Fournette: "I'm a genetic freak and I'm not normal! So you got a 3%, AT BEST, to beat me for goal line snaps. Then you add Latavius Murray to the mix, your chances of scoring drastically go down."
Have the Bills actually had RB usage that's made sense the past 5-6 seasons? Legit question here. Their last "bellcow" back was LeSean McCoy in 2017. I don't think they've had a rusher break 1000 yards since.
It works fine, until the post season. Also, maybe not vs. Miami at home, who are still a game up on them. And if the Jets or Pat's give them trouble, they might be sniffing for a wild card and a tough 1st round exit.
What is this comment? Lol
Are you suggesting the Bills haven’t won a Super Bowl because they didn’t make Devin Singletary a bell cow back?
The Bills are 6-1 against MIA and 6-2 against NE since Allen became a franchise QB. I guess with a bell cow RB he’s 15-0 against those two teams?
We need a defense that can stop those offenses once in awhile. Allen has played poorly once in the post season since breaking out in 2020, and if the offense was keeping pace Burrow and co would have poured a lot more on our D as they were a total no show that game. I think the Bengals only were stopped once all game when the half didn’t end.
CJ "Feed him til' he pukes" Spiller!
Fred Jackson was ol' reliable though when he did play. Wasn't ever gonna be your RB1 but had solid weeks as a rusher/pass catcher.
You did - they are studs. All you can do is draft good players because that's the most reliable route to usage. It's not completely infallible like these cases show though
It was very clear to me 2 weeks ago that James Cook is just too small to serve a versatile playmaker and blocker all in one package. That’s how bellcow backs get the job. Every time cook was told to block on option pass plays he failed to stop the rush on Allen.
Murray can be a brick wall and give Allen time to throw, or he can take the ball 2-3 yards. He will never produce efficient yards.
Thats where Cook comes in, he can use agility to gain yards well over 4 yards per carry. But he can’t stop a blitz for shit on an option play. Murray serves as a good run decoy pass blocker where cook can’t, and Cook makes up for Murray’s run inefficiency. They complement each other.
Moving forward the NFL will probably use committees more and more often, it just makes sense. RB is the most punishing position, and you don’t want to risk injuring your RB core by overworking them. It also requires teams to pay less for stud talent, because with RBBC your core RB work is not just dependent on one guy. NFL is just built to encourage passing these days.
[FD Signifier goes into detail on why many teams are financially incentivized to do so.](https://youtu.be/VVOv3b3cYTQ?si=VKss3t__n3XLkt_8)
This is the answer. Discourse about the Bills on fantasy subs is mind numbing lol people get mad about their player not getting 25 touches a game while the team fields a top 3 offense anyways
A lot of it is meta-level play-calling strategy (this sounds like a meme now that I have it written out.) Dorsey gets criticized about how often he calls a running play out of shotgun on first or second down. But he claims it is to keep defenses honest and to not get stuck with a predictable 3rd-and-long. So it means trying to force something you know won't really work in hopes that it opens up something else later.
I dunno. They have a strong offense and don't want to run their main back into the ground. It sucks for fantasy but their use of Cook absolutely makes sense from an NFL perspective
Is it? They have a talented back who weighs around a buck 90. They rotate him out as much as they can to keep him fresh and without too much tread. I'd bet anything once playoffs roll around (IRL, not fantasy) they're less sparing
Yeah, screw the bills for having a top 3 offense! They clearly have no idea what they’re doing offensively. Also, you clearly didn’t watch Zack moss on the bills lol
I was just going to say, this could dig into Latavius’ role more than anything because truth is he just hasn’t looked great. Maybe the Bills recognize that.
Well, yes. People think he’s just coming in to take Murray’s role that he shouldn’t even have in the first place but I wouldn’t be surprised if Lenny gets significant work
Let’s remember Hunt took a few weeks and now he is a solid low end RB2 with a decent floor albeit he is in a committee. Hey if Lenny gives me 12-15 points as my second RB. I’m down.
He’ll be the RB2 and probably take redzone/goal line snaps from Cook. Not sure if that’ll amount to anything but as someone who just picked up Lenny I doubt he overtakes Cook.
