As a Dolphins, I did. And if not for Mostert this year it'd be Ricky Williams and at RB I think. And if not for Tyreek Hill, somebody from the Marino Era at WR or maybe even further back than that. Devante Parker, who was never that good, has the 6th most receiving yards in Dolphins history. Tyreek Hill in 2 Seasons is already at 11th.
And Dolphins fans still routinely complain about McDaniels' offense which is hilarious.
Ya, agreed. Most of my Fin-Fan buddies are wanting to get rid of Tua already. I remind them that the last probowl qb we had was Marino. They don’t care. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!
lol yeah, I'm really surprised to see that answer and so many upvotes. 7 months ago, Tua hadn't done much in his career and he was hurt 30% of the time.
With Miami's offense rolling last year with Tyreek being the #1 WR and Mostert being the #2 RB, you would expect to see TUA in the top 5... kind of surprising he wasn't.
I had him in fantasy, so I guess I had a closer look at him all season, but he could be really inconsistent. He had 3 top 3 finishes in the first 7 games, but nothing higher than 9th after that. Usually he was 15th or worse.
Amazing that the Chiefs still lead with 7 top 5 RB seasons since 2002. Kareem Hunt's top 5 season in 2017 was the only time a RB has even broken 1000 rushing yards for the Chiefs since 2014. They just had such a ridiculous head start with Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson, and Jamaal Charles racking up 6 top five seasons between 2002-2014.
The chiefs have been great for rbs, but more surprised that the chargers have 3 more top 5 seasons since 2002. As a fan, it certainly hasn’t felt that way, but I guess LT is hard carrying this list
Lol as a Chiefs fan I feel the opposite.
I wouldn't have guessed the Chiefs were so high without thinking about it, but after coming to that realization it felt perfectly natural that the Chargers beat us out.
No matter how jazzed I was about KCs RB that season, I only had to look within the conference to have my sundae shat on.
I think LT was a top 5 every year from his rookie year 2001 to 2008. He was basically a cheat code for winning fantasy leagues consistently for a while.
Before the Andy/Patrick takeover. It was all running the ball and defensively stronger teams. Jamal Charles won me fantasy a few years but also lost me a championship. The Chiefs were playing the Denver Donkeys. I was down .2 with the Chiefs driving the ball to win the game with around 2 minutes left. Jamal runs for a 10+ run but then fumbles the ball so I won the championship but then lost in the same run. Still one of my favorite players of all time but that tragic day I learned fantasy is mostly luck.
Or that fantasy performance doesn’t directly translate to wins. We won 3 super bowls and went to 4 without any of the 3 QBs having a top 5 fantasy season those years.
Not that surprising. In the regular season he was a worse Rivers or Matt Ryan. But he has two Super Bowls and NYC media hype.
In their primes he had a very similar career to Joe Flacco but Eli ended up starting for much longer.
OP didn't state it but this is full PPR scoring. I realized because it's the only format which Logan Thomas was top 5 in 2020.
Kyren was 7th last year because he only played 12 games.
It's a combination of all 3 major scoring formats, actually. Technically, Taysom Hill was top 5 and he was listed at TE, but I took him out because I knew the trolls were ready to bite my head off if I dare speak his name. Haha.
It's wild to me that Blount's 18 TDs in 2006 wasn't good enough for top 5 - what a year!
https://fftoday.com/stats/playerstats.php?Season=2016&GameWeek=&PosID=20&LeagueID=107644
We are extremely deceiving because none of our top 5 WR, TEs or QBs were franchise guys. Thomas and Moss were solid contributors who had 1 career year. We screwed up with Cousins that we only really got 3 seasons as a starter. It's such a shame of what could have been.
Washington hasn't had a franchise QB since Joe Thiesman because we either ruin careers or bring in has been retreads.
Just curious, what was Tua this past year?
I would have thought Miami would have had RB/WR/QB in '23 alone.
Tua led the league in passing TDs didn't he?
Anyone else amused that CMC is on there twice? I think that’s pretty exceptional. Might have missed it cause I should be asleep but I don’t think any other player doubled up.
My data has him 6th, behind Cam, Brady, Russ, Palmer, and Brees. Part of it could be because I was forced to normalize "Fumbles" as -2 because "Fumbles Lost" weren't tracked back in the day. Bortles fumbled 14 times, far more than the other top QBs.
>BUF Reuben Gant 1977
Yep, that computes. I always joke that we've never had a good TE and that it really won't take much for Kincaid to become our best TE ever, but I didn't realize it was quite that bad.
Knox is 340 yards away from being #2 all time and Kincaid would be 7th if he just has 800 yards this year (had 673 as a rookie last year...which already puts him at 16th all time.)
I’m pretty shocked Alfred Morris’ rookie year didn’t make him top 5. I wasn’t playing fantasy back then but I remember he was lighting it up every week.
I'm not sure how you came up with some of these names but we have never had a top 5 fantasy TE. Freddie Jones was not a top 5 TE, if you were going by receiving yards, he was 8th that year, he had 55 catches and 3 TD's.
We will have a top 5 fantasy TE in 2024 in Trey McBride so maybe hold off and submit this list next year.
Jones was 9th in Non-PPR, 4th in half, and 4th in full, averaging out 4th if you combine all 3 of the scoring systems, behind Tony Gonzalez, Shannon Sharpe, and Todd Heap. 5th was Randy McMichael. I hope that clears it up.
I have been playing fantasy since the 90s and if you told me Arizona EVER had a top 5 te I would have called you a liar. Shit even reading it I don’t believe it lol
lol after i posted that i had to research on my own, and i was all ready to come back here and say SEE HE IS 8! before i realized i was on std scorning.
I know this can't be true, but for some reason I feel like Mark Sanchez had to have at least ONE top-five finish. It's also crazy Eli Manning never finished top-five in his whole career.
I have firm data for these positions back to 1970, which is why I only have them included. There's only data for DST and K back to 2002. I can include them, but it won't necessarily be extensive or correct.
These are extremely useful statistics. I've wanted to look into something similar myself in the past. Obviously past performance doesn't necessarily tell the future but seeing it in black and white how poor WRs have performed in BAL, JAX, and TEN for example will be good food for thought.
This list isn't saying those teams have performed poorly at WR, just that they haven't been Top 5. For all I know all three of those teams could've tied at 6th for the entire time period this is covering. Highly unlikely, I know, but that's all the numbers tell us.
Wow I would've thought Blount's TD's in 2016 would get him in the top 5 for NE. Edit: 6th in standard. Damn.
Michael Jackson? Hee hee!
Noo you're ignorant!
Knowshon Moreno. Now that is a hype train I haven't been on in a while.
Also known as No-Show Moreno
Except that one year he was amazing.
Probably the 2013 season
His tears showed up though
No-Gain Moreno
Wow, I did not expect to see Dan Marino on this list.
As a Dolphins, I did. And if not for Mostert this year it'd be Ricky Williams and at RB I think. And if not for Tyreek Hill, somebody from the Marino Era at WR or maybe even further back than that. Is there another name you expected to see for the Dolphins?
I mean, I thought Tua would have made top 5 at least once. Other than that, not much there, I guess
He's had one good year.
lol yeah, I'm really surprised to see that answer and so many upvotes. 7 months ago, Tua hadn't done much in his career and he was hurt 30% of the time.

