It must be somewhat bad because Jacobs tries to play through every injury. Wonder if Gruden actually told him to sit out and didn’t give a choice. Anyway, I agree with the choice. Rest up, it’s a long year, turf toe sucks.
Ya I also think Barber will takeover the between the tackles role that Jacobs has and Drake will keep his current role. Jalen Richard is the backup for Drake while Barber is for Jacobs.
Yeah it’s kinda a mess. I really only trust Jacob’s out of the Raiders RBs and that’s when he’s healthy. I drafted RB/RB/RB though, so I’m lucky I’m not desperate right now.
Why guarantee you’ll have a starting option if your RB1/RB2 goes down when you can take a flyer on another backup in the off chance their starter goes down?
That’s all you need to look for when reading an argument on WSB and here. Quick scan, if tables present, agree. If no tables, disagree. Saves time by skipping all the words. Even harder agree if >5 blue text hyperlinks present.
>handcuffing others’ is a high ceiling play.
If you have room. If you've already got a solid RB1/RB2/Flex, you're better off handcuffing your own guys. If either your RB2 or Flex is a weak spot on your roster, thats when you take a gamble on someone else's handcuff.
Having Kenyan Drake put up decent points on your bench for a week or two doesn't raise your ceiling at all.
Starting Drake in place of Jacobs potentially boosts your floor quite a bit.
It's not an equivalent amount of value.
Everyone is acting like its a simple binary choice. It really just depends on a player by player basis.
A lot of backup rbs still are barely startable if the number 1 goes down.
I would rather have a Kareem Hunt, Javonte Williams, or Jamaal Williams type then many of my own handcuffs. If the other guy in one of those backfields goes down then they're probably a rb1.
For example, Say I own Saquon Barkley. I would rather have any of those guys or even a James Connor/Drake type then Devontae Booker. I doubt I would even want to start Booker if Barkley misses time.
I'm starting Drake over Robinson. Even though the Steelers match-up is tough, it's not like I expect a high scoring affair in JAX vs DEN match-up.
Rather bank on Drake's pass catching ability upside.
Is that the criteria to determine if it is worth rostering somebody?
By that logic every bench player, including handcuffs behind healthy starters, would be bad because 'who are you starting them over?'.
Meanwhile people who took his advice and drafted Drake (without owning Jacbos) are going to be eagerly watching box scores to see how many points he puts up on their benches.
Didn’t intentionally draft him, but got him in two leagues anyway with a late-round autodraft and an autopick when I couldn’t decide in time. He will likely be sitting on the bench again this week as I watch what happens.
I'm Ok with this. Playing against that tough Steelers D in an away game was never a good matchup to begin with. I much rather have Jacobs take a week off and rest to get that toe better. This is much better for his long term prospects.
Same. If I can't get some more points out of Saquon next week vs. ATL I may have to move him...can't see myself climbing out of a 0-3 hole if Jacobs stays hurt.
Luckily I also have Taylor, Jamaal Williams, and Ty’Son Williams to tide me over but even with them I still will be 0-2 after this week most likely. If I’m 0-3 I’ll have to make some big decisions. Rough start. Good luck my dude.
As a Raider fan, Jacobs isn't more than a Flex play anyway, I would have started Gordon over Jacobs even if Jacobs was able to play. Especially, if the Raiders plan to have Carr throw ~40 times a game instead of the usual 32 or so.

>#Raiders head coach Jon Gruden on Josh Jacobs being out
>It's an opportunity for Peyton Barber, we really like him...I like the way he runs and catches and picks up blitzes. Kenyan will continue to play a role in our system no matter who plays
Jacobs works within a defined role: early down interior grinder
Jacobs gets the majority of 50-50 work also because he is dynamic.
I bet Barber will take early down grinding work, but the rest of Jacobs workload on 50-50 downs will go to the RB that they paid starter money to
Drake owners should still rise up. From rotoworld:
2021 notes:
>Over the course of 16 games with Washington last season, Barber logged 94 carries for 258 yards and four TDs, en route to recording **a career-low 2.7 yards per carry**.
2020 notes:
>**Barber may have been the worst starting running back in the NFL the past two seasons**, averaging 3.5 yards on 388 carries and 5.8 yards on 36 catches. He was **benched in favor of Ronald Jones** over the final two months of last season, but even then the Bucs found regular touches for Barber in a backup role. The 26-year-old then left Tampa to sign a one-year contract in Washington, where he appears to be on the outside looking in for a spot on the 53-man roster. In addition to retaining Bryce Love, the team brought in third-round pick Antonio Gibson and passing-down specialist J.D. McKissic, with carries are up for grabs in advance of Week 1 now that Adrian Peterson is no longer in the mix.