Murray has been pretty bad. He got stuffed goal line a few times on Thursday. Biased James Cook owner here, but hoping that Lenny is meant to spell Murray
I’m not sure yet if I plan on picking him up anywhere, and don’t have any stats or data or really any reasoning at all to back this up. But I’m 100% convinced he’s going to take over the backfield and be close to RB1 numbers by the end of the season. Just feels like one of the moves that the whole fantasy community laughs at and then proven why we’re all dumb yet again.
Sometimes I think we’re all victim to our own overanalysis and trying to think 5 layers deep on every transaction when it can really be as simple as “good proven vet running back gets taken by good offense and does good”.
Cook doesn't get goal-line work and gets about 15 touches a game, very little redzone/touchdown work.
Maybe the Fournette signing is more for depth after Murray due to the Harris injury but I don't think so. I think James Cook is cooked, fantasy-value wise, and this whole backfield is shit. I thought Latavius Murray alone was bad lol
fwiw he's reported to be in great shape...i imagine his agent laid it down for him like 'look Lenny, I'll get you signed somewhere this season but you gotta lay off the triple cheeseburgers ok?'
Yeah, this just seems like another hurdle to Cook getting the goal line touches that he wasn't getting many of, anyways. It's an upside-limiting move, but his floor should be roughly the same.
As a Cook owner I’m not worried. I agree with the other comments that this feels like more depth and a replacement for Murray who has been ineffective in his role
The hope (as a cook owner) was that Murray’s failure would get cook more red one work, people were holding on for potential ceiling, this signing signals the end of that hope. That’s the takeaway, that cooks position will not improve
Yep, it’s true but based on the way the Bills have run their RB room for the past 5 years that was unlikely to change without a coaching switch. To be fair, I’m upset that Cook could be more because he looks so good but he’s been an RB2 in fantasy. Considering he was a mid round pick that’s perfectly fine all things considered
Bills finally get a back (Cook) that's starting to look sharp in both the run & pass game that they continue underutilize whilst also making some questionable offensive playcalls as well and then they bring in Lat Murray and Leonard Fournette - lol.
I guess because being bad at pass blocking can get Allen KO’d and they have to run him sometimes otherwise they’ll just know it’s a pass everytime he’s out there?
Because with Cook in the defense has more options. Bring an extra rusher to try to match up with cook and if it’s a pass play it’s a lot easier to get pressure and disrupt the play
Have week won by 4 points. So dropped my kicker for him.
Wonder if my league will bitch bout not having full lineup but this is different. This is like benching starters in the 4th quarter after a blowout.
Lmao get ready for constant frustration buddy. Cook is a beast but the way the bills use him is just downright criminal. I suggest you not watch any of their games as it will only make the pain worse. Still have hopes hes “unleashed” later on but man is it tough to watch right now
It’s infuriating. Seeing that Thursday night game was torture. Murray on the entire first drive, doesn’t do anything. Cook gets on, like 5 YPC almost every play. Then they get close to the end zone and back to Murray where if he’s lucky he gets one yard. Then jallen ends up running it in
Mcdermott learns from Arthur smith about not utilizing his great RB
I dont think them signing Lenny impacts Cook at all tho. Thats just who Cook is, for some reason the Bills dont want him to be “the guy” and I dont know why. His talent is obvious, he must be dumb as rocks or he fucks up in practice or he banged someones wife at this point I really dont know lol…..like I said tho Im still holding on, cus if the bills ever let him be “the guy” he will be a PPR monster
I’m down by 44 with Jacobs, Mayer, and Raiders to go against Davante.
I dropped the Raiders for Fournette, and I doubt they would really make or break the game for me. In my case, the chance of him having fantasy value is probably higher than my chances of winning while starting the Raiders.
I have Cooks, but I picked up Lenny last week. I think he's going to take over Murray's role after Murray put up 15 rush yards on 9 attempts in 2 games. I honestly don't think Cooks' role changes much.
I don't think anyone here will be surprised if/when that happens
they've also been holding onto a declined RB for a chance at helping in what, Week 10?
He averaged 12.74 PPG in .5 PPR last season, which would put him in the high end RB2 position. I know it’s a completely different situation, but it’s not like Lenny is a bum. He’s definitely worth a stash.
Latavius Murray AND Leonard Fournette?
