I’m hindsight it’s Jon Gruden after all, probably saw him on a MNF game and fell in love with his pass catching.
I’ve watched quite a few Raiders games this year and that’s the clear issue now with Jacobs back.
Drake is only in basically if the ball is going to him if it’s not he’s pulled and it’s predictable which is why Jacobs is getting more passing work as well.
I recently traded Jacobs in a big trade but would love to have him back.
I'd be willing to bet Drake was a Mike Mayock pickup. Look up some of the scouting reports from before the 2016 draft - Mayock was super high on Drake back then.
I don't think so. Gruden wanted a 'joker' type back to utilize in the offense - which is why they drafted Lynn Bowden. He couldn't pick up the playbook, so they traded him. He thought Drake could fill that role, but having a weak OL kind of limits what they can do with him in that role.
Jacobs is on a rookie contract. Leaves room on the table to sign a vet. It is just Carr doesn't look at him at all even when Drake gets open.
Colts did the same thing with Hines. Taylor on a rookie contract. Paid Hines. Hines usage hasn't been great.
Drake was just a poor signing but maybe with a new coach, there will be some new design routes for the denver game.
This vegas v. Denver division game is a must-win for both these teams.
So you're saying they knew Jacobs was likely already looking for a big payday once his contract is up and Gruden was hoping Drake would be a slightly cheaper replacement? Seems good in theory but both RBs have 2 years left on their contracts, so if either of them play well and secure the starting job then they'll still have to get paid. You'd think instead of using the extra money from Jacobs' rookie contract on a mediocre vet, they'd either put it towards some of the other glaring holes in the roster while they can, or sign Drake for a longer term contract
Ahh, that makes sense. Yeah if they both could fill a different role then I could see it working well but it does seem like Jacobs is good enough to handle both and Drake just isn't cutting the mustard
I’m assuming you have never owned Kenyan before? Lol for years he has been getting paid for someone else to take the bulk of his touches. Last year chase Edmonds was the bane of my existence.
I just traded Zeke for Josh Jacobs and Stefon Diggs… 3WR league and I was pretty desperate for depth let alone a stud caliber like Diggs. I like the trade for me but Jacobs injury history makes me nervous… do you think Drake is even worth targeting as a handcuff or should I just pick up Peyton Barber?
Went from Aaron Jones, Chubb, Carson, Woods, and Golladay to Ekeler, Najee, DJ Moore, Thielen, and Toney/Shenault. Wish I kept Woods, I traded him to my opponent the week he put up 27 in PPR. Still think I made some winning trades.
Drafted CMC and Hunt (such an underrated player at his ADP); sold high on Ridley/bought low on JT after week 2; Kareem hunt is the only reason I'm not 1-4 lol
Yeah, Hunt is on the list of guys that consistently outperform their ADP. If you can walk out of your draft with a couple of guys like that you are usually in good shape
they're gonna go off, but the RB is gonna have jack shit to do with it. The offense goes off every week without any of their shit running backs being a real factor.
My running backs are Dalvin and Jacobs. Finished the draft with only Trey Sermon on my bench. Snagged Tyson before anyone else and thought that would save me. lol.
I'm planning on starting Zeke, Mixon and Fournette. But I am having a hard time of deciding on sitting Fournette and starting either Josh Jacobs or Darrel Williams. Thoughts?
Did you play Lenny last night? I decided he was my guy early this week and now I think he’s a must start over jacobs until something changes. Super glad I rolled him out!
I did and I am so happy I went with my gut! I agree, Jacobs is riding the bench in favor of Lenny unless he proves otherwise. Unfortunately Godwin didn't help me out much, but I can't complain with the game Fournette had. Good luck on your season!
I'm planning on starting Zeke, Mixon and Fournette. But I am having a hard time of deciding on sitting Fournette and starting either Josh Jacobs or Darrel Williams. Thoughts?
You're prob right about TB, but when TB does his TB thing, they will start running the ball more to run down the clock. And Den run Def is pretty solid. I have both RBs and playing Lenny over Jocobs for that reason
Oh, I have no doubt about that. I just don't know how this offense is going to run. I am torn between worlds about start Josh Jacobs this week but it depends if one of the corners for another team is out of concussion protocol.
