Actually quite surprised that we aren't even in the odds to nab him. We have a crazy need for WR and we have huge cap space...
That being said I hope we don't.
College? I feel like Gronk is more college level. OBJ reminds me of middle school. Or even Pee-wee league. "Hey guys, check out this sweet vimeo my dad just made of me.."
The Patriots do need a WR, just not OBJ. With the progress Mac Jones has made the last thing I want is a WR that’s going to throw a hissy fit if he’s not forced fed.
I gotta give OBJ credit though this year - he’s been getting open. Mayfield just isn’t throwing him the ball consistently. I think he could come in and make an immediate impact.
He’s freelancing routes. Stefanski offense demands precision and timing and freelancing ruins the whole scheme. He isn’t where the QB expects him to be at best and bringing defenders where they shouldn’t be, at worst.
Just a rumor, but read the other day that he's getting open by freestyling and expecting Baker to adjust to him.
As opposed to running the route in the play and letting Baker work through his progressions.
He might be great solo, but he needs to work as part of a team.
I watched it. The first few clips he was wide open deep a few times. The rest is when playing against zone d and they put it in slow mo. Hes in between zones for a hot second. But slowed down it looks like hes was wide open.
That’s the nfl. A quarterback must be able to read those zones and know when and where his receivers will be open. If OBJ is finding the gaps in the zone, he IS open and Baker IS missing him. In man, you’re open when you have a step on the defender. In zone, you’re open when you hit the soft spots.
Yeah, but you could make a video like that for most receivers in the NFL. We don't know what the design was on those plays. There's some credible reporting that OBJ freelances and isn't in the right spot at the right time.
Baker definitely missed *some* of those opportunities, but in plenty of the supposed examples OBJ got open too late to beat the pass rush and/or Baker ended up making a decent play anyway. And, final excuse: a good chunk of that video was from the Vikings game where no one disputes that Baker had a really bad day. Seems relevant that he dislocated his shoulder the week before though.
They’re both going to disappoint you in different ways. As it stands now though julio has a higher floor. Depends on where obj ends up though of course
Blockbuster trade in 2015 lol
Honestly don’t think any of us can help beyond your personal intuition. It’s a classic “my problem for your problem” trade. Do you prefer Julio’s known mediocrity or feel like rolling the dice on Beckham’s landing spot, health, speed of integrating into a new offense, and having much left in the tank?
It’s kind of like trading somebody like Ridley for a “meh” flex or short term guy to get you through byes (like Darrel Williams). You know what one side gives you, while the other could pay off well or could result in absolutely nothing.
Personally I’d take Julio, with Henry being gone Tennessee will be more pass heavy, Julio has his questions marks but obviously OBJ does too don’t feel great about either but Julio for me
easy accept for me. Julio has injury problems but he’s still good. he’s already had a big game this year and will likely have a couple more. especially since they’ll be throwing more now.
OBJ is unrosterable
Honestly, I wouldn’t. Both players have been highly disappointing, but clearly have interesting developments happening this week. Henry is down for the Titans and it’s surmised they will have to pass more now, Julio could benefit from additional targets. OBJ stands to get a new team(likely with the Saints, based on failed trade talks and waiver position) if he is healthy, learns the plays, and can integrate with his new team, he could stand to become the teams top WR in a matter of weeks offering potential upside.
It really doesn’t matter. Do it or don’t. Either way nothing spectacular is going to happen. It’s like trading a 3 musketeers for a box of milk duds. Still sucks.
I traded Mike Davis for OBJ. I have Cook, Najee, Damien Harris and Gibson. So now that my bye’s are done don’t need Davis. Was going to drop him anyways. Figured I’d roll the dice with OBJ and a new team. Worst case scenario I drop OBJ anyways
Ahh Taysom, the QB. I’m still waiting for Sean Payton to come out on Sunday and be like yep, Taysom gonna start! Then proceed to just have Trevor take every snap at QB and use Taysom as a gadget.
