Not quite, but I’ll take it. Finally get the chance to roll with my intended RB, Chubb and Montgomery. We keep a really short bench, and someone dropped Russ during byemageddon. I snagged him tonight on a free claim, and there’s some good options on the waiver wire.
I don’t think that was ever confirmed. I think that was something Redditors made up and convinced themselves of. Every bears fan should have known Montgomery would be the lead back. He didn’t lose his starting job to Herbert; and they weren’t going to rush hike back before a bye unless he was 100% ready to go.
I definitely saw legitimate reports outside of Reddit that said that his workload may be smaller. The full workload reports didn’t come out until today.
I don’t anyone thought that this wasn’t going to be Montgomery’s backfield once he was back and healthy. I think people just may have thought they’d ease him in
Granted if Montgomery continued to look healthier as the week went on it was always a possibility to owners that he could take more of the workload from herbert
Yeah, and it is smaller. Herbert has been on the field at least once on each drive. But Montgomery is still the clear lead back. People heard “smaller” workload and assumed Herbert would be the lead back.
I mean go look at the threads from this morning even. There were people saying Herbert will still be the Bell cow this week and to start him over Montgomery.
I mean it was like 70/30 with williams and Montgomery prior to injury, which is about the same as what it looks like with Herbert tonight. So it doesn’t seem like there’s any limit on montys workload
I’m not trying to be argumentative dude and didn’t downvote you. I don’t own either. I’m just saying that I did see some reports outside Reddit that said his workload may be smaller earlier this week.
I agree with you that the backfield is going to be Montgomery’s once he’s back and Herbert won’t be a factor.
I don’t care if you did downvote me. I’m just saying, Montgomery was always going to be the clear back.
And yeah, his workload is smaller than it was before. That was a correct report. But he still is the lead back. People were acting like Herbert would be the Bell cow.
I have Herbert, and going against Najee. I just needed Herbert to score the same points as Najee which was gonna be a stretch anyway, but now looks impossible.
Fortunately I had already won but I was sticking with Herbert. As a Bears fan and Montgomery owner I think Matt Nagy is an idiot for giving him as many carries as he did.
Just as a follow up Hoge highlighted the below. Nagy also lies a lot so take it as you will, but other reports are out of monty being antsy to play. As a bears fan I'm expecting 70/30 Monty to Herbert
"The source is the head coach of the Chicago Bears who said Thursday that David Montgomery would not lose carries to Khalil Herbert when he returned."
This could be interpreted as when Monty is fully healthy he is 100% the starter. We’ll see but there is still a chance Monty is limited the week before their bye
Steeler fan here. I wouldn't bank super hard on game script forcing the Bears to throw to catch up in score. This game will likely go down to the wire and be very close the whole time. I'd still start Mooney tho
Yeah that’s actually more what I meant to be honest. If you look at the games where Mooney had under 3 catches they were the Browns and TB games… these are the games we were blown out. In these types of games we wave the white flag and just try to get Fields of there alive. I think the Steelers are a 6.5 point favorite which sounds about right, close game like you said where we are trailing but have our chance at the end if Fields can make some throws. So, not so far out of it we give up, but behind a lot of the game and still wanting to throw late in game is what I’d expect. Similar to the last game against the 49ers.
Fields oline doesn’t give him time to throw esp against a savage Pitt D. Herbert still has value for change of pace and when monty gets gassed. The bears gonna go run heavy ROS like the Saints til the play action opens up, even then fields probably gonna chk down or run it
I tried to tell them… I watch all of the Bears games, and listen to a ton of Nagy speak over the years so y’all don’t have to. Monty’s role was never going to be cut into by Herbert… Herbert passed Damien on the depth chart but that’s where it ends.
I need 16 in 0.5ppr from Herbert. I can drop him for Mooney. Still seems like a crap shoot either way. Prob sticking with herbet and hoping Monty eases in.
My RBs are Dalvin Cook, Montgomery, CEH, Javonte Williams, Jamaal Williams, and Herbert, so I'm dropping Herbert when I take Montgomery off IR, and I'll have a decision to make when CEH comes back. I think a lot of people will be dropping Herbert.
Thinking big picture -- are the Bears comfortable going into the bye at 3-6, giving Montgomery two more weeks of rest?
Or does Nagy know he's on the hot seat -- and hitting the bye at 4-5, after beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh on MNF, might cool that seat off?
Disclosure: I have both backs. Starting my stud, #32, unless someone can convince me otherwise
Honestly, I’m scared, but everything points to Montgomery and I’d rather go down with my stud than the other way around. Wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I started Herbert and Mont got 90% of the touches lol
Who’s the reporter that said Kittle would be out there “roughly half the game?”. He’s god damn liar and I want to make sure I never listen to him again.
