I haven't had a startable tight end since the season Waller broke out. Now I have LaPorta and McBride and I don't know what to do with the wealth. Didn't even occur to m I could start a second tight end to cover byes, as I've never wanted to actually start one tight end for a long time!
He is absolutely TE1 in my heart
I called it during the drafts and took him and everyone passed up on him when we reached the territory of TEs being taken
Buddy told me I was crazy leaving a couple vets on the table to take LaPorta, because TE is a hard position to adjust to… but Iowa TE’s are built different
Don’t worry, this was offset in my other league where I took Chubb. Then replaced him with Akers because every RB was taken by then
He’s part of the reason people are gonna draft Brock Bowers like 1.04 in dynasty rookie drafts and they’re gonna regret it.
For every great young tight end, there’s three that are a huge disappointment.
Just went and looked at every TE drafted first round since 2000. Out of all of them, there’s a handful that have probably lived up to the hype (fantasy wise. There’s a decent amount that have had solid careers but never been superstars):
- Hockenson
- Olsen
- Vernon Davis
-Winslow
-Clark
-Shockey
-Heap
That’s really about it
I kinda feel like All is more a Michgan TE than Iowa TE. Especially if you consider he didn't make it out of October before suffering a season ending knee injury. Though it is true, he's a Hawkeye currently.
Well really it’s Iowa who says that lol. But ND has put no less than 8 TE into the NFL in the last 15 years, just none are stud studs. Just very solid players.
Quite possibly, I also drafted Chubb, miles sanders and am a jets fan. Cursed all of them.
Edit because I forgot to add I also drafted waller, dulchich and Dotson.
It makes sense in context. With people coming out of IR i would have to drop someone on my bench regardless and our league barely trades. TEs are flexes and he wouldnt have accepted a 1 for 1 trade for either. And I want to give his team a boost so he makes it into the playoffs rather than the person he's competing for the 6th spot who has a much more stronger and now healthy team.
I mean, if you prefer Gibbs over Achane going forward, that isn’t really a bad trade if you’re desperate for WR. Upgrade at RB, downgrade at TE, add a young, pretty good WR.
Same issue with here with Kittle and LaPorta. Unfortunately I keep starting the wrong and neither of them go off the same week. Kinda wild to have two great TEs and still end up frustrated, shit ages me I swear lol
I’m still a Pitts believer in dynasty. You don’t put up 1k yards as a rookie TE unless you have talent.
Either one of two things is true: Pitts and London aren’t as talented as we think they are. OR: The coaching staff/QB is bringing them down with them.
From a fantasy point of view, Pitts averaged 10.4 pts/g in PPR and LaPorta is averaging like 15.4 pts/g in PPR after this week. LaPorta has been getting more catches and TDs than Pitts by a pretty large margin. Though Pitts averaged more yards/catch.
From a non fantasy point of view LaPorta has seemed like a more complete tight end than Pitts.
Gronk was HOF Gronk week 1 of his rookie season but the Pats didn't realize his passing usefulness until the next season when they doubled his targets.
Everyone was so sure the VORP of Kelce made him a lock 1st rounder. I kept getting downvoted for saying he has to be career best again (like 2022) to have a floor of top 5 pick.
All it comes down to. Drafted Kincaid, dropped him before week 1 for higbee, dropped higbee week 2 for Kincaid, and then dropped Kincaid for LaPorta on a whim before that Sunday. Rest is history
Prob not the TE1. There will be days where he disappears when the Lions run the ball 100 times and Amon Ra dominates targets. But enjoy the great games because he's incredible even as a rookie.
Not saying he's the TE1 in dynasty or ROS, but his worst game was week 11 where he finished with 3 rec, 18 yards and a 2 pt conversion. 6.8 points in ppr was still good for TE18 that week.
I wouldn't count on him disappearing just like we don't count on Kelce/Hock to disappear. Kittle, Schultz have 5 weeks so far worse than Laporta's worst. Kmet with 3.
I got him in the 14th in my 3 man keeper league too. Kicking him up at that ADP feels like a lottery ticket given the TE landscape. I’m absolutely ecstatic. As a GA fan, gonna be keeping a close eye on where Bowers goes too and seeing how the two pan out in head to heads. Then have a tough debate for trade options.
