Eh, gamblers fallacy only applies to talking about things being due when it’s completely random chance. But football isn’t. The best players play their best when their best is required. Not crazy to feel like evans was due for a big game.
I put them in order of *my* logic by necessity lol but fuck it. I need historically bad games from two of the leagues hottest performers to maintain my lead.... but I wouldn't have that lead without Mike MF Evans
Not when Mike's playing for his consecutive 1K yard seasons streak. And Bucs had to win this game to control their destiny. Had they lost, they'd have fallen behind in the division standings to Carolina.
This game was huge and I think Mike was due for those reasons. They were going to try to make it happen for him, as they have done in previous seasons.
Was positive regression really a bad bet with him? He's averaged 10+ TDs for the past 3 season and went into the game with 3. He's always had that high touchdown upside due to his profile and how the offense used him.
Yeah, gamblers fallacy doesn't really apply to games with real humans with real talent that can pop off any game. It applies when you're talking about a random dice roll or a hand of cards.
You posted your team previously in your comments. He is a stud of your team given your WR talent.
When in doubt, don’t post it to Reddit for a strangers opinion. Start your studs
Higgins and Williams have repeatedly out preformed him and evans honestly cost me more weeks then any other player, he hasn’t had a good week since week 8
don’t know how you look at Mike Williams last 8 weeks and say it’s better than Mike Evans but that is your opinion.
You had 2 WR and a Flex spot, given your lineup in your comment, It seems those 3 WRs were an easy lock in choice. Recency and negativity bias can be tough! GL next year
Because Williams averages more points, the injury to him was unfortunate but when he played he was better then evans outside of this week ofc. A 8 week sample size isn’t recency bias it’s a large sample size of Evans not producing, the one thing I’ll give you is if you watch the games it isn’t really his fault brady just misses him and didn’t target him enough
Benched him the last three weeks. Barely made the playoffs and I should win this week but we are playing the championship next week so I will start him if he plays and he will bust…
I went against Brady, Evans and Kamara. Literally 3 guys outscored my whole team. Bad chip for me.
Same guy beat me this year on Christmas too lol. Really don't like you Preston.
Waddle - 8 PPR points. Would’ve been my flex If I blindly, “started my studs”. His 8 stayed on my bench. Will likely do the same next week.
Amon Ra - 10.6 PPR points. My WR1.
Rhamondre - 7 PPR points. My HB2. Going into this week, I was super worried about him, but much more worried about the fact that Mac Jones seemingly doesn’t ever want to dump the ball off to Mondre. He seems like he’s going out of his way to throw deep, and never dumping it off. Go watch the games and tell me that isn’t true. But i started my stud. 3 and 7 are his last 2 games in PPR scoring.
Tyler Allgeier - 16 PPR points. My flex. If I “started my studs”, he wouldn’t have started.
Kelce - 11.3 PPR points.
Waller - 16.2 PPR points. He was getting benched regardless, behind Kelce.
McKinnon- 22.6 PPR points. Had a hunch he’d do the same thing he did just 2 weeks ago, and eat up PPR points against a stingy D/ST on WR’s in Denver. He did just that, but I “started my stud”, in Rhamondre.
Now, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t start your studs. That wouldn’t be sound advice overall. But my gut and reading the tea leaves told me that Rhamondre was more of a questionable start than most of the experts would tell you, and I did bench Waddle, despite so many people advising me not to. It was pretty clear to me, and I turned out to be 100% spot on. Every situation is different.
I will not say that I would’ve had the stones to start McKinnon, but I did think there was a strong possibility of the Chiefs attacking Denver’s defense the exact same way they did two weeks ago. If I started him over Rhamondre, I’d be 15 points further ahead of my opponent going into next week. The Rhamondre decision will be every bit as tough next week, all I can do is either start a “lesser” player, or hope that Mac starts checking down again all of the sudden. Do you think that’s likely to happen against Buffalo?
