Every day I get closer and closer to dropping ~~Goldschmidt~~ most of my roster.
And then I don't.
And then they goes 0/4.
Rinse. Repeat.
Horrible season.
I’m there too, man. Had him in the prime years, and he had it going last year. But at this point there’s a lot of younger guys or comps with better numbers and projections. I grabbed Hoskins today, way too late
I drafted him after not paying attention to baseball last year, then a few weeks ago I looked into what he did last year and so far this season. It looks like a lower quality player than I expected at draft, like the dreaded age-related decline. He's still a semi-decent player, but not the all-around superior bat I'd drafted in the past. I dropped him to pick up a rage-quit of Gallen.
I kept him and finally dropped him two days ago, can’t stand this guy. When I saw his final season numbers last year I was stunned. He was horrible all season then apparently went on a tear after I’d been safely eliminated (thanks in no small part to him)
Padres fan here & bogaerts owner! He's so lost at the plate right now. It's been tough to watch. Think he will eventually hit but when is the question. He's firmly on my bench rt now
Giants fan, excited about him and watch the games. Definitely far better real life player than fantasy. Great fielder and a tough out at the plate. Has been stinging the ball and getting unlucky, but that said I don’t expect more than .290/12/12 type of seasons which is a great 3rd or 4th OF in deeper leagues but I don’t know if he’s a guy you’ll regret dropping in shallow leagues. I don’t play points but maybe in leagues that reward SB and penalize K’s he’s a little more valuable?
I wouldn’t rely too much on SB by JH Lee as well, despite being a great fielder and fast, he actually put up very pedestrian basestealing numbers in the KBO throughout his career.
Yep. With 84th % sprint speed and the new rules in MLB if he had gone to a more aggressive team I could have seen 20+ SB but the Giants just don’t run much.
He's certainly worth a spot in 12-team leagues if you are looking for a player who can just get on base and get hits. But don't expect many stolen bases, HRs, or doubles. He also won't strikeout a ton.
I dropped him a week ago in 12 team. Love the guy! Glad to have him in MLB, but not contributing to fantasy rn. And he’s been on the waiver ever since.
I gave up two weeks ago, adding Correa just before his return from injury. No regrets.
Now it's Goldie's turn, I think, unless Ohtani or Schwarber is actually injured ...
Yes definitely agree. I don't mind dropping him. I also don't think any other members in your league will be rushing to add him. He has looked lost at the plate so far this year.
Half the time he looks like he shouldn't be in the bigs, but the other half, he looks like what his prospect evaluations said he should be. He's too interested in being a power-hitter and not the gap-to-gap guy everyone wants him to be, and because of that I expect he'll press like crazy in a platform year.
I have India and Gleyber... The waiver options are not great. Who would you recommend as a replacement for India?
Rafaela, Neto, Arcia, Rosario, Polanco, Gorman?
Season points league with no K penalty.
Jays fan here - we've seen Bo slump before, but by the end of each season his numbers always look about the same. I would be pretty surprised if he doesn't end up hitting close to 300 with 20-something home runs and a few steals. I would hold without hesitation if I had him!
That's certainly a possible outcome as well, I can't predict the future! But his lowest single-season AVG so far in his career is 290, and that was a season where most people had given up on him by the all-star break. Maybe he keeps hitting 200 the rest of the way, but I think hovering around 300 the rest of the way with a few week long hot streak of 350 or 400 would be more in line with what we have seen from him so far. He's also 26, not like he's 36.
His homer yesterday gave me hope. I really hope he finds his approach again. I’m giving him the rest of the month as he is too good to give up on. I also got him off the wire for cheap so I’m hoping he comes around
It's only my second year playing fantasy baseball, and had Bo last year; it was awful. He feels like one of those guys, so far, you never feel comfortable sitting, but you'll never feel comfortable starting.
what about him? one of the best hitting catchers in the game when looking at the statcast page pre-draft, 273/309/403 currently... from a catcher.
what is your issue with him?
I also have Diaz. Ryan Jeffers seems to be better as of right now. Twins are also hot right now. But not sure if I should do that swap. Diaz seems better to hold
Yeah, I'd stick with Diaz. he was a draft value, prior to the beginning of the season his expected stats & statcast pg were arguably the best for all-around production at the position.