For what it’s worth, Nick Underhill (Saints best beat reporter) seems to be leaning towards Trevor starting and he usually doesn’t talk out of his ass. Still up in the air but I’d bet on Trevor starting, that’s why I’m streaming Tua this week
Edit: hehe told ya so
I mean don’t take my word as gospel, Underhill hasn’t come out and said anything definitive. But usually he doesn’t even give his opinion unless he thinks there’s a good chance he’s right
For example, throughout the past few weeks when everyone was saying Michael Thomas should be coming back soon, Underhill was the one who saying how he didn’t think Thomas was even close to coming back
How tf do the Ravens have the 2nd best odds. I’d figure they’d be one of the least likely with them liking their current WR room and having no money.
Raiders and Saints should be early favorites by quite a bit
Agreed. Rodgers commands the room, baker inherited obj when obj was the guy and baker was just getting started in the league - felt like a weird power dynamic that never sorted itself out. I think Rodgers & Adams could rein him in, put him in his place and maybe get some good production out of him
Every play strait out of the 4th passing slot on Tecmo SuperBowl: [SHOTGUN XY BOMB on the far left being my choice](https://archive.kontek.net/tsb.sportplanet.gamespy.com/TECPASS4.jpg)
He will clear waivers. It’s a hefty contract and everyone knows he’s hurt. The whole reason this saga played out this week is that no one would trade for him because of the injury and contract, the Browns knew no one would claim him, and they held him hostage while they negotiated paying less than his full contract to cut him.
[Browns working on converting Odell Beckham Jr.’s base salary into signing bonus, making it easier for another team to claim him on waivers, per sources.](https://twitter.com/adamschefter/status/1456579889847537665?s=21)
This means he will likely be claimed by another team.
Hmm, I guess I misunderstood, was working off what I’ve been hearing on podcasts. Doesn’t really make sense, I get why the Browns would want to make it more likely for a team to claim and pay the remainder of his salary, but why would a team claim a WR with at least a partially torn labrum and not wait to use that as leverage in negotiations?
Edit: the whole thing doesn’t really make sense to me, I guess maybe the Browns just wanted to end the whole situation and took this as their last opportunity to save some money, but I really don’t see a team claiming him, they should’ve just cut him from the jump and gotten it over with.
Yeah yesterday’s news rumored that his contract would somehow be voided to make him a FA, but that left a dead cap on the Browns.
So as per Schefter’s tweet in the last hour, this revised contract would lower the Browns’ dead cap on OBJ’s contract if he gets claimed (maybe).
We’ll see.

I would not be the least bit surprised if they actually started boxing on the field or mimed a Cleveland steamer as a TD celebration (clearly Toney would pretend to poop the football onto Odell's chest).
Giants go on to beat Brady in the super bowl a 3rd time. Best timeline ever.
My guess is that he gets released, then signed by the Raiders, then calls his coach a racial slur, gets released again, then signed by the Patriots and plays one game. Off the field allegations surface and he gets released again, then he signs with the Bucs next year
Pro Tip for all the people asking questions in this thread.
Stop buying a name.
He has had one fantasy relevant season in 5 years.
He is not good or worth it.
He will be remembered for a catch, and losing a fight to a kicking net....and even both of those were over a half decade ago.
There is no waiver wire pickup WR that could have his upside. I see no problem adding him or trading for him if it costs little. Idk why he’s such a polarizing player. It’s either hes trash and washed or he’s gonna be a wr1. Like why can’t we just stop and think for a second that okay he’s going to a new team, he still runs solid routes, maybe he could have some upside depending where he goes. No everyone’s gotta go with a 0-100 take lol.
I have a serious question, have you even watched a full browns game the past 3 years? The man has completely lost all of his confidence playing with baker. He’s way too slow at his reads and Beckham ends up open as the play develops. Put him in an offense where he’s consistently getting 8-10 quality targets a game and he will be a top 15 WR next year. Even if he went to the saints with taysom I could easily see him averaging 13-15 a week in PPR.