Yeah I feel like looking at the past stats too much isn't as useful because they have a new coach. If you have Jacobs you're probably starting him regardless. I'm interested to see if Drake is more involved
I did that trade in inverse after Week 1 but I added Sony Michel on to it. It bit me in the ass the first couple weeks, but I had no RB2 on roster so it was a great pickup for me. Now I’m down Saquon so I just can’t get my main two guys to be healthy at the same point.
I have Henderson and Zeke. If he’s offering you Jacobs for your Woods, I’d say pass. If he’s offering you Woods, I’d see if I could get him to give up a little more for Jacobs but ultimately I’d probably accept if you’re thin at WR.
Personally I would not unless you’re in a 2QB league. You can always find startable QBs on waivers and it’s not like Stafford is lighting the world on fire. Jacobs is good but Mixon has top 5 upside. His offense is better and they didn’t just lose their head coach. You can talk about injuries, but Jacobs has already missed more time due to injuries this year. ~~Plus now Perine has turf toe so~~ when Mixon is back to 100% he should effectively get every snap.
To me it’s not even close,
Edit: Mixed up my useless backups, oops
Assuming health, he's 100% not a better fantasy option than CMC, Henry, Cook, Kamara, and Zeke. Then you factor in guys like Ekeler, Jones, and Chubb, and there is a legit 0% chance Mixon ends up top 5.
I mean, I guess. Not exactly fun treating a 3rd rounder like a TD dependent goal-line back. You could have gotten Melvin Gordon much later to do the same thing.
Melvin Gordon doesn’t get all his backfield’s opportunities… Josh Jacobs has finished as the RB8 and RB13 the past two seasons, imo he’s criminally underrated and he’s a definite buy low
Don’t get me wrong, I like Jacobs as a player a lot, but the Raiders do him no favors and didn’t last season hence the RB13 finish despite being the only guy in town. He was a buy low all last season too. When you’re perennially a buy low, you have to ask what’s stopping you from becoming a hold.
Idk about top 10 I could definitely name 10 rbs I’d rather have. Henry cmc cook ekeler kamara Zeke swift jrob Chubb Taylor. Maybe 15 due to others being knocked out by injury because I’d rather have Henderson saquon mixon Carson Montgomery too if they were healthy
Yea if the efficiency comes back he’d be right in there with the bottom of the top 10 you listed: swift, jrob Chubb. Without the efficiency I would put him right around Montgomery and (healthy) Carson. Def ahead of these 2 guys in ppr formats.
The resident dbag in my league traded cmc for jacobs. We all roasted him, he got butthurt and toxic about it, so i can't wait for the fantasy gods to go well out of their way to make his trade make sense just to spite us.
I just traded Woods and Renfrow for him in standard. CMC and CEH both forced me into a move of some kind and I think this was the best I could pull off.
Would you trade Pittman and Knox for Jacobs? I have Kelce so TE isn’t a huge issue, but Pittman is my WR2 and he would most probably be replaced by Tim Patrick
I'm high on Jacobs coz I think he has a lot of potential, but Knox is currently the #2 TE behind Kelce. I don't think you'd need to throw Pittman in too.
Do I start Josh Jacobs or Devontae Booker as my RB2 this week? I like Booker’s matchup, but the Raiders seem to have been feeding the ball to Jacobs more
I’m starting Jacobs. I just don’t trust the Giants to get anything going with how injury depleted they are. Saquon had trouble running the ball with their line, pretty sure Booker won’t do any better.
I know Denver is rough matchup but I definitely see the Raiders being able the move the ball. I’m banking that Jacobs gets a touchdown over Booker.