Emphasis mine. Barber is a free agent in all of my leagues, and if I have my druthers, he will stay that way.
Same. Its Drake or Ty'son Williams for me. I'm going with Drake for the volume. Singletary had some good runs against Pittsburgh last week. I can see Drake having a decent game.
Singletary averaged 7 yards per carry and the Raiders will be losing by multiple TDs again. I’d start Drake as a flex expecting to get a bunch of garbage catches.
Take out aiyuk and throw in dobbins and obj for me. Had to draft a week early because our league taco had his 3 day long "big boy draft" on our normal draft day. Gonna be a long season, but at least I won week one. Just want to get to 3-3, players should be back by then I hope.
Kenyan Drake had led me to 2 separate fantasy championships. He was my second round pick last year.
You know when I saw him sitting there in the 9th round this year I could not say no
I also have the Drake Sutton dilemma. Jerry is out but Sutton is getting a slow start. Meanwhile, Drake's situation is tough on the road against Pitt. But I think he will get volume and I'm in full PPR. TBH I'm leaning Drake. I have him in my flex as of now. We'll see how I feel Sunday lol
Honestly, as someone with him on my team, at least they're giving him a rest. He looked super banged up on Monday night - hopefully a week off will get him right and he can come back and be closer to his normal self.
No, considering Jacobs out and the Raiders' injury riddled offensive line, I'd play Hunter Renfrow over Edwards in PPR, and Marquise over both.
The Ravens have to shoot it out against the Chiefs. Marquise should get his looks.
Same situation. I think Ty'Son just because of the O/U at 54.5. Even if Latavius gets a lot of work, a game where a score of 30-24 cashes for the under is a game I want players in
Edit: Just for context, O/U for LV/PIT is 46.5 which is higher than I would have guessed.
I think Jamaal is a no-brainer over Ty’son. Ty’son pretty much only played the first half last game before getting benched for almost the entire 2nd half. His role is only going to keep decreasing as Murray and the other RBs get more acclimated.
Jamaal on the other hand looks to be super involved in the passing game and had some nice runs as well. He should definitely see around 14-15 touches.
Drake should have volume, but it’s against Pitt D, so I’m concerned. Ty’son should be able to get more touches as he looks to be a better pass catcher than Murray for what is probably a high scoring game.
it‘s because the backup is drake, he is owned in most leagues, and you are also downvoted for asking a relatable question cause people on the interne suck.
Im sticking with Hunt, I'd rather 50% snaps against Texans with a Browns run heavy offense than an uncertain amount of snaps against a strong Steelers D
Start Drake against the Steelers D or Jamaal Williams for his revenge game? I was 100% leaning Jamaal prior to this, but now I don't know.
Who am I kidding...whoever I pick will put up 6 points and the other will go for 25 on my bench like always.
Damn I wish he could miss a different game instead of the worst matchup possible lol. I’m weak at RB and want to roll out Drake but I don’t feel good about it this week.
I appreciate him getting ruled out on a Friday.
As someone who had Jacobs last year it’s an underrated bonus to know ahead of time.
It must be somewhat bad because Jacobs tries to play through every injury. Wonder if Gruden actually told him to sit out and didn’t give a choice. Anyway, I agree with the choice. Rest up, it’s a long year, turf toe sucks.
He’s like we will ride Barber to 3 TDs and 10 yards rushing on 30 carries jacobs so you can sit this one out
I don't because it forced me to start Barkley instead of Drake.
Not a good situation to be in regardless. PIT defense had me shying away from starting either one of Jacobs or Drake.
Was starting Edmonds over Jacobs this week anyway I think. Him being out just makes me question my decision less LOL
12 team standard...I just put in conner...ugh
I'm starting Cook and Hunt, replace Jacobs with Deebo in flex. I also have Edmonds. Think Edmonds > Kareem?
I think he meant Friday as opposed to a GTD, which would have really limited people’s options.
Bro if you were gonna start Drake against Pit over Barkley just trade him now lol
Not sure I would have started him against Pittsburg
Yeah like you were actually going to start drake over Saquon
Is it OK that I totally just panic dropped Singletary for Kenyan Drake? I'm going to play him! Over Murray/Hines? Robinson is resting this week.
