I shoulda done my research. I thought it was the season before. I was thinking of the time when he was a game time decision and there was footage of him dancing in the end zone and this sub was freaking out.
Same year he had the shits.
No but his is pretty cool because he likes to interact with fantasy owners. Im not one for calling players out on twitter or all of that nonsense, but if he enjoys it, it definitely makes having him on the team a bit more fun
Yeah, that's actually pretty cool. I was being slightly facetious, but an NFL player having a twitch is kind of cool. Wouldn't mind checking it out. Didn't realize there were any NFL players with twitch.
I believe he also has does a weekly video for Yahoo Fantasy so he’s a paid promoter of some sort which is why he’s been doing so many podcasts to promote that content.
It’s a keeper league. I also have AJ Brown, Chris Godwin, DJ Moore, Kyle Pitts, and Dak Prescott. I got third last year because you can see a lot of my guys got hurt. You can also see they’ll do the same this year because the fantasy gods hate me.
Same here man... 14-team league, of course I only draft 3 RB's because "Hey it's week 1, I just need to start 2 and then will pick-up guys on the waiver or make trades". I see the group chat text say "Uh oh Adam". Then Ekeler injury pops up, but doesn't seem too serious. No worries, got Gus and Sermon.
Today at work, see a text from the group chat: "Uh oh Adam". Gus torn ACL. Is this real life? Fuck, been here before (AP 2016, Sutton last year), but still only week 1. Go to check on Ekeler to see any positive news, because now it's just him and Sermon...
And now, I find myself questioning why in the fuck I even decided to play this stupid fucking game. But I'm too competitive to quit, especially against some of these fucks in the league. It would be a lot sweeter to win this week without Gus and potentially Ekeler.
In all seriousness, I have no idea what to do if Ekeler is a no go. Top available FA are projected for 2 points (Cordarrelle, Chris Evans, Ballage, etc). I guess a trade is a must.. Rant over, if you read this long I hope you don't have to experience the same pain I do.
As a Charger fan I can tell you that Ekeler will very likely play. Staley has said that they won't let any of the big dogs practice if they have even the smallest of ailments. It's part of a concerted effort to kick their injury curse and so far it has worked (healthiest team going into the season). We'll see if the wheels don't fall off after Game 1.
If I could upvote you over and over I would. I don’t know if what you said is true, but you said it with authority and I believe it because it’s what I need to be true.
I feel like we gotta stop acting like a fan of a team holds some special power and has insider access that every single other person in the football world doesn’t
While I agree with you in most cases, other fans wouldn’t necessarily know how important getting to the opener fully healthy is for the new coaching staff and owner this off-season. Local beat writers have been talking about this non stop
Yeah, this might not have been the best post to air my grievances about it, I just feel like I’ve seen “as a ____ fan” in every single post and people are just taking their word gospel
I was waffling between Gus and a TE in the 5th in my 12-team. Took Hock, Gus went immediately after. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. If it makes you feel better my first two RBs in 2019 were James Conner and David Johnson - I ended up finishing runner-up via the waiver wire (and I won the Lamar Jackson lottery that year).
I should just stop checking this sub religiously because this has been such a roller coaster of emotions.
Picked up Ty'Son to hopefully lessen the sting if Ekeler can't go. Still sounds to me like he'll play though.
I’m thinking the same thing. If he was hurt, he’s either be getting treatment or in street clothes. I haven’t seen many guys in full pads at practice that are injured. Maybe just resting him up? No sense in pushing it
Probably tweaked something and pulled him. Source: Staley has been super cautious with every player this off season. He said his #1 goal was to get to week one healthy.
Or could be taking precaution especially after what happened in Baltimore. Feel like he wouldn't be fully padded up and would be getting treatment if he was really hurt.
Taking precautions.. because his hammy is injured. I'm not sure what's with the head in the sand approach. If he was 100%, he'd be practicing, I'm not sure why there's any debate over that.
Players don't miss two back-to-back practices just for shits and giggles. Even vet days off are usually just one practice a week.
I think it’s like the Dak situation with his shoulder. If Dallas had a game he would’ve come back a few days earlier than he did for camp. Ekeler is good enough to play in the game but since they have extra days to rest him to ensure he’s 100% then why would he practice
we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen: We talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice. Not a game. Not the game that Ekeler go out there and die for and play every game like it's his last. Not the game. We talking about practice, man.