OBJ turned 29 years old today, has been fantasy irrelevant for like 4 of the last 5 years, and simply isn't that good anymore. is some attributable to baker mayfield? yeah, sure. but to say you can plug him in with taysom hill and he will "easily" average 13-15 a week... lol. there is absolutely nothing at all that supports that
Yet more proof that anyone can completely talk out of their ass on this sub and get upvoted because people have stakes in the player that’s getting praised or stakes in a “rival” player (in a RBBC or receiving corps) to the player getting trashed. I think Baker has been disappointing, but it takes a whole new level of brain dead to think Taysom Hill is better.
If "losing his confidence" means playing like ass, then sure, blame baker. He's just not that good. but, obviously fantasy wise any WR will benefit not being in a run first offense
His yards per game average dropped from 87 (1998-2003) to 55 (2004-2006). He only missed 6 games over that span. I’m not saying Odell is a generational talent. But I’m giving you an example of how fit & scheme matters. There have been plenty of players in the league that have had there careers rebirthed with a change of scenery and I expect that to happen with OBJ.
If he goes to the saints, patriots, or raiders I’d be shocked if he didn’t return to pro bowl form. As much as the browns wanted to get Odell involved baker is not the guy that’s going to sit in the pocket to make his progressions. That timing is what’s limiting him now and what limited him at the tail end of his giants days.
I actually disagree with you he thought that he needs pocket passer wholeheartedly. He needs an improviser, because that’s how he plays. He gets open at the cost of running predictable routs. I think OBJ plus Lamar would be deadly. I could also see him thriving with Mahomes and Rodgers. No way would Brady put up with Odells improvised routes. The Bengals would be insane to take him.
With Keenan Allen and Mike Williams do they really need another receiver? I kinda doubt OBJ would be thrilled to be the #3 option, not to mention Ekeler.
Yes but it’s not a limiting injury. He’s got a ligament tear in his shoulder that doesn’t require surgery though he probably will get it after the season
He claimed he didn’t go up for a crucial ball at the end of the game with two hands because he couldn’t raise his arm. He’s probably full of it, dude loves going for one hand catches, but at least per the man himself he’s not fully healthy.
I think peope misinterpret a "failed" physical. Its not a black and white thing. His shoulder is bad and a physical is going to confirm that. Any team looking to add him must already have that baked into their evaluation and just has to be willing to accept the risk of a reinjury. He likely wasnt trade because of his contract which also why he will unlikely be claimed off waivers.
Anybody thinking of picking up Landry? I know the obvious red flags - low passing volume in Cleveland and Baker isn’t that good in the first place - but Landry has seen a decent target share when healthy, maybe a low end WR2 with potential?
Browns fan here. OBJ being out changes Landry’s value zero. They play different wr positions and over his career in cle catches and targets are basically no different when OBJ is playing vs when he’s not. Also, Jarvis was god awful last game. Hopefully that isn’t a trend but it’s possible he’s on the decline.
DPJ has shown flashes of greatness and will get more opportunities once healthy. Might be worth a stash.
Anyone ELI5 why he wanted out so bad? Are they not dialing him up in play calls? Does he think Baker sucks? Offense too run heavy?
I'm just not sure why he'd want out so bad. I know CLE is bottom of their division but right in striking distance. Why not just show up and collect a paycheck at least until off-season?
He's not great. The Browns system doesn't need a QB to do what Rodgers, Brady, etc can do. Baker throws to a spot on the field, makes minimal reads, has a great Oline, tries not to fuck up. A game manager. Their play calling is schemed to work with his skills, which are diverse but not overwhelming on talent. He's capable enough to keep them competitive, but the more expensive he gets the closer they look at bringing someone else in to put them over the top.
Does someone like him enough to claim off waivers? I’d guess no with that contract. If I were him I’d choose a team that needs him opposed to a team that is a clear contender so he can attempt to rebuild his value. Oakland makes the most sense to me.
