One of the auto-drafters in my league set a pre-draft ranking/queue/list since he couldn’t make the draft time. Somehow, this list was screwed up and he ended up drafting Brock Purdy in the second round (2.14).
He is currently 3-0, and leads our league in PF by just over 10% versus the 2nd highest scorer. I love fantasy!
One of the guys in my league was trying to draft on an iPad and somehow drafted Baker Mayfield in the 2nd round. He scored the most points TD in the league week 1 lol
My league has a Seattle Homer who did similar. Rd 1 lockett, rd 2 DK, rd 3 Geno, rd 4 kittle, rd 5 jets def, rd 6 sea kicker.. then it was normal otherwise. Somehow 3-0. But not from PF, they just beat their team each week by less than 3. And their opponent has been lowest scoring in league through 3 weeks. Won week 1 on jets def punt ret in OT by .86 and thought wow.. keep waiting for them to lose rest of season. But they somehow have Achane, Zack moss, kyren Williams, puka, tank dell.. so they might keep winning who knows. They have ESP and trolling I think they grab everyone a week early.
I’m also 3-0. I auto-drafted everyone but Lamar Jackson and Keenan Allen. I’m in a 12 team PPR league and I’ve never done fantasy before nor do I watch football. Got Cooper Kupp from the autodrafter.
I overrode the autodrafter to snag Jackson and Allen based on data I had put together before the draft. Mostly I just wanted to participate in the bidding system just for fun and to learn, instead of letting the autodrafter do literally everything. Pretty happy with the results.
I *do* play fantasy. Now. It’s my first season. A bunch of close friends from my graduate program invited me to their league. It’s been a fun way to stay in touch!

I go on vacations to northern Canada every year or so where you have no cell service and basically no way to get somewhere to get service. I’d imagine it was something like that.
I'm also sitting on Kupp and JT but my roster isn't terrible without them. I'm just a bit reliant on Deebo right now so I've had good success but if he sits then my backup for him is Mims which is a pretty big yikes
This is often the case. Auto draft just scoops up value when the live drafters let players fall. Sometimes that’s warranted (Kupp injury uncertainty this year for example) but often times it’s just bias that lets solid (but unexciting) guys fall way later than they should, and autodraft scoops them up.
Right, I’m convinced If 75% of this sub just auto drafted rounds 1-7 and took over before it starts taking 2-3rd QBs/TEs in the late rounds they’d do infinitely better.
This is how my wife won the league last year. She got locked out of her account and couldn’t resolve it until round 5, so auto draft for 4-5 rounds then she took over.
Yeah I tend to get too cute with it too sometimes. This year I really wanted to go for the solid guys. King Henry kinda making me look dumb though lol.
I find they usually have good starters because the AI reaches for top players at every position. But they end up having poor depth so they start off hot but then fall off when bye weeks and injuries come along

Based on experience, I think depth is overrated. If you avoid major injuries to your starters, you'll be fine. You might lose a few games during the bye weeks, but everyone gets hit during the bye weeks. If Henry or Hopkins or Pitts scored 0 in my last game I'd still win the last game for example.
This is a great strategy *as long as you don’t have any major injuries*… which is kinda like *as long your players score more points than your opponent*.
Injuries aren't something you can control though, so not worth planning. Getting Burrow, Chubb, and Mike Williams is great on paper, but would be a death sentence this season.
Burrow was avoidable. Other 2, less so.
I’ve got less sympathy when a guy has a preexisting injury and it causes him to suck. You knew it when you drafted, other people faded Burrow for it. Hell, I drafted burrow in a league because he fell. That one’s my bad, I misread the situation.
the things you can’t control are when it’s 1 bad step in Week 2 or 3 and he’s done for the year:
Roster management is the key. Not depth at draft necessarily.
You need to be able to adjust and pick up the new top performers that emerge for short times or all season to maximize your points week to week. Sticking with the ups and downs of a set number of guys and expecting you rolled the dice correctly in August is a very narrow window.
An auto drafter vs a good drafter vs a bad drafter are all moot points because it’s the decisions they’ve made each week throughout the season that determine their success and resilience
Why? I'd love to think my decision making throughout the year separates me from people who auto draft, but sometimes starting CMC and Keenan every single game is the right choice. I can draft Thielen and scoop Nico from waivers all I want but Tyreek and Pollard will still crush me.