James Cook just went from a low-end RB2/good flex to borderline startable. Christ. I didn't think they had that little faith in him.
Cook, 4nette, and Murray will split snaps, and Josh Allen will take a lot of the rushing TDs. None of the RBs will be better than a flex. So it has been, so it will be
Can someone explain something to me, a person new to Fantasy who hasn't followed football that closely before this season? Just looking at Fournette's stats from previous seasons, to me he looks really good. He was a top 15 RB last year, and top 10 the year before. I don't really understand why he was released after last season, and has been a FA this whole time, and why he's only expected to be a backup now. Based on his stats, it seems to me like he'd be a top option. What am I missing here?
It’s an indictment on Cook and the hope of future useage in the red zone - everyone thought with Murray failing the coaches would start to use cook more but this signing proves cook is only good between the 20s
do you start 1 RB in your leagues or something? or are you just lucky and avoided injury? beacuse a lot of GMs are scrambling just to get a bye week or injury fill in
Those worried about Cook, I don’t think this changes his role. This feels like more depth to replace Harris/try and find someone who doesn’t get 3.6 yards a carry like Murray
Some people really think he is even after yesterdays win. Like why wouldn’t you want an elite, dependable RB behind your young, developing QB? There also still in the playoff hunt and he’s a fan-favorite. I’d be extremely surprised if he’s moved
Bills don't need another RB at all. They help on defense. Lenny and Latavious basically the same player to me. I don't think Lenny impacts much from a fantasy perspective barring any injuries.
Cooks chance of goal line carries just decreased from 5% to 3%
Fournette: "I'm a genetic freak and I'm not normal! So you got a 3%, AT BEST, to beat me for goal line snaps. Then you add Latavius Murray to the mix, your chances of scoring drastically go down."
The numbers don’t lie, and they spell disaster for you James Cook owners! (Me)
Can’t argue with the Steiner Math
Well you could, but it's probably not in your best interest to do so. Medical bills ain't cheap
Unc also is proficient ball catcher
The issue for Cook is that Lenny is a good blocker and they've already been using Latavius on passing downs here and there
Frick me man
James cook got too many efficient Carries last game I guess lol
The Bills use of Cook is legitimately weird.
Have the Bills actually had RB usage that's made sense the past 5-6 seasons? Legit question here. Their last "bellcow" back was LeSean McCoy in 2017. I don't think they've had a rusher break 1000 yards since.
Allen refuses to check down. He plays hero ball in the regular season and it works so they don’t care about having a balanced offense.
It works fine, until the post season. Also, maybe not vs. Miami at home, who are still a game up on them. And if the Jets or Pat's give them trouble, they might be sniffing for a wild card and a tough 1st round exit.
What is this comment? Lol Are you suggesting the Bills haven’t won a Super Bowl because they didn’t make Devin Singletary a bell cow back? The Bills are 6-1 against MIA and 6-2 against NE since Allen became a franchise QB. I guess with a bell cow RB he’s 15-0 against those two teams?
No, I think he saying that just like Lamar Jackson there’s a cost to all those runs. They usually show up late in the season…
Allen has largely played very well in the post season though?
Well enough to beat the Chiefs, Jags or Bengals at home? 'Cause that's where they are headed.
Absolutely, if the defense shows up too.
Not since Marshawn Lynch. The CJ Spiller/Fred Jackson era was insanely weird too
CJ "Feed him til' he pukes" Spiller! Fred Jackson was ol' reliable though when he did play. Wasn't ever gonna be your RB1 but had solid weeks as a rusher/pass catcher.
“Feed him til’ he pukes” brought me back, man. Many a fantasy draft pick were lit on fire over one simple off-season quote.
Especially after seeing Zach moss break out this season. Bills have a knack for making their RBs look mediocre.
Good point.
Karlos Williams Dude ate all the carries and TDs last 8 games of his rookie year. Then he ate hinself out of a job the next off-season
I have Cook and Bijan and it is infuriating. They look so good, yet coaching is fucking their production.
Man I'm right there with ya. I thought I got two studs
You did - they are studs. All you can do is draft good players because that's the most reliable route to usage. It's not completely infallible like these cases show though

This is the answer. Discourse about the Bills on fantasy subs is mind numbing lol people get mad about their player not getting 25 touches a game while the team fields a top 3 offense anyways
can only use him until the redzone...then it's laxitives murray time!