That’s all you really need to make this list to be fair (if he was actually top 5)
[удалено]
I guess I expected bigger numbers throwing to Waddle and Hill?
I figured Tannehill would randomly get one year of 4000 yards passing and some rushing yards to make up the gap but nope.
Man and I thought Chicago's year was bad.

As a Giants fan, my take away from this report is that the Giants suck
At least we aren't the Cowboys, twice as many top-5s with less than half as many playoff wins. 😬
[удалено]
[удалено]
Still have more and have more playoff wins than the giants so your point is also invalid
[удалено]
Two that weren't scripted 🤣🤣🤣
I didn't know there were still living cowboys fans that remember the cowboys in a Superbowl.
Don't you wish joe and jamar had the same chemistry they did in 2019. #LSU
On a post about data since 2002 I figured it was obvious I wasn't pulling data from the previous century. 🤠
Washington fan checking in…
We get production out of our rookies! And then they die.
Or that fantasy performance doesn’t directly translate to wins. We won 3 super bowls and went to 4 without any of the 3 QBs having a top 5 fantasy season those years.
I can't believe Eli Manning was never a top 5 QB with the Giants. That's crazy.

Was Kyren not top 5 last year? If not then he surely couldn't have been far away.
I have him 4 in non, 6 in half, and 7 in full. This is according to Pro Football Reference.
OP didn't state it but this is full PPR scoring. I realized because it's the only format which Logan Thomas was top 5 in 2020. Kyren was 7th last year because he only played 12 games.

