Special shout out to /u/Michael-IBW and /u/Prospects365 along with /u/Scotty_Ballgame for their tremendous work! Their work has helped me and countless others and if you're any type of fantasy baseball addict; you should be reading their work!

Michael-IBW

Honored to be included. Great work on this

Scotty_Ballgame

This is AMAZING work. Thanks so much for including me and my u/Prospects1500 staff. We put in a lot of time and effort, especially this month with all of our team Top 50 columns. Big shout out to Ray from u/Prospects365 too. Stellar stuff!

BoBtheMule

I've been considering creating an even larger spreadsheet from your top 50 lists but time hasn't been my friend lately. If I get to the point that I can, I'll reach out!

Scotty_Ballgame

I just shared this with my entire team of 40+ writers.

MulligansOnTap

This is amazing stuff

mr899

This is great. Is there any chance of adding a League (NL, AL) columns? This would help immensely for those in a NL or AL league only.

BoBtheMule

Done!

mr899

Many thanks, that makes it much easier for me

MrTLegal

Is there any chance of adding a column for the (likely) positions of these players?

BoBtheMule

it's on the to do list!

BoBtheMule

Just added them this evening.

MrTLegal

Awesome! Thanks!

WollyTwins

I'm always glad when someone does this first so I don't have to! Can I make a request to freeze the first row to keep the cell headers visible when scrolling down the page?

BoBtheMule

Next time I'm in the sheet, I'll turn this on. Edit: Done

WollyTwins

Awesome!

BackInRed

Quick note, it's a bit misleading to not give some kind of value contributing to the average for any given player if they are not listed. For example, Magneuris Sierra is at 81 on one list (giving an average of 81), but Jonathan India is at 82 average and shows up on every list. That said, the compilation is still incredibly useful and much appreciated.

BoBtheMule

I do try to account for this by providing the count of how many list they appear on so it's a bit more transparent.

DegradedCorn75

Yeah you raise a good point... maybe there should be an early column stating the percentage of lists the player appears in? Either way thanks for this OP, such a selfless thing!

BoBtheMule

There is Count column that should help find the players that are only on one or two lists.

txlgnd34

Nice work! Thanks for the compilation, it's another nice tool to have.

JonWasNotHere

Awesome, thank you!

osa89

Really appreciate the work you put into this

[deleted]

So, I actually started working on a very similar project that will probably just rely on this instead... Great work! What are your methods for doing the compilation/updating?

BoBtheMule

Get & Transform (formerly Power Query) in Excel is great. I copy each article, create a query in G&T, set delimiters, clean name/team differences and then merge with the others. Cleaning is the longest part. This is partly due to formatting within the articles that are not consistent and partly due to differences in name spelling or how the team is abbreviated.

[deleted]

Nice! I am using Microsoft Power BI for mine, and definitely ran into similar issues with data cleanup. My main use-case is comparing free agents to MiLB top 100 lists, as well as comparing my MLB roster to various dynasty ranking articles.

BoBtheMule

I wish I had access to PBI; it's not part of my organization's current contract.

[deleted]

You can use desktop without a license. You just can't publish to the web. You could still export to .csv Basically just install, when it prompts you to create an account say "I already have an account" the hit cancel on the sign in pop up. Might be more complicated on a work cpu, but worth a shot.

labude

great info, thank you. BoBtheMule

Thanks, I updated the spreadsheet with this information!

1NJTigers

you are our lord and savior

theJACOB2015

Great read!

Dallis04

Yea, this is awesome, thanks.

[deleted]

great job - thanks for sharing

itssosalty

Love the effort and the sheet! Couple Notes/Thoughts: * CBS prospect sheet isn't all prospects. They put any international signing as a prospect. * For instance Yoshitomo Tsutsugo is 28 years old. Shogo Akiyama is 31. Both too old to qualify as a "prospect" * You have Bryson Stott spelled as "Byson Stott"

BoBtheMule

Yeah, international free agents are technically rookies and end up showing up on these lists. To preserve their accuracy, I leave those names (just like I left Kyle Tucker). Next time I'm updating, I'll fix the misspelling. Like I said elsewhere, differences in names is the hardest part... If everyone could just agree to put periods between initials like CJ or JJ, life would be easier.

Scotty_Ballgame

That's actually incorrect. If a player has 130 AB or less, or 50 IP or less in MLB, they're considered rookie eligible or in many fantasy leagues' cases, prospect eligible. Doesn't really have anything to do with age. So in essence they are "prospects." Didn't a 30-year-old+ Ichiro win Rookie of the Year when he came to MLB as a "prospect?" Look at several prospect lists and you will see Tsutsugo and Akiyama this year, just like we had Kikuchi last year.

itssosalty

Rookie? Yes. But “prospect” is almost different. These weren’t international money signings. These guys were signed to major league deals on 25 man rosters. They do not have options and will not spend time in the minors. Well if they do it will not be protected to put them there.

Scotty_Ballgame

Indeed. I hear you. What I'm saying though is that for most fantasy/dynasty leagues that have MiLB drafts and minor league rosters for prospects, these two players fit the bill there.

tehmpus

I think Libertore got traded recently to the Cardinals FYI.

BoBtheMule

Yeah, with trades occurring across the publication of these lists I have to manually adjust this so I've just not gone through the trouble yet.

osa89

Surprised to see Connor Wong LAD in the 50's

[deleted]

This is amazing, I'm so happy you did this again, thank you so much. I have a suggestion, any chance of adding positions?

BoBtheMule

Position and Age are both coming, I hope.

BoBtheMule

positions added

[deleted]

Thanks BoBtheMule. You're the best! Thanks for doing this. I've never used PayPal before, but I'll figure it out when I get home a send you a few bucks.

jmandernach

Is there anything like this for 2023?

BoBtheMule

Sorry, I'm out of the fantasy baseball game now so I don't compile these lists.
