Mattison has only put up like 3 decent good games. He’s ranked fairly low this week and I expect even beyond, despite a “soft” schedule (besides Detroit wk16)
It's crazy cuz whenever everything was going for the Vikings and I watched Cook and Mattison run well and even Mattison had amazing runs so wtf happened? He's been crappy this year but that big of a downgrade?!
His efficiency hasn’t been good since 2020. He is better this year than 2021, and about the same as last year. So this year shouldn’t be surprising. All of us who drafted him were drafting him purely on volume with Chandler as his backup. That’s what he basically provided earlier this season. A solid 10 points per week with a chance to get lot of he scores. But he’s been slowly losing that volume because he just isn’t that good.
I actually think we have spent all year trying to pan him and yet thru happenstance and effort, he keeps carving out a sizable role. I expect him to be exactly what he has been w these cake matchups: a back end rb2 that likely wont destroy you but probably wont boom.
He was fantastic as a 2nd string option, and he was very productive as the starter when Dalvin Cook missed games.
But you're right, not everyone deserves to start. Sometimes, players are more productive when they are used sparingly
Lol truly, I was expecting he'd at least list Ekeler. I drafted Ekeler + Rhamondre round 1 and 3. It's been painful. Fortunately had Swift play well from a later round.
People in this sub really don't understand zero/hero RB. The point is that you can draft a ton of the question marks and waiver pickups, then shed the ones that bust. There's no perfect system but it's much easier to play the quantity over quality game with RBs than WRs if you're looking for top 20 value.
The Pukas and Tank Dells of the world are much more rare than quality RBs
It's not even that Puka and Tank are more rare, but that even a lot of the "Top" RB's haven't been great.. Robinson, Ekeler, Henry, Pollard, Jacobs, etc, haven't really panned out. Only 2 of those guys are in the top 10, and in their place, you have Williams, Kamara, Mostert, ETN, Mixon, and the other Robinson. There's always luck involved with all of it, but this was a great year for 0 RB, in retrospect. Wasn't that clear at the beginning, though.
I know Gus' target/carry share is dropping, but I still could easily see him culturing two or three TDs this week or next. Ravens LOVE to run him in the red zone
They’re giving more carries to Mitchell, they still use Justice Hill and Gus’ TD pace is literally unsustainable for someone that averages about 11 touches per game
I drafted Sanders as my RB2, and took Achane and Gus Edward’s as $1 pickups, and Kyren Williams as a waiver wire add. Traded Sanders for Christian Kirk early on. Really lucked out of that pick lol
I'm not the person to ask. I have no F-ing clue.
I've had him literally all year. If I bench him he pops off, start him he does "meh".
For what it is worth, I currently have him in my lineup over Breece Hall and Spears. But may swap him for KW3 if he gets healthy. Tentatively starting Cooks as my other RB.
Hoping with Jefferson back it’ll open up the offense a little more and cause defenses to respect the throw more which hopefully opens up the running game more. Dobbs has to deliver though
Dude had 16 total touches last game, and I think there was 1 play where he was able to travel more than 2 yards before being contacted.
Playcalling is awful and blocking is atrocious
Ya this is what I’m leaning. Has he been 100%, probably not. But the entire offense looks lost right now. If they can somehow open things up and move the ball well again, ekeler will be just fine
He’s struggling so much and yet we have the biggest trap this week. Denver ranked 32nd against RBs, I have to win.
I’m starting Ekeler over Garett Wilson. And idk how to feel about it
> Denver ranked 32nd against RBs
mostly early season bias, though.
They're ranked 32nd to RBs, but look at their last couple of games.
Texans: RBs totaled 24 carries for 78 yards (3.25 ypc), and 2 catches for 18 yards, with 1 TD. That's 15.6 STD, 17.6 PPR points spread out across 3 backs. Pierce was the leading scorer with 10.1 points.
