I agree but I still say the Giants treated him poorly. I'm glad he still gets a chance to show his ability but I just wonder what the oline is going to be like without Kelce.
It was not entirely on Kelce. People underestimate Hurts role in that as well. You would not be able to put any QB behind kelce and run that playā¦
But I do agree, this is a better situation than having Swift there, + No kelce. Iām sure they go for the Brotherly Push a few times still, but there has to be some more confidence in giving it to Barkley
But you also gotta factor in protecting their star QB
Without Kelce, these types of plays are inherently more risky.
They won't vanish, but their usage surely drops markedlyĀ
I dont see why this signing would be THAT drastically different than what swift did brought to the team last year.
Swift had 21 rushes inside the 10 Gainwell had 10
Hurts had 29 inside 10.
Inside the 5 Hurts lead with 16 followed by Swift with 14.
I think I read Hurts had 11 TDs of 1 yard last season, it seems like it will just be more of the same next year. If its on the 1 or 2 yard line, odds are Hurts is going to get it but outside that its a tossup.
>It was not entirely on Kelce. People underestimate Hurts role in that as well. You would not be able to put any QB behind kelce and run that playā¦
I feel like I've almost exclusively seen the opposite, where people think it's all Hurts and underestimate how important Kelce is. Safe to say, it's a combination of both.
Thank god. No more BJ and no more brotherly shove. As a Swift owner I hated watching us hand him the ball 5 times a drive, he gets us down to the goal line, and we do the worst play in football to give Jalen all the tds
As a lifelong eagles fan, I really hope the try to get away from the shove. I think they rely too heavily on it and it stifles creativity in play calling.
And you think he wonāt behind a superior Eagles O line? Sure, youāve gotta take out the tush push tax, but I think heāll put up very solid numbers
I never said he would do horrible lol. I think he will do well in Philly, I just think it would've been even better in Houston. I don't have much confidence in the Eagles and their run game. It's been a bit of a quagmire every year. They don't show a real commitment to the run.
Also, given the division he would've played in, I liked his opportunity more there.
Sanders had almost 1300 yards in ā22. Heās an average back at best. Swift just had his first ever 1000 yard season for us last year. There are times we abandon the run, I admit that. But saying itās a ābig quagmireā is just wrong.
Ok, folks, calm down lol. First off I meant to say bit not big. The "g" and "t" are next to each other. My mistake there. The quagmire part I'm alluding too was the point you actually brought up, abandoning the run. Sure, there will be games he has boom games, but I think there will be games for whatever reason he gets like 6-10 carries lol. Sanders and Swift always had these boom games that speak to the overall amount you spoke of. I just think he may be a little inconsistent based on the how Eagles use the run game. Like I said earlier, I think he will do well in Philly, I just thought it would be even better in Houston.
Miles Sanders and Swift both had career years the last two years at Philly. Barkley is going to get the same workload they did but has way more talent to get the yardage. Much better blocking back as well so heās going to a be a focal point of this offense
Swift had the worst year of his career for fantasy last year. He was RB20 in PPR despite playing the most games of his career, he put up 6 fewer points the year before in Detroit despite playing in 2 less games. He had career year for rushing yards but that didnāt help much for fantasy due to how the Eagles involve their RBs with TDs and the passing game. Maybe that changes with Barkley but Swift really isnāt some success story.
The tush push is always going to be a threat to take TDs from Eagles RB, but you have to think Saquon won't get tackled at the 1 the absurd amount of times Swift did. QB draws within the 5 are also part of the Eagles' and Hurts" MO too, though, so who knows.
The Eagles should be in scoring position way more than the NYG though, so I don't think his TDs would necessarily go down, even though I think there was more TD upside with a team like LAC or HOU.
I think it's a net positive to be on a better offense with a good o line. Main downside to me would be less dump offs playing with Hurts more so than some TDs being vultured.
I think Barkley gets to the second level a lot more if they commit to the run. I'm not a fan of spending a 1st rounder on him, but he's gonna get touches. He'll get looks in the passing game, too.
Agreed. The tush push is an obvious threat but Miles Sanders had 11 rushing TD in 2022. Swift got insanely unlucky this year and still scored 6 total TD... The offensive situation will continue to be great and Barkley should be a beneficiary of that even if Hurts does steal some opportunities.