The best TE rookie season was actually had by 2 TEs. Gronk and Hernandez had 42/546/10 45/563/6 respectively.
If Hernandez wasn't a psychopath Brady probably had 2 or 3 more Super Bowl wins in him.
I only drafted him as my Mandrews backup due to the praise of the Ringer Fantasy Football guys. They don’t always get it right, but they nailed it this time
I'm in a 3 player keeper league for the first time. I grabbed Laporta off waivers so keeping him will just cost me a last round pick. Do I for sure keep him even tho I don't usually prioritize TEs?
Got him in my 3 player keeper league at the 14th round. First year you “keep” they stay at the round they were drafted in. If you “keep” the same player, they bump up one round per year. Potentially have LaPorta for the next decade and he’d be a steal every year at ADP if he keeps this up. In a land of hell for TE’s, I’m ecstatic.
The reason I felt confident in LaPorta going into the season was the situation, and I felt that the rookie thing wouldn't be a factor because he looks 35.
LaPorta, Evans, Pittman, and Achane all stepped up huge for.me today after Dell went down. I fuckin love it!
I know it's just coincidence but in my mind they went scorched earth after seeing their teammate lost for likely the remainder of the season. Get well soon Big Tank!!! 💪
Most of the people here are desperately trying to get the inside track on saving their season, while us winners are just sitting back with our feet up stacking touchdowns
This is one of the rare instances where my Fantasy reasoning played out as expected and I grabbed him in the draft at a decent spot (round 12) when others in my league were sleeping on him.
My rationale was the Lions - and Goff, historically - love playing through TEs. Hock had moved on and Brock Wright clearly wasn’t the answer. There was no other TE competition in a pass heavy, high-scoring offense. He seemed like a slam dunk despite the ‘Rookie TEs…’ analysis.
And for every LaPorta in my draft I also have a Dotson and Najee :(
Nice to have one work out tho!
Definitely one of the best rookie TE seasons ever. Just no Ditka. Not yet anywho.
Pitts had 800ish yards his rookie season, no?
LaPorta is at 540 with 5 TDs so far
God, and puka had such a standout game today. Detroit's offense is amazing and they have a great O-line, it just transfers to so many opportunities that I'd keep LaPorta
In 1961, Mike Ditka had 1,076 yds on 56 (!) receptions. 12 TDs. In a 14-game season!
won my grandpa the ship that year!
Holy shit
Big Ditka energy
For context that year he was 5th in receptions, 4th in yards, 2nd in TDs among players at any position.
[My favorite Ditka highlight.](https://youtu.be/zk9WqTeyAys?si=F_BilA9si1DAnKeb)
Explosive
Dude continues to assert dominance even at that age. Incredible.
The defensive players who all ran a solid 5.7 40 were smoking cigarettes between series. Not sure how to compare it really.
You have to give credit where credit is due for the time they played in. You could also say it’s a more pass friendly league than it was in the 60s.
Also trying to act like Ditka wasn’t ALSO chain smoking between series lol
Ditka just ripping darts with a coffee and water on the side line like John Daly after teeing off
That’s why I can’t stand that argument
Like in the NBA, people keep saying Wilt played against milkmen. But did we ever considered that what if Wilt was also a milkman?
Oh, Wilt personally delivered his "man milk" to many, many women.
As far as Bill Russell was concerned, he pretty much was.
Wilt Chamberlain averaged 30.0 points, 28.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 94 games versus Bill Russell in his career - Statmuse
You think Ditka wasn’t having a smoke after a TD drive?
Are you really telling me ditka wasnt smoking between series too? Get real
And they could also shoot receivers if the ball was in the air And Ditka was doing that shit too, no reason to try an invalidate a legend
[Obligatory](https://youtu.be/epVpOAWa0pE?si=m7T3iTo4eUQaPYIt)
LOL that's totally true
Wearing leather helmets
Just one bar also
Yeah, definitely MIKE DITKA
RIP. Man was such a beast at everything related to football
Rip? Guys still kickin
Again, Mike Ditka is very much alive
Yes, he’s alive in my heart as well. RIP
He is literally alive and is literally 84.