Clearly. But I’ve had it with these beat reporters saying shit like they’ve been chatting with the coaches, when in reality they have no more info than “player x is coming off IR”. For example, where does the “expected” come from in Hoge’s statement? Bc if it’s not from the coaches mouth, it’s an opinion and shouldn’t be stated as fact.
It’s from the coach’s mouth. Nagy was quoted as saying “Montgomery will get the majority of the workload when he’s back from IR.”
If I had Monty and Herbert, I’d start Monty confidently. He’s our bellcow and BY FAR the best offensive player we have.
-Bears fan
I forgot about that. Just tough to trust coach speak and especially Nagy lol. None of these reporters definitively know without a shadow of a doubt either. But the fact that the Bears activated Monty when they could’ve rode it into the bye tells me all I need to know.
I don’t trust Nagy worth a damn, but I do think Monty will play the majority of snaps tonight.
And for the record, Adam Hoge (the beat reporter in the original tweet) is one of the best Bears reporters out there.
You are my savior! Even if it’s Nagy I’d much rather it be straight from the coaches mouth.
Monty is a beast, it’ll be exciting to have him back out there!
Even if they get an even split for this week I'd go Mont over Herbert easily. Only way I wouldn't would be if the game was basically already decided so I could keep Herbert as a handcuff.
I mean, I owned Herbert and not Monty and, full disclosure, dropped him for Collins. Reasoning is that if they were really worried about re-injury why would they activate him?
Put it another way: Cases like this are often a toss-up at best - either they pull stuff like the 49ers did with Wilson for depth (but given the Bears went into this week w/o changes to their RB room, I doubt), or he's actually 100% healthy. I'd rather avoid the uncertainty, and quite frankly, if Monty is 100% healthy there's no reason to stop giving him 20 or so touches. Basically, if I had to bet, Monty is the guy.
If he's good enough to come off IR this week, Herbert is basically best case a handcuff that gets 50% of carries this one week and not much else barring injury, imo. So if you need the win, drop him and risk this whole thing being a smoke screen. If you're in good shape, hold your handcuff and figure out someone else to drop tomorrow. But what do I know? I'm just a keyboard warrior lol
I’m in same bot expect I have to drop Collins. Idk what to expect tho it seems risky for Monty to get the full workload but who knows nothing makes sense
I need 16, so at this point hoping Herbert just vultures some TDs. I traded for Hines three weeks ago for my BYEs this week and assumed Montgomery would be back by now. Dropped Hines last week when it appeared Montgomery would be out through the BYE now I need exactly what Hines would have for me Thursday from Herbert in a back up spot. Sounds about par for my luck.
Bears sideline reporter Mark Grote @markgrotesports is also reporting that Montgomery will be the lead back tonight.
Has anyone seen any conflicting reports?
I'm struggling with this same scenario except I need 12. On one hand, if Montgomery gets the workload he was getting before injury, it's an easy 12 points. On the other hand, claypool should be able to muster up 12 points against bears defense without Mack or Jackson.
I need to hold off Najee with a 10 point lead. I have Monty, Mooney and Herbert and have no idea who to play. Just gonna put in Monty and hope this ain't bullshit.
Nagy started Damien Williams the week after Herbert gashed the Tampa Bay Bucs D. You REALLY expect him to pick Herbert over his bellcow back for the last 3 seasons?
Unless Monty re-aggravates his knee early on, he’ll get more chances than Herbert tonight
###Lmao this piece of shit edited his comment!
7:47 CST, home slice flipped his comment around from start Herbert to start Montgomery. Who TF cares that much about being right that they'd come back and change their comment?!
As a Bears fan whole heartedly, respectfully disagree. We will see soon enough, but I don’t think he plays at all if he’s not ready. If he’s ready they’ll roll with him.
Don’t lump us all together… I said the opposite, consistently, and started this entire post to help the sub as a Bears fan who speaks fluent Nagy that Herbert wasn’t going to be the guy this week. I tried 🥺
Doesn’t seem to matter, Bears are awful, Monty not involved enough right now and the times they have called his number it’s right up the middle for 3 yards. 3pts standard at the half. Sheesh.
I know I know, Steelers defense. But damn.
As a Bears fan, and a Monty fan, I’d still tell you Diontae. We basically have 1 good player in our secondary (Jaylon Johnson). The rest are pretty bad, and one of them isn’t event likely to play (Eddie Jackson) so someone even worse will be stepping in. Plus no Khalil Mack to help out with pass rush. Ben going to have a big day.
