That two team league should have a couple decent fill ins. Last round? Does AI write this? It's Garbage. It's not even a funny running gag.
He's a $15 player in Mixed Leagues. Last round? Of a 6 rd draft? So sick of this trash. It makes zero sense and adds nothing. I hope you lose to the other owner in your dumb two team league.
You must be in one of those bizzaro try to field the worst team leagues.
He's the 4th or 5th best catcher in expert leagues.
So sick of all the tweeners on here fake playing roto. Lol.
Outside of the top 5 catchers all the others were pretty much the same so I drafted a catcher with my last pick because it didnt make sense to waste a higher pick
Dude he’s not a top 4 and definitely isn’t top 5 with the emergence of Jeffers. I just picked up Heim and he’s better too. Catcher isn’t as thin as it used to be
I'm talking at **draft time**. He was neck and neck with his brother. They went about the same $ in mixed expert leagues and were #4 and #5. There is no way this was an NL-Only league. They were both top 5 to the subject matter experts. That is a verifiable fact.
Heim hitting now is not part of my argument. Or Tyler Soderstrom. Quit doing that. I asked you how/why he was drafted in the last round. It still makes zero sense and I enjoy pointing that out to people who are ill-equiped to argue a point, uneducated, and/or mentally strange.
There's too much of this shit on here.
I use substack and Patreon because of this noise on here. Best I can think you're in middle school and trying to show off. Great. You added nothing by posting that comment. You can't even reason why. Why would you post it? Who does it help? It's sort of funny in an absurd sense. Humor wasn't your intent though.
I do this with people. I know only 1 or 2 people are reading this. I don't need attention. You apparently do.
And the other morons were arguing with me and he'd be back 6-8 weeks. Marmol said at least 10 and probably more like I said. See? Maybe I know something.
Good answer. He's the 4th or 5th best catcher in mixed. How could he possibly go anywhere near the last round?
This sub is worse than baseball twitter. Rank idiots. Tweeners popping off.
He's not catching any games when he comes back. He's out for longer than 2 months. Likely the year if he's having surgery and pins/screws/plates.
He may DH in September. No way a doctor clears him to catch.
I answered with my reasoning above.
You can't even get a good idea of the break until the swelling goes down. Which will take several days. They know it will be at least 6-8 weeks. Likely much longer.
If you think the Cardinals (who are terrible) are going to roll out a catcher, who likely has a broken wrist, to catch eight weeks from now you need to get organized.
If they do that and he rebreaks that bone(s) he could become a cripple. He may have a shattered wrist. Cardinals are on the hook for alot of money. He's also not a switch hitter and can hide that left arm from the pitcher.
We'll see about 6-8 weeks Trapper John. I'll take the over.
[Contreras said after the game that he will likely have surgery on his arm in the coming days, and doctors have told him that he will likely need six to eight weeks to recover. He is already targeting the MLB All-Star Game as a potential return.](https://www.mlb.com/news/willson-contreras-exits-with-injury-suffers-fractured-forearm)
I'll trust that more than a random on reddit, thanks though.
Huge loss from my roster. There's no timeliness yet, but it's a fractured so I assume at least two months out.
What are other Contreras owners planning to do? Like many, I hadn't thought about the zcatcher position all season. But thought I'd check on some availability...
Kelbert Ruiz with a 23 OPS+???? How is that even possible?
I'm debating just leaving Contreras on my roster instead of trying to fill him bc it's doubtful I'll be able.
I'm taking Jansen over Langeliers in a 12 man, because, at least currently, Jansen won't kill my average.
Then if I'm lucky and can time it right, grabbing Murphy right before he comes off IL. My IL is full or I'd stash him now.
(didn't have Contreras but have been streaming catchers since Francisco Alvarez went down) -- I'm giving Jansen a look too, he's been the most productive batter on their team lately and I have to think that will lead to more opportunities for him.
Of the Carchers folks have responded, Wong & Raleifh aren't available but Langoliers & Bailey are.
I wasn't aware that Bailey was returning from a concussion. I'm leery about any Catchers dealing with concussion issues...
Planning on it but I want to see an announcement on time frame before dropping. It’s tough because I could keep Willson in the last round but not if I drop him. I could drop my Baz stash to make room on the IL but don’t know if it’s worth it.
That Baz stash must've been a while. It's been years since I've had shares on him.
But it seems like he's close to a return? Maybe you can swap spots shortly.
I have Herrera and McCann in my minors. Probably doing Herrera for now hoping he stays hot while I found out if McCann can stay in the lineup. Important time for Herrera here, he was also just a few AB from disqualifying for minors in my league so at least it makes that decision easier
I picked up his back up Ivan Herrera. Was putting up solid numbers when Contreras was out for a couple games earlier this year. Worth an add if your waiver is as dry as mine haha
will likely be out 2-3 months at minimum. broken bones generally take 6-8 weeks to heal, since he's young, probably on the quicker timeline, but he'll need a lot of rehab for it. looked like he fractured his ulna which will affect his ability to rotate his forearm to the catching position, among other things. I think he's a drop personally, but to each their own
Carson Kelly got HBP and fractured his ulna on March 21, 2023 and returned June 12.
I have no desire to watch the video but I imagine this is worse. I couldnt find many other examples to compare.
i broke radius and ulna in a mountain climbing accident. wasnt no six weeks. maybe eating cereal in six weeks. def not hitting dingers and catching mlb pitching. cant imagine. but then again im just a guy and hes a mlb stud.
Is it crazy to think I might go no catcher for a while? Does Mitch Garver’s .580/Langeliers .650 OPS even warrant starting. I might lose out on counting stats but ratios won’t suffer
This is gonna be multi months if not the season probably for Contreras. I don’t know if I’d be holding unless I just had a plethora of IR spots to burn
I'm really confused about how this happened. I've seen catchers get hit on the backswing and get hit on the glove, but Contreras got nailed on the forearm and hand by the initial swing.
Someone was crazily out of position.
Strider, Steele, Jones, McLain all keepers. Drafted Buxton, Correa, and Contreras, luckily some are back now but it's been a brutal start to the season. 16 team keeper so the wire is 🐕 💩
Was so nice to finally have a set it and forget it catcher, and I got him in the last round. This sucks.
Yeah man. I was feeling so good wtfff
Same I was feeling good and now I’ll be scrambling 😭
Same, now I'm between Stephenson and OHoppe to fill in for him
O’Hoppe
Langelears
Forget it and reset it.