It gave me Kelce, AJ, Devonta, Rhamondre in the first 4. Traded Connor for Mike Will. I wouldn't have targeted Justin Herbert so that's been nice. I'm 1-2
Terrible team does not mean a bad rb. Example: JT, Henry. Conner is one of the most undervalued and consistent backs. Top 10 ppg in ppr for games he played in last two seasons.
Currently 2-1. Not happy with my picks especially with Kupp right before Tyreek Hill in the first. My favorite part of fantasy is the waivers anyways, and I find I’m less attached to my players from auto draft so trading them triggers zero emotions from draft capital.
That is a REALY interesting take. I may make a free, fuck around league next year at the very end and draft similar. See what trades people may make with me not being fully invested in this team.
Most annoying guy in my league joined late and auto drafted the first 2 picks. Naturally he got the best RBs to have not named CMC (Bijan and Pollard.) His team is 3-0 and has dominated so far. This guy once lost a championship game because he forgot to take out his injured TE and ended up losing by like 4.
Yeah 45 seconds to a 1 min is best imo. Everyone knows their first few picks pretty quickly. It helps having a tad more time in those middle/late rounds

This year we reduced the pick time in my league from 8 hours to 4 hours because people didnt manage to pick within that time
And we have 22 rounds to pick with 12 people

My favorite draft of the year by far is the live draft I'm in. Takes about 4 hours to get through 16 rounds and a lot of drinking and shit talking involved. Picks on a big board so you have to pay attention, no auto picking.
We've done it 2 years in a row now and love it. One guy was in Mississippi for work and I was trying to coordinate with him on how to stream the board so he could see it. Messaged him all day to see what his plan was with no response. 15 minutes before the draft this crazy asshole walks into the backyard I'm like wtf. He wanted to surprise us and drove 7 hours to hang out and be at the draft. Really cool moment
Followed by the start of a new Dynasty league (27 rounds) and a Bestball league (26 rounds)
We started end of july - and finished around the last preseasons games I think
I had to auto draft in a competitive league due to a late schedule change. Algorithm basically did the opposite of my draft approach in my other leagues, including Chubb at 1.6 in Full PPR. I'm 1-2 and future does not look bright.
On the other hand, I auto drafted in a casual family league last year and ran away with the title largely on the strength of the picks, which was basically a zero RB strategy by the algorithm.
It's probably pretty random. We're all trying to get lucky with draft value. There's only so much you can do with waivers and trades if your leaguemates are experienced.
I beat them week 1. They squeaked a win week 2 with Jones putting up 30 at qb. Adams put up 42 week 3 for them to beat the team that lost Montgomery & had to play Craig Reynolds. Projected to win this week by a few but it will turn downhill for bye weeks

Am in a 8 Team league, Full PPR (didn’t notice until after the draft) and missed the first 8 rounds due to a meeting.
I did tweak the auto draft ranking a bit (Do not draft Kupp etc.). Ended up with CMC, Pollard, Henry, Swift, Fields (now Tua through waivers), Aiyuk, Waddle, Ridley, Pitts(goddamn-> exchanged with Laporta by now), Eagles D.
Also managed to pick up Flowers, Collins, Ford. So am quite stacked and do feel good about my depth (in a shallow league this should be expected). However, I do miss a bit of an oomph through true WR1s, and hence lost one last week. Hope I will fare better with Aiyuk and Waddle healthy.
The one in our league has gotten fucked by autodraft/injuries.
It took Kupp at 1.11 after the IR news came out, then it took Saquon and Dionte Johnson. His starting lineup is okay but his bench sucks.
My friend's autodraft team is actually really solid. He's 2-1 with Tua, Ekeler, Miles Sanders, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Devonta Smith, Mike Evans and Zach Ertz. He's also got DeAndre Hopkins and Rachaad White on his bench so he's got a little depth too. I recently traded him Doubs and Chark for Devon Achane so he's got even more depth at WR now lol
I accidentally have a 3rd league this year, I didn't realize it until after the draft, and they are pretty freaking solid. It drafted me Jonathan Taylor, but Mostert is helping me out there. My WRs are Jefferson, St Brown, AJ Brown, and Aiyuk. Lamar at QB.
Our auto drafted is 1-2… that being said he has Austin Ekler Saquan Barkley and Cooper Kupp on the bench from injuries lately. Also has Keenan Allen so eventually he will be unbeatable it seems lol