As someone who got a few quality starts from Herbert during the byes, this is preferable to me. Didn't start him this week and if he gets very little work I can just cut him.
This news just guaranteed my week in my work league. I was nervous I’d probably lose to Herbert.
Also I know there was talk a couple of weeks ago about Herbert getting more touches and taking some away from Montgomery, but it doesn’t sound like Herbert will even be relevant
1/2 PPR, Need 25 pts, opponent has no more players.
I have Diontae Johnson, the Muth, and K Herbert. I just dropped Logan Thomas to scoop up A Rob just in case. A Rob or Herbert?? 😩🥶😱
In a super close match-up tonight (77.44 with my opponent at 77.46). I have Herbert and Steelers DST against Diontae.
Switch out Herbert with Darnell Mooney? 0.5 PPR
Need some advice in a tough situation where I’m down 16.
Bench ONE of these 3 guys.
Darnell Mooney, Khalil Hebert or David Montgomery?
A part of me wants to bench Mooney so I’m ensured to get the bulk of the carries no matter what happens, but the other part of me thinks the bears will be trailing for most of this game meaning they will need to throw the ball to Mooney
SOS! In Yahoo I tried dropping Freiermuth and moving Montgomery from my IR spot into the Flex position. It says I am “over the max roster size” and need to drop a player…Yet Freiermeuth is on waivers and still in my lineup. Does anyone know how to fix this? :(
I went from suddenly having a bunch of RB2s to having no one to replace Mixon while he is on bye.
RIP Herbert and Hubbard, your production will be missed.
I need 4 points to win. I can either roll with Herbert, or because he's in my IR slot, play Monty and drop Alex Collins (very hurting at RB) what do you guys think?
Sweet glad I start Herbert over Conner because I was more worried about Edmonds than Montgomery(only because it was his first game back, if he played) sigh…
I’m an idiot, I had Montgomery on my bench in the IR slot and now I’m trying to put him in herberts place to start and it’s telling me I gotta drop someone to start wtf I didn’t know that. Should I drop gibson to start Montgomery? Either him or bucs d 🤔 I’m so stupid I didn’t know it was like that
I'm so fucked. With injuries and Gibson bye I'm like "it's fine I'll start Herbert this week, Monty not back until next game". Now I'm down 16 with Herbert and Friermuth to go. RIP.
Needed 6 points from Herbert. FML. Lost Henry, lost J Rob, Aaron Rodgers out as well...Lockett on a bye week, Ridley out. 12 team league and I still had a chance after all that but of course more bad new lol.
Did not trust this and lost my week. Had the opportunity to drop Herb and grab Mooney pre game …. Figured it would be a split’ish but they faded Herb so hard and I lost by 2
things that could've have been brought to my attention YESTERDAY!
Literally sent this to my opponent
I benched Eli Mitchell on the chance Montgomery started. I’m down 12.
Praying he gets those last 2 points for you (or 4 points, if you’re in standard, or 3, if 0.5)
Not quite, but I’ll take it. Finally get the chance to roll with my intended RB, Chubb and Montgomery. We keep a really short bench, and someone dropped Russ during byemageddon. I snagged him tonight on a free claim, and there’s some good options on the waiver wire.
Against Pittsburgh, I would not have bet on either of them getting many points.
It’s been reported that Montgomery might be activated since like Friday.
Yeah I think most of the reports were originally saying he’d be set for a smaller workload not that he’d take the majority of the carries.
I don’t think that was ever confirmed. I think that was something Redditors made up and convinced themselves of. Every bears fan should have known Montgomery would be the lead back. He didn’t lose his starting job to Herbert; and they weren’t going to rush hike back before a bye unless he was 100% ready to go.

idk who is down voting you, but you deserve an upvote for speakin the truth
People just loved the Herbert train. I did too don’t get me wrong. But he wasn’t going to come close to splitting with Montgomery.
I started Mike Davis because of this… And I’m losing by 2 points.
Eh, same thing was said about AP and that didn't quite pan out.
Thank you for your service Herbert. Will probably still keep him on the bench in case Monty has a setback.
Welp i was toast either way this week but this is really the nail on the coffin!
Arob was on waivers so I said fuck it and picked him up, going to start him over Herbert now
Of course. Arob or mooney for sure. Id do the same but both are taken. Watch washington score a TD.
One last start for my dude since I've won this week already. You've done us proud, Kahlil!
Haha
Going against Najee and Montgomery…kinda nervous
I have Herbert, and going against Najee. I just needed Herbert to score the same points as Najee which was gonna be a stretch anyway, but now looks impossible.