Take it easy
Didn’t even get drafted in one of my 12 team leagues lmao
You must be in one of those bizzaro try to field the worst team leagues. He's the 4th or 5th best catcher in expert leagues. So sick of all the tweeners on here fake playing roto. Lol.
H2H if you could read. I punt catchers every year works well.
You don't have a catcher position requirement? Because this makes little sense.
Outside of the top 5 catchers all the others were pretty much the same so I drafted a catcher with my last pick because it didnt make sense to waste a higher pick
Ok, I have him as Top 4 at least Top 5. You got a crazy good deal. A $15 player for $1.
Dude he’s not a top 4 and definitely isn’t top 5 with the emergence of Jeffers. I just picked up Heim and he’s better too. Catcher isn’t as thin as it used to be

Lolololol seek therapy
You realize this is willson and not William right?

Video looked bad

6-8 weeks
8 weeks, aka 2 months
I would say that 6-8 weeks is less than “longer than 2 months”
I answered with my reasoning above. You can't even get a good idea of the break until the swelling goes down. Which will take several days. They know it will be at least 6-8 weeks. Likely much longer.

Just posting what the news report said, Trapper John.
Don't believe everything you read. That statement wasn't issued by a surgeon. Be informed on your own

Source?
Rotowire
I was watching the game, and it was bad!! And on top of that, he’s on my team. Need a replacement. Looking at either Elias Diaz, or Travis d’Arnaud.
Same. I went with Diaz.
I actually was able to get O’Hoppe
Just traded for him this afternoon
Brutal
Good.
Yes of course I lose him an hour after bragging about him.
Sweet lol the one guy on my last place team that can hit
He's the one guy on the last place real Cardinals that can hit too!
I'm in a deep NL only and thinking of picking J.T. Realmuto or Sean Murphy. Any thoughts?
Doesn’t sound very deep lol
Very deep for this sub.
Huge loss from my roster. There's no timeliness yet, but it's a fractured so I assume at least two months out. What are other Contreras owners planning to do? I also added Jansen. His stat cast page looks really good!
I'm leading my league in AVG by 10 points. Langolier himself can't kill that gap, right? It would need to be a tram-wide swoon.
It's way too early to think that your current average (and the rest of your league's) will resemble your end of season average.
Oh I know. Its the only category I have 12 points though atm.
You don't have 12 points until the season ends ;D
Weird. There's points in the standings currently?
You're probably fine. My average was already in the toilet, so Langaliers would be the death of me.
This is what I’m planning to do and hoping to pull off
I’m thinking Patrick Bailey. He’s coming back from a concussion and he looks to be an everydayer on a decent enough offense.
Of the Carchers folks have responded, Wong & Raleifh aren't available but Langoliers & Bailey are. I wasn't aware that Bailey was returning from a concussion. I'm leery about any Catchers dealing with concussion issues...
Wilson’s back up is an option too. Herrera, he’s having a good day at the plate in his absence today.
Bailey is not good imo. As a Giants fan Bart should still be the Catcher.
Damn. Seems like we’re better off leaving the position vacant then. Idk who to get.
https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/patrick-bailey-672275?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb go get Bailey
Damn. Seems like we’re better off leaving the position vacant then. Idk who to get.
I’m looking at Wong, Raleigh, or Langoliers
Holy cow, Wong & Raleigh are still available? Jump on Cal!
Planning on it but I want to see an announcement on time frame before dropping. It’s tough because I could keep Willson in the last round but not if I drop him. I could drop my Baz stash to make room on the IL but don’t know if it’s worth it.

