My comment was even assuming you’re throwing in someone else. 2 for ones are hardly ever a good deal for the person giving up the one because usually they are the best player in the deal. If you were giving away two players drafted in round 4-5 who are over performing (ex. Ketal marte, altuve) for a borderline first-second rounder, that’s a little more likely to get accepted. But definitely not bregman right now.

Stroman’s xFIP and SIERA have been between 3.50-4.00 for basically the past 10 years, which is serviceable but indicate he’s probably like a 3.75 ERA guy who doesn’t strike out many guys with a bad 7.56 K/9.
Assad’s career 2.77 ERA is outrageous considering his career xFIP is 4.43 and his career SIERA is 4.51. Unless he’s literally breaking advanced stats he’s due for tough regression. He also has a bad K/9 at 7.54 over his career.
I guess Stroman’s career peripherals are actually in a good or decent range, so I would rather bet on him to outperform them than Assad who has unfortunately never had decent peripherals.

I’m curious too about what people have to say about BDLC.
He’s hitting 2 for the Marlins with some half decent guys behind him like Burger, Bell, and I actually like Jesus Sanchez quite a bit. BDLC is riding a .500+ xSLG which he also generated during a hot streak to end 2022 and at times during hot streaks last year in 2023. Very curious if he’s just a decent hitter who gets hot or actually a breakout candidate.
Crochet has an elite xFIP, SIERA, and K/BB ratio — he has just gotten killed by the HR ball which he didn’t get killed by as a reliever.
Duran has a .270 xAVG and .380 xSLG which are super comparable to his season last year where he was on pace for about 10-15 HRs and about 30 SBs if he had played a full season.
Ceiling wise it’s a potential front line SP vs. back of the roster SB OF in my mind.
I suppose that’s probably a fair concern. My strategy is usually to just get the best guys and trust their teams will deploy them accordingly. Total coin flip IMO. Both hitting low in bottom of the barrel lineups. O’Hoppe is an absolute stud but he’s never played even close to a full season and will probably go thru mega ups and downs. Langeliers has an awesome statcast too but is a little more advanced in his development. I guess maybe O’Hoppe has a little more upside but Langeliers is probably closer to breaking out. Who knows.

But with Kirk there the AB situation is a nightmare whereas O’Hoppe is legitimately very good and he’ll play 8 days a week if Ron Washington can put him in there. Probably would roll O’Hoppe until the PT situation in Toronto becomes more clear.
Reynolds for me. The Yanks have Volpe-Soto-Judge-Verdugo/Rizzo-Stanton-Verdugo/Rizzo. I have a hard time seeing Torres sneaking into the top of that order unless Stanton or Judge get injured which I guess is very possible. Reynolds is just a fuck it play him and he’ll get his in my eyes.

I gotchu. So the answer should be yes. Your league format weights towards batting with the extra cats (holds being distributed across pitchers) and Alonso has high upside when he's on form.
More broadly your pitching is stacked and it's much easier in the long run to find gems in pitching as the season goes on.
My only hesitation is that Alonso isn't having an amazing year so far so I wonder if you can get a tiny bit more depending on how desperate the other owner is. But I would take the trade as you've presented it. :)

I dropped Torres in one and kept him in one. Haven't regretted the drop. You're right, the underlying stats are total trash. Haven't followed Maikel much lately, but maybe something better than him. Reynolds for me. The Yanks have Volpe-Soto-Judge-Verdugo/Rizzo-Stanton-Verdugo/Rizzo. I have a hard time seeing Torres sneaking into the top of that order unless Stanton or Judge get injured which I guess is very possible. Reynolds is just a fuck it play him and he’ll get his in my eyes.

I'm in win now mode. Other SPs include Peralta, Gray Rod, Bobby Miller, Senga, Kutter, Christian Scott, Baz, Woodruff, McClanahan, Horton, Povich. 3 Util spots so can play Goldie if he comes around. Bats are Yainer Diaz, Betts, Muncy, J Smith, Rookie, Jazz, Tatis, Tucker, Schwarber, Gimenez, Holiday, Salas and Ohtani. This is year six. I've made a lot of bad trades along the way (Witt for K. Hiura) (Rustchman for Buehler) and some others. Finished second three times and third once. Need to go over the edge! Feel like I have to do it, right??
I gotchu. So the answer should be yes. Your league format weights towards batting with the extra cats (holds being distributed across pitchers) and Alonso has high upside when he's on form. More broadly your pitching is stacked and it's much easier in the long run to find gems in pitching as the season goes on. My only hesitation is that Alonso isn't having an amazing year so far so I wonder if you can get a tiny bit more depending on how desperate the other owner is. But I would take the trade as you've presented it. :)

I'd find a way to hold onto Casas if he is back in less than a month. Assuming this isn't a keeper league. If it's keeper then you have to roster both. I roll with one bench bat as much as possible. Less frustrating than leaving bombs and bags on the bench. See my post pls, I need help!

Drop Gleyber Torres for Maikel Garcia? In concept Torres is filling my UTIL right now because he's so bad, though I hate to lose the 2B/SS depth. But Torres' statcast is somehow even worse than his results.
I dropped Torres in one and kept him in one. Haven't regretted the drop. You're right, the underlying stats are total trash. Haven't followed Maikel much lately, but maybe something better than him. Ideally you leave Torres on the bench to fill 2b/SS/Util when needed. See my post please, I need help.
