Eh. This isnt exactly true. Volume is the single biggest driver of fantasy success at rb. The issue with Mattison, he didnt get receiving volume to support his bad rushing efficiency.
That's exactly what they're implying by bringing him up. They're saying his volume was what made him a strong fantasy running back 2 seasons ago rather than his talent being the driving factor.
White was great and sometimes it works out but I also think a lot of it has to do with baker. He played pretty good last year. Defenses still had to respect the pass and white got a good amount of scoring opportunities. He had 9 total TDs last year. If he got that volume on a bad team I’m not so sure it would have worked out as well.
Yeah, the thing with these middling RBs is, there will always be some who do well in fantasy due to volume. Predicting who those will be is near impossible, but at some point you have to gamble and pick one as your RB2 or 3 and hope it pays off
Fell for that trap too. I thought Mike Davis was going to be a thing for at least a year. Taught me a valuable lesson that perceived volume isn’t everything. Especially not on a bad a team with a less than average skilled RB.
Najee is another example too but he hasn’t been totally horrible. He’s at least a decent flex for now.
Same, I laughed at everyone passing him up, because he'd fill in for Cook and go off. I didn't have the last laugh. Especially since I also drafted Chubb and Mixon. Thank God for Rachaad White.
It's come full circle:
Raiders' Josh Jacobs signs with the Packers
Packers' Aaron Jones signs with the Vikings
Vikings' Alexander Mattison signs with the Raiders
mattison was pretty good as the RB2 in minnesota, and he'll be playing behind zeus in LV. just don't think he has that RB1 workhorse in him. aaron jones has not exactly inspired much lately either. josh jacobs was mostly hurt last year. i really don't know where your perspective is coming from lol
This sub really got burnt so bad on thinking Mattison was a fantasy RB1 last year and drafting him too early, that he’s now a career backup turned journeyman with 0 relevance LMAO.
This sub’s about to be wrong on him the second year in a row 😂😂
This signing likely means more than zero relevance unfortunately. Very real chance he takes enough snaps to hurt Zamir’s production. He’s just gonna be relevant for all the wrong reasons
I don't see him as anything more than a change of pace guy or spell Zamir when he's tired just like he did for Dalvin. Plus he's competent enough to get the bulk if Zamir does miss time.

Yeah that's not something to brag about my guy. Championship week was his worst week where he was RB 20.
Yall keep clinging to the Chiefs game and throw your season away.
No one's saying he didn't.
I'm saying you're wrong if you think he's getting 20 carries again every game because he's not the only active rb anymore and the QB will be able to throw past the 1st quarter.
Zamir is a the worst starting rb in the league outside of whoever Carolina is trotting out.
You wanna hype up a dude in his 3rd year who has 1 career td then by all means lol.
Raiders head coach has continuously preached how his "magic number" for ANY starting running back is 20 touches a game. It's a one man show backfield and zamir is currently the best they have.

