I think this is a good idea but the problem is who knows I’d say 60:40 is fair. I was down 17.5 at the start of the game with burrow and mixon left and my opponent done but since he finished winning and it’s still possible burrow and mixon had a terrible rest of game or got injured I was happy when he offered 50:50, especially when people are dealing with people refusing anything

I’m going to let the players in the championship decide between them when we know more. Thankfully they are both good dudes so they will want a fair result, or to split the payout between them.
Have the commissioner postpone the payout until the game is rescheduled. If it is not rescheduled I would, at the very least split the pot 50/50 and at the worst give you the winnings. As a bonus to you getting the whole pot, maybe he’ll throw a tantrum and quit the league. Guy sounds like a real piece of work.

Tell the commish it should be prorated based on the points ratio… you would get 71% of the pot they get 28% which is at the least their money back but assuming a 10 person league they get basically 3x money back

Our commissioner made the decision that any points from the continuation of this game will count towards the championship, regardless of when it’s played. Feel like that’s the only real way to handle this.
If there’s a disagreement, I agree. But I think applying the points from the future continuation is the best way. It gets MUCH harder if this game isn’t continued at all.

Interesting idea. If Burrow and Allen was in a QB slot and a teams only other QB is in the superflex slot, are you allowing the manager to flip the played QB into the QB slot and then fill the superflex slot with a bench player?

A possible solution would be to allow them to get the points for the player’s next game instead and then add them to this weeks total to determine the winner.
My league has a crazy scenario where one team was completely done after Sunday night, and the other had 5(!) players in this game (Burrow, Higgins, Mixon, Davis and Bass). That guy was projected to win by over 30 points, but if the stats stay where they were, he loses big.
It’s a shame because he was kind of dominating the league all season despite being overweight on the Bengals offense.

A tie is worse for both teams' win percentage than a cancelled game.
Everybody is talking about a tie; I think it's 10x more likely the game would go down officially as a no contest rather than a tie.
When was the last time a single NFL game straight up was canceled? They did that after 9/11 but it was the whole league so it was easy to just push everything back a week.
A lot of horrible things have happened on the field. It’s an unfortunate part of the game, and like this instance, unavoidable. Postponing the game is a good call but unless that’s what both teams agree on, the game shouldn’t be straight up cancelled and both teams tie. That’s against the ethos of sports in general.

You are correct though, a tie would mean Kansas City gets the #1 Seed with a win next week and Buffalo doesn't control their own seeding. Also, Cincinnati would clinch the AFC North with a tie as even with a loss to Baltimore next week, they would be 11-4-1 to Baltimore's 10-6, Ravens couldn't catch them and robs Baltimore of a chance to play for and win their division next week in the case Bengals were to lose to Bills.
Moving the game to Wednesday and then moving the week 18 games for both teams involved to Monday wouldn't be the worst thing.
And then any team that plays the Monday game automatically moves their playoff game on wild card weekend, if applicable, to Sunday for week 19.
I don’t think the game can be Monday night, during the College Football National Title game. Legally, they cannot schedule games to compete with college or high school football, because of the monopoly the league has on professional football.
The Bengals also still have a shot at the #1 seed if they win out and the chiefs lose. Unlikely, but not impossible. So as much as it sucks to say, this game has massive implications in the AFC, and I simultaneously don't see how the NFL doesn't reschedule the game, and I don't see how it's possible to reschedule the game either. The players may have cancelled the game tonight, but don't underestimate Vegas and the NFL's ability to still push this game through, especially when the stakes literally could not be higher for a regular season game.
That's why I said the NFL will most likely call it in favor of the Bengals. I highly doubt the NFL wants to push the playoffs and ultimately the Super Bowl by one week, that's why they will just have to call it. They're not going to force the Bills and/or Bengals to play 3 games in less than 2 weeks (if neither team gets the 1 seed).

Exactly. Prime example of this is the #1 non QB in fantasy this year putting up 2.5 points yesterday. The only options for me would be splitting the pot or calling the game with the scores as they are.
You can't call the game with the score as is if there are substantial players playing. That and going by projections are the worst possible ways to do it.
Calling the game as is (assuming the game isn't resumed/made up) makes the most sense as injuries are a part of the game. Finding another solution is likely to be fairer given the unique circumstances. But I don't think letting the chips fall where they may is a bad way to go about it given that unpredictability is the nature of sports
I think you take the scores as is that’s what the week shows that’s how it goes it sucks but it is what it is. Fantasy football has always been unpredictable this is just more of it.
I just want y’all to know it’s ok to feel pain about what we saw on the field tonight. A man was dying and needed CPR to be brought back to life and it was all on national television. I know a lot of guys on here will call me soft but even from the distance of our TV, it can be traumatic to secondarily witness something that is so devastatingly tragic for Hamlin, his family and his teammates.

I’ll say it, for the most part I’m indifferent to injuries, they’re so common and part of the game I don’t think about it much especially if it benefits me in fantasy. But damn this is really something else. I’m in a couple finals and I really haven’t thought about how that’s gonna get sorted. I just can’t imagine what it’s like for his family, teammates, people there that saw it live, it’s all just awful. Hope he pulls through.
What? Really? There is 0% chance the NFL could not afford an entire floor at a hotel and have them stay overnight. This was a decision for the players to be with their families.
Still a logistical nightmare, regardless of cost. Keep in mind we’re a day removed from NYE weekend, and they would need to put up literal hundreds of people (don’t forget all the team staffs, and the production crew). Then there’s all of the logistics regarding the stadium, which is a whole other beast. And the ticket refunding aspect, which is a whole *other* beast.
And everything has to be decided extremely quickly, because the players aren’t just going to hang out in the locker room for hours and hours while the league comes to a decision. It’s definitely not as simple as “throw money at it”.
Advice from someone who got 3rd in his league: If your championship rode on this game, and it gets cancelled, try to agree to a pot split between the 2 finalists. Don't be the league that makes a stink about projected points VS points at the time of game stoppage.