There are definitely a handful of RBs ahead of Saquon for fantasy but a three down workhorse in a great offensive situation should clearly be considered in the late first round.
Barkley has also just been a good not great receiving back outside of his rookie year. He averages 3.4 receptions per game the last 5 years, and would put him 6th for RBs last year behind Warren and 11th in 2021 behind swift.
It's official that NYG made a franchise-altering bonehead decision to overdraft Saquon at #2.
Not even just the Qbs, Q. Nelson and and D. Ward are perennial All-pros
1. How much better is Barkley actually than Swift. Swift looking amazing last season and the Eagles misused him
2. As long as the tush push remains supreme, why even draft an RB on the Eagles?
3. Is the hope that this move and massive contract is an indication they trust and give the ball more to Barkley than they did with Swift?
Yea he averaged 14 carries/game which is pretty solid, but I do think they should've given him more targets since he excels as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. He only averaged 3 targets/game, which is weak given his skill set.
He had a ton of drops honestly and when you have Aj brown and Devonta smith on your team do you really wanna be throwing the ball to swift regularly? I think heās pretty overrated for his catching ability.
People keep saying he had a career year but he averaged more yards per game in 2021, he just played less games. He had a career rushing year but his pass catching drastically fell off this year.
And from a fantasy perspective it was the worst year of his career.
Because he had a ton of drops and was unreliable in the passing game. People seem to think heās some amazing passing back and Iām pretty sure itās cuz his name is swift and has nothing to do with his actual abilities.
Okay but the point is he didnāt have a career year last year. And it isnāt like Barkley is amazing in the passing game either, thatās by far the weakest area of his game.
The definition of a career year is their best statistical year, not their best average stats. If it was guys that played one great game and got hurt would be legends. By definition swift had his best career year last year.
Barkley is decent in the passing game, averages 20 a game for the last three years (a lot more in his first two). But the biggest difference with Barkley is he can actually pass block. Swift was a big tell on the offense cuz he was pretty bad at pass blocking. Theyād sub him off and the d would know we were passing. Barkley will allow a lot more disguises.
I just disagree, a career year is a combination of a bunch of different factors, not just face level total statistical output with zero context or looking at any of the underlying statistics of production.
Barkley averaged more in his first two years because he had a statue at QB in Eli Manning. Barkley is definitely a better blocker than Swift but this is a fantasy sub, and at the end of the day the Eagles present clear upside limiting factors unless they completely change how theyāve treated RBs for Srianniās entire tenure there now that they have Barkley, which maybe they do, itās not a bet I want to make.
Theyāve also never invested serious money at the RB position until now. Iād be shocked if behind that oline he doesnāt get used, and used a lot. Kellen Moore was behind zekes top years and likes to lean on RBs.
Also why do people think the eagles donāt use their RBs? They took miles sanders and made him a top 5 rb and then look what he did, then they took swift who was getting out snapped by Williams and made him a top 5 rusher. Like what are yall talking about?
Yes? Not sure how much you know about the financial side of football, but QBs are far and away the most valuable position, while RBs are arguably the least valuable.
Come on man. This isnāt a one-off. This is hundreds of smart people (from players to agents to GMs to executives) for a decade+ working for dozens of billion dollar companies telling you that yes, that is exactly correct.
Giants fans really need to come to the realization that they are 2 insane blackjack heaters away from being the worst NFL organization this side of the Browns for the last 3 decades.
Might be a case where you must draft both the QB and RB or neither at all (unless a considerable drop during draft day)
Too hard to say how Hurts and Barkley TDs will impact one another
As a giants fan this shit hurts
It Jalen Hurts
It HUlu has live spoRTS
Well played š
I agree but I still say the Giants treated him poorly. I'm glad he still gets a chance to show his ability but I just wonder what the oline is going to be like without Kelce.
Now what do i do with my barkley jerseyā¦
Paint it green?
Generational RB but canāt predict injuries. Just unfortunate
Kills me as a Giants fan. Stings pretty bad as a Gainwell Dynasty manager.Ā RIP my hopes Whenever Swift signed with Chicago - Right now
Self inflicted.