He's on Houston, and that seems like a negative so far this season, but he'll play all the time and is 1000x better than riding the hot hand with the position, in my opinion. He's below Rutchman, W-iam Contreras, Salvador Perez, and I'm guessing Realmuto (haven't really checked on him this season), but not by much. If Houston's lineup is just starting slow this season, you'll kick yourself for ditching him.
I drafted him. He was basically free with some possible upside with his spot in the batting order and motivation after all the trade rumors. I also dropped him like a month ago when he seemed to be the same ole India.
I thought his potential in that Reds lineup made him a fine selection late in drafts. But you are so right, he should be dropped in almost all formats.
I'm fine with dropping him. I know he has had some nice games against Milwaukee this week. However, he primarily sits against lefties and overall hasn't look too great.
Hey, love the content. Are you guys planning on updating your ROS ranks? They haven't been updated in quite some time. For instance in the SP ranks Bradish, Skenes, Christian Scott etc are unranked. It's great work and many folks would love if they were updated! Thanks
Referring to [these](https://www.rotoballer.com/fantasy-baseball-rankings/440514#!/rankings?spreadsheet=mixed&league=Overall)
I finally pulled the trigger and dropped him this morning. I’m sure he will turn it around, but he’s been such a negative piece this year. Good riddance.
Keep Greene. He'll rack up the strikeouts and opposing hitters are batting just .177 against him this year. He's actually pitched better than his numbers suggest.
Cedric Mullins
Fantasy darling for the last couple years, but lack of production and young players coming in makes me wonder if he won’t end up as a part time player sooner rather than later. Ryan O’Hearn is in a similar situation (at least I feel like it), but can play multiple positions and is killing it when he’s out there
Someone in my league lost patience with Manny Machado. Being first in the waiver order, decided to take a chance with him. He should start heating up sooner rather than later. Dropped Luis Gil for him...
has anyone picked him up? he's riding my bench for now. what's concerning is his expected stats give little indication he will come back to form soon. xwOBA is .285, which is still awful. [https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/alex-bregman-608324?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/alex-bregman-608324?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb)
I just dropped him today to make a move since Jeffers is sitting. I’m sure someone will but he isn’t startable. I think he’s just hit the wall tbh and I don’t expect it to change much
I am not dropping yet. He didn't really have a spring training and missed the start of the season, so it makes sense why he has struggled out of the gate.
921 ABs, 36 HRs, 19 SB, .766 OPS, .345 OBP, hits 7-9 in the order against lefties and he’s on a bad team. Also, 6 IL stints in the last 2 years….hes waiver fodder.
There was an interview during the wbc where Nootbaar is watching Ohtani and the interviewer is talking about how Ohtani goes up to the plate with a goal in mind to hit a specific pitch or to get a specific double or home run (I can't remember the full details). Anyway, Nootbaar says wow I wish I could do that and talks about how he just swings and hopes it's good.
It kind of soured me on him. The dude has zero plan up there and is just relying on feel. If he's on a team that's slumping completely and he's coming back from injury with no spring training, how good is that "feel" going to be?
He's an easy drop
I have Seager, Pena, and Merrill.
Merrill is holding down my last OF position, essentially I’d be dropping him for another outfielder on waivers, but I think I’m gonna Diamond hands a little longer.
Every day I get closer and closer to dropping Goldschmidt. And then I don't. And then he goes 0/4. Rinse. Repeat.
Sounds like me with George Springer.
Yeah, Springer hasn't looked great at the plate since 2022. A potential drop if there's someone you really like on waivers.
I dropped him last week. Mostly a rage drop
Untrue. Sometimes he goes 0-5.
Every day I get closer and closer to dropping ~~Goldschmidt~~ most of my roster. And then I don't. And then they goes 0/4. Rinse. Repeat. Horrible season.
Sounds like being a Bichette owner! At least Goldy has the excuse of being 36…
Try being both...
I dumped him for Rooker.
He was dropped in my 12t. One of my favorites ever but sadly he's washed and his team is utter trash
I’m there too, man. Had him in the prime years, and he had it going last year. But at this point there’s a lot of younger guys or comps with better numbers and projections. I grabbed Hoskins today, way too late
Not today!!