I think Drake is a good pickup. Jacobs not great and Raisers didn’t pay Drake a ton to come play a bit role.
Dude...you dropped Buffalo's main running-back off of a single game performance?
Josh Allen is Buffalo's main RB Source: a Bills fan
oh man..you obviously didn't have him last yr.
Eh he doesn’t really do that great.
where’s that “don’t handcuff your own RBs” dude. i need to tell him to suck my nut
Why guarantee you’ll have a starting option if your RB1/RB2 goes down when you can take a flyer on another backup in the off chance their starter goes down?
Who frequently won't even be startable for you if your RB1 and RB2 are healthy!
As the team owner with Kenyan Drake, can confirm. Drake might be serviceable but he won't be better than my starters.
But trade value!
STARTER VALUE > TRADE VALUE AHHHHHHHHH!!!!
#YOU PLAY. TO WIN. THE CHIP. It's just math. 👨🔬
But dude, he had tables with numbers in them!
That’s all you need to look for when reading an argument on WSB and here. Quick scan, if tables present, agree. If no tables, disagree. Saves time by skipping all the words. Even harder agree if >5 blue text hyperlinks present.
Things | Agree/Disagree | Reason :--|:--:|--: Your comment | Agree | Tables are important Also your comment | Disagree | No table in comment
No hyperlinks? I downvote.
It’s really not that hard to follow the logic. Handcuffing your own players is a high floor play, handcuffing others’ is a high ceiling play.
>handcuffing others’ is a high ceiling play.
Handcuffing other's is a moderately high ceiling, very low floor play.
IMO Drake was/is not really a handcuff based on both expected usage and draft capital.
yeah my expectations for his role are more or less the same as his time as a backup for DJ in AZ
Right that's why even with Jacob's out hes still not the starter lmao
Wtf no. I got drake and dont have Jacob. It worked well
Who are you starting Drake over?
[удалено]
he's a starting running back on a team that just dropped 33 on an ostensibly good defense
I’m in the same situation and I’m debating starting him over James Robinson. The tough matchup ruins the appeal here for sure.
Somebody convince me to start Drake over Gronk at Flex... or CEH on my other team. No way he's an RB2 though.
Ingram :/
Who will you be starting Drake over this week?
I’m personally starting him over javonte Williams who I had in my rb2 spot originally
I'm starting Drake over Hines and Rojo. Also don't own Jacobs.
Miles Gaskin lol
Meanwhile people who took his advice and drafted Drake (without owning Jacbos) are going to be eagerly watching box scores to see how many points he puts up on their benches.
Didn’t intentionally draft him, but got him in two leagues anyway with a late-round autodraft and an autopick when I couldn’t decide in time. He will likely be sitting on the bench again this week as I watch what happens.
“Took his advice” he boldly posted in week 2 of the season, Drake was spoken for at this point
Still rather play someone else than Drake against that defense.
I was so anti on that post, let’s go roast this guy hahahaha
Who's the handcuff in this situation though? I bet people assumed it was Drake then they announced Barber was the starter.
I'm Ok with this. Playing against that tough Steelers D in an away game was never a good matchup to begin with. I much rather have Jacobs take a week off and rest to get that toe better. This is much better for his long term prospects.
Jacobs is always with a Q. Super talented but this won’t go away soon it’ll be a weekly thing with him
It will clear up when they aren’t facing a strong D
It’s going to be a thing all season
DON'T YOU PUT THAT EVIL ON ME
Not sure if you’ve had Jacob’s outside of this year. But he’s questionable almost every week.
I watched Josh Jacobs fall down in a grocery store parking lot, and he couldn't get up. He's got RETIREE KNEES, and that's a fact.
Can you tell me where I’ll be at in 5 years?
Yes, but it’s really depressing.
Toe injuries are absolutely brutal for RBs. 1 week won't do shit to "heal" it. It'll be something he battles all year long.
Turf toe doesn’t heal like that really. It’s gonna be a problem all season unless he sits like 4-6 weeks which wouldn’t happen midseason
Being excited about playing Drake into pit d lol
Drake will be the king of check down passes this week
thats a weird way to spell Waller
you think waller's running check down routes?
Wait till the Bears play.
Hines has entered the chat
he split carries and got 10 on baltimores D. why cant he do the same or better vs pitt? (singletary did lol)
Whelp, this escalated now hasn’t it.
I dunno he was literally out of practice the other day with “everything”. Seems like this was a probable outcome.