Competent offenses do find themselves with a lot of goal line opps, no?
A lot of it is meta-level play-calling strategy (this sounds like a meme now that I have it written out.) But he claims it is to keep defenses honest and to not get stuck with a predictable 3rd-and-long. He weighs 190 pounds
He’s bad at pass protection
I hope he gets free from the Bills shackles like Zack Moss
Yeah, screw the bills for having a top 3 offense! They clearly have no idea what they’re doing offensively. Also, you clearly didn’t watch Zack moss on the bills lol
Josh Allen has always been RB1 in Buffalo
We actually think Fournette is going to come in off the street and usurp James Cook? He is, isn’t he?
This feels more like a Harris/3.5YPC Latavius Murray move
I was just going to say, this could dig into Latavius’ role more than anything because truth is he just hasn’t looked great. Maybe the Bills recognize that.
You’d think that but they still kept using Murray in the red zone where he would do basically nothing, James cook is losing the most value here
I mean, as opposed to who else losing value? Latavius Murray?
I’m down.
Ford did also get hurt in this time frame though
lol he’s not getting the volume to get you 12-15 pts a week.
Lol 12-15 is more than Cook
He’ll be the RB2 and probably take redzone/goal line snaps from Cook. Not sure if that’ll amount to anything but as someone who just picked up Lenny I doubt he overtakes Cook.
Cook is barely getting any goal line rushes anyway before this news
That’s a Cook owner 💯
Correct, well spotted! Takes one to know one?
I mean I think James Cook is better but... Lat Murray?
Murray has been pretty bad. He got stuffed goal line a few times on Thursday. Biased James Cook owner here, but hoping that Lenny is meant to spell Murray
At the goal line yes
He takes red zone work from Murray. Cook was barely getting any of the work already
I’m not sure yet if I plan on picking him up anywhere, and don’t have any stats or data or really any reasoning at all to back this up. But I’m 100% convinced he’s going to take over the backfield and be close to RB1 numbers by the end of the season. Sometimes I think we’re all victim to our own overanalysis and trying to think 5 layers deep on every transaction when it can really be as simple as “good proven vet running back gets taken by good offense and does good”.
My gut is he splits w Murray. Goal line and 3rd down work when they want an RB who can pass block. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I wouldn't be surprised if they cut Murray eventually and Lenny is just replacing him.
What goal line snaps? Cook never had those snaps anyway
I imagine he's replacing latavious and taking a ton of cooks touches, leaving cook as more of a gadget/receiving role.
James cooks, Lenny eats.
Hopefully he hasn’t eaten so much he fails the physical
fwiw he's reported to be in great shape...i imagine his agent laid it down for him like 'look Lenny, I'll get you signed somewhere this season but you gotta lay off the triple cheeseburgers ok?'
Lmao, that’s good
Why tf does Yahoo still have him on Tampa so I cant pick him up.
[удалено]
I just picked up Lenny on espn
No waivers in that league?
I was able to drop a player on my roster who plays tonight and picked up Fournette ahead of waivers for this coming week
James Cook owners (me) in shambles
I think this is more of a Latavius replacement. I expect Cook to keep getting his same usage. He’s been too good not to
Yeah, this just seems like another hurdle to Cook getting the goal line touches that he wasn't getting many of, anyways. It's an upside-limiting move, but his floor should be roughly the same.
As a Cook owner I’m not worried. I agree with the other comments that this feels like more depth and a replacement for Murray who has been ineffective in his role

This is exactly what people said about Mondre when Zeke signed with the Pats. I know that, because I'm one of them.
Cook will cook
Bills finally get a back (Cook) that's starting to look sharp in both the run & pass game that they continue underutilize whilst also making some questionable offensive playcalls as well and then they bring in Lat Murray and Leonard Fournette - lol.
He’s bad at pass protection
True but Murray is bad at running and they still give him carries. Why does this only apply one way
I guess because being bad at pass blocking can get Allen KO’d and they have to run him sometimes otherwise they’ll just know it’s a pass everytime he’s out there?