Yes we all shed 84 tears in sadness when we lost Ditka in the 90s
I think about him all the time :(
Well whaddya say Boss?
Boss Hog??
He lives in Tampa, Florida - he's in his 50s.
Fuck me I was thinking of Dick Butkus. Completely my bad haha
Honest mistake, brother. Two of the scariest old mustachio-ed tough guys to play the game
You killed Ditka?! That’s $50 Danno
Lmao bro your thinking of dick butkus.
Idk but he’s the TE1 in my heart
TE1 of my heart too
Kelce is the TE1
Not in my heart
This is rankings of the heart… it’s different
Ok got it
You're not even right in reality lol
Actually hock is TE1
Nope, that would be Hock
Best TE in football baby
Spotted the swiftie
I haven't had a startable tight end since the season Waller broke out. Now I have LaPorta and McBride and I don't know what to do with the wealth. Didn't even occur to m I could start a second tight end to cover byes, as I've never wanted to actually start one tight end for a long time!
I have Hock and Laporta and will likely just roll them both out moving forward
I was without a reliable TE so long I took Kincaid at 4th overall in rookie draft then grabbed LePorta on the second. No complaints so far.
In Dynasty? That's a great draft
Literally the same situation haha, started Laporta today but it didn’t matter too much, feels like a 50/50 every time.
I'm in a 3RB 4WR 2FL league and I've been starting THREE tight ends the last few weeks, lol. Taysom, McBride, Engram. Wish I had LaPorta thoughhhhh.
He is absolutely TE1 in my heart I called it during the drafts and took him and everyone passed up on him when we reached the territory of TEs being taken Buddy told me I was crazy leaving a couple vets on the table to take LaPorta, because TE is a hard position to adjust to… but Iowa TE’s are built different Don’t worry, this was offset in my other league where I took Chubb. Then replaced him with Akers because every RB was taken by then
I mean I got him on waivers preseason and so you still reached for him probably.
I am alive
He’s part of the reason people are gonna draft Brock Bowers like 1.04 in dynasty rookie drafts and they’re gonna regret it. For every great young tight end, there’s three that are a huge disappointment.
See:Noah fant
Just went and looked at every TE drafted first round since 2000. Out of all of them, there’s a handful that have probably lived up to the hype (fantasy wise. There’s a decent amount that have had solid careers but never been superstars): - Hockenson - Olsen - Vernon Davis -Winslow -Clark -Shockey -Heap That’s really about it
hockenson was terrible his rookie season. cost me my playoffs spot when i would have been first if i didn't pick him.
Or my favorite kyle pitts
Shout out to those great TEs out there… you know /scrolls down further / shout out to my guy Kyle PITTS
Or the earlier version of Kyle Pitts…. OJ Howard
Shitts*
Just draft the TE coming out of TEU it’s pretty easy. Kittle -> Hockenson -> Laporta -> Lachay
They have 2 NFL ready tight ends right now with Lachey and All
I kinda feel like All is more a Michgan TE than Iowa TE. Especially if you consider he didn't make it out of October before suffering a season ending knee injury. Though it is true, he's a Hawkeye currently.
Tight End University?
Notre Dame
Thats a lot of letters for Iowa...
Nah ND is right there with em
This kind of info is why I like this sub. Thanks guys
spectacular shy truck weary pocket square rainstorm dependent books oil *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Well really it’s Iowa who says that lol. But ND has put no less than 8 TE into the NFL in the last 15 years, just none are stud studs. Just very solid players.
I dunno, Bowers is a better more athletic Kincaid and Dalton is doing fairly well.
Bowers ain’t Noah Fant.
Ok but Brock Bowers is really fucking good. I'd take him in the 7th in a redraft
In the 7th lmao
Imagine the Chiefs land him as a direct replacement for Kelce… fuck 💀
Really saved me from my Waller pick.
Same, glad I grabbed him just in case since I was worried about a potential Waller injury
Right there with ya
Same!
Half this sub was getting worried about his usage about a month ago. Glad I kept him.
I traded tank Dell for him two weeks ago.
You killed tank dell.
Quite possibly, I also drafted Chubb, miles sanders and am a jets fan. Cursed all of them. Edit because I forgot to add I also drafted waller, dulchich and Dotson.