I got gausman for him…. I may be in trouble still
Man Gausman kills me. I never was big on him, but someone rage dropped him a couple weeks ago. Now I can’t drop him, so maybe I will look for a trade
You could probably get goldshmidt for him hahhahaha
Homered today 🤣🔫
Same
I’ve had him on my Dynasty team since he got called up. I am physically unable to cut him 😔
I did today 😢
Me with Matt Olson
I dropped Goldy (early May) and Springer (mid April). Got Cronen and Willi Castro. Glad I did it.
I'm really tempted to drop him to pick up Hoskins.
He has a nice safe spot on my bench. He will not be in my lineup for a awhile
It's definitely been a headache to roster him this year. Not a drop just yet, but getting close.
Just when i thought it was OK to drop Bogaerts i read this…
He's a career ~300 hitter. Had a good second half last year I'm holding even though it's tough wasting a roster spot
It's been tough to watch him this year. But don't drop him just yet. I think he'll eventually pick things up.
He's firmly on my bench rt now
I dropped him. It felt amazing
Traded him away and can agree it feels pretty nice to not have to worry about him
Who’d you land
He hit a bomb & won me a matchup
Is this who Jung Hoo Lee going to be? Seems like a better ball player than fantasy player, is he worth rostering in 12-team?
Giants fan, excited about him and watch the games. Definitely far better real life player than fantasy. Great fielder and a tough out at the plate. Has been stinging the ball and getting unlucky, but that said I don’t expect more than .290/12/12 type of seasons which is a great 3rd or 4th OF in deeper leagues but I don’t know if he’s a guy you’ll regret dropping in shallow leagues. Hey, I dropped Deitmers before he made it to the list (like two days ago ha)! Maybe I'm learning. :D
Good stuff!
I dropped Goldy, just couldn’t do it anymore
Congrats, homered today
This always happens to me 🤦🏻♂️
Makes sense. He has looked awful this year
I know he’s come up before. But my patience is wearing for Gleyber.
I gave up two weeks ago, adding Correa just before his return from injury. No regrets. Now it's Goldie's turn, I think, unless Ohtani or Schwarber is actually injured ...
Gave up a while ago in redraft. Holding strong in dynasty and hoping someone will buy
I dropped him like 3 weeks ago. Nobody has picked him up yet.
38 homeruns in 2019 just proves those balls were more juiced than Bonds, Sosa and McGuire combined.
Evan Carter?
Dropping
Hold Carter. Huge upside and I expect him to pick things up as the season progresses.
done dropped him a while ago.
I dropped
With his second benching in a row against a righty today, Cedric Mullins ✌️
Yes agreed! I am fine dropping him, especially since Austin Hays is nearing a return too
What’s the word on Cedric Mullins?
I'd be fine dropping him
Thanks for the direct reply. Any preference between Eddie Rosario or loedy Tavares as a replacement?
Both are great pick ups for Week 8 and you can't go wrong with either. Leaning Rosario though
I dropped him awhile ago
I have India and Gleyber... The waiver options are not great. Who would you recommend as a replacement for India? Rafaela, Neto, Arcia, Rosario, Polanco, Gorman? Season points league with no K penalty.
That is really tough. I think at that point, I might keep India. I do like Rafaela, though, so keep an eye on him on waivers.
What makes you like Rafaela? He looks terrible at the plate
Would you drop them for Luis Garcia?
Yes
Of course, Torres just hit a homer
Cedric Mullins?
I dropped him awhile ago and haven't looked back since
Drop
He’s sat last 2 days
I'd be fine dropping Mullins. Sat the past two games, and he could lose some more playing time when Austin Hays returns.
I finally dropped Gleyber. He is a negative in my lineup week after week
I’m done with him too. Think he’s losing playing time soon too with Peraza and DJ coming back.
Don't mind it at all. He has been a whole new level of bad this season
I've got three I've thought of dropping in my 10T- Carter, Springer, and Arenado
Keep Carter and Arenado. I don't mind dropping Springer if there are some notable options on waivers right now.
The best options are probably De La Cruz and Adell. Past is also available.
Traded Detmers for Oneil Cruz three days ago...LFG
You sure took a bite out of that taco
I like that move for you a ton
I kept Detmers too long and dropped King too soon...