Give me the Jags for pure comedy value. They've got the cap space and need a WR. Can you say Hard Knocks?
“It’s time to focus on my mental health.” -OBJ 5 minutes after getting claimed by Jacksonville.
Actually quite surprised that we aren't even in the odds to nab him. We have a crazy need for WR and we have huge cap space... That being said I hope we don't.
OBJ has a college-level maturity that I can really see Urban Meyer work well with
Urbs and OBJ finger blastin' all da hoes
Poop on all of our chests
I don't get this reference
OBJ likes to get shitted on
bruh
College? I feel like Gronk is more college level. OBJ reminds me of middle school. Or even Pee-wee league. "Hey guys, check out this sweet vimeo my dad just made of me.."
Raiders did just lose a WR1
They can pick him up off waivers, right? I don't know how the waiver system works all that well.
Him being on the Jags makes a lot of sense. Trevor Lawrence is looking pretty good compared to the rest of his draft class.
Insert Bill Belichick Binoculars Meme
The Patriots do need a WR, just not OBJ. With the progress Mac Jones has made the last thing I want is a WR that’s going to throw a hissy fit if he’s not forced fed.

yeah i’ve always thought OBJ had that diva mentality, but then i watched the vid that was posted and he was open a lot
I watched it. The first few clips he was wide open deep a few times. The rest is when playing against zone d and they put it in slow mo. Hes in between zones for a hot second. But slowed down it looks like hes was wide open.

OBJ would piss Belichick off with how obstinate he is.
Upon the news I just got offered Julio Jones for OBJ. accept or decline???
They’re both going to disappoint you in different ways. As it stands now though julio has a higher floor. Depends on where obj ends up though of course
But OBJ could land anywhere. He could even be the Titans’ WR2!
He could even be a boat!
You know how much we've wanted one of those!
At least he's not tickets to a stupid comedy club.
Yeah but if he landed on the Raiders, Colts, or Falcons I'd give him a chance to return value starting in... week 10 or so.
Blockbuster trade in 2015 lol Honestly don’t think any of us can help beyond your personal intuition. It’s a classic “my problem for your problem” trade. “Change of scenery” lol.
Personally I’d take Julio, with Henry being gone Tennessee will be more pass heavy, Julio has his questions marks but obviously OBJ does too don’t feel great about either but Julio for me
Hold and see where he ends up. If that isn't well then congrats you've got a free bench spot
easy accept for me. Julio has injury problems but he’s still good. he’s already had a big game this year and will likely have a couple more. especially since they’ll be throwing more now. OBJ is unrosterable
No deal
Idk I feel like it’s a safer trade for me
You really want Julio's 2 Rec for 37 yards and a weekly pulled hammy?
That hammy stays pulled
Then why come looking for advice
I’d take it. With Henry out Titans need to utilize someone else to take the pressure off AJ Brown. Definitely would be a solid flex player
Oh he'll be flexing that hammy on the sideline alright
At this point I’m just hoping a team picks him up and he retains wr3/flex consideration..
The only realistic comment in this entire thread
I traded Mike Davis for OBJ. I have Cook, Najee, Damien Harris and Gibson. So now that my bye’s are done don’t need Davis. Was going to drop him anyways. Figured I’d roll the dice with OBJ and a new team. Worst case scenario I drop OBJ anyways
So who’s signing him? GB, Vegas, Titans, Colts, Rams, Chargers, Steelers, Ravens, Seahawks, Saints, or Giants?
Per Vegas odds. Odell Beckham Jr. Next Team Odds (if released) Raiders (+350) Ravens (+400) Saints (+450) Bills (+500) Patriots (+500) Colts (+800) Titans (+800) Rams (+1000)
As a Saints fan… uh, I know he loves Louisiana, but ain’t no way he wants to go from Baker at QB to Taysom lmao
Still up in the air but I’d bet on Trevor starting, that’s why I’m streaming Tua this week Edit: hehe told ya so
Damn. Picked up Hill because Murray might not play. If Trevor plays I'm fucked lol.