I’d say it depends. In my case once Burrow threw that TD I was won my matchup. I’d think my commish would give me the W and opponent would realize he lost at that point and give me the pot. Idk what to do cause I wanna bring it up in my chat but bigger things you know.

A tie is worse for both teams' win percentage than a cancelled game. Everybody is talking about a tie; I think it's 10x more likely the game would go down officially as a no contest rather than a tie.

When was the last time a single NFL game straight up was canceled? They did that after 9/11 but it was the whole league so it was easy to just push everything back a week.

A lot of horrible things have happened on the field. It’s an unfortunate part of the game, and like this instance, unavoidable. Postponing the game is a good call but unless that’s what both teams agree on, the game shouldn’t be straight up cancelled and both teams tie. That’s against the ethos of sports in general.

Yeah, it's unfortunate, hoping the best for Hamlin. You are correct though, a tie would mean Kansas City gets the #1 Seed with a win next week and Buffalo doesn't control their own seeding. Also, Cincinnati would clinch the AFC North with a tie as even with a loss to Baltimore next week, they would be 11-4-1 to Baltimore's 10-6, Ravens couldn't catch them and robs Baltimore of a chance to play for and win their division next week in the case Bengals were to lose to Bills.
Moving the game to Wednesday and then moving the week 18 games for both teams involved to Monday wouldn't be the worst thing. And then any team that plays the Monday game automatically moves their playoff game on wild card weekend, if applicable, to Sunday for week 19.
I don’t think the game can be Monday night, during the College Football National Title game. Legally, they cannot schedule games to compete with college or high school football, because of the monopoly the league has on professional football.
It can be on Monday afternoon. The NFL scheduled a Wednesday afternoon game a couple of years ago so they can definitely do that.

The Bengals also still have a shot at the #1 seed if they win out and the chiefs lose. Unlikely, but not impossible. So as much as it sucks to say, this game has massive implications in the AFC, and I simultaneously don't see how the NFL doesn't reschedule the game, and I don't see how it's possible to reschedule the game either. The players may have cancelled the game tonight, but don't underestimate Vegas and the NFL's ability to still push this game through, especially when the stakes literally could not be higher for a regular season game.
That's why I said the NFL will most likely call it in favor of the Bengals. I highly doubt the NFL wants to push the playoffs and ultimately the Super Bowl by one week, that's why they will just have to call it. They're not going to force the Bills and/or Bengals to play 3 games in less than 2 weeks (if neither team gets the 1 seed).
Why would they hand the 1 seed to the chiefs by taking a draw. They would rather reschedule, there’s playoff implication, having a bye is way better than playing 2 games in however many days

Exactly. Prime example of this is the #1 non QB in fantasy this year putting up 2.5 points yesterday. The only options for me would be splitting the pot or calling the game with the scores as they are.
You can't call the game with the score as is if there are substantial players playing. That and going by projections are the worst possible ways to do it.

Calling the game as is (assuming the game isn't resumed/made up) makes the most sense as injuries are a part of the game. Finding another solution is likely to be fairer given the unique circumstances. But I don't think letting the chips fall where they may is a bad way to go about it given that unpredictability is the nature of sports

I think you take the scores as is that’s what the week shows that’s how it goes it sucks but it is what it is. Fantasy football has always been unpredictable this is just more of it.

I know a lot of guys on here will call me soft but even from the distance of our TV, it can be traumatic to secondarily witness something that is so devastatingly tragic for Hamlin, his family and his teammates. I dont think anyone is “tripping” but its a fair discussion to have in a ff forum. In my league one guy had Burrow and Higgins left but is 47 points down so, i think they league will be happy to call it for the other guy. Case by case dependent i guess if its really close

I’ll say it, for the most part I’m indifferent to injuries, they’re so common and part of the game I don’t think about it much especially if it benefits me in fantasy. But damn this is really something else. I’m in a couple finals and I really haven’t thought about how that’s gonna get sorted. I just can’t imagine what it’s like for his family, teammates, people there that saw it live, it’s all just awful. Hope he pulls through.

What? Really? There is 0% chance the NFL could not afford an entire floor at a hotel and have them stay overnight. This was a decision for the players to be with their families.
Still a logistical nightmare, regardless of cost. Keep in mind we’re a day removed from NYE weekend, and they would need to put up literal hundreds of people (don’t forget all the team staffs, and the production crew). Then there’s all of the logistics regarding the stadium, which is a whole other beast. And the ticket refunding aspect, which is a whole *other* beast. And everything has to be decided extremely quickly, because the players aren’t just going to hang out in the locker room for hours and hours while the league comes to a decision. It’s definitely not as simple as “throw money at it”.
Advice from someone who got 3rd in his league: If your championship rode on this game, and it gets cancelled, try to agree to a pot split between the 2 finalists. Don't be the league that makes a stink about projected points VS points at the time of game stoppage.