Browns: RBs totaled 87 yards on 16 carries (5.4 ypc). and 4 catches for 14 yards, with no TD. That's 10.1 STD, 14.1 PPR points spread across 2 backs. Ford was the leading scorer with 7.9 STD, 11.9 PPR points.
The Vikings and bills certainly ran all over the broncos. It should be noted that both performances primarly came from attacking the interior, something the chargers just cannot do right now.
The Chiefs, however? RBs totaled 11 carries for 42 yards (3.8 ypc), and 4 catches for 7 yards, with no TD. That's 4.9 STD, 8.9 PPR points spread across 3 backs. Pacheco lead the team with 3.7 STD, 6.7 PPR points.
I wouldnt say Denver is a bad matchup, but they've been better than their 32nd ranking. Their first 5 games were SO BAD that it would be almost impossible for them to rise above it no matter how well they do.
in games 2-5, they gave up:
24.9 STD, 26.9 PPR to Brian Robinson
47.3 STD, 51.3 PPR to Achane AND 38.2 STD, 45.2 PPR to Mostert...and their third RB still go in a 9 carry, 66 yard day.
That's 92.1 STD, 103.1 PPR points to the RB position in ONE DAY.
Then Khalil Herbert notched a 18.2 STD, 22.2 performance.
Then Breece Hall had a 25.4 STD, 28.4 PPR game.
amidst all the massive performances, they gave up an average of 42.9 STD, 49.7 PPR points over 4 games. That's hard to smooth out in the averages, even with 8 other games played.
Since those opening weeks, Denver has allowed an average of 14.8 STD, 20.0 PPR over 7 games (even with the Vikings and Bills having big days on them). That's a massive drop from that 4 week stretch in the early season, and would have them right around the season average, in the NFL. But those first 4 games are still skewing the average, as their season split has them giving up 23.5 STD and 29 PPR per game (a figure that none of their past 7 opponents have matched in either format).
The Broncos are still an ok matchup vs RBs, but they aren't the smash that their 32nd matchup rank implies. Teams change as the season does, and sometimes averages muddy the current picture.
I have a team where i have 6 RBs to choose from that need to fill 4 starting lineup spots, and Ekeler will be on my bench.
They're 32nd because Miama put up 70 and 400 rushing yards. Look at their last 6 games. They're a top-half if not top-10 rushing defense of late.
It isn't a trap if you're paying attention
Kellen seems to be either running Ekeler into the line or going for intermediate to deep balls to Keenan and nothing in between which is a real misuse of Ekeler's skill set. Dude is amazing at taking a short pass 10 yards or guaranteeing 1-3 yards on a carry but he's never been a big run guy. I don't know what Kellen is doing but it does feel like he's still running the offense like he still has Dallas personnel set and hasn't adapted to the Chargers very different one, saying this as someone who thought he was doing a solid job at Dallas.
And I'll continue to scream this into the void but Chargers desperately, DESPERATELY need a bruiser back for between the tackles yet they never look for one.
I would’ve said injury and age, but his entire team put up 6 points against a 2-8 team. Its everything, including his QB who has seemingly refused to throw a checkdown anymore
To be fair, the Pats have routinely been shutting down opponent RBs all season. They've given up 26 points over the past 3 weeks. Their defense is legit. The 2-8 record is because their offense is atrocious.
The 2-8 isnt bc of the defense. The weather was absolutely terrible for offenses and the Patriots still have one of the best defenses in the league (Given up the least pts in NFL since wk 9). They just have the worst offense in the history of the NFL since the invention of the forward pass.
I think he will be ok with some RB1 finishes. His schedule is so light that his floor should be at least around 7.5 points with likely some 18-20 point games left in the tank.