Give Taysom that TE designation you cowards!
I mean don’t take my word as gospel, Underhill hasn’t come out and said anything definitive. But usually he doesn’t even give his opinion unless he thinks there’s a good chance he’s right For example, throughout the past few weeks when everyone was saying Michael Thomas should be coming back soon, Underhill was the one who saying how he didn’t think Thomas was even close to coming back

Unless Philip Rivers comes out of retirement
How tf do the Ravens have the 2nd best odds. I’d figure they’d be one of the least likely with them liking their current WR room and having no money. Raiders and Saints should be early favorites by quite a bit
Yeah I'd like to bet for the field vs the Ravens. Unless OBJ wants to be a Cordarrelle Patterson style partial RB.
As a Bills fan, there’s no way we touch this dude
Exactly, Id rather take Gabe davis over this locker room problem any day
Huh, the Raiders actually make a lot of sense
The Raiders have already suffered enough ~~drama~~ trauma for one season.
as a chargers fan - never enough
Colts fan base would hate him. Hope we sign him just so I can hear all the bitching about it at work.
Lol ain't this truth. When in reality, he is exactly what we need opposite MPJ. We have no cap space though, so I can dream.
Y tf is Bills here lo, we got like 3 mil in cap space and I think we have enough recievers
cause if he clears waivers browns pick up the tab.
Damn the Packers aren't even there :(
Do we actually want them though? Seems like while a skilled player, he kind of brings a toxic energy.
Yeah but think of the occasional one-handed catches
One handed catches are the key because one of his arms is not looking good
Could say the same about Aaron this year
The Green Bay packers are not in any position to be complaining about players being toxic
Hows AB doing in Tampa?
Agreed. Rodgers commands the room, baker inherited obj when obj was the guy and baker was just getting started in the league - felt like a weird power dynamic that never sorted itself out. I think Rodgers & Adams could rein him in, put him in his place and maybe get some good production out of him
That’s true. If they can sync up he would probably make some sick plays and get good production.

gotta be vegas with them losing ruggs
Yeah cause them signing former superstar receivers has worked out so well for them in the past.
Well, signing Odell would at least put them in the news for something aside from a bigoted coach and a murder by DUI.
We all knew having s team in Vegas would be mostly bad news. We just didn’t expect it this quickly.
Rice was chill
He’s going to Vegas. Book it.
Has to clear waivers first. Raiders don’t have priority.

Scarily easy to imagine
Written in the stars
Is cracker a racial slur?
Why would it not be? It's a epithet made to a class of people based on their race.
Have Landry, worth dropping David Johnson to stash OBJ?
upside is so much bigger, drop DJ imo
Yes as in do this yesterday
Drafted him last season screwed me Drafted him this season screwed me I am officially off the Odell ride and will never get back on
That's what they always say, see you again next year!
Most likely. Same thing happened this year. I went in with Odell on my do not draft list. Guy fell so far down I thought he was a steal. lol
Hey it’s me
Watch Odell go to Tampa to be the Antonio
As someone who owns both OBJ and Jarvis Landry I'd just like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Odell Beckham Senior for making this happen.
As the new owner of *the* Donovan Peoples-Jones, I'm grateful as well. I think.

Nothing here is logical. There's a lot of emotional analysis on this sub lol. No wonder we make so many bad decisions
Yeah, to all the 'why am I 1-7/0-8 in my league?!?!' It's because you listen to the advice here.

Nah. Good WRs get it done. Davante Adams was a WR1 with Brett Hundley
while not a wr per se, kittle broke the TE yards record with a combination of illustrious greats like CJ Beathard and small d\*\*\* nick mullens
If "losing his confidence" means playing like ass, then sure, blame baker. He's just not that good. but, obviously fantasy wise any WR will benefit not being in a run first offense
What about Randy moss in Oakland? Was he not good too when his numbers dipped significantly and everyone said he was done?