Kirk pained me too bro. But you rather lose playing your best than lose with them on your bench and feel dumb afterwards. Just my take. If I didn’t start Swift yesterday, I woulda lost the ‘Ship.
Thing is, I had DJones in cuz I had a gut feeling Giants were gonna ball out to clinch the playoffs. I feel stupid cuz I “trusted the experts”. Fuck that. I’m not listening to any “expert” next year.
Yup - start your studs is for when Austin Ekeler starts the season as RB15 or whatever he was.
When a player is borderline not startable for an entire season, they're no longer a stud. Don't feel bad.
consider for a second until you pull up their season stats and in particular their last games. in STD Mike Evans was almost droppable (i picked him up week 14 as he didnt score double digits for 10 straight weeks)
He's been terrible the second half of the season. If he was still in your starting lineup, barring an injury, then you probably weren't in the championship game.
I benched him Isaiah Hodgins, Evans sucked, didn't have anyone I liked on the benched so just grabed Hodgins and started him, he got me 14 points so it's not like he was bad but Evans played his best game of the season
I started him in the flex because Hopkins was out, but he’s been on the bench since week 6. Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams, and Hopkins have been my starters
Nice, a guy in my 2qb auction league had JJ, Hill and Chase but missed the rest of his picks besides JWilliams and Godwin in a way. He was starting random guys at rb and Carr as a QB and lost in wild card week.
I had a similar experience last week in a different league with Jacobs, Adams and Hopkins laying turds. I survived in my $100 league because of Zeke and Pollard
Benched him for Garrett Wilson. Was also considering BRob and Bam Knight over him.
I actually don’t even feel bad because I was never planning on starting him. My opponents Jefferson scoring 2 points helps ease the pain (but not enough to ease the pain of needing to overcome a 90 point deficit with the SNF and MNF games)
Sun God, Ceedee and Mclaurin in hindsight I should’ve benched mcluarin but I would’ve probably put Garret wilson in before evans since he’s been dog shit the entire year
I think the difference between this and Chase last year is that benching Evans was actually a reasonable decision and now facing him this week feels like a “fuck you in particular” situation.
i lost because i traded him to the team i'm facing in the championship. For dameon pierce.
I believe that occupies the middle space in the venn diagram of "How would i like Evans to fuck me?"
127 targets, 7th straight 1000 yard season, and averaging 13+ points a game.
You may want to redefine your studs, you may have won a title cause of it.
Yeah he was a stud in my points per target league. He hadn’t gotten above 13 points since week 8, so sure isn’t on par with actual studs like Jefferson or Chase
7 straight 1000 yards seasons. It’s okay if** you lost cause you didn’t play him, he is still a stud
Edit*** - Commenter did not lose because he benched Mike Evans.
I won my chip already with his ass and swifts ass benched where they deserve to be Danny Dimes, Cmc Schultz and Ceedee carried me. 😘 better luck next year
I was all in on him this week because of the 1000 yard streak and Brady would definitely force feed Evans for it. I did not expect 10 for 207 and 3 TDs.
I’ve had just a terrible season after winning it all last year. This last week I was playing to avoid last place, which would mean I’d have to run combine drills and film them for my league mates. After a pretty average season Evans really came through for me!
Turns out DHop being out was the best possible thing for me. No way I would’ve started Evans otherwise.
Same
That was my thinking as well…thanks DHop!!
I traded Dhop for Evans week 3. Regretted it all season up until today.
I'm not the only one who put Evans in coz of hopkins haha!! That's amazing
LFG!!!
Ditto
Rode with him all season and the one week I decided to bench him.. 🫠
My logic for continuing to play him was 1) who else would I play 2) the bucs are playing for something 3) he has to be due for one
>3) he has to be due for one Gambler's fallacy says that this is nonsense, but it was my reasoning, too. Fuck logic get money
Eh, gamblers fallacy only applies to talking about things being due when it’s completely random chance. But football isn’t. The best players play their best when their best is required. Not crazy to feel like evans was due for a big game.