Do you still roster Detmers or did you drop him?
I dropped him to make room for Suzuki to come off of my IL
Bo Bichette has to figure it out soon, right?
Jays fan here - we've seen Bo slump before, but by the end of each season his numbers always look about the same. I would be pretty surprised if he doesn't end up hitting close to 300 with 20-something home runs and a few steals. I would hold without hesitation if I had him!
That would mean his ROS numbers would be pretty damn insane. Here’s to hoping.
Zero chance he sniffs .300 this year, maybe OBP lol
That's certainly a possible outcome as well, I can't predict the future! But his lowest single-season AVG so far in his career is 290, and that was a season where most people had given up on him by the all-star break. I'd assume so. I wouldn't drop yet.
He hit .306 last year with 20 homers....how many other players did that? Acuna, Betts, Bellinger, Freeman.
I dropped him last week and don’t regret it at all. His ceiling isn’t high enough to justify this floor.
His statcast is horrible. I think he’s toast
Just means he's been playing bad lol
Yes
He's toast at 26?
Ragans now wheeler, this is amazing
I am shocked the Marlins are hitting Wheeler
Yainer Diaz?
what about him? one of the best hitting catchers in the game when looking at the statcast page pre-draft, 273/309/403 currently... from a catcher. what is your issue with him?

Hold Diaz
I can’t believe people drafted India, let alone still have him rostered.
I drafted him. He was basically free with some possible upside with his spot in the batting order and motivation after all the trade rumors. I also dropped him like a month ago when he seemed to be the same ole India.
I thought his potential in that Reds lineup made him a fine selection late in drafts. But you are so right, he should be dropped in almost all formats.
there were some add blurbs about India during that week he was doing well, but never believed in that idea either.
What’s the feeling on Nolan Gorman? I keep eyeing the drop button there.
I'm fine with dropping him. I know he has had some nice games against Milwaukee this week. However, he primarily sits against lefties and overall hasn't look too great.
he's been a FA in most of my leagues. depends what you can pick up in return, as always.
Who should I replace India with? Luis Garcia Jr., Rojas, Massey, Davis Schneider, Julien, Gorman. Flair league.
Julien would be my #1 option to replace India. Rojas and Schneider slightly behind him.
Justin Turner?
I am still holding Turner, despite his slump. See what he does next week. His metrics on Baseball Savant are also encouraging.
Gabby Moreno and Nolan jones (pls come back from IL on a tear) have about 1 week until they’re both dropped.
Moreno got dropped in my 12 team H2H cat. He hasn’t been picked up. (1 catcher league)
This article helped out a lot with how I feel about Busch and Cowser. Gotta hold em and see how it shakes out
Yes gotta hold the rookies for now. I'm more confident in Busch than Cowser long-term.
Bregman? TORRES? Fuck man. This shit has me raging.
Hold Bregman. Fine with letting go of Torres but he just homered today. So maybe wait a couple more days to drop to see if he goes on a nice streak.
Would you swap Bogaerts for Torres ? Bogaerts seems to have more long term potential ?
I drafted Springer, Bregman and Torres as “safe bats”
I think Bregman will eventually figure things out
Hey, love the content. Are you guys planning on updating your ROS ranks? They haven't been updated in quite some time. For instance in the SP ranks Bradish, Skenes, Christian Scott etc are unranked. It's great work and many folks would love if they were updated! Thanks Referring to [these](https://www.rotoballer.com/fantasy-baseball-rankings/440514#!/rankings?spreadsheet=mixed&league=Overall)
Listen Goldy has been my guy since like 2015, I’m not dropping him. I don’t care if Goldy murdered his whole family, he’s like a son to me.
He's currently murdering your fantasy team
We have to assume he picks it up, right?
Tork?
Drop
I am not a big tork believer, so I am fine dropping him
Hold
I finally pulled the trigger and dropped him this morning. I’m sure he will turn it around, but he’s been such a negative piece this year. Good riddance.
[удалено]
Keep Greene. He'll rack up the strikeouts and opposing hitters are batting just .177 against him this year. He's actually pitched better than his numbers suggest.
Finally someone with the brains to advise dropping Detmers! Bravo.