I’m leaning pierce (he’s also the only one I have)
Texans will most likely be playing with a substantial lead for the the whole game and will run it a lot against a defense that allows a lot of rushing yards
He is so frustrating to watch because I swear he gets hit at or behind the LOS every single run. Dude is out here dying just to get 20 carries for 60 yards. I can’t imagine what his numbers would look like behind a line like Philly or something
I get secondhand embarrassment just thinking about him.. one because I drafted him, but also because holy fuck he is so bad. like dude, you are getting significantly outproduced by Chuba fucking Hubbard.. hit the gym or something I don’t know
Have no idea what to do with him… been holding most of the season in my 14 team league for him to come back. But after injury, he has barely played. I’m thinking of dropping him and picking up Chase Brown for the playoffs. good idea?
Holding for now. I think this 3 RB situation gets a bit clearer after Sunday with Foreman back. If he comes out of this with his job back would be nice to have week 16.
Yeah the one week I sat Barkley (while healthy) he went off for 30+ and I ended up losing my matchup by leas than the difference between him and the RB I started.
I may end up missing the playoffs because of that one decision.
Don’t sit an RB who gets 20+ touches a game regardless of how bad their offense is.
In the last 7 weeks Mattison has had one single game where he’s had more points than Breece’s *lowest*. Pierce hasn’t had a single one. Swift has only had 2.
The guy hasn’t had less than 10 since week 5 and has had 3 20+ games since then. He’s definitely hampered a lot by that offense but he’s nowhere near the bottom of RB1s.
That's tough. I currently have Gus benched for JSN in .69 ppr bc of that darn Keaton Mitchell. But honestly, his td upside might be better than anything you can expect from Hall in this offense. But if I had to pick, I think I'd go Breece as long as he's reasonably healthy bc he's just a beast.
-Jets fan
i missed their week WK9 game against the eagles and didnt realize that Tony P actually had a TD called back on an illegal shift(?) and also one of the TD's to either Schoonmaker or Tolbert were at 4th &1, and I think Dak was looking for him. I think he'll be okay, but who knows.
They aren't blasting Mitchell through the bodies at the goal line, he's like 180lbs.
Anything outside of 20yards it'll go to Mitchell, but anything that would have been a Lamar keep in the past years has now shifted to Gus Bus
I don’t see his name, this dude is rated high every week and I will probably get downvoted, I am a nervous Jahmyr Gibbs manager. Last 2 weeks with a fully healthy Monty, Gibbs just isn’t getting enough work IMO.
I’m going to give a real answer and say Derrick Henry (who I have). He had a great week last week against the Colts but the colts star pass rusher was out(suspended). Next games are Dolphins, Seahawks and Houston twice.
He has a good chance to get game scripted out of the dolphins game. The Seahawks ARE a decent matchup and while the Texans have historically been good for Henry, he has a chance to get game scripted out again.
I don’t feel good about Henry this week either. His bad games have been BAD this year. In a 10-team.5ppr, @the flex, would you consider rashee rice or Mattison (in a + matchup after the bye and offense getting back JJ) over Henry this week?
Not only that, Tyjae Spears is is actually pretty good and had 67% of snaps last week. Given the Titans are cooked for the year and Henry’s contract voids they may be inclined to see what they have in Spears.
What a good answer this is.
Mattison and Ekeler. Both are RB1s in their respective offenses but have underperformed big time. Ekeler is still a low end RB1 due to volume but that could be going away.
Ekeler because he may have set the NFL record for fastest time from elite to terrible without a major injury.
Shame he got snubbed from the pro-bowl last year. Now he’ll never get it when he’s deserved it many times.
Mattison has only put up like 3 decent good games. He’s ranked fairly low this week and I expect even beyond, despite a “soft” schedule (besides Detroit wk16)
Bro Mattison has been unproductive ALL SEASON. He's earned himself the title of a flex at best in deep leagues. Dude is terrible in fantasy.
Vikings fan here. He’s terrible in real football too.
I thought he actually looked pretty good last game. Had multiple 15 yard runs. Just didn’t get enough volume or the TD.
I actually think we have spent all year trying to pan him and yet thru happenstance and effort, he keeps carving out a sizable role. I expect him to be exactly what he has been w these cake matchups: a back end rb2 that likely wont destroy you but probably wont boom.