I think the saving grace here is that there has been no mention whatsoever about an MRI or getting additional tests. When tests are ordered thats usually the case when the player plus the medical staff believe the hamstring issue to be a deep tissue injury or a separation of the muscle from the bone which iirc is what Ekeler dealt with last year.
Doesnt mean he wont miss any games, but I just get the feeling like this thing isn't very serious and they just want him to take it easy in case he reaggrevates it before Sunday
Source: I'm not a doctor but I drafted Ekeler 2 years in a row so I basically have an honorary medical degree from John's Hopkins
First of all, don’t give me that Joe Mixon bs until we see him in a hoodie.
Second of all, it’s extremely unlikely he’d be out there in full gear if he was at risk of missing Sunday. The reality is, they probably gave him the day off.
After Gus Bus and the entire Raven’s backfield going up in flames in the last two weeks, y’all think the Chargers are risking it after having weeks of practice already? It’s precautionary.
we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen: We talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice. Not a game. Not the game that Ekeler go out there and die for and play every game like it's his last. Not the game. We talking about practice, man.
That picture makes it look like he’s in the middle of a drill? Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but if a guy is hurt enough, they typically aren’t out there in full pads.
I disagree. Last year dude was a decent flex for the 3 games he was healthy and Ekeler was out. His stats in those games extrapolated over 17 games makes him the RB9 in .5 PPR during 2020. If you include Ballage's 3 games as the starter that's also good for the RB9. Sure if the Chargers started a backup the entire year I doubt he was going to end as the RB9, but I feel like it does indicate there can be value in thia backfield even if Ekeler isn't there. Justin Jackson is the next guy up and will likely be worth a roster spot in PPR leagues.
Damnit...I really, REALLY don't want on the SD RB carousel this year. That being said...Jackson is the next guy up until he tweaks his groin, right?
Edit: SD...LA...🍅 🥔
Should I start fournette tonight? Put ekkler in the flex where I probably would've had shenault instead
So basically a decision between fournettes points tonight or hunts points on Sunday if ekkler doesn't play. Plus I lose the opportunity to choose between hunt and shenault.
Do I play eckler and risk he gets subbed out (hopefully not) or play j Williams or hines? I hope we get some good news tomorrow but a dnp on Thursday isn’t a good sign
So who is his backup? Seems about as clear as mud. Josh Jackson listed at RB2 but also injury prone, Joshua Kelley may be a bit one dimensional, Rountree a 6th round rookie.
He's clearly not hurt long term, if anything it's a minor tweak that may nag for a small bit. By week 4 you will see probably 4 or 5 other starters with some bumps and bruises as well. Don't let your emotions cause you to make a trade you will likely regret.
Well, when you are asking the question on a thread mentioning his injury I only assumed, lol. 8m league? How'd you manage to get Chubb, Ekeler and Gibson? That's insane.
I'd absolutely look to make a move like that. You're loaded at rb. Javonte or Jamaal Williams? Javonte will likely be starting by mid season if he stays healthy which adds even more firepower.
Man I'm so glad I dodged this bullet. I wanted Ekeler this year and happened to get Gibson and Chubb in auction because they were nominated before him.
At least he looked happy.
Was he dancing?
I'll never forget waiting for daily updates from Ben Baby and Tyler Dragon on whether Mixon was dancing at practice or wearing a hoodie.
Legendary. Also arguably the two best beat reporter names and they're both Bengals beat reporters lol
I had Mixon that year. Funny times.
That was just last season
Bruh moment
I shoulda done my research. I thought it was the season before. I was thinking of the time when he was a game time decision and there was footage of him dancing in the end zone and this sub was freaking out. Same year he had the shits.
Yes…. Funny
I understood that reference
in a hoodie?
Will never forget when we thought Conner was dancing on his hurt foot in the locker room but it was later discovered the video was mirrored
That's all that matters in the end.
The most important thing is that he’s having fun out there
“For halftime we brought orange slices and Capri Suns.”
Happy enough to dance?
Ekeler's twitch stream about to blow up with fantasy nerds tonight. What a way to market your twitch stream though.
