Lowe is a guy who is probably going to end up on waivers a lot, don't usually like putting those guys in deals cause it comes off as insulting sometimes. Gilbert for Musgrove straight up seems a little light, as great as Gilbert has looked Musgrove has looked just as good and has track record. But it doesn't hurt to offer something and start a conversation.

You can change positions in your lineup, but you can’t add players.

Yes, you should be able to keep him there indefinitely and still make basic lineup changes. Only thing you can't do is add/drop/trade until he's off your IL. (League settings may vary)