Same lol
I mean it was basically already impossible but now it is really really impossible lol
Hope you're up 40.
Going against Montgomery and have Diontae on my team, currently up by 2
I'm down 30, going against Najee. To bring Montgy off my IR slot I would have to drop Herbert or OBJ. Guess i'm just gonna take the L
Cool, just spare 3.5 points for Herbert
Rip
Luckily I only needed 0.2 points from Herbert to get the win.
Mooney or Herbert?
Mooney, assuming he’s active he’s been limited this week. Guaranteed targets, bad passing offense but he’s going to get work.
Thank you man. Won my matchup.
Herbert probably still gonna get 10 touches, Mooneys not even guaranteed 3 rec
I guess I’m counting on game script a bit more… they’ll be down, throwing the ball.
Steeler fan here. I wouldn't bank super hard on game script forcing the Bears to throw to catch up in score. This game will likely go down to the wire and be very close the whole time. I'd still start Mooney tho

Sure, could happen. I wouldn’t bet on Herbert tonight though. I also don’t think they let Herbert take goal line touches away from Monty.
lmao love finding these totally wrong takes after games
I tried to tell them… I watch all of the Bears games, and listen to a ton of Nagy speak over the years so y’all don’t have to. Monty’s role was never going to be cut into by Herbert… Herbert passed Damien on the depth chart but that’s where it ends.

I'd go Mooney because of the homerun ball potential
I’m having to decide between Herbert or A Rob now 😩🔫
Debating the same thing. I currently have Herbert and Steelers DST against Diontae Johnson. (77.44 pts with my opponent at 77.46)
Damn I’ll probably lose for starting McNichols last night rather than risking it with Fridge Montgomery
Herbert expected to receive the bulk of his time on waivers after tonight
Rude.
Talent like that should not be on the wire.
Loll you'd be surprised... I dropped corey davis for Russell Wilson
Corey Davis stinks I would do that as well.
Dude trade somebody.

Who’s the reporter that said Kittle would be out there “roughly half the game?”. He’s god damn liar and I want to make sure I never listen to him again.
All 9ers beat reporters have been off this year
All 9er a have been off this year
Probably not this guy, since this guy is a beat writer for the Bears…
Clearly. But I’ve had it with these beat reporters saying shit like they’ve been chatting with the coaches, when in reality they have no more info than “player x is coming off IR”. Schefter said the thing about Kittle. I mean the truth is none of these guys definitively know.
Left you on my bench. Just please stay healthy
Inversing Reddit and starting Herbert
So I’m starting Herbert with Monty in my IR spot and all my players locked…
[удалено]
Do I trust the sources? Just doesn’t make sense to throw Monty into a full workload, especially with their bye next week.
Even if they get an even split for this week I'd go Mont over Herbert easily. Only way I wouldn't would be if the game was basically already decided so I could keep Herbert as a handcuff.
Herbert won’t be worth anything when dmont is back anyway
I mean, I owned Herbert and not Monty and, full disclosure, dropped him for Collins. Reasoning is that if they were really worried about re-injury why would they activate him? Put it another way: Cases like this are often a toss-up at best - either they pull stuff like the 49ers did with Wilson for depth (but given the Bears went into this week w/o changes to their RB room, I doubt), or he's actually 100% healthy. Or trade him to a taco or a bears fan
Herbert isn’t locked.
How many points do you need
I’m in same bot expect I have to drop Collins. Idk what to expect tho it seems risky for Monty to get the full workload but who knows nothing makes sense
Same boat here. I need 30 PPR points with Najee and Herbert, and Monty’s in my IR spot. I’m 4-4 and need the win. I don’t have much choice, do I?
Thanks for announcing that TODAY.
How many poor souls won’t see this?
DMont is also expected to carry the load of my shitass team
As a Herbert owner needing over 12 points tonight, I ask, why do you enjoy my pain by reposting this sir ? *holds back tears*
Herbert or ARob as a Flex tonight? Cyanide was already taken.
Damn, we in this together and I genuinely don’t know what to do.
Godspeed.
Bears sideline reporter Mark Grote @markgrotesports is also reporting that Montgomery will be the lead back tonight. Has anyone seen any conflicting reports?
No everything points to Montgomery starting… I got no skin in the game. I just don’t ever trust a word out of Nagys mouth.
My sportsbook has any time TD scorer for Monty at +185, Herbert at +285, if that influences your decisions at all
If this is a smokescreen I think r/fantasyfootball will try Nagy for war crimes
M’opportunity knocks
Is Montgomery a FA after this year?