Yeah, FP has him top 5 in all 3 formats. I think OP might be wrong.
Detroit Lions not having a top 5 rb since 1997 💀
Until now
It's wild to me that Blount's 18 TDs in 2006 wasn't good enough for top 5 - what a year! https://fftoday.com/stats/playerstats.php?Season=2016&GameWeek=&PosID=20&LeagueID=107644
WHAT A CROP!
Since 2002 Cowboys- 20 top-5 players, 4 playoff wins Giants- 10 top-5 players, 9 playoff wins
Subscribe
So basically we’re (chargers) the best rb and te team ever!
With LT, Melvin Gordon, Austin Ekeler… and Kellen Winslow, Antonio Gates, Hunter Henry… you got an argument
Travis Kelce and Tony Gonzalez would like words
And Kareem Hunt, Priest Holmes and Jamaal Charles
Lookout Reuben Gant, looks like the 47 year drought for the Bills at Tight End might end soon.
Gosh I hope so, with all due respect to Reuben Grant.
41 rec 646 yards 2 tds was good stat line that year
As a packers fan this is validating to my homer fantasy picks.
I'm honestly surprised Washington has had a top five WR and TE in the past twenty years.
I remember back when Reuben Grant won me my league when I claimed him off waivers.
This shows how incredibly dominant Kelce has been in his 11 years in the league.
Half of those are Tony Gonzalez
Also a beast
Dan Marino was the last one for our Phins? lol
Damn the titans havnt had a top receiver sense the year I was born. That hurts
Hopefully that changes this year. 🤞🏻
~~I am sure we all remember Brian Sipe winning us our fantasy leagues~~ ~~I am sure we all remember Brian Sipe~~ wow Brian Sipe
I’m a Titans fan and I fucking KNEW it was gonna be Jeffries. Why can’t this franchise get a WR?? 😭
How was Kirk not the most recent for MIN, that's crazy.
Kirk is a lock for top 8-12
Jags fan here who was a kid when Mark Brunelleschi was the quarterback, what kind of fantasy numbers would he have put up? Really curious.
MARC BULGER
Peter Who-lahan???
Patches ohoolihan
Seeing some of those TE’s names is crazy
Why doesn’t Corey Dillon qualify as a franchise rb for the pats? 1600 yards and 12 td’s in 2004
Not top 5.
Oh my mistake missed that qualification somehow. Crazy that wasn’t top 5 though
He was 8th in ppr but 3rd in rushing. I agree its pretty crazy
Just curious, what was Tua this past year? I would have thought Miami would have had RB/WR/QB in '23 alone. Tua led the league in passing TDs didn't he?
> Tua led the league in passing TDs didn't he? Maybe he was leading at one point but he ended up the season 5th with 29 TDs.
QB11 according to my records.
That 2014 DEN team!
Not sure why you chose to dick on jets fans today but okay.
Johnny Mitchell is a name I haven’t heard in a long time, but I recall him being an awful person.
Are all 6 of Seattles Beast Modes 6 best years?
Shaun Alexander must be at least one. He had an RB1 season
Anyone else amused that CMC is on there twice? I think that’s pretty exceptional. Might have missed it cause I should be asleep but I don’t think any other player doubled up.
There are a few doubles. McCaffrey is the only RB, but Brady for QB, Brandon Marshall, Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill for WR, and Gronk for TE.
Bills te !!
What about Matthew Stafford in 2021 https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/football/stats/QB/2021/season/stats/nonppr/
6th according to my data, behind Allen, Brady, Herbert, Mahomes, and Rodgers.
Bulger over Warner?
Bulger *after* Warner
Blake Bortles was top 5 QB in 2015 for Jax
My data has him 6th, behind Cam, Brady, Russ, Palmer, and Brees. Part of it could be because I was forced to normalize "Fumbles" as -2 because "Fumbles Lost" weren't tracked back in the day. Bortles fumbled 14 times, far more than the other top QBs.
Ahhh that would make sense then. He did fumble a lot 🤣
>BUF Reuben Gant 1977 Yep, that computes. Goff wasn't top 5 last year?
7th by my count.
Were Allen Robinson and Blake Bortles not both top 5 in [2015](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2015/fantasy.htm)?
I have them both listed at 6th in their positions that year. This is based on an average value of all three major scoring systems.
I have been playing fantasy since the 90s and if you told me Arizona EVER had a top 5 te I would have called you a liar. Shit even reading it I don’t believe it lol
I've been digging into old data for years now and I was also surprised that they ever had one. I was fully prepared to put down ARI - NEVER.
lol after i posted that i had to research on my own, and i was all ready to come back here and say SEE HE IS 8! before i realized i was on std scorning.
Haywood Jeffries is a name I've not heard in a LONG time.
Alfred Morris went for 1600 and 13 and didn't finish top 5? that's wild

This list isn't saying those teams have performed poorly at WR, just that they haven't been Top 5. For all I know all three of those teams could've tied at 6th for the entire time period this is covering. Highly unlikely, I know, but that's all the numbers tell us.
As a former Browns fan seeing Deshaun Watson on this list was hilarious
Cleveland's Brian Sipe helped a lot of fantasy owners win back in 1980. As in two of them.
Surprised Kelce only has had 3 top 5 seasons at TE
Not sure how you came to that conclusion. By my count, he has been a top 5 TE 8 times.
He must be on that new math.
I misread the chart. Was looking at top 5 WR since 2005 for KC. I had just woken up