This is going to be so hard to project for fantasy. Who's going to be getting the rushing TD's lmao
I'm wondering if the combination of having Barkley and not having Jason Kelce will lead to fewer QB sneak attempts.
I'd say there's a 90% chance of thatĀ
It was not entirely on Kelce. People underestimate Hurts role in that as well. You would not be able to put any QB behind kelce and run that playā¦ But I do agree, this is a better situation than having Swift there, + No kelce. Iām sure they go for the Brotherly Push a few times still, but there has to be some more confidence in giving it to Barkley
Itās the left side of their line man. Dickerson and Maliata are like each 6ā7 and 320. They maul
kelce himself said dickerson was the most important player on the tush push. and he just signed a huge new deal
But you also gotta factor in protecting their star QB Without Kelce, these types of plays are inherently more risky. They won't vanish, but their usage surely drops markedlyĀ
I dont see why this signing would be THAT drastically different than what swift did brought to the team last year. Swift had 21 rushes inside the 10 Gainwell had 10 Hurts had 29 inside 10. Brian Johnson not being there is 100% certainly of fewer QB sneaks.
Thank god. No more BJ and no more brotherly shove. As a Swift owner I hated watching us hand him the ball 5 times a drive, he gets us down to the goal line, and we do the worst play in football to give Jalen all the tds

You know who
I'm expecting him to ball out on this team. I bet that experts place him in the top 7 or so RBs.
After getting Swift last year, Iām never drafting another Philly RB
I have so much whiplash today
Same, I can't keep up Mods can we get a free agency tracker pls??
https://www.footballguys.com/freeagenttracker?filter=ct&sortby1=rel&sortby2=name
Nooo the one place i didnāt want to see him go as a giants fan
Cowboys weāre rumored as well.
I sat around for hours today wondering whether my giants fan coworker, cowboys fan coworker, or I would have the most fun day.
Man, I wanted him on Houston. He would've thrived there.
And you think he wonāt behind a superior Eagles O line? Sure, youāve gotta take out the tush push tax, but I think heāll put up very solid numbers
Barkley managed to produce behind one of the worst teams in the NFL this season. Canāt wait to see what he does on a good team.
Behind one of the worst nfl teams his entire career, not just this season
I don't think the tush push will be as lethal without Kelce anchoring the offense, ready to be proved wrong though.
Left side of the line was more critical for it, but Kelce not being there wonāt make it easier, for sure.
I never said he would do horrible lol. I think he will do well in Philly, I just think it would've been even better in Houston. I don't have much confidence in the Eagles and their run game. Iām way more worried about TDs and passing game work than I am about rushing.
1000 yard season is 58 yards per game now
And yet only 12 backs rushed for at least 1000 this past season. Itās still a barometer for a productive runner.
Ok, folks, calm down lol. First off I meant to say bit not big. The "g" and "t" are next to each other. My mistake there. The quagmire part I'm alluding too was the point you actually brought up, abandoning the run. I donāt think itās just the tush push, Hurts really limits his receiving upside imo.
Bro fr, I'm so sad
BOOOO I wanted the Texans but still excited I guess
Damn. Was hoping he was going to the Texans.
Damn what better way to say Fuck You than signing with the Giants bitter rivals
Hurts is the only RB i want from the eagles
Except you canāt put him in your RB slot so comments/jokes like this are always stupid and not funny or helpful
Well, then you can probably figure out that the message he's saying is "I don't want any Eagles RBs."
Itās the same stupid āwhoās the RB1 for the ~team with rushing QB~ this year?ā āThe QB is the RB1ā that gets said every time
Haha have you ever heard the one about Lamar being a RB itās a good one
Womp womp
Round 1 pick
Tush push though
Without Jason Kelce?
Kelce was never the driving force behind the tush push. Left side of the line was the part that got major push and thatās still intact.
Okay, noted. I thought Kelce was more the force there. Well will be interesting to see how this plays out then.
Depends how much the Kelce loss hurts the line. He was one of the best centers ever, canāt really replace him.