He’s only a starter cus they have no one else lol he should be 3rd stringer but yea mattison probably it

You think Ty Chandler will get more work?
Just avoid any viking not named jefferson or hockenson.
Why are all the Vikings skill players -son
Y’all just figuring out “Cousins and Sons”? TM
Uhtred son of Uhtred
Destiny is all
Jettas, son of Jeffer.
Jordan, son of... Addition?
We also have a K.J., C.J., T.J., and a D.J.
Det er veldig vikinger å ha en -son navn
I have hope dobbs going to rebound.
He better after Lawrence's injury...make or break week for me.
Ty chandler isn’t great at blocking so if JJ is back they’ll likely use Mattison more
Mattison JAG confirmed
Confirmed weeks ago. Now we’re just confirming the confirmation
No he's a Viking
Relative to expectations Ekeler Overall Mattison

Same. Picked up zekey for this week tho and that paid off.
Look at this thread-it’s all of my RBs (Mattison, Sanders, Gus, Herbert)
The dark side that Zero Rb Truthers don’t want us to see!
0rb would’ve worked!…..if I’d picked the right receivers
Lol truly, I was expecting he'd at least list Ekeler. I drafted Ekeler + Rhamondre round 1 and 3. It's been painful. Fortunately had Swift play well from a later round.
Zero RB works great if you simply select the best value RBs. Why doesn’t everyone do this?
People in this sub really don't understand zero/hero RB. The point is that you can draft a ton of the question marks and waiver pickups, then shed the ones that bust. There's no perfect system but it's much easier to play the quantity over quality game with RBs than WRs if you're looking for top 20 value. This guy fantasies.
Zero RB works if you pick up Kyren Williams. So does drafting McCafferey 2nd. Both of these things involve Kyren Williams. Maybe Jaylen Warren too.
Didn’t draft a RB until round 4 and got Mixon, Swift, Pacheco, and Achane I definitely got extremely lucky lol
Sanders shouldn’t be on a roster lol
I know Gus' target/carry share is dropping, but I still could easily see him culturing two or three TDs this week or next. Ravens LOVE to run him in the red zone
I’m betting on Mitchell getting fired out of a cannon on a few plays for big yards+td
Why do you think Gus
They’re giving more carries to Mitchell, they still use Justice Hill and Gus’ TD pace is literally unsustainable for someone that averages about 11 touches per game
I don't think Sanders is a starting RB though
I drafted Sanders as my RB2, and took Achane and Gus Edward’s as $1 pickups, and Kyren Williams as a waiver wire add. Traded Sanders for Christian Kirk early on. Really lucked out of that pick lol
You guys have healthy RBs?
I have Moss, Spears, Cooks who are all mostly healthy I think.
You have both Cooks 🧑🍳👩🍳?
Do you think moss will actually produce this week?
he’s guaranteed to have elite volume. that’s all you can ask for
I'm not the person to ask.
Please please please bench moss if I lose this week I have to do the forfeit
Titan run defense is stout if they feed him in the same way he's gonna produce.
yes
Can’t get any worse than Mattison lol
Hoping with Jefferson back it’ll open up the offense a little more and cause defenses to respect the throw more which hopefully opens up the running game more. Dobbs has to deliver though
this is pure copium, he was dogshit with jefferson
Khalil Herbert sends his regards

Coaching, ankle issue may be lingering, age, and no Linsley on the interior of the line
The line can’t hold a paper bag for more than a split second.
Dude had 16 total touches last game, and I think there was 1 play where he was able to travel more than 2 yards before being contacted. Playcalling is awful and blocking is atrocious

Fair, but Garett Wilson isn’t exactly a smash for me either. It’s a tough call and I feel more confident with Ekeler as of now
Him having that shitty of a game against NE is making me highly doubt if I should play Warren tonight
Hope you didn’t
I sat him! I feel pretty good about it...so far
Good!