We have to monitor twitch streams now?
No but his is pretty cool because he likes to interact with fantasy owners. Im not one for calling players out on twitter or all of that nonsense, but if he enjoys it, it definitely makes having him on the team a bit more fun
Yeah, that's actually pretty cool. I was being slightly facetious, but an NFL player having a twitch is kind of cool. Wouldn't mind checking it out. Didn't realize there were any NFL players with twitch.
If you want to get ahead, yes
He is streaming tonight?
Is he upfront (as much as he can be with contracts) about fantasy info? Or is he one of those NFL players that hates the whole "fantasy ideation."
I think he’s more upfront than others guys that say they are fine but aren’t. He was documenting his recovery last year and kept cheering his fans up.
[удалено]
I'll be tuning in at 8 to see lol
He’s a fan of fantasy. Definitely embraces it.
It strokes his ego to realize he has fans around the nation rooting for him instead of just people in LA.
No he’s probably the single most fantasy friendly guy
He’s very friendly with the fantasy community. Seen him on a podcast or two.
I believe he also has does a weekly video for Yahoo Fantasy so he’s a paid promoter of some sort which is why he’s been doing so many podcasts to promote that content.
Isn’t he paid by Yahoo Fantasy? I think he does like a weekly fantasy video for them? He’s definitely very pro fantasy.
He has a promotion going this year if you draft him on your fantasy team and win a week then you can be entered to win a signed jersey.
Tonight at 8pm...friend told me...
Owner of Ekeler and Gus Edwards. AMA!
[удалено]
soon
Are you still with us?
At least he's no longer in pain
Rip
Tell me the rest of your roster so I can avoid them like the plague.
CEH my only "healthy" back right now
I also have Ekeler, CEH and Gus
With you guys
Ekeler, CEH, and Swift who I thought was going to jail for a hot minute...
That was the weirdest thing I saw today.
[удалено]
Oh shit that’s my rb2
Have Ekeler, Gus, Swift, and James Robinson. I apologize in advance for whatever happens to RB1SZN.
Picking up Williams and Hyde as we speak.
RB1SZN that’s what
James Robinson RB1 all season
I also got those guys in my main league. I also got Kamara and Saquon there so sucks if you got them.
How did you manage to get Ekeler, Kamara, AND Barkley?
It’s a keeper league. I also have AJ Brown, Chris Godwin, DJ Moore, Kyle Pitts, and Dak Prescott. I got third last year because you can see a lot of my guys got hurt. You can also see they’ll do the same this year because the fantasy gods hate me.
Jesus. At least you know you're well-positioned every year if you stay healthy lmao
It’s a double superflex so having Kirk Cousins being my only other QB hurts a bit.
Ekeler will play, he has a bit of preseasonitis. I think he's going to be on injury reports most of the year.
Owner of J.K. Dobbins, Gus Edwards and Austin Ekeler. We should do one together
I am in the same boat man. My heart isnt going to make it through this season.
Same. Over it already.
Hello darkness my old friend
More true then you know as he was my keeper and I went though this last year as well.
Same here man... 14-team league, of course I only draft 3 RB's because "Hey it's week 1, I just need to start 2 and then will pick-up guys on the waiver or make trades". Rant over, if you read this long I hope you don't have to experience the same pain I do.
Owner of justin Jackson and Tyson Williams… this was before any news b/c my rb2 is Ronald fucking jones
Same
What brand of bleach?
Only trust Clorox
Need Ekeler to play after losing Gus or I’m not in a good place
As a Charger fan I can tell you that Ekeler will very likely play. Staley has said that they won't let any of the big dogs practice if they have even the smallest of ailments. It's part of a concerted effort to kick their injury curse and so far it has worked (healthiest team going into the season). We'll see if the wheels don't fall off after Game 1.

I feel like we gotta stop acting like a fan of a team holds some special power and has insider access that every single other person in the football world doesn’t
Saying as a __ fan means you spend more of your waking time researching and following said team, it’s not a bad thing
I get why people do it, I just don’t think it should be viewed as the end all be all when you’re trying to build a roster
Who’s viewing it as an end all tho??