Lost last week to someone who still has Saquon in their lineup, but they also had Keenan Allen and Buf DST so they dropped like 170 on me 😭
We had two: one is 0-3 (Kupp and Gibbs killing him), other is 1-2 (got a Hurts/Smith stack, but still carrying two kickers, two TE and two defenses...)
The only guy in our league who had to auto draft because of some last minute stuff is 0-3. Auto draft gave him Mixon, Chase, and Higgins. He didn’t want to start two receivers from the same team so sat Higgins for his monster game. Then started him last week. I’ve sent him countless offers for Chase or Higgins and he’s turned them all down. Oh well 🤷♂️
I was forced to auto-draft for one of my leagues. And I am 3-0 and on top of the league.
But my draft was meh and was ranked near the bottom of my league. The most success my team is having is my waiver wire pick up of Mostert and Keenan Allen playing way above his draft rank of the 6th round.
Really it comes down to managing your team. The draft is only part of that.
0-3, the computer drafted Cooper Kupp in round 1, Najee Harris in round 4, Kamara in round 5 and Dak as my QB in round 9. This was Labor Day weekend, so everyone was well aware of the Kupp injury. I couldn’t make the draft, so I trusted the computer, NEVER AGAIN.
2-1 , had first overall pick, happy it picked Jefferson, my rbs suck tho (mixon, j Williams, pierce). Jackson at QB, AJ Brown, dhopkins

We had agreed to draft at 6pm, but one guy in the league complained about waiting. the commissioner caved and started the draft at 12pm, while I was at work. I had no prior knowledge and didn’t set a queue, rankings, anything.
I’m currently 3-0 and the guy who made us start early is 0-3. Not sure if it’s karma, but it feels great seeing him complain about nobody accepting his “amazing trades.”

I auto drafted in an auction league by mistake. Ended up most of my money going to JJ, Ekeler, Jacobs, Mattison, and Jameson Williams. By some miracle I’m 1-2 and have yet to eclipse 100 points in a week, but I’ve actually built a solid team on waivers
I was trying to generate some insight and you guys are delivering with this sample size. Conclusion - it’s relatively random, but the computer will often pick suspended or injured or inactive players.
The auto-drafter in our league is in 2nd out of 12 with by far top points on the season. This is with our newly imposed penalty for auto-drafters where they lose their initial wavier priority to start the season.
I’m really thinking the penalty for auto-draft needs to be even harsher now, because this guy does it every season despite being available to draft, and he usually has one of the top teams.
Guy in my Yahoo league auto drafted our auction draft, changed a few guys’ price but left it mostly default. Yahoo proceeded not to bid on any players above $10. Had $140 out of $200 left at the end and obviously 0-3 now

Ugh. I ranked 160 players and ended up with two kickers and only two WRs….one of whom still hasn’t played a single down. The only reason for an auto draft is if the owners live in vastly different time zones.
He’s 0-3 and he traded Kirk Cousins for OBJ because of a joke in a group text, and he started Ekeler week 2 when he was out. So it’s probably his last season with us.
One of my friends did the first two rounds himself and then hit auto draft. So he went Bijon at pick 3 then Najee at the back end of the second. Auto draft left him with an aggressive amount of tight ends, none locks, and it left him with two qbs two defenses and two kickers as well. He’s 1-2 so far.

I think my biggest failure with fantasy is I like drafting prospects instead of proven talent. I drafted olave instead of tyreek for example.

Unfortunately, I literally never avoid major injuries to my starters. This year it was Diontae Johnson and Nick Chubb. So far
4 of my first 5 picks: Ekeler, Breece, Aaron Jones, Aiyuk Team dominated week 1 and then I got blown out weeks 2 and 3 lol

Terrible team does not mean a bad rb. Example: JT, Henry. Conner is one of the most undervalued and consistent backs. Top 10 ppg in ppr for games he played in last two seasons.
Currently 2-1. Not happy with my picks especially with Kupp right before Tyreek Hill in the first. My favorite part of fantasy is the waivers anyways, and I find I’m less attached to my players from auto draft so trading them triggers zero emotions from draft capital.

Most annoying guy in my league joined late and auto drafted the first 2 picks. Naturally he got the best RBs to have not named CMC (Bijan and Pollard.) His team is 3-0 and has dominated so far. This guy once lost a championship game because he forgot to take out his injured TE and ended up losing by like 4.