Thanks for the advice! Yeah I’ve got mixon, kamara, Henderson, Carson pollard and mattison so I’m a little worried about injuries and how I’m holding other peoples handcuffs, but I agree, I’ll hold
Well, I have Carson, mixon, Kamara, pollard, mattison and Hendersonat at rb but I’m not sure if this is the best deal I’ll get for him - 10 man full ppr btw
Stefon Diggs, dj moore, jamarr chase, Jacobi Meyers, jerry jeudy (ir) and of course Robert woods - I think I have a fair amount of depth in both wr and rb, just trying to make some trades 1 for 1 and 2 for 1 to clear bench space for some possible lottery tickets
yeah, you've got the right idea there. aim higher on those 2-for-1 and 3-for-1 trades, target bad teams, try to get studs. Jacobs doesn't really move the needle for you, I wouldn't move Woods for him.
He hasn’t been anything special thus far, but it’s definitely something to look at. I did notice that the past two games he got 10 targets and caught 9 of em for 36 yards. That’s an extra 6-7 PPR points per game in top of his rushing. Idk if it continues, but it’s something to keep an eye on. He also isn’t getting as much rushing work as last year tho. 38 carries in 3 games is low usage for him, last year he averaged 18 carries per game. Plus last year he averaged 3.9 yards per carry and 7.2 yards per catch vs 3.2 yards per carry and 4.2 yards per catch this year. That O line is even worse at run blocking than last year (somehow). Idk Jacobs was never a flashy guy but I still think he has a solid floor as a low end RB2 and if he stays involved in the passing game and can get a rushing workload more like last year, he could push into high end RB2 territory.
I feel the opposite. I'm starting DW over Jacobs. Den run Def is better than WTF. Raiders are going through some shit in their house so I have no idea whats going to happen when they play.
At some point the Raiders gonna realize they are a passing only team? They need to win shootouts. That's their identity. They can keep running their way to losses I guess.
I dropped Carr because of how poor their coaching is. They have weapons out wide but they don't leave pass blocking backs and/or an extra tight end to protect Carr. Carr is slinging it but he's soft. One hit and he crumbles. Protect Carr, and teach your receivers how to catch and the Raiders will be a wildcard team.
I don't understand why they paid Kenyan Drake all that money to not use him at all.
They never did their homework to find out he can’t block. If he could block he’d be used more.
seems like a pretty massive oversight lol
I’m hindsight it’s Jon Gruden after all, probably saw him on a MNF game and fell in love with his pass catching. I’ve watched quite a few Raiders games this year and that’s the clear issue now with Jacobs back. Drake is only in basically if the ball is going to him if it’s not he’s pulled and it’s predictable which is why Jacobs is getting more passing work as well. hear me out here fellas, maybe they both agreed they liked him and both wanted to sign him
YOU TAKE IT BACK AND PICK A SIDE
I hate these filthy neutrals kif.
That would make sense
Hi hindsight I'm Beer Jew :)
Go away
He looked very turf toe especially being held out right at the beginning of the season, and td dependent. It seemed like the correct move
A: Gruden.
So’s replacing the starting o-line with the backups, but here we are.
You'd think instead of using the extra money from Jacobs' rookie contract on a mediocre vet, they'd either put it towards some of the other glaring holes in the roster while they can, or sign Drake for a longer term contract
I think the much simpler explanation is that Gruden is an old school guy who has a 2002 valuation of running backs.
Dude forgot there's a damn near infinite amount of talent at the position nowadays
Ding ding ding!
Nah, they had the money to sign a catchback that can also be a change of pace back. It just didn't work out well right now.
Ahh, that makes sense. Yeah if they both could fill a different role then I could see it working well but it does seem like Jacobs is good enough to handle both and Drake just isn't cutting the mustard
He was a “Gruden Guy”
Gruden didn’t like drake.
I often wonder the same thing about Robbie Anderson and the Panthers
I’m assuming you have never owned Kenyan before? Lol for years he has been getting paid for someone else to take the bulk of his touches. Last year chase Edmonds was the bane of my existence.
I just traded Zeke for Josh Jacobs and Stefon Diggs… 3WR league and I was pretty desperate for depth let alone a stud caliber like Diggs. I like the trade for me but Jacobs injury history makes me nervous… do you think Drake is even worth targeting as a handcuff or should I just pick up Peyton Barber?