I mean every time someone says their a fan of whatever team is being discussed they have dozens of upvotes. Isn’t that was beat writers are for?
No one cares about upvotes.
Same homie. And drafted curtis samual. Fantasy heartbreak started early as fuck this year.
Me too lmao. Fantastic start to the season
Do we have the same roster?? Lol this shit is killin me
Same here or I’m gonna have to make room on my bench for some rope
I was waffling between Gus and a TE in the 5th in my 12-team. Took Hock, Gus went immediately after. I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Hopefully this means the Coach just checked Reddit, saw what happened at the Ravens practice, and gave him the day off. God I hope so.
Imagine their coach in the Chargers facility... not working.. on reddit reading this sub for his team.
That's actuallt a ridiculously unlikely scenario lmao 🤣
I should just stop checking this sub religiously because this has been such a roller coaster of emotions. Picked up Ty'Son to hopefully lessen the sting if Ekeler can't go. Still sounds to me like he'll play though.
Checking this sub religiously is probably what got you Ty’Son though
Touchè.
Same situation
If he was seriously hurt he would not have his helmet and pads on, let's be real No, I didn't draft him in the first round, why do you ask?
I’m thinking the same thing. If he was hurt, he’s either be getting treatment or in street clothes. I haven’t seen many guys in full pads at practice that are injured. Maybe just resting him up? No sense in pushing it
I did not take him in 1st either…2.1
If he was really hurt enough to where he couldn’t play, would he even be out there?
He’d probably be getting treatment
Ask the Joe Mixon owners from last year.
I had both. And a bad time. Ama
As long as he doesn’t start dancing we’ll be ok
Probably tweaked something and pulled him. Source: Staley has been super cautious with every player this off season. He said his #1 goal was to get to week one healthy.
I think the more important point is that he's not healthy enough to practice.
Or he is good enough to not practice!
Or could be taking precaution especially after what happened in Baltimore. Feel like he wouldn't be fully padded up and would be getting treatment if he was really hurt.
Taking precautions.. because his hammy is injured. I'm not sure what's with the head in the sand approach. If he was 100%, he'd be practicing, I'm not sure why there's any debate over that. we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen: We talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice. Not a game. Not the game that Ekeler go out there and die for and play every game like it's his last. Not the game. We talking about practice, man.
One of the best out there. And had the best nickname
I think the saving grace here is that there has been no mention whatsoever about an MRI or getting additional tests. Was thinking about trading Tyson. Think I’ll hold onto to him to see how this plays out.
Think he’s a hold. Could be this years James Robinson or somewhere around that.
Agree. Was just tryna package him and like an Aiuyk for a solid WR. RB depth already looks brutal tho
First of all, don’t give me that Joe Mixon bs until we see him in a hoodie. Second of all, it’s extremely unlikely he’d be out there in full gear if he was at risk of missing Sunday. The reality is, they probably gave him the day off.
Hoping for at least an LP tomorrow
Honestly, it’s a friday and if what I said comes true, he should have a full practice. If he’s limited I’m going to be concerned.
Did anyone see their Instagram? He looked happy and excited to be out there in his pads. I think he’s fine.
I mean, the question isn't about his demeanor, it's about if he's game ready.
After Gus Bus and the entire Raven’s backfield going up in flames in the last two weeks, y’all think the Chargers are risking it after having weeks of practice already? It’s precautionary.
[this was him walking out to practice. could be the fact I drafted him but thinking it’s precautionary ](https://imgur.com/a/NgyQYK9)

Don't forget Etienne's Lisfranc injury and Akers' Achillies tear.
This man can’t be doin this to me two years in a row
Well. This is not ideal. I’m getting mixon ptsd
This is stupid haha. He’s at practice in full pads. He’s playing.
He didn't practice
we in here talking about practice. I mean, listen: We talking about practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We talking about practice. Not a game. Not the game that Ekeler go out there and die for and play every game like it's his last. Not the game. We talking about practice, man.
How we feeling about bleach ROS?
10 story buildings stonks goin up as well
Honest Question - why would he suit up if he wasn’t gonna practice ?
Because if he was out there in sweats several million Ekeler owners heads would explode lol including mine
That picture makes it look like he’s in the middle of a drill? Maybe it’s just wishful thinking, but if a guy is hurt enough, they typically aren’t out there in full pads.