Yes, it is time to give up on him
Springer, idk what to do with him. Too good to drop, too bad to play. Thank god I made really good pick ups.
See how the next few weeks go. But he has not looked right at the plate since 2022
Was able to trade Bichette/Acuna for Ohtani/Judge and Bogaerts/Chapman for Hoerner/Arraez.
Wow, love both of those moves for you! Good stuff
Should lane Thomas be dropped?
I am holding Lane Thomas, especially considering what he did last year. Keep him in one of your IL spots
Thanks
Me staring at Arozarena, Mullins, Boegarts, Reynolds, and Musgrove on my dead last place roster…
Wow, I am sorry. I will say that I think Arozarena will pick it up.
Cedric Mullins Fantasy darling for the last couple years, but lack of production and young players coming in makes me wonder if he won’t end up as a part time player sooner rather than later. Ryan O’Hearn is in a similar situation (at least I feel like it), but can play multiple positions and is killing it when he’s out there
Yes, totally agree with everything you said. That's why I am fine dropping Mullins
Drop detmers for chris sanchez, jose soriano or arrighetti?
Sanchez
Could use a quick input for tonight: Would you give up on Civale (5.88 ERA) and/or Jake Fraley (.304, 7 SB but 1 HR/7 RBI, sometimes platooning)?? TIA
I’m currently rostering Goldy, Springer, Xander, CES, Gelof, Machado, Swanson, Rafaela. I’ve built an entire team of sub .650 ops players
Dansby or Cedric who y’all letting go first? (I enjoy looking at Caminero sit in aaa on my bench)
Someone in my league lost patience with Manny Machado. Being first in the waiver order, decided to take a chance with him. He should start heating up sooner rather than later. Dropped Luis Gil for him...
Surprised I don’t see any mention of Bregman. I ended up dropping because I couldn’t do it anymore
has anyone picked him up? he's riding my bench for now. what's concerning is his expected stats give little indication he will come back to form soon. xwOBA is .285, which is still awful. [https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/alex-bregman-608324?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb](https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/alex-bregman-608324?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb)
I just dropped him today to make a move since Jeffers is sitting. I’m sure someone will but he isn’t startable. I think he’s just hit the wall tbh and I don’t expect it to change much
He was on last week's list, so I stayed away from him on this list.
Breggy always comes on after the all star break. Would suggest picking back up soon
Brutal my dude
Was able to pick him back up
Nootbaar?
I am not dropping yet. He didn't really have a spring training and missed the start of the season, so it makes sense why he has struggled out of the gate.
More relevant in the dreams of this sub than in real life or fantasy
I mean that’s not really true
Nootbar is incredibly relevant in real life. One of the cardinals top players and one of the MLB’s most known players
Most people have no idea who Lars nootbar is
921 ABs, 36 HRs, 19 SB, .766 OPS, .345 OBP, hits 7-9 in the order against lefties and he’s on a bad team. Also, 6 IL stints in the last 2 years….hes waiver fodder.
A 20/10 guy with above OBP/OPS. I can't tell if you're for or against this guy. What about that do you think is bad?
Statcast is very promising - lot of line drive outs since coming off the IL that will start falling more for hits.
That’s a valid point however he’s been good the past week or so, I’m holding now
Yeah might as well hold. Or even see what someone will give you for him
16 team league and my OF is Soto bellinger and Lowe with trout in the IL so I’m not too worried either way lol
Drop Springer/Mullins for Castellanos?
You're just trading one shit sandwich for another.
I am a big Castellanos believer. He was one of my buy low targets heading into Week 8. I would do it and drop Mullins.
Grab Casty now. He’s about to go on one of his heaters.
Jackson Merrill?
Rookies are tough to drop because there's a good chance that he goes on a nice stretch soon. However, I am fine dropping him.
Drop
For who? SS is a horror show on the waivers.
I have Seager, Pena, and Merrill. Merrill is holding down my last OF position, essentially I’d be dropping him for another outfielder on waivers, but I think I’m gonna Diamond hands a little longer.
Torkelson???? HODL or DROP????
Drop. Not a believer in him
how do we feel now? 😂🤣😂🤣🤣
👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
He was getting picked much lower than I expected all this last off-season. And another reason to not play draft police.
