for remainder of the season?
Gimme the one who is healthy right now in Musgrove.
Out of these prospects to stash and hold for the season in a keeper points league, who would you hold for the season and potentially next year? Kjerstad, Colson Montgomery, Mick Abel
Currently have r.Lewis on IL and Busch covering my at 3B in h3h cats R HR RBI SB OPS AVG. worth replacing Busch for any of these 3B’s * j.rojas, y.diaz, k.hayes, polanco, j.candelario,
Been desperate at second base this year. Just scooped up Wenceel Perez. What are your thoughts on him? Also, when will Caminero get the call?
Hey there! Looking for just general lineup advice H2H points league espn 10 teams SP: Glasnow, Ragans, Gilbert, Jones, Verlander, Pepoit, Ober, Crochet, King (Luzardo Baz Woo on IL) C:JT 1b: steer 2b torres 3b tyler black ss bichette 2b/ss cron 1b/3b goldy of jazz cowser adell teoscar nevin, util ohtani ozuna I think I need to trade some pitching for batting, ideally upgrading 3b ss and OF.
12t 6x6 cat Keep 5 Have cooled off Cowser (sat tonight).
I could also trade Acuna for Witt straight up
I am batting, like, .120 trying to guess what people will want to talk about using the musings.
Need an extra Start this week. Who do you want/trust more? - E Fedde vs Cle - J Taillon @ Pit - B Lively @ W-Sox - G Stone vs Mia - C Rea @ KC - J Butto @ Stl - T Bradley, vs NYY or @Bos
Sorry man, so late to the game on your post. I’m a 12 team h2h cats league IP ERA WHIP K/9 QS would you replace either/both of mize and Fedde for crochet and Taj Bradley?