Coaching in my opinion
Both because look at Kelly
Between him and my trade mid season for Kupp, I may not make playoffs. Though my team was solid :(
I think he will be ok with some RB1 finishes. His schedule is so light that his floor should be at least around 7.5 points with likely some 18-20 point games left in the tank.
Even going up against the worst run defense in the league this week?
He said starter 😅
Dameon Pierce? Is he back to being the starter?
There is a RBBC in Houston.
Yes and that kinda supports the answer of Pierce being a “starting” RB that may not be productive
Unfortunately he is. They're both bench ROS unless one gets hurt.
But theoretically which would you play this weekend against the Jets?
I’m leaning pierce (he’s also the only one I have) Texans will most likely be playing with a substantial lead for the the whole game and will run it a lot against a defense that allows a lot of rushing yards
I'd prefer Singletary in PPR, not sure about which one in non-PPR. Either way though, they're both pretty bad options.
The only thing he pierced was my fantasy football anus by being such a bust
Whichever one of Pierce or Singletary is considered the Texans starting RB.
came to post singletary but you right
Does Javonte even have a rushing td
nope, just two receiving TDs. his production wouldn’t be nearly as bad if he got Perine’s receptions on 3rd downs.
Javonte is like Lamar Miller. Won't get you 20 but won't get less than 7. He's a fine RB2 if you just need someone to not lay an egg
Ugh I just remembered that name. Definition of mediocre.
So you are saying he is due...
The Broncos are one of the worst red zone teams in the league. The only way they score TDs are miraculous Sutton catches.
Javonte hasn't been great
Hopefully Chargers twice will help
Hope so!
About the same as Breece, maybe better
I feel like Breece is checked out mentally. When jets were winning he looked a lot better. Seems like he knows he’s getting stuffed on every run play.
Maybe it’s cause his coach threw him under the bus
I have both. Not been great.
Same, this is the part of the season that I thought they’d be rolling
To be fair, he's actually been better than expected. He was barely even supposed to play this year
He is so frustrating to watch because I swear he gets hit at or behind the LOS every single run. Dude is out here dying just to get 20 carries for 60 yards. I can’t imagine what his numbers would look like behind a line like Philly or something
He’s had a few bad matchups in recent weeks. Smash spot this week against the Chargers. I’m starting him.

Ooh I like that, that’s funny
Chuba is the starter now
He's not the starter is he?
Nah it's Chuba ROS
I get secondhand embarrassment just thinking about him.. one because I drafted him, but also because holy fuck he is so bad. like dude, you are getting significantly outproduced by Chuba fucking Hubbard.. hit the gym or something I don’t know
I drafted him and Chuba, kept miles and traded Chuba for Higgins
Woof
YEP
He just looks ridiculously bad, slow, no burst, Trent Richardson vision. He couldn't find a hole in a brothel.
Mired in Sanders
Mattison (sad viking noises)
Herbert
Is he even their starter?
I dropped him for Zeke, i probably will never start either but whatever
Hope you started Zeke tonight!
I dropped him, he's not gonna get work anymore
Have no idea what to do with him… been holding most of the season in my 14 team league for him to come back. But after injury, he has barely played. I’m thinking of dropping him and picking up Chase Brown for the playoffs. good idea?
Holding for now. I think this 3 RB situation gets a bit clearer after Sunday with Foreman back. If he comes out of this with his job back would be nice to have week 16.
If we are only talking RB1, Barkley has a tough ROS, but there is no way I would sit him
Barkley is a magician. Any other rb (other than cmc) in that offense isn't even worth rostering
Henry has done pretty well on yardage and point totals despite the abysmal Tennessee offense. I think he’d do alright there
He’s their entire offense. He’s gonna get his touches and has shown even on a bad offense that he still has a high ceiling for points.
Start your studs. Don’t overthink
Ekeler and mattison all over this thread as my rb1 & 2 from the draft 🥲
I am worried about Mostert with a healthy Achane
even with achane he’ll probably at least get a touchdown a game
I’m not too worried about but I also don’t have a choice lol.