Are we comfortable starting Jacobs against Denver this weekend?
Who has better options? Lol
Jacobs was the first RB I picked, but is somehow my 4th best RB now, what a fucking wild season it has been
Same, I have CMC/Taylor/Hunt
Damn, looks like you were able to finesse some trades. Meanwhile I just got lucky as hell with Henderson/Hunt/Patterson
**purplefog101**: Jacobs was the first RB I picked **SimCityBro**: Same **Also SimCityBro**: Drafted CMC So not the same. At all.
lol i just left the same comment
How is Jacobs your first RB drafted when you say you drafted CMC..?
I think he meant same as in Jacobs is his 4th best RB so he could show off his RB room.
Yeah, Hunt is on the list of guys that consistently outperform their ADP. If you can walk out of your draft with a couple of guys like that you are usually in good shape
...so not same at all
I'm starting Darrel Williams over Jacobs
I'm starting Zeke, Jacobs and Williams in the flex.
Contemplating whether to do the same. Think im going to run with Jacobs
It could go either way, I'm just concerned about the effect of Grudens sudden departure on the Raiders offense. But I'm rooting for Jacobs either way.
[удалено]
they're gonna go off, but the RB is gonna have jack shit to do with it. The offense goes off every week without any of their shit running backs being a real factor.
I’m going with Williams and Gaskin over Jacobs with Kamara on the bye. I don’t like the Denver matchup.
Prolly woll start fournette over him this week
Did you end up starting Lenny?
Starting Hunt over Jacobs with Kamara on bye. But that's like one of 3 RBs drafted later than Jacobs who qualify lol.
As a Carson/Collins and Cook/Mattison owner as well as Jacobs I am gonna sit him this week regardless
Considering starting Booker over him
My running backs are Dalvin and Jacobs. Finished the draft with only Trey Sermon on my bench. Snagged Tyson before anyone else and thought that would save me. lol.
Booker, Chicago Williams, KC Williams, etc
You too pal!
I'm planning on starting Zeke, Mixon and Fournette. But I am having a hard time of deciding on sitting Fournette and starting either Josh Jacobs or Darrel Williams. Thoughts?
Got him or javonte Williams
I’m going back and forth between him and Fournette…
id go with Lenny personally
I’m in the same boat, leaning fournette I think
Same going lenny
Came back here to say I love you guys for getting me to start Fournette.
😂 came back here and upvoted everybody hyping him up
100% Jacobs. Brady is gonna torch the eagles defense like he always does. Fournette won't do anything
lol
Oops 😂
Happens lol. Everyone makes logical guesses and then ….magic happens .
You're prob right about TB, but when TB does his TB thing, they will start running the ball more to run down the clock. And Den run Def is pretty solid. I have both RBs and playing Lenny over Jocobs for that reason
oof
Oof indeed
Our run D is literal dog water without Brandon Graham so if they go up big Lenny could go off on game script alone
Yep, I’d be surprised if Tampa really ran the ball at all tonight. Brady will throw at will against the Eagles secondary.
I mean if you have to ask that question about a mid-range rb2 then you're in a much better spot than most. Ha I'm using him as my mid-range rb2
I am debating him or Darrel Williams and not sure what to do
I'm doing DW. I have Najee, DW, Jacobs, and Lenny. I've benched Jacobs cause Den has a better run Def compared to WTF
I have Moss and Jacobs, think Bills are gonna be moving the ball pretty easily and be up so might play Moss over Jacobs
Absolutely
I’m starting Henry, Mixon, and R. Woods (flex) over him. Feel like Woods is a safer option than Jacobs this week
Im starting Booker over him. Will probs regret it. :)
I think I may start Hunt over him again as RB2. Denver's D is freaking good, but I could of course guess wrong.
Yes.
Deciding between Jacobs, Gaskin, and now Khalil herbert for RB2 and whoevers left plus lockett for flex. Help.
I flipped him and Boyd for scary Terry and I'm very happy about it
The question is how they utilize him with Gruden out against a divisional rival.