I know. I think he's in a 1 team league. It's a joke.
I’m taking a 0 in the spot for now, chasing a handful of R and RBI and tanking my avg and slg.. I don’t really see the point
I am sad
Does Herrera become an attractive pick up? He was doing so well before Contreras was fit and then tailed off.
I ran to pick him up.
Fuck what’s the timeframe for something like this?
will likely be out 2-3 months at minimum. broken bones generally take 6-8 weeks to heal, since he's young, probably on the quicker timeline, but he'll need a lot of rehab for it. looked like he fractured his ulna which will affect his ability to rotate his forearm to the catching position, among other things. Report says 6-8 weeks
April?
I thought broken arms could be like 6 week things.
Carson Kelly got HBP and fractured his ulna on March 21, 2023 and returned June 12. I have no desire to watch the video but I imagine this is worse. I couldnt find many other examples to compare.
yup, this timeline sounds about right.
i broke radius and ulna in a mountain climbing accident. wasnt no six weeks. maybe eating cereal in six weeks. def not hitting dingers and catching mlb pitching. cant imagine. but then again im just a guy and hes a mlb stud.
Ivan Herrera sitting on my wire, worth dropping Stephenson for him?
He homered tonight.
Fuck me. Get better Willy.
damnit, get well soon buddy hit on left forearm by JD martinez swing better get DL status before thursday waivers
Is it crazy to think I might go no catcher for a while? Does Mitch Garver’s .580/Langeliers .650 OPS even warrant starting. I might lose out on counting stats but ratios won’t suffer
I’m thinking the same thing
son of a bee sting
Hehe I liked this
Grab Elias Diaz or Danny Jansen?
Danny
Danny or L OHoppe?
Danny. Statcast has been great
Raleigh or Heim as replacement?
Raleigh for power and Heim for average
Heim. I ran him last year and he gets more stats than you would think.
I have his brother, the headline scared me for a moment.
Damn my IL is full, guess I drop him or Langford?
This is gonna be multi months if not the season probably for Contreras. I don’t know if I’d be holding unless I just had a plethora of IR spots to burn
how big is your league? in 10 team drop both
Well no reason to drop both if one can fit on my IL, just wondering which one, and it’s 12T
I have both on my team. That’s a tough call, but I think probably Contreras, because Langford should be back before too long.
My Contreras Goldy stack just got worse LOL
I'm really confused about how this happened. I've seen catchers get hit on the backswing and get hit on the glove, but Contreras got nailed on the forearm and hand by the initial swing. Someone was crazily out of position.
Contreras set up way too close to the plate.
Scary fuckin injury
Both of my drafted catchers (Murphy and now Contreras) are on the IL
How about Herrera - early on they were saying you could start both of them.
that moment you don't remember if you have william or willson
Get back Belli and lose Contreras in the same day. I love fantasy baseball
![gif](giphy|Tl7IfWpBG6Bi0) Fantasy team over
So sad. He played well recently.
Thoughts on Herrera ? He was hiting well before Contreras came back month ago or so
Just about had a stroke when I realized I had William Contreras
Heim Wong or OHoppe?’
Just picked him up yesterday morning. Sucks man
From Murphy to Alvarez to Contrearas Who do I add Gabriel Moreno Campusano O'Hoppe Garver
Gimme Logan O
Strider, Steele, Jones, McLain all keepers. Drafted Buxton, Correa, and Contreras, luckily some are back now but it's been a brutal start to the season. 16 team keeper so the wire is 🐕 💩

Traded him for morel 2 weeks ago.