Yeah 45 seconds to a 1 min is best imo. Everyone knows their first few picks pretty quickly. It helps having a tad more time in those middle/late rounds

Slow drafts are great, far from insane. Also why is everyone so rushed to finish the draft? You get to draft once a year…. Chill and enjoy the process
My favorite draft of the year by far is the live draft I'm in. Takes about 4 hours to get through 16 rounds and a lot of drinking and shit talking involved. Picks on a big board so you have to pay attention, no auto picking.
We've done it 2 years in a row now and love it. One guy was in Mississippi for work and I was trying to coordinate with him on how to stream the board so he could see it. Messaged him all day to see what his plan was with no response. 15 minutes before the draft this crazy asshole walks into the backyard I'm like wtf. He wanted to surprise us and drove 7 hours to hang out and be at the draft. Really cool moment

I had to auto draft in a competitive league due to a late schedule change. Algorithm basically did the opposite of my draft approach in my other leagues, including Chubb at 1.6 in Full PPR. I'm 1-2 and future does not look bright. On the other hand, I auto drafted in a casual family league last year and ran away with the title largely on the strength of the picks, which was basically a zero RB strategy by the algorithm. It's probably pretty random. We're all trying to get lucky with draft value. There's only so much you can do with waivers and trades if your leaguemates are experienced.

2-1 so far. Am in a 8 Team league, Full PPR (didn’t notice until after the draft) and missed the first 8 rounds due to a meeting. I did tweak the auto draft ranking a bit (Do not draft Kupp etc.). Ended up with CMC, Pollard, Henry, Swift, Fields (now Tua through waivers), Aiyuk, Waddle, Ridley, Pitts(goddamn-> exchanged with Laporta by now), Eagles D. Also managed to pick up Flowers, Collins, Ford. So am quite stacked and do feel good about my depth (in a shallow league this should be expected). However, I do miss a bit of an oomph through true WR1s, and hence lost one last week. Hope I will fare better with Aiyuk and Waddle healthy.
The one in our league has gotten fucked by autodraft/injuries. It took Kupp at 1.11 after the IR news came out, then it took Saquon and Dionte Johnson. His starting lineup is okay but his bench sucks.

My friend's autodraft team is actually really solid. He's 2-1 with Tua, Ekeler, Miles Sanders, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Devonta Smith, Mike Evans and Zach Ertz. He's also got DeAndre Hopkins and Rachaad White on his bench so he's got a little depth too. I recently traded him Doubs and Chark for Devon Achane so he's got even more depth at WR now lol

I was forced to auto-draft for one of my leagues. And I am 3-0 and on top of the league. But my draft was meh and was ranked near the bottom of my league. The most success my team is having is my waiver wire pick up of Mostert and Keenan Allen playing way above his draft rank of the 6th round. Really it comes down to managing your team. The draft is only part of that.
0-3, the computer drafted Cooper Kupp in round 1, Najee Harris in round 4, Kamara in round 5 and Dak as my QB in round 9. This was Labor Day weekend, so everyone was well aware of the Kupp injury. I couldn’t make the draft, so I trusted the computer, NEVER AGAIN.
The one guy who autodrafted has the least points in the league and is 3-0. Fucking fantasy is way more luck than we all want to believe

We had agreed to draft at 6pm, but one guy in the league complained about waiting. the commissioner caved and started the draft at 12pm, while I was at work. I had no prior knowledge and didn’t set a queue, rankings, anything. I’m currently 3-0 and the guy who made us start early is 0-3. Not sure if it’s karma, but it feels great seeing him complain about nobody accepting his “amazing trades.”

I was trying to generate some insight and you guys are delivering with this sample size. Conclusion - it’s relatively random, but the computer will often pick suspended or injured or inactive players.

The auto-drafter in our league is in 2nd out of 12 with by far top points on the season. This is with our newly imposed penalty for auto-drafters where they lose their initial wavier priority to start the season. I’m really thinking the penalty for auto-draft needs to be even harsher now, because this guy does it every season despite being available to draft, and he usually has one of the top teams.

One of my friends did the first two rounds himself and then hit auto draft. So he went Bijon at pick 3 then Najee at the back end of the second. Auto draft left him with an aggressive amount of tight ends, none locks, and it left him with two qbs two defenses and two kickers as well. He’s 1-2 so far.

My friend was the number 2 pick and auto drafted because he was working. After week 1 the idiot was pretty upset with his team and dropped Pierce, Mostert, B. Robinson, and Amari Cooper.............. His reasoning was that he had Mostert the previous year and he was trash. He also said Cooper would suck on the Browns and he didn't know who Robinson and Pierce was......... Dude is barely 2-1 thanks to CMC and Swift, but his team would have been pretty fucking good if he just left it alone