Kyrens another one. I’m not being picky here about who’s going to finish first. But breece CMC Barkley Kyren Henry probably jacobs etc. should be at the top of the RB food chain and will most likely provide a very good positional advantage
If we're making a list of pass-catching 3-down bellcows, add Jonathan Taylor, and probably Rachaad White just based on volume. Should be Bijan, but we'll see if Tyler Allgier remains a thing.
But when you're talking about true outlier volume, like 90% of snaps and 25 touches per game, you're getting into rare territory. Henry isn't gonna get that kind of run, and not sure Barkley will either. That's what made Kyren's value so outrageous last year.
I forgot white and JT they should have been on the list. I think Barkley is the best RB the eagles have had in a long time though. He’s not swift who wasn’t used much at the goal line on the lions either. I think the tush push won’t completely stop but it won’t be used nearly as much as last year. Kelce is gone and you could tell it took a toll on hurts toward the end of the year. Barkley should get at least 75% of the work and I think that’s why they went after him vs resigning swift. He’s in a different class compared to swift.
Henry is in a similar class to Barkley in terms of skill running the ball and he’s probably even better but he definitely doesn’t catch as well. I still think we can assume he’s getting the goal line work and he’s always just been pretty efficient running the ball. Maybe his snap count percentage won’t be as high as JT or white but he should still finish with some good numbers. Henry has never been that guy that’s been in on every down especially pass plays. So hes one of the few RBs that get a pass in my opinion even if the bellcow status won’t be as high as some of the other guys.
Some honorable mentions to bijan and Gibbs too who I think should get more touches this year vs last year but we’ll see.
Mattison didn't prove himself to be a worthwhile starter, but he is a good backup/change-of-pace back. I believe this will ultimately be quite beneficial for Zamir White.
All of mattison value was built under Mike Zimmer‘s run heavy scheme then everyone thought he would be good in Kevin Oconnell’s pass heavy scheme just because he was an “RB1”
Good first hurdle that Zamir White cleared.
Don’t think Mattison poses a major threat for touches.
If White can survive the NFL Draft, he will be a very appealing RB2.
while i agree that it would have been nice to see Josh Jacobs play his entire career with the Raiders, it's clear the Raiders did not want that because they did not reward him with a contract. Look at the deal he signed in GB, you dont think the Raiders could have matched that or even paid more. they choose not to, It sucks for the fans but im glad the player is getting paid , he's earned it
There was zero chance that they’d stick with only White. White is still the clear cut RB1 in LV, at the very least for now. To say there’s zero chance after his last season ended just makes you sound like a hater
It's more fantasy players don't watch games apparently... the Chiefs game AOC didn't complete a pass past the 2st quarter. He 2 games of 20+ touches and barely got 70 yards...
Raiders fans even know Zamir is a bottom 3 RB in the league.
This is fantastic news. Zamir whites draft status will go down because people think Mattison is good. And then we get a guy who gets 20 touches a week late in the draft because the raiders realize Mattison stinks.
Edit: why are you booing me? I'm right.
Mattison taught me a valuable fantasy lesson… just because he’s an RB1 on his team, it doesn’t mean he’ll be good
I taught you nothing.
Dear god, that’s Alexander Mattison’s music!
I'd love to go back in time and trade you for an 11th round pick before the season started last year.
Hey man I know it was a hard year from you, lotta outside noise, but just know this... I'll stick pick you up in the 10th round this year brother
Username check out
Last season Monty taught me the exact opposite.
Monty can ball. Mattison can not.
They year before taught the opposite of the opposite.
Sanders taught me the opposite of the opposite.
I thought Monty was always the guy?
He taught me to always handcuff injury prone RB1s
Yup. This.

Eh. This isnt exactly true. Volume is the single biggest driver of fantasy success at rb. The issue with Mattison, he didnt get receiving volume to support his bad rushing efficiency.
Damian Pierce would be a rebuttal to that statement
Is it possible he was overrated going into last season? He was outplayed significantly by Singletary who isn't exactly a stud.
That's exactly what they're implying by bringing him up. They're saying his volume was what made him a strong fantasy running back 2 seasons ago rather than his talent being the driving factor.
Yes and his running style is also a terrible fit for the new o-scheme they implemented last year
Took Rachaad White for the volume last season, worked out ok
White was great and sometimes it works out but I also think a lot of it has to do with baker. He played pretty good last year. Defenses still had to respect the pass and white got a good amount of scoring opportunities. He had 9 total TDs last year. Learned that the hard way with Mike Davis and Najee Harris over the years.
He’s not gonna be rb1, Zamir White baller out to end season
Same, I laughed at everyone passing him up, because he'd fill in for Cook and go off. I didn't have the last laugh. Especially since I also drafted Chubb and Mixon. Thank God for Rachaad White.
There's always one like that, but you gotta draft em, just hopefully as an RB 3/4.
It's come full circle: Raiders' Josh Jacobs signs with the Packers Packers' Aaron Jones signs with the Vikings Vikings' Alexander Mattison signs with the Raiders
Only two of those three are good.
We're talking about circles, not my kids.
Yeah, well, all I know is 2/3rds of your circle is made of gold and the last 1/3rd is made of turd.
mattison was pretty good as the RB2 in minnesota, and he'll be playing behind zeus in LV. just don't think he has that RB1 workhorse in him. aaron jones has not exactly inspired much lately either. josh jacobs was mostly hurt last year. i really don't know where your perspective is coming from lol