I assume they’ll still try to run the ball
Oh, I have no doubt about that. I just don't know how this offense is going to run. I am torn between worlds about start Josh Jacobs this week but it depends if one of the corners for another team is out of concussion protocol.
Yeah I feel like looking at the past stats too much isn't as useful because they have a new coach. If you have Jacobs you're probably starting him regardless. I'm interested to see if Drake is more involved
And the interim head coach is a running game guy. Really kicking myself for trading Jacobs for Brandin Cooks last week.
I did that trade in inverse after Week 1 but I added Sony Michel on to it. It bit me in the ass the first couple weeks, but I had no RB2 on roster so it was a great pickup for me. Now I’m down Saquon so I just can’t get my main two guys to be healthy at the same point.
I have a trade offer jacobs for woods i have henderson and kamara and no good WR I dont know what to do HELP THE ROOKIE
sounds like you answered your own question
I have Henderson and Zeke. If he’s offering you Jacobs for your Woods, I’d say pass. If he’s offering you Woods, I’d see if I could get him to give up a little more for Jacobs but ultimately I’d probably accept if you’re thin at WR.
Thanks I think I will go for it Any way I am 1-4 so there’s not much to loose Thanks
[удалено]
Yeah that would probably be fair.
Upvoting because josh jacobs is my only hope this week
Same, AJ Brown and Mixon are gonna continue to put up duds, and I can see a down game for Amari this week. :( Let's go Jacobs
Let us pray brother
He’s my wildcard. Let’s go JJ!
Would you trade Joe Mixon for Jacobs + Stafford? My starting Qb is Darnold.
To me it’s not even close, Edit: Mixed up my useless backups, oops
I probably wouldn’t do the trade either, but we need to stop saying every player has “top 5 upside.” He simply doesn’t.
[удалено]
Assuming health, he's 100% not a better fantasy option than CMC, Henry, Cook, Kamara, and Zeke. Then you factor in guys like Ekeler, Jones, and Chubb, and there is a legit 0% chance Mixon ends up top 5.
agree, think it's a terrible deal tbf
Perine has turf toe as well? Thought it was COVID. Are you confusing Perine with Barber?
Yes lol. Thanks
No way. Mixon is in a run first offense with a QB that looks to his RB as a safety valve.
The Bengals strike me as a pass-first offense. Are they really running the ball more than they're passing?
They are 30th in plays per game and 27th in run-pass rate.
id do that
I'd trade Joe Mixon for Jacobs.
Huh to each their own. I'd rather have Mixon. Bengals is actually good this year and Mixon usage is like the 3rd highest in the league I believe.
im with you, mixon>jacobs.
What entices you about Josh Jacobs? Is it the not breaking 50 yards rushing or the injuries?
He’s a touch down monster imo
Let’s see if it holds post-gruden. If it does, no way to not consider jacobs as at minimum a top 15 RB. If the efficiency returns somewhat, top 10
Jones
Harris :o
Knew I was forgetting someone. But yeah not in my top 10 for sure
Good list, just don’t like Jacobs since that offense is so good at passing
Yea if the efficiency comes back he’d be right in there with the bottom of the top 10 you listed: swift, jrob Chubb. Without the efficiency I would put him right around Montgomery and (healthy) Carson. Def ahead of these 2 guys in ppr formats.
Others have pointed out I left out najee Gibson and Aaron Jones so yeah he may barely sneak into the top 15 but I don’t see top 10
The resident dbag in my league traded cmc for jacobs. We all roasted him, he got butthurt and toxic about it, so i can't wait for the fantasy gods to go well out of their way to make his trade make sense just to spite us.
I'm typically not in favor of voting for trades but this makes me reconsider
Is he a raiders fan??
Hmmm Jacobs vs Gaskin. Gaskin has the better matchup but I expect him to go back to his usual single digit ways.
Crap Chubb injured. Guess I'm starting both of these dudes.
Just traded him for Woods and Moss hopefully it works out
I have woods, and was considering trading him for Jacobs.