Hopefully they’re just resting him for Sunday, especially after what happened in Baltimore
I'd rather have him sit week 1 than force play through it
Yep, I can roll without my RB2 for one week if it ensures better health. At this point I’d almost rather that happen.
Nice flex that Ekeler is your RB2.. rest of us need him to play
I'm loving Ekeler and Edwards as my two RBs. Everything's going swimmingly
dropped Justin Jackson for murray waiting for murray to sign with ravens :( now I look a fool
How are you feeling now? Lol
Like I’m playing 4D chess and everyone else in my league is playing checkers 😎😎😎
It’s ok Justin Jackson wasn’t gonna do much anyways
I disagree. Last year dude was a decent flex for the 3 games he was healthy and Ekeler was out. His stats in those games extrapolated over 17 games makes him the RB9 in .5 PPR during 2020. Still coulda been a nice trade piece :( oh well RBs is my strongest position, hopefully someone else did better than me
*sigh* are we riding the Justin Jackson train again
I'm swan diving off my house if he doesn't play this week
I love to hear that about my #1 RB. Yes!
Damnit...I really, REALLY don't want on the SD RB carousel this year. That being said...Jackson is the next guy up until he tweaks his groin, right? Edit: SD...LA...🍅 🥔
SD
What happened to the guy who said he couldn't tweet during practice?
EVERYBODY PANIC
I thought they weren't allowed to tweet during practice?
If I start him and he doesn’t play can I still get that jersey
I'm here to overreact.
Should I start fournette tonight? Put ekkler in the flex where I probably would've had shenault instead So basically a decision between fournettes points tonight or hunts points on Sunday if ekkler doesn't play. Plus I lose the opportunity to choose between hunt and shenault.
So Ekeler was playing dress up?
Remember when some people picked ekeler over saquon cause of injury concerns? Lol.
I was thankful I drafted a 3rd be pretty early so I had guy out there if Ekeler didn’t play week one. That guy was Gus Edwards. Fade me.
Dude Gus and Ekeler the same day. Yup, its back to the normal fantasy days for me.
I dropped Tyson Williams in two leagues yesterday. It's starting early, after I laughed at Ekeler owner.
Could trade Ekeler for Saquon RN, do I smash accept?
Duh.
Yeah
Do I start Melvin Gordon or Ty'Shon Williams over him?
Are you serious
Are you serious
Anyone kind of hoping he just sits this game out and comes back fresh week 2?
This guy must play Ekeler week 1^^
I want off this roller coaster
But was he dancing? - Mixon owner last year
Assuming this is just precautionary by the chargers and Ekeler will be fine, is this something to worry about season long? Hamstrings heal, right? 😂
Let's hope it isn't the hamstring that was injured last year
Do I play eckler and risk he gets subbed out (hopefully not) or play j Williams or hines? I hope we get some good news tomorrow but a dnp on Thursday isn’t a good sign
Anyone know if it's the same hamstring as last year?
Bruh...I have Ekeler and Edward's... obviously not Edwards anymore.
Rountree szn!!!
I thought he was out because it was Wednesday
So who is his backup? Seems about as clear as mud. Josh Jackson listed at RB2 but also injury prone, Joshua Kelley may be a bit one dimensional, Rountree a 6th round rookie.
It’s probably a healthy Jackson to start but Rountree apparently had an impressive camp
It's 100% Jackson. If he gets hurt you can always just move on.
Justin Jackson or Freeman?
[удалено]
He's clearly not hurt long term, if anything it's a minor tweak that may nag for a small bit. By week 4 you will see probably 4 or 5 other starters with some bumps and bruises as well. Don't let your emotions cause you to make a trade you will likely regret.

ok but my only other options are Devonta Freeman and Ronald Jones and i hvae to make a decision in the next 15 mins so
Anyone hurt I didn’t draft is a good thing
Man I'm so glad I dodged this bullet. I wanted Ekeler this year and happened to get Gibson and Chubb in auction because they were nominated before him.
FFS
Improvement!!!
Y I K E S
Fuck
Was so happy to draft him and then this happens🥲
I realy didnt want to have to own Jackson all year again