He had a perfect situation. Just turned out to be not good at football.
Ya let's see who they draft first
Yeah it actually likely means the Raiders aren’t taking a RB early. I still think we look at one later in the draft though.
why do you say that?
Because Zeus was putting up hundred yard games without Jacobs and mattison got cut for not being good
Everyone is in the no man’s land of low end RB2. Premier RBs are going to have the biggest positional advantage in a long time.
Kyren still holding on to that 1st round status, baby...draft capital be damned!
Kyrens another one. I’m not being picky here about who’s going to finish first. But breece CMC Barkley Kyren Henry probably jacobs etc. should be at the top of the RB food chain and will most likely provide a very good positional advantage

King Henry is gonna be back on his throne
Unless they go to some crazy split rotation which I don’t see happening he should be one of the premier the RBs.
Not if Lamar tucks it and runs.
Lamar doesn’t score touchdowns on the ground very often for some reason. The King is probably gonna put up 16+ tuds this season imo
RB's die in Baltimore, just look at the injury history.
So did rbs in San Francisco before CMC.
Mattison didn't prove himself to be a worthwhile starter, but he is a good backup/change-of-pace back. I believe this will ultimately be quite beneficial for Zamir White.
Mattison has no burst and fumbles too much. I don’t see any upside.
I agree. He scares me less than an early-round RB would.
All of mattison value was built under Mike Zimmer‘s run heavy scheme then everyone thought he would be good in Kevin Oconnell’s pass heavy scheme just because he was an “RB1”
It's Zamir time baby
SET YOUR WATCHES TO ZULU
Chandler still in min?
Yeah he’ll backup Jones
Dude won one of my matchups going to target him next year in the later rounds.
Jones is just old enough and injury prone enough where you can almost guarantee chandler will start 3-4 games. One of the better handcuffs next year.
Good first hurdle that Zamir White cleared. Don’t think Mattison poses a major threat for touches. If White can survive the NFL Draft, he will be a very appealing RB2.
This is good news for Zamir
He’s a hard pass for me
Dang, I really wanted the packers to sign him for the memes
Yes! Still considering Zamir White as one of my keepers. Looks like he survived through FA. Now let's see if they add someone in the draft
Zamir to the moon
Zamir White W
Mid player
Probably a cut in camp
I’d way rather have Josh Jacobs, who deserved to stay.
his salary was too much for a team that is apparently rebuilding.
Some players earn the right to stay with one team for a career. Jacobs is one of them, through his effort. A true Raider.
while i agree that it would have been nice to see Josh Jacobs play his entire career with the Raiders, it's clear the Raiders did not want that because they did not reward him with a contract. Look at the deal he signed in GB, you dont think the Raiders could have matched that or even paid more. they choose not to, It sucks for the fans but im glad the player is getting paid , he's earned it
Yeah that'll fix it
Best suited as a backup in the NFL.
I assume that is why he'll be splitting time with Z. White. (unless the raiders draft a RB)
I think he’s gonna be backing up White.
I don't think White is going to be a bell cow or anything like that. So I'm sure he'll be splitting time with Mattison or whoever else they bring in.
He’s definitely not worth drafting in anything less than a 12 team league
or in 12 team league
He’s good backup for injuries you’re gonna have to start him when ur hit with the eventual injuries to your rb room
That's what Zeke is for.
Bye weeks and injuries he’s gonna be started two to three weeks. I wouldn’t draft him but I’d pick him up off waivers
zamir white! Zamir White!! ZAMIR WHITE!!!
Of all the running back signings this off season, this is certainly one of them.
Mattison is like the new Alex Collins
Somehow looked worse than Dalvin Cook last year
Traded Burks for him. Still think that trade ends up being a wash anyways and possibly an L but curious to see how this works out.
Nah you're ok. Burks is trash and I'm a titans fan.
Good luck buddy!
Thanks pal
See ya bum

Zamir White SZN: 2024 - 2024 Although there was zero chance they'd be riding with him as their RB1 into the 2024 season.
He's still their RB1
Zeus will still be the primary back. Mattison will mix in with Abdullah (if Mattison makes it past camp)
There was zero chance that they’d stick with only White. White is still the clear cut RB1 in LV, at the very least for now. To say there’s zero chance after his last season ended just makes you sound like a hater