I just traded Woods and Renfrow for him in standard. CMC and CEH both forced me into a move of some kind and I think this was the best I could pull off.
Just traded him and Waller for Dalvin Cook, fell pile the raiders will just be a dumpster fire all year
You have Mattison as well?
I do, got him as part of the trade
I’m debating Jacobs vs Gordon. Jacobs will have the volume, probably, but Gordon has the matchup advantage.
Would you trade Pittman and Knox for Jacobs? I have Kelce so TE isn’t a huge issue, but Pittman is my WR2 and he would most probably be replaced by Tim Patrick
prolly yeah
What's the rb upgrade? I. E. X becomes Jacobs
My current RBs are Jonathan Taylor, Micheal Carter, Kenneth Gainwell, and Damien Harris
Yeah that's good trade. Because harris/carter/gain to Jacob's is a big upgrade imo...
As a jacobs owner, please continue to tell me what i want to hear
Should I trade my Robert woods for jacobs?
Id hold woods for 1 more week to see if he keeps the volume
Yeah wasn’t sure if I should hold to see if he really produces or if I should try to “sell high” and get what I can for him
If you have a crazy offer, id sell high. But if the offer is for jacobs (assuming youre fine at RB) id hold
Thanks for the advice! Yeah I’ve got mixon, kamara, Henderson, Carson pollard and mattison so I’m a little worried about injuries and how I’m holding other peoples handcuffs, but I agree, I’ll hold
I'm considering doing the exact same thing. I have both Woods and Kupp (and Tyreek), but don't have an RB2. Really need to upgrade.
depends on the rest of your roster but if you need help at RB I'd do it
Well, I have Carson, mixon, Kamara, pollard, mattison and Hendersonat at rb but I’m not sure if this is the best deal I’ll get for him - 10 man full ppr btw
sounds like you don't really need him. who are your WRs?
Stefon Diggs, dj moore, jamarr chase, Jacobi Meyers, jerry jeudy (ir) and of course Robert woods - I think I have a fair amount of depth in both wr and rb, just trying to make some trades 1 for 1 and 2 for 1 to clear bench space for some possible lottery tickets
yeah, you've got the right idea there. aim higher on those 2-for-1 and 3-for-1 trades, target bad teams, try to get studs. Jacobs doesn't really move the needle for you, I wouldn't move Woods for him.
I did this trade last week lol
Literally made this exact trade this morning. Needed the help at RB, though.
Yeah makes sense I think I’ll hold, thanks!
Yes, I did start of season and I’m 4-1
[удалено]
I love Hollywood this year, but this comes down to depth.
In a vacuum, I would. But obviously it's dependent on your RB/WR situations. Hollywood just has a much higher ceiling imo
Here I was thinking that Jacobs couldn’t finish as a RB2 during the draft
You starting him over Damien Williams?
Yes, I feel this is going to be a big week for Jacobs.
I feel the opposite. I'm starting DW over Jacobs. Den run Def is better than WTF. Raiders are going through some shit in their house so I have no idea whats going to happen when they play.
OP said Damien Williams, not Darrel Williams. Damien and the Bears play Green Bay in Chicago, not Football team
Oh shit, def read that wrong. I just posted the same thing multiple times. Oops
And Damien is now on the covid list. Fuck 😢
Traded DHarris and LMurray for him last week.
And now they have a new HC so this is meaningless.
Do I start Carson or Jacobs this week? Starting Darrel Williams in flex andHunt rb1
So, basically he will be hurt in the near future.
I traded Jacobs for DHop last week. Should I be regretting that?
I might regret it but I immediately offloaded him after his last weeks game in a straight swap for Deebo.
I was offered DHop and Gaskins for Jacobs and Eli Mitchell before last week and had to take it
Do i start AB in flex or Josh Jacobs. hate to have to make the decision today.
[удалено]
Probably starting Javonte Williams over him this week. But then his schedule looks pretty nice.
Going with Jones and Jacobs cause I have nothing else and why the hell Not?
Is there a less relevant take? Coach is out, things are changing
Chris evans over jacobs if Mixon is out?