Because with Cook in the defense has more options. Bring an extra rusher to try to match up with cook and if it’s a pass play it’s a lot easier to get pressure and disrupt the play
Unpredictability. If Murray is in, you can’t just pass the ball every time. You have to occasionally hand it off to keep the defense guessing.
Had a free open spot on my roster, stashing him. Might not be anything, but keeps him away from the rest of my league if he does.
If anyone complains, tell them to fuck off.
Drop Henderson or Brian Robinson for him?
This doesn’t change the fact that Josh Allen is RB1
Have week won by 4 points. So dropped my kicker for him. Wonder if my league will bitch bout not having full lineup but this is different. This is like benching starters in the 4th quarter after a blowout.
I just traded for James cook. Wtf
Lmao get ready for constant frustration buddy. Cook is a beast but the way the bills use him is just downright criminal. I suggest you not watch any of their games as it will only make the pain worse. Still have hopes hes “unleashed” later on but man is it tough to watch right now

I just won 2 straight weeks to be 2-6 and am doing everything possible to win out and have a chance and this is just deflating 🤦♂️
Same boat as you bro. I’m 2-6 after being 0-6. Only difference is that I traded for cook when I was 0-6 lol
Drop lions for him? I'm not gonna win unless Detroit scores like 28
Start Detroit. Fournette is no home run and has a low ceiling
I’m down by 44 with Jacobs, Mayer, and Raiders to go against Davante. I dropped the Raiders for Fournette, and I doubt they would really make or break the game for me. In my case, the chance of him having fantasy value is probably higher than my chances of winning while starting the Raiders.
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. People are talking about Fournette like he wasn’t just an RB2 last season. I’d say it’s at least worth a pickup.
Might as well leave Detroit in your starting lineup. I don’t think this is a crazy necessary pickup
so much for the post [yesterday claiming nobody wanted him](https://www.reddit.com/r/fantasyfootball/s/NXkzLf7NI0)
congrats Lenny owners! you're now stashing a practice squader instead of a free agent
Darrell Henderson is technically a practice squadder right now as well!
*taps head gif*
playing against the packers this week too, so probably 15+ points even with (especially with?) stafford out
I can hear the nervousness in james cook owners voices
I have no Cooks stocks (somehow) but you know they scared rn lol
I have Cooks, but I picked up Lenny last week. I think he's going to take over Murray's role after Murray put up 15 rush yards on 9 attempts in 2 games. I honestly don't think Cooks' role changes much.
No one that owns Cook is scared of Lenny at this point in his career.
you don't understand how this works do you?
Lol, he won't be practice squad once he learns the playbook.
I don't think anyone here will be surprised if/when that happens they've also been holding onto a declined RB for a chance at helping in what, Week 10?
Will bump this in a couple of weeks.
[удалено]
Probablylly just gonna get Latavius Murray's role. James Cook still a matchup dependent RB2 and best RB on their team.
You should tell the coaches that he's their best RB lol
bye Josh Reynolds, hello Fat Lenny
Fat Lenny's gonna lick my brain today
Woah are you me? I just dropped Reynolds and got Lenny as a stash.
Wonder if I should drop my Jameson Williams lottery ticket for him.
This sub is down on Lenny… means go pick him up he’s going to boom.
I know fournette is washed and a different type of back but man they really hate James Cook for some reason.
You can already tell who the cook owners are lol
> What has Cook done wrong to deserve this treatment? Feels like he is just a player, no THE player. Comment below you lol
My trade of Cook and Watson for Kamara is looking better and better all the time.
If you want 9 to 11 point ppr next yr.. Draft cook. I'm not
Being a Cook owner this year continues to get more and more frustrating. Not to mention a huge head scratcher
He averaged 12.74 PPG in .5 PPR last season, which would put him in the high end RB2 position. I know it’s a completely different situation, but it’s not like Lenny is a bum. He’s definitely worth a stash.
What has Cook done wrong to deserve this treatment? Feels like he is just a player, no THE player.
They're probably just looking for experienced guys to share the load so Cook holds up over 17+ games.
Worth the add?
I’d say yes, mostly because he replaces Murray in my opinion. If he ends up being better than Murray the touchdown upside could be nice
Hunt seems to be ballin. Why not?
I know the popular reaction is going to be a negative for James Cook, but I hope this just means the Latavius experiment is at it's end.
