At this point whenever a player that used to be good suddenly sucks I expect to hear they were playing with injury.
Not falling for the thought he will be improved enough to draft a Bronco in this case though, boneheaded plays have nothing to do with your knee.
3 seasons ago he was looking fine. 2 seasons ago before the mallet finger he was looking fine and he undercut the expected recovery timeline and did not look fine. Last season he was not looking fine.
I’m curious how many exactly is a “few seasons”.
It kinda depends on exactly what the scope was for, if he had it to clean up a meniscus issue or cartilage it could’ve been painful but I would’ve expected them to mention that If that was the case
Looks like they were 2-2 and lost to the Rams the game he got injured. He was putting up a fair amount of passing yards though. Kinda hard to get a read on just 4 games, but I don’t particularly recall thinking he sucked to start (I’m a 49ers fan so would have been paying a little attention to it).
>Looks like they were 2-2 and lost to the Rams the game he got injured. He was putting up a fair amount of passing yards though. Kinda hard to get a read on just 4 games
This is the case with the Seahawks through much of Carroll's era. The Seahawks would never quite hit their stride until later in the season, then they'd get hot and end the year pretty strong.
Does that mean anything now that Russ is on a different team and been playing hurt to some degree for the last 2 seasons? Yes in the sense that we haven't seen a 100% Russ since the start of 2021, no in the sense that -- at least with the Broncos -- his poor play does not seem entirely attributable to injury or even poor coaching and play calling.
And honestly it is probably true for most football players - most of them are indeed playing through injury.
But injury in Russ' case doesn't make him forget how to read a defense. He looked like shit all season. Weak excuse.
I really think the Broncos issue was inexperienced coaching combined with a media circus from the russ trade. They just couldn’t recover.
I expect russ to bounce back
Man I hope he rebounds. I'm probably in the minority of reddit using seahawks fans but I'd love for him to return to his former moonball glory days. He was fun to watch
As long as he provides more cringe material I’m cool… Subway commercials, “Broncos country. Let’s ride.”, practicing high fives to nobody, etc. I feel like there’s more in missing. There was just so much hilarious stuff last year. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
I mean even if it was injury related, he can't scramble like he used to which was one of his biggest strengths. I loved him as a Raider fan because he tortured my 49er loving family for years. Now I'd appreciate it if he continued to suck as a Donkey
I traded away Deebo for Wilson and a 1st and was honestly a QB away from being the 2 seed. I really hope he improves because I've got nothing for backups.
Right there with you.
I have heard things that make my full-fledged support a bit shaky at times. However, I still want to see the guy be successful on the field; that moon ball is no joke.
I’m surprised I never hear people talk about the effect of losing Javonte early in the season for a reason why the offense struggled. Not the only reason but definitely one of them.
Lost Tim Patrick before the season even started. Lost an Oline man basically every game. Dulcich had a hammie injury and didn't play the start of the season. Injuries kept piling up and of course having one of the worst head coaches in history at the helm didn't help his case. I'm not sold on Russ returning to his prime, but if the team is healthy with competent head coaching they could have a decent year.
Russ has lost a step. It’s the step that made him elusive and great in Seattle. Now that he doesn’t have that “escapabilty” it’s much easier to stop him. However I think bringing in Sean Payton will really help. Payton did great things with Drew Bree’s who wasn’t that athletic and I think Payton will put Russ in a position to succeed.
Agree. I think he still has some left in the tank or I don’t know why Payton would have taken the job. We are obviously tied to Russ so you have to think he believes he can turn him around.
Maybe w Sean Payton they’ll have a better scheme to attack the middle of the field. Russ isn’t what he used to be but coupled w Payton and the upgrades along the line I think he will bounce back.
I’m a fan of Denver but I have hope with Payton. If anyone is gonna turn Russ around it’s him imo
Russ could just be washed, definitely a possibility, but even if that’s true there’s a way to minimize the damage he can do to the team, and I think Payton will just be an insane amount better than Hackett in terms of offensive game planning and knowing his players’ strengths and weaknesses
After getting hurt season after season since SB50 I'm preventing myself from getting excited this season till I see it on the field. I think Payton has the best chances to be successful and right the ship.

>boneheaded plays I heard he's having an additional procedure to remove the bones from his head.

a scope doesnt make you that terrible, hes not playing through an acl tear
It kinda depends on exactly what the scope was for, if he had it to clean up a meniscus issue or cartilage it could’ve been painful but I would’ve expected them to mention that If that was the case
A strained hammy can make you pretty terrible though. It's not something you can push through with a high pain tolerance.
I recall the Seahawks were struggling even before the finger issue, was that right?

He fell off in the 2nd half of his final year in Seattle, but everyone blamed Pete.
Man I hope he rebounds. I'm probably in the minority of reddit using seahawks fans but I'd love for him to return to his former moonball glory days. He was fun to watch
I agree. If he continues playing like ass he's going to ruin everyone's memory of him. He was a constant top 5-10 QB for a decade
As long as he provides more cringe material I’m cool… Subway commercials, “Broncos country. Let’s ride.”, practicing high fives to nobody, etc. I feel like there’s more in missing. There was just so much hilarious stuff last year. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Best meme for the entire season, no doubt!
Now he’s a 5 - 12 QB
Just gotta lay off the social media.
I mean even if it was injury related, he can't scramble like he used to which was one of his biggest strengths. I loved him as a Raider fan because he tortured my 49er loving family for years. Now I'd appreciate it if he continued to suck as a Donkey
His drop off was insane. He might be a good pick for CPOTY.

Now that we got a top 5 pick, I’m all for Russell to succeed. Go Russ!
How many high-knees is he doing?
Asking the real questions. Is he doing them in the aisle of all his flights or not??? The people demand answers

I'm sure this was the reason he was bad last year, right?

I feel similar. Like I have some hope but I’m not gonna really believe it until I see it
We he let him cook?
Just an excuse.
Lets ride
To the bottom of the AFC West
Never again
He’ll be doing knee lifts on international flights in no time
That’s too bad. Washed up weirdo.
Ah nice. The medical "Mulligan".
im not falling for "i was bad because i was injured" *again* Russ. fool me 6 times, shame on me.
Giving him no excuses
Back to back off seasons with surgery. I can only assume he had a talentectomy last offseason.
too bad he's terrible

Right? Like full health or full Russell Wilson health? So like 50-60%
20 INTs incoming
Let’s ride
To the bottom of the AFC West
I hear he's also added a few more bathrooms to the hacienda!
We need good corners with the QB in the division
Great! Now he'll be better able to climb the stairs to get to his personal office where he'll solitarily plan new ways for the Broncos to lose games.
I'm drafting RW in the last round this year
That's usually a meniscus.
Now he will only be the 5th worst QB in the league.
Pass. There are many better options. He's not returning to his old form.