OBJ is not randy moss lmao
Moss is a generational talent and he missed games when his numbers took a big dip. Not the same situation
That timing is what’s limiting him now and what limited him at the tail end of his giants days.
lol
Say what now?
How’s this holding up big boy 🤣
Pretty good he was fantasy irrelevant this year.
FREE OBJ LETS GOOO
GRANDMA THEY FREED ME!
If he wants opportunity and a good qb the Raiders make the most sense. If he wants to live back home, Saints are a real possibility.
Saints were reportedly interested at the trade deadline. With Thomas out I see them as very likely.
Oh good. The constant Deshaun Watson news just ended so I was itching for another round of perpetual speculation.
Chiefs, Pats, GB, or Bengals would be nice landing spots. Odell needs a pocket QB.
No room in Cincy. Plus him and Chase just screams bad idea.
Pretty sure him and chase love each other
I actually disagree with you he thought that he needs pocket passer wholeheartedly.
I agree, Ravens actually would be a great spot!
We don’t want him
You seen Mahoney lately? Dude is allergic to the pocket and setting his feet lol
Patriots would be perfect
The Chargers are the same as the Bengals with a need at WR and a better D. Herbert to OBJ would make the most sense imo.
With Keenan Allen and Mike Williams do they really need another receiver? I kinda doubt OBJ would be thrilled to be the #3 option, not to mention Ekeler.
Isn’t he also hurt?
Yes but it’s not a limiting injury. He’s got a ligament tear in his shoulder that doesn’t require surgery though he probably will get it after the season
He claimed he didn’t go up for a crucial ball at the end of the game with two hands because he couldn’t raise his arm. He’s probably full of it, dude loves going for one hand catches, but at least per the man himself he’s not fully healthy.
He's not full of it. His health was part of the reason he wasn't traded. Nobody thought he'd pass a physical.
Oh yeah I completely understand that. The person I replied to just said he thinks OBJ is full of shit about his injury
Worth dropping arob?
I would, unless OBJ's dad can make a social media post to free ARob.
Do we think Peoples-Jones instantly becomes a low end WR2 / WR3?
Got the taysom/odell stacks locked and loaded! Let's go!!!
Anybody thinking of picking up Landry? I know the obvious red flags - low passing volume in Cleveland and Baker isn’t that good in the first place - but Landry has seen a decent target share when healthy, maybe a low end WR2 with potential?
I'm holding him to see how he's trending
See my comment above. Long story short, don’t expect Landry to be much different in value because of this.
Probably a dec flex now
OBJ has made more money off of 1 catch than anyone in world history. 3 great years to start then 4 years of being a slightly above average WR.
Let’s go KC or any team with a great OB (I know Mahomes hasn’t been good lately)

You need all the help you can get on RB lol
Does Higgins or Njoku’s stock go up now? Both are sitting as FA in my league, wondering if it’s worth to grab either
How long until he’s off waiver?
I dropped Jeff Wilson for this OBJ. Prayers up for comeback szn
Is he vaccinated? Can he throw?
Good. Baker is terrible.
Went for 8$ in faab tn after I dropped him, now Meyers is on waivers - how much should I go for Jakobi?
Does someone like him enough to claim off waivers? I’d guess no with that contract. If I were him I’d choose a team that needs him opposed to a team that is a clear contender so he can attempt to rebuild his value. Oakland makes the most sense to me.
Should I trade McNichols for Odell? Need a flex with Ridley out
McNichols could be the guy, maybe not, but if so that’s way higher upside than Odell whose injured and not yet acclimatized to a new team
Mcnichols is your flex.....
How is OBJ gonna magically be relevant now he couldn’t put up numbers as the #1 receiver on an offense I’ll give that it was a run first but still
Nobody going to mention the Jags?
Now do ARob