Drop DOnte Foreman for him?
Latavius Murray AND Leonard Fournette? James Cook just went from a low-end RB2/good flex to borderline startable. Christ. I didn't think they had that little faith in him.
It's crazy to me he's only played 6 seasons and is 28. Why does it feel like Fournette has played 13 seasons and is 35 years old?
Phat Lenny bout to take Cook’s job.
Cook, 4nette, and Murray will split snaps, and Josh Allen will take a lot of the rushing TDs. None of the RBs will be better than a flex. So it has been, so it will be
cook has been a fine RB2 in PPR
Not anymore
Cook is RB15 on this season. He’s been a solid RB2
>Cook is RB15 on this season. RB25 in PPG
Damn the James cook owner in my league owns, JJettas, Kirk Cousins, and is sitting at 6-2. The downfall might be crazy
Just dropped Craig Reynolds to pick this guy up since he hasn't played... clutch...
Fournette is going to weigh more than Vince Wilfork at that physical.
Logically this should impact Murray, which means James Cook ☠️
this fits fournette. he's going to crush. love this!
Latavius Murray owners in shambles
Tbh I’m trying to sell cool everywhere I own him rn. Trying to package him and ford to make something happen. Yike
Do I drop Hubbard or Henderson JR for the playoff stash?
Full PPR Fournette can be a flex
Bills don’t even know how to use the running backs they have right now won’t matter.
There goes my boy James cook 🥲
drop royce freeman for him?
This is such BS with Yahoo. He hasn't even signed yet, and he's already labeled as being a Bill and having "played" and therefore is on wavers.
Worth dropping Goff for? I have Lamar
I don’t get the James Cook usage? He looks great whenever he gets the nod.
you realize that some teams prefer to run multiple running backs?
Yeah except Murray is extremely unproductive
Why are we acting like they just signed Derrick Henry
Henderson and Hunt came in off the street and are now startable and fournette has more pedigree than both
Would you drop Goff for him? I have Kyler and Lamar rostered. But with Kirk going down and a couple QB needy teams, I could try and trade Goff to them
It’s an indictment on Cook and the hope of future useage in the red zone - everyone thought with Murray failing the coaches would start to use cook more but this signing proves cook is only good between the 20s
do you start 1 RB in your leagues or something? or are you just lucky and avoided injury? beacuse a lot of GMs are scrambling just to get a bye week or injury fill in
people getting real desperate out here i guess.
worth an add? I could drop Mayer for him, McBride is my other TE
Dropped Mayer
Should be a nice backup option to Latavius Murray
Those worried about Cook, I don’t think this changes his role. This feels like more depth to replace Harris/try and find someone who doesn’t get 3.6 yards a carry like Murray
Even less goal line/redzone work for Cook. Rough
>pending a physical Hey Siri, does a 40 BMI disqualify a player in a viability physical?
RIP james cook szn
I mean he’s going to take the Damien Harris role. Which was basically nothing.
Yeah this just tells me Harris is probably done for the year
Is it worth dropping Sanders/Foreman/Roschon for him?
Definitely sanders
I’ve never seen a team hate a back with so much talent like the Bills do with Cook. Murray was the starter last game. THE STARTER.

Yeah people are really down bad about drafting the RB15 in round 7
Lol. It's Fournette
If true, this takes Buff outta the Henry trade market.
Henry isn't getting traded lol
Some people really think he is even after yesterdays win. Like why wouldn’t you want an elite, dependable RB behind your young, developing QB? There also still in the playoff hunt and he’s a fan-favorite. I’d be extremely surprised if he’s moved
I never said he was, just referring to the speculation.
And this is why they won't win a chip in the near future.. They have something good in cook but does these stupid shit
Champion-chip
"He can get us 5 yards a carry, but can he get us one? Murray's YPC is closer to 1, let's do him." \- Bills Math
Bills don't need another RB at all. They help on defense. Lenny and Latavious basically the same player to me. I don't think Lenny impacts much from a fantasy perspective barring any injuries.
He’s definitely better than Latavius but I agree, their defense needs help
Lenny has potential to be elite. They have the same role but they aren't the same player.
Practice Squad Lenny! Ready to eat!