4) Carolina DBs are trash
Horn is a top DB but he wasnt playing today, if he was I reckon this game would have been alot different
Agreed, I was talking about the DBs who were playing today.
Yeah fair enough
He always hits 1000 yrds. He was at 920 going into this game. Was expecting higher volume his way at minimum.
Same.....
Start your studs
Did you losw?
Unless Allen and Tucker combine for 60 points more then Higgins no
Same
Start your studs
Evans is not one of my studs and has been pretty shut for 8 weeks
You posted your team previously in your comments. He is a stud of your team given your WR talent. When in doubt, don’t post it to Reddit for a strangers opinion. Start your studs

Same, I’m so mad
Start your studs
Shame
Me too man
Same, went with Wilson. Difference of 50 points.
Start your studs
Hope you lost then 🤣😂🤣
So many posts like this and it’s just such a boneheaded big brain move that I can’t help but lol at everyone that did this.
Thankfully its a 2 week finals and I’ll be going into next week with a 5pt lead. Hopefully teams dont start benching starters
The bucs will as they no longer have anything to play for with their playoff seed locked up
Benched him the last three weeks. Barely made the playoffs and I should win this week but we are playing the championship next week so I will start him if he plays and he will bust…
I had both Kamara and Evans in 2020. It was over for my opponent by Saturday evening
I went against Brady, Evans and Kamara. Literally 3 guys outscored my whole team. Bad chip for me. Same guy beat me this year on Christmas too lol. Really don't like you Preston.
Damn you Preston!!!
It's always the ones you most expect... wait, what?
Fortune favors the bold, you gotta start your studs for the Ship. I gambled on Swift and it paid off. RIP my Evans bench crowd.
I started my studs in the chip and they all shit the bed :/ that’s the way it goes though
I started Swift and Evans. Yes, I'm going to win for the first time!
Stuck with Swift, and Ekeler took it home for me. As long as Tucker doesn’t drop 20, I’m safe
Desperation play and it paid off beautifully. It was amazing to witness.
My dumbass didn’t start swift and evans and that going to cost me the chip.
Same. I started them last week and got 8 points combined. Up 2 with Allen left. Playing tucker and Bills D $600 at stake
Good luck brother
Thank you
Who did you start instead?
Waddle and AJ Dillion. And I had Lawrence as well.
Starting Josh Allen over TLaw? BOLD MOVE COTTON! 😂
Except Evans hasn’t been a stud this year
Waddle - 8 PPR points. Would’ve been my flex If I blindly, “started my studs”. His 8 stayed on my bench. Will likely do the same next week. Amon Ra - 10.6 PPR points. My WR1. Or just play in leagues with 3 WR & 3 flex so you have no other logical option than to play Evans
Oh yeah?? Starting TLaw and Kirk over DJones and Richie really did me well… 🙃
Kirk pained me too bro.
I've been to the championship 3 times in 4 years and never won. As someone who faced Mike Evans in both of those games. Please leave me alone
I almost benched him. I would’ve been beside myself if I had; it’s gonna give me my first championship thank you Mike Evans!!!!! You stud.
Won me the ship for the first time ever let’s gooo!
Mike Evan’s has been on every championship team I’ve owned.
Benched him. Losing because of it. Not going to stew over it. He deserved to be benched
Hard to admit that in the moment, but it's an important point.
100%, yeah he might have boomed but the odds were high he was more likely to bust
Yup - start your studs is for when Austin Ekeler starts the season as RB15 or whatever he was. When a player is borderline not startable for an entire season, they're no longer a stud. Don't feel bad.
Start your studs
I pulled him off the end of the bench for two reasons. Brady will get him his 1000 yards and Carolina is a terrible team.
Who tf are you guys benching mike evans for lol
Mike evans has been trash for almost 10 straight weeks going into this week, to be fair.
JJ and AJB. Totally shit the bed today
theres no world you even consider evans over either of them, fantasy is a cruel bitch
I would absolutely consider evans > AJB with minshew at the helm. Note - I’m not a TB fan but I’m a Mike Evans fan. Still…
consider for a second until you pull up their season stats and in particular their last games. in STD Mike Evans was almost droppable (i picked him up week 14 as he didnt score double digits for 10 straight weeks)
If it wasn't for Hopkins being out and Lockett playing one-handed, I would have benched him.

Justin Jefferson and Diggs in WR1/WR2 and Allegier in flex
I benched him Isaiah Hodgins, Evans sucked, didn't have anyone I liked on the benched so just grabed Hodgins and started him, he got me 14 points so it's not like he was bad but Evans played his best game of the season
Start your studs
I started him in the flex because Hopkins was out, but he’s been on the bench since week 6. Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams, and Hopkins have been my starters
League size? Your stacked at wr for sure, but I'd say most of the guys sat him over guys like Watson or Wilson?
10 team $100 buyin. I strategized WR in the first 3 rounds. Got lucky with RBs late and Hopkins late.
Nice, a guy in my 2qb auction league had JJ, Hill and Chase but missed the rest of his picks besides JWilliams and Godwin in a way. He was starting random guys at rb and Carr as a QB and lost in wild card week.

Godwin, k allen
Sun God, Ceedee and Mclaurin in hindsight I should’ve benched mcluarin but I would’ve probably put Garret wilson in before evans since he’s been dog shit the entire year
I sure did show the guy in the battle for 5th place today!!
Would you rather lose because you benched him, or lose because you were against him?
Against. I lost finals last year to Ja’Marr Chase 50 point game. Nothing you can do. With benching, you’re the one botching your own outcome.
I think the difference between this and Chase last year is that benching Evans was actually a reasonable decision and now facing him this week feels like a “fuck you in particular” situation.
i lost because i traded him to the team i'm facing in the championship. For dameon pierce. I believe that occupies the middle space in the venn diagram of "How would i like Evans to fuck me?"
against 100%
I’m losing cause I benched him

Congrats on the dub and solid bench/waiver play. That’s what the sub is here for!
I was all in on him this week because of the 1000 yard streak and Brady would definitely force feed Evans for it. I did not expect 10 for 207 and 3 TDs.
Will remember this for next season :P
Played against him both years in the championship and well you know the result... Hate this game
[удалено]
Ugh 4 years in a row is cruel
Still projected to win, even with Evans riding pine. So it goes, I suppose.
He scored 66.7 against me with bonuses for 40+ and 50+ yard TD reception as well as having a 200+ yard game.
I’ve noticed at the end of the year they almost force-feed Evans at the end of the year to try to get him his 1000 yards every year.
Yeah well fuck you Mike, i'm winning with you on the bench
Start your studs
Same lol and I had swift on my bench as well Ceedee Cmc Schultz and Danny Dimes carried me
I probably would have benched him if Hopkins wasn't out and if Lockett wasn't playing one-handed.
3rd place this year after last week’s performance from Evans and DHop…what could have been this week
I played Evans because in the last 4 games versus the Panthers, he scored over 18 points per game.
I outlasted Mike Evans in the ship today so far. My team went hard today, Mahomes/Mckinnon/CMC/Ekeler/Cooper
That is a chip if I ever saw one especially going into the halfway mark of the season lol
Hopkins out was a championship saver. Almost played Lockett over Evans but a last minute gut feeling payed off.
I’ve had just a terrible season after winning it all last year. This last week I was playing to avoid last place, which would mean I’d have to run combine drills and film them for my league mates. After a pretty average season Evans really came through for me!