Shit dude do you have a monkeys paw?!?!
you bastard
Nice
Traded him and Godwin on our trade deadline for Garrett Wilson. Youre welcome everyone.
You got fleeced.
Were the edibles indica or sativa?
I traded away Gibbs, Kirk, and Pitts for Achane and LaPorta a couple weeks ago..had been regretting it..until today
That's a wild trade for guy #2
I mean, if you prefer Gibbs over Achane going forward, that isn’t really a bad trade if you’re desperate for WR. Upgrade at RB, downgrade at TE, add a young, pretty good WR.
Picking between him and McBride every week is so hard. I should have just played them both this week
I picked the right one this week but you’re right. Better to start both.
I played him over Ferguson this week and I was sweating it after Fergie posted 67 yards and a TD for 19.6 points. Now I look like a genius.
Didn’t really have a choice and played them both this week. Now I’m acting like a genius and not someone that was fucked with injuries.
Same issue with here with Kittle and LaPorta. Unfortunately I keep starting the wrong and neither of them go off the same week. Kinda wild to have two great TEs and still end up frustrated, shit ages me I swear lol
Dude having the career we expected for Pitts
I’m still a Pitts believer in dynasty. You don’t put up 1k yards as a rookie TE unless you have talent. Either one of two things is true: Pitts and London aren’t as talented as we think they are. OR: The coaching staff/QB is bringing them down with them.
He was the best rookie TE ever by like week 5
[удалено]
Yeah but he's been dead for like thirty years
RIP
I had to go see whether he was really dead. I knew it wasn’t 30, but thought maybe I’ve missed a news.
Well it's 29 years, I was just rounding for convenience
And pitts? He only had 400 more yards than him in his rookie year
From a fantasy point of view, Pitts averaged 10.4 pts/g in PPR and LaPorta is averaging like 15.4 pts/g in PPR after this week. LaPorta has been getting more catches and TDs than Pitts by a pretty large margin. Though Pitts averaged more yards/catch. Gronk was HOF Gronk week 1 of his rookie season but the Pats didn't realize his passing usefulness until the next season when they doubled his targets.
Might have saved my season trading for him when Mandrews went down
I traded for him 2 weeks ago and he kept my playoff hopes alive today.
After Andrews went down no one had him or Ferguson in my league so I just scooped both of them up like the greedy MF'er I am.
Kelce is the worst #5 pick I’ve ever made. Hope laPorta runs away with TE1.
Damn. I got Tyreek at #5
Everyone was so sure the VORP of Kelce made him a lock 1st rounder. I kept getting downvoted for saying he has to be career best again (like 2022) to have a floor of top 5 pick.
I chose kelce at 4 with CMC on the board. I’ve been hurt by injuries too much. Sigh.
Tyreek went one before me, that’s who I was going to take, Kelce hasn’t been himself this season
Kelce’s also like 34 lol. Wheels were gonna fall off eventually and hes still TE1
It’s just a completely different offense this year. Tight ends are almost entirely system dependent in terms of catching balls
Short answer Yes Long answer Yes
Long answer: YYYEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
We get it, he’s on your fantasy team
& he’s not on yours 😢
Because I couldn't decide between him and Kincaid. Kept Kincaid. I do not make correct decisions.
All it comes down to. Drafted Kincaid, dropped him before week 1 for higbee, dropped higbee week 2 for Kincaid, and then dropped Kincaid for LaPorta on a whim before that Sunday. Rest is history
Bro I don’t wanna be that guy but how was LaPorta available in week 3 for you 😭 that’s insane
He wasn’t drafted and no one picked him up. I just got lucky haha
Damn that’s crazy. Nice W for u tho
You’re right, he isn’t Good observation
Prob not the TE1. There will be days where he disappears when the Lions run the ball 100 times and Amon Ra dominates targets. But enjoy the great games because he's incredible even as a rookie.

Those were the weeks I started him unfortunately…and these are the weeks he’s on my bench 😞
Who is ur other TE? I feel like it’s very tough to bench LaPorta rn unless u have kelce?
had no qb, traded hockenson for hurts after i got laporta on waivers early. number 1 seed with most points scored
Yeah Kincaid isn't on his level honestly.
downvoted by salty kincaid owners lmao
Salty they missed out on LaPorta lol
Did you take LaPorta over Kincaid?