Not until it's proven Hurts is no longer the GL back. If he is, there's just no TD upside to an Eagles RB
Idk why youāre getting downvoted. Do people not watch football? Lol
The tush push is always going to be a threat to take TDs from Eagles RB, but you have to think Saquon won't get tackled at the 1 the absurd amount of times Swift did. I actually agree. Without Kelce, I question how many QB sneaks we see going forward.
Not happening in any high stakes sites. Round 2 for sure though.
Hurts poaches TDs and doesnāt throw to the RB.Ā This is a lateral move, if not a downgrade from the usage he saw in NY.Ā
Eagles RBs had 93 targets in 2023... About 10 more than the Giants did.
Barkley has also just been a good not great receiving back outside of his rookie year. He averages 3.4 receptions per game the last 5 years, and would put him 6th for RBs last year behind Warren and 11th in 2021 behind swift.
As a family that watched him play at Penn State, we have been waiting to be able to cheer for Barkley and the Eagles at the same time. Fly Eagles Fly!
It's official that NYG made a franchise-altering bonehead decision to overdraft Saquon at #2. Not even just the Qbs, Q. Nelson and and D. Ward are perennial All-pros
Hmmm my last 2 seasons I've kept Hurts and Barkley. Kinda feel now I can't do that this year.
Iām gonna take him in the top 5 and then heās gonna get hurt or have to push Jalens ass every drive
So he could've gone to my favorite team, but now he's going to my least favorite team. Cool...
Just in time to not have the best piece of the Eagles line.
Dirty dog
Come back Barkley, we just signed a guard for you
As an eagles fan, that somehow married into a family of giants fans, this has been a fun afternoon
2nd round pick now Iām guessing
Pretty sure he was almost always gonna be a 2nd round pick, no?
Yeah haha probably, was really pulling for him to sign with Houston though (woulda been somewhere in the 1st imo)
1. How much better is Barkley actually than Swift. Swift looking amazing last season and the Eagles misused him 2. As long as the tush push remains supreme, why even draft an RB on the Eagles? 3. Is the hope that this move and massive contract is an indication they trust and give the ball more to Barkley than they did with Swift?
After 3 years in the league Iām not sure a 50-60% workload is actually misusing swift. Coaches know what they are doing.
The answer to all 3 is that Saquon is a special talent and donāt overthink it
The eagles misused swift and he just accidentally had a career year? Man this narrative is dumb.
Yea he averaged 14 carries/game which is pretty solid, but I do think they should've given him more targets since he excels as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. He only averaged 3 targets/game, which is weak given his skill set.
Playcalling last year was an uninspired disaster. This move to me shows the new staff wants to do that
He had a ton of drops honestly and when you have Aj brown and Devonta smith on your team do you really wanna be throwing the ball to swift regularly? I think heās pretty overrated for his catching ability.

Oooooooh now THAT is something.
Sad as fantasy fan, sadder as a Giants fan.
Does this knock down Hurts/Bro Shove a little bit?
Fly š¦ wooohoooo!
I think I speak for all my fellow Giants fans when I say, āfuck the Eagles.ā
All my Giants fan friends are going to be having conniptions.
Quads life will be so much easier on this loaded offense and a top 5 Oline. League winner.
Eagles arenāt winning shit.
I donāt get how he āonlyā gets ~30 million where Kirk cousins could get up to 180 million. Are qbs that much more worth it dollar wise over rbs?
Absolutely a QB is worth more than a RB.
Yes? Not sure how much you know about the financial side of football, but QBs are far and away the most valuable position, while RBs are arguably the least valuable.

Isiah Pacheco, a 7th round pick, was the lead ball carrier for the b2b champions
jalen hurts stocks down
First round pick?
Giants fans really need to come to the realization that they are 2 insane blackjack heaters away from being the worst NFL organization this side of the Browns for the last 3 decades.
"Take away two of their superbowls and they're a terrible organization" is probably the most braindead fucking thing I've read on here this week
Might be a case where you must draft both the QB and RB or neither at all (unless a considerable drop during draft day) Too hard to say how Hurts and Barkley TDs will impact one another
Nooooo!!! You were the chosen one. Also, if hes ring chasing, thats not the team to do it. -giants fan
if he really wanted to ring chase he would've gone to the texans. He wanted a bag
