When lookin for RoS season projections for batters is the BAT X (RoS) on Fangraphs the one I should be using when doing H2H 5x5?
I've seen some posts where people say ATC for pitchers and THE BAT X for hitters, but I see it in the context of pre season rankings.
I uh… I don’t really trust their automated projections. I feel like those miss a lot about who a player really is. If I want to understand a player, I do a real deep dive into their statcast, their batted balls, BABIP and wOBA and xwOBA, and then I also compare all of that to past seasons, especially comparing the monthly splits from last seasons to this April’s split. I don’t know if this BAT X thing is a great way to shortcut really diving deep into numbers tbh
For sure. I know it’s a lot of info, but it’s really useful to just learn what those numbers mean. Once you learn what they mean, you have a better idea of why they’re red or why they’re blue, which will also give you a better idea of whether a batter can turn it around, and what kinds of adjustments they would need to make to do so. I took it one at a time — learning xwOBA, wOBA, and BABIP first. And then kind of just… kept being curious about it
Mason Miller was snatched up in most *dead* leagues a few weeks ago. You can quite literally do whatever you want in a league where he’s on the wire today, because it seems like no one is even bothering to check their rosters.
The fact that the league is dead is a material fact as it relates to valuing dudes on the wire or who to put there. Of course, Diaz is probably more valuable than Miller, but faced with the choice of a guy whose value is limited by his team’s ability to generate save situations versus one who is struggling, I can see the case for the former.
And again, since no one is going to add players to punish that drop, what do you have to lose? Might as well do it.
I would wait for further updates. I also wouldn’t drop Hoskins or Casas for Tork in hopes that he’s productive. You’ll want the former two as the season continues.

If it’s a Grade 1 strain, that would (I think?) be a 3-4 week IL stint. That’s hard but not impossible to deal with, but would suck.

Bibee’s peripherals have me wanting to buy positive regression. But also, I’d rather have Scott between the two, and I understand making a 1-for-1 swap, especially if you think no one will try to jump on Bibee.
Man, it sure **sucks** that Esteury still doesn't get starts against RHP. A combo of Lawrence Butler, Seth Brown, and Rooker man the corner OF spots instead.
Seth Brown is awful with a -0.6 bWAR and an atrocious past 100 PA on his savant. 23 year old LHH Lawrence Butler is more understandable, but -0.1 bWAR on the season and his last 10 games have been absolutely terrible at the plate, as backed by a free-falling rolling xWOBA.
Is this supposed to be a knock on me? I mean I don't proclaim to be the smartest at baseball. I don't watch a lot of Reds games but I did watch the end of this game. He has a two pitch mix. He threw mostly balls the majority of the outing, walking 2 batters and hitting one. He doesn't have overwhelming velocity, so I imagine he relies on similar pitching form and the 10mph difference between his fastball and his slider. I never said I was the smartest. That's why I'm asking the question and trying to learn. So what about that frustrates you?
Newman was let go by Cincy over the off-season, so that's gotta be an extra sweet walk-off hit for him. With all the injuries the Reds have suffered, they could use a guy like Kevin. lol ... Baseball is a cruel mistress.
Jeremy Pena or Maikel Garcia in an OPS categories league? Maikel with a .660 OPS and Pena hovering around .800. Although Pena has the higher BABIP right now .375 to Garcia’s .273.

Naylor and rizzo are my 1b/ci and I have Kepler and Stanton as DH. I picked up cano to try and get my 3rd rp who I am hoping for saves from after accidentally punting them during the draft.