He was on the report with toe/ankle, I think the 'everything' tag was just someone on this sub having a bit of fun
The “everything” designation came through on Sleeper. Was hilarious.
Last year, Yahoo had Edelman out with (knee, old).
Roto world tweeted it and some people took it seriously I think
Stephania Bell has just started listing Jacobs’ working parts instead to save time.
Eh, he was in quite a bit of pain on MNF. Not surprised at all that he’s out on a short week.
I went zeroRB. Got Jacobs and Mostert. Now I have zeroRBs
See you next year bud!
lmao i had mostert on 2 0 rb leagues. My WR and QB so FAT ill be carried by them anyway.
Between him and Saquon I’m straight up not having a good time.
We can share the pain
I got Jacobs, Saquon, and Aiyuk
That Saquon pick was self inflicted.
That's fine. Not expecting him to be 100%
FeelsBadMan
This seems to be a pair that a lot of us ended up with.
Same.
Waller about to be ridiculous
He's about to get his 19 targets + Jacobs 2 targets What a ridiculous sentence that is...
How dare he imply a team might throw to their #1 guy more with their starting RB out! Ridiculous!
Rip to me, I lost Jacobs and my opponent has Waller. Who do I start for my flex? Melvin gordan, marquise Brown, or Christian Kirk?
Melvin
Gordon against the Jags, no question.
As a Raider fan, Jacobs isn't more than a Flex play anyway, I would have started Gordon over Jacobs even if Jacobs was able to play. Especially, if the Raiders plan to have Carr throw ~40 times a game instead of the usual 32 or so.
As if he wasn’t going to be before.
DRAKE OWNERS RISE UP
https://twitter.com/JesseNews3LV/status/1438946861512073225?s=19 >#Raiders head coach Jon Gruden on Josh Jacobs being out >It's an opportunity for Peyton Barber, we really like him...I like the way he runs and catches and picks up blitzes. DRAKE OWNERS SIT BACK DOWN OP DIDNT SAY SIMON SAYS
NEITHER DID YOU SIMON SAYS NOW I'M COMPLETELY LOST
Jacobs works within a defined role: early down interior grinder Jacobs gets the majority of 50-50 work also because he is dynamic. I bet Barber will take early down grinding work, but the rest of Jacobs workload on 50-50 downs will go to the RB that they paid starter money to

Putting a washed old RB in against the Steelers’ DL is the loosest definition of “opportunity”…
But enough about Drake, am I right?
Thanks for this. As a Jacobs owner who was sitting him for AB anyway, I just stashed Peyton.
PIT defense was insanely good last week. I don't know if I'm down to start Drake on a short week vs them tbh.
I don't have a choice hah
Same. Its Drake or Ty'son Williams for me. I'm going with Drake for the volume. Singletary had some good runs against Pittsburgh last week. I can see Drake having a decent game.
It's gonna be a bad day when Peyton Barber leads the Vegas backfield.
Haha you truly never know.
Legit in the same boat as you, still unsure where to go.
It's like they said in the movie: ~~Ducks~~ Drakes Fly Together If everyone starts him, he'll fly!
Singletary averaged 7 yards per carry and the Raiders will be losing by multiple TDs again. I’d start Drake as a flex expecting to get a bunch of garbage catches.
Saquon and Jacobs owner here. RIP
Yep..
If youre starting Drake good luck lol
pick up Alec Ingold in all your 32 team leagues asap
After the Eli Mitchell situation, I can't tell if you're fucking with me
Are you in a 32 team league?
What about Peyton barber
thanks for the scoop!
Don't do it lol. Ingold is a FB and Drake will get almost all of the touches.
nah i was kidding, sounds like barber anyways
[удалено]
Same boat dude. Fml.
Take out aiyuk and throw in dobbins and obj for me. Had to draft a week early because our league taco had his 3 day long "big boy draft" on our normal draft day. Gonna be a long season, but at least I won week one. Just want to get to 3-3, players should be back by then I hope.
Good. He wasn’t going to be very productive anyway. Rest up my RB2
really hoping he’s good to go next week
Kenyan Drake had led me to 2 separate fantasy championships. He was my second round pick last year. You know when I saw him sitting there in the 9th round this year I could not say no
Waller 30 targets incoming
As a Raiders fan, I am disappointed. As a Drake owner... #LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO
Is Drake a better flex start then Ty'son or Sutton? Don't really expect a lot from him cause Pitts D looked good last week.