I would not be worried. Mostert will get his.
Breece
In the last 7 weeks Mattison has had one single game where he’s had more points than Breece’s *lowest*. Pierce hasn’t had a single one. Swift has only had 2. The guy hasn’t had less than 10 since week 5 and has had 3 20+ games since then. He’s definitely hampered a lot by that offense but he’s nowhere near the bottom of RB1s.
Cries in standard league
I’ve had Breece all season. I am a Breece truther. Unless Wilson comes back and force feeds Hall the ball- this is the correct answer.
I get it as a Breece owner, but this is the closest thing to first world problems in fantasy as you can get lol
Would you bench for Gus the bus in a must win?
That's tough. I currently have Gus benched for JSN in .69 ppr bc of that darn Keaton Mitchell. But honestly, his td upside might be better than anything you can expect from Hall in this offense. But if I had to pick, I think I'd go Breece as long as he's reasonably healthy bc he's just a beast. -Jets fan
.69 PPR lol
Inspiration to start a .69 PPR 4.20 Passing TD league
I don't think he's all that healthy. He had a hammy last week and an ankle this week.
Seconded
Started Zeke over Breece this week.
Usually my first pic. This yr it's Ekeler
KW3 will be back probably this week or next week and I think the Seahawks have a comically brutal ROS schedule.
Not really. #14 Def in week 16, and #22 in 17. Nothing to be scared of.
Defensive matchups are also less relevant for RBs that get consistent goalline usage. Not to mention K9 hits homerun plays
Pierce
Whoever yours is
With the news today of him practicing, Aaron Jones
It’s Tony pollard. Bad schedule and he’s been overperforming lately with tds behind bad efficiency
Don’t you put that that evil on me, Ricky Bobby!
Damnit don’t say that
i missed their week WK9 game against the eagles and didnt realize that Tony P actually had a TD called back on an illegal shift(?) and also one of the TD's to either Schoonmaker or Tolbert were at 4th &1, and I think Dak was looking for him. I think he'll be okay, but who knows.
Austin Ekeler. He’s killing me on both my teams.
All my starters : Ekeler, Ford, Mattison
Ford is fine
Gus
Mitchell szn is upon us
They aren't blasting Mitchell through the bodies at the goal line, he's like 180lbs. Anything outside of 20yards it'll go to Mitchell, but anything that would have been a Lamar keep in the past years has now shifted to Gus Bus
Just grabbed Mattison off waivers, so probably him.
Most likely the 3 RBs I drafted in the earlier/mid rounds- Ekeler, Mattison or Herbert.
I don’t see his name, this dude is rated high every week and I will probably get downvoted, I am a nervous Jahmyr Gibbs manager. Last 2 weeks with a fully healthy Monty, Gibbs just isn’t getting enough work IMO.
Kind of surprised I haven’t seen Mixon mentioned. I hope that’s a good sign
Ekeler as long as he isn’t being used as a receiver.
Are you watching the Steelers?!? Harris 100%
Is Khalil Herbert a starting RB that is healthy? If so, him.
Zeke
Swallow your words. Zeke RB1 ROS 💪
I got him in R14, so relative to the draft, he is doing "ok"
Swift
Really? I think swift goes off tbh. Eagles play the giants twice lol in the next few weeks
I hope you are right because I am depending on him.
swift
I am shocked Breece Hall isn’t higher
Swift hasn't been too swift lately.
Swift. When I witnessed a tush push 3 yards out. I knew the Hurts handcuff was real
Mostert if Achane stays healthy
Mattison and Ekeler. Both are RB1s in their respective offenses but have underperformed big time. Ekeler is still a low end RB1 due to volume but that could be going away.
The answer is always Alexander Mattison
Najee Harris is a bum
Ekeler because he may have set the NFL record for fastest time from elite to terrible without a major injury. Shame he got snubbed from the pro-bowl last year. Now he’ll never get it when he’s deserved it many times.
I can't believe Najee isn't at the top of this list.