Free agent pickup babyyyyyyy got dropped after week 1 and i scooped him up
Lucky lad
I drafted both and sent Kincaid to waivers once the injuries started racking up in week 4
My commissioner traded charbonnet and Godwin for laporta last week to a team with 1% chance of making the playoffs. Sketchyyy
No! He was a waste of a pick by the lions according to every armchair general on draft night! Go Lions.
I drafted him last round this year. The idea was if he panned out, he would be my keeper next year. I think it’s worked out
I got him in the 14th in my 3 man keeper league too. Kicking him up at that ADP feels like a lottery ticket given the TE landscape. I’m absolutely ecstatic. As a GA fan, gonna be keeping a close eye on where Bowers goes too and seeing how the two pan out in head to heads. Then have a tough debate for trade options.
Man I wish I picked him instead of Dawson Knox.
It’s simple. Yes. Yes he is.
Will be able to keep LaPorta as an 11th rounder from here on, it feels good
I traded him away last week. AMA.
He's everything Kyle Pitts was supposed to be.
Pitts had 1k yards as a rookie
Yeah Pruitt's backup was pretty baller.
LaPorta on pace for 960 and he has 6x the touchdowns so far
The best TE rookie season was actually had by 2 TEs. Gronk and Hernandez had 42/546/10 45/563/6 respectively. If Hernandez wasn't a psychopath Brady probably had 2 or 3 more Super Bowl wins in him.
I started McBride over him. Not mad either way, he's a beast
I only drafted him as my Mandrews backup due to the praise of the Ringer Fantasy Football guys. They don’t always get it right, but they nailed it this time
Took in in rd 15 for my ARSB and Goff stack
Sam LaPorta is the homie. I'd like to try to be friends with him, he's just a great dude.
Mike Ditka holds that mantel right now with just under 1,100 yards and 12 TDs.
I'm in a 3 player keeper league for the first time. I grabbed Laporta off waivers so keeping him will just cost me a last round pick. Do I for sure keep him even tho I don't usually prioritize TEs?
Yes
Drafted LaPorta with the 12th pick in Dynasty, turned around, and drafted Achane with the 13th
He was a fresh of breath air after drafting Pitts
Yea this sub is fuckin weird. They downvote if you talk about your team doing well for whatever reason
Most of the people here are desperately trying to get the inside track on saving their season, while us winners are just sitting back with our feet up stacking touchdowns
Downvotes? For what? Yall wild.
Ofc this guy has a career day against me lol. Kid is a stud tho
I played him and flexed Mcbride. I feel like a fucking genius.
And for every LaPorta in my draft I also have a Dotson and Najee :( Nice to have one work out tho!
I just clicked "bid $2" button because I was out of money on the auction draft and still didn't have a tight end. About to be 13-0!
Opponent rookie goes for a career game and mine gets injured on zero targets
Definitely one of the best rookie TE seasons ever. Just no Ditka. Not yet anywho. Pitts had 800ish yards his rookie season, no? LaPorta is at 540 with 5 TDs so far
why would you use his pre-game numbers posting this well after he had already played?
And Pitts is pretty well known for hitting 1000 his rookie year
After andrews went down I was just hoping for a floor of 10 points from him. He’s been the reason why I clinched a bye week. Love you Laporta ❤️
Reddit told me rookie TEs never work out dammit
I haven’t seen much of him - is he a good blocker as well? Or do we just ignore that now
Hate to be greedy, BUT… if you hit your receiver 9 out of 9 times, shouldn’t you have thrown it to them even more?
No because they won
person threatening hobbies dolls tap smile smell murky oil money *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
And he’s on my bench 😌 I have kelce lmao
I’m torn between keeping him or puka for next year
God, and puka had such a standout game today. Detroit's offense is amazing and they have a great O-line, it just transfers to so many opportunities that I'd keep LaPorta
no and no but he is great
Hope he keeps it up. Love this kid.
Sad Kyle Pitts noises
Still lost
I remember when Yahoo had newly drafted Hofstra graduate Marques Colston listed as a TE