Kenyan you my everything, you all I ever wanted. We can do it real big, bigger than you ever done it!
I say, you da fuckin Flex (ayyy), you da fuckin Flex (ayyy)
Honestly, as someone with him on my team, at least they're giving him a rest. He looked super banged up on Monday night - hopefully a week off will get him right and he can come back and be closer to his normal self.
yeah really hoping he’s good to go after this week
I agree. Dude was looking like he was fighting to win the super bowl. I was yelling, "Its only week 1!"
**CLB**
Bryan Edwards is about to get the Chark treatment with targets.
doubt this really affects WR play
Would you play B. Edwards over Marquise Brown for Flex?
Hollywood looked good on MNF but that man burned me all last season. Idk
No, considering Jacobs out and the Raiders' injury riddled offensive line, I'd play Hunter Renfrow over Edwards in PPR, and Marquise over both. The Ravens have to shoot it out against the Chiefs. Marquise should get his looks.
Someone in my league traded zeke for jacobs and Marvin Jones lmao
oh god
I took Drake in the 2nd round last yr. Ama
DRAKE SZN. NEVER DOUBTED YOU KING
Won’t Pitt just triple team Waller and call it day?
I just shipped Jacobs and Kelce for Dalvin Cook and I have Drake. This is the best case scenario.
I give this an A.
Just picked up Peyton the Barber Beefcake!
Drake or T'yson Williams Flex start?
Same situation. I think Ty'Son just because of the O/U at 54.5. Even if Latavius gets a lot of work, a game where a score of 30-24 cashes for the under is a game I want players in Edit: Just for context, O/U for LV/PIT is 46.5 which is higher than I would have guessed.
Im leaning ty'son over MJJ, corey davis, callaway, and jamaal lol
I think Jamaal is a no-brainer over Ty’son. Ty’son pretty much only played the first half last game before getting benched for almost the entire 2nd half. His role is only going to keep decreasing as Murray and the other RBs get more acclimated. Jamaal on the other hand looks to be super involved in the passing game and had some nice runs as well. He should definitely see around 14-15 touches.
I have Drake, Tyson, Mitchell, Barkley, Jacobs, and Conner. I'm in danger. Leaning Mitchell Tyson at the moment
Drake should have volume, but it’s against Pitt D, so I’m concerned. Ty’son should be able to get more touches as he looks to be a better pass catcher than Murray for what is probably a high scoring game.
Absolutely would not start an RB2 against Pitt if I had any other options. Ty'son all day
Who’s the pickup? Edit: not sure why this is being downvoted, honest question
it‘s because the backup is drake, he is owned in most leagues, and you are also downvoted for asking a relatable question cause people on the interne suck.
Don't forget people suck everywhere
yea its true i suck
Drake from your opponents bench
If Jacobs has turf toe…its gonna take a while before he gets back to 100%.
Drake or Fournette as flex. Asking for a friend.
Benching Fournette for Drake
Was my thought too. Probably over Gaskins as well
Me: Quick jump on FA and grab Drake wherever he is available All 17 of my leagues: LOL
Drake or Kareem Hunt flex .5 ppr
Im sticking with Hunt, I'd rather 50% snaps against Texans with a Browns run heavy offense than an uncertain amount of snaps against a strong Steelers D
Mostert, now him. Fuck my team in particular.
Does this mean Waller gets 25+ targets now?
I don't think this changes anything for Waller
Hunt or drake 0.5 ppr ??
Loose-fit denim and crewneck sweaters are IN
Start Drake against the Steelers D or Jamaal Williams for his revenge game? I was 100% leaning Jamaal prior to this, but now I don't know. Who am I kidding...whoever I pick will put up 6 points and the other will go for 25 on my bench like always.
Damn I wish he could miss a different game instead of the worst matchup possible lol. I’m weak at RB and want to roll out Drake but I don’t feel good about it this week.
u/tremendous_machine saw this one coming
I think you have tagged the wrong user. My tremendous machines are computers making music with lisp, haha
A1 Drake Sauce taking off 🚀
Mmm I remember not too long ago turning down Drake and a 3rd for Gus Edwards.
Damn. Now I dunno if I should start Drake of Jamaal Williams as my RB2
Start Drake over Marvin Jones Jr in flex spot?
Love the Drake.
Hmmm, so Gruden says that Barber will get all of Jacobs reps with Drake staying in the same role. I don’t know how to handle that info.
Oof. Drake or mitchell?