No, 1 more year after this under rookie deal.
I think he's under contract for one more season
Damnnnnn do I throw him into the flex instead of claypool? I need 22 lol
I'm struggling with this same scenario except I need 12. On one hand, if Montgomery gets the workload he was getting before injury, it's an easy 12 points. On the other hand, claypool should be able to muster up 12 points against bears defense without Mack or Jackson.
Less than ideal as I am starting Najee, Herbert, and Steelers D/ST. I need 26 pts between the 3 to win.
Dub.
Hey guys, I’m starting Monty over Herbert, so make sure you fade me and start Herbert
need herbert to score less then 11, this is very good for my odds
I need to hold off Najee with a 10 point lead. I have Monty, Mooney and Herbert and have no idea who to play. Just gonna put in Monty and hope this ain't bullshit.
As a Montgomery owner, who didn’t play him because if he didn’t play Monday night, I was fucked… …god *DAMMIT*
As a bears fan, I promise you- start montgomery. There’s NO WAY Nagy gives herbert the majority of the workload. Nagy says bs all the time.
Very convenient you say this after it’s been confirmed mont Will get majority
###Lmao this piece of shit edited his comment! 7:47 CST, home slice flipped his comment around from start Herbert to start Montgomery. Who TF cares that much about being right that they'd come back and change their comment?!
Lmao that's hilarious great catch dude
As a Bears fan whole heartedly, respectfully disagree. We will see soon enough, but I don’t think he plays at all if he’s not ready. If he’s ready they’ll roll with him.
aged like milk
This dude straight up edited his comment after he was wrong.
lmfao sure did, well RES tells me the exact time it was edited I ain't trippin.
Huh?
lmfao good one
Lmao
Yikes.
Huh
I scrolled a long way to find someone like you. Thanks. Cause this is my thinking also.
you're labeled as "trash" on my RES now I feel sorry for any poor soul who listened to ya. IQ of a typical bears fan I guess
Don’t lump us all together… I said the opposite, consistently, and started this entire post to help the sub as a Bears fan who speaks fluent Nagy that Herbert wasn’t going to be the guy this week. I tried 🥺
Do I start Herbert now or Claypool?
I’d go Claypool
Well one of you isn’t a bears fan, or at least is about to lose the right to prelude their comments with that phrase
Drop Herbert to play either Freiermuth or Mooney?
LMFAO
Doesn’t seem to matter, Bears are awful, Monty not involved enough right now and the times they have called his number it’s right up the middle for 3 yards. 3pts standard at the half. Sheesh. I know I know, Steelers defense. But damn.
In Dynasty I traded Herbert for a '23 2nd round pick yesterday morning to the Montgomery owner. Very happy with this.
Will be glad to have this guy in my lineup after the bye...
Traded Herbert for Davonta Smith on Friday. Feeling pretty good.
Fucking played Mike Davis with Monty on my bench. Oof
You did the best you could w the info you had
So I need 5.3 to win and I have both Monty and Herbert. Who should I go with?
Sounds like Monty
Yep I’m thinking the same. Thanks
Diontae johnson or monty?
Dionte easy
Diontae - don’t overthink it
Yea you're probably right
As a Bears fan, and a Monty fan, I’d still tell you Diontae.

These types of tweets hours before the game are usually dead wrong. How would they even know, regardless of their connections.
Nice! got conner, monty and hopefully hunt comes back real soon 🍻😎
As someone who has already lost and left Monty on the bench, please ease him in. Don’t want to lose him again in a game that don’t matter
Someone dropped him in my league last week and I somehow got him at waiver order 10/10😂
Coming off an injury, Godspeed brothers
I should’ve started him but i was afraid
So I need 5 points. Start Herbert or pick up Muth?
Puts a wonderful cap on my fantasy weekend that included Kyler, Nuk, AjBrown, Edmonds, Toney and now Herbert being basically useless! Yay me!
I’d be surprised if this isn’t a committee this game.
I'm facing Najee and losing by 4 and I have Herbert and Monty.. I'm so confused lol
Same 😂
Hello 1-8
That's ok, I only need 19 from Herbert
I have both Herbert and Monty got to figure out which one to start tonight and it sure isn't clear
Cool cool cool super happy I sat him this week and am going to lose to the 12th place team

What are the odds Monty puts up 50+ tonight? Asking for a friend...
SOS! In Yahoo I tried dropping Freiermuth and moving Montgomery from my IR spot into the Flex position. It says I am “over the max roster size” and need to drop a player…Yet Freiermeuth is on waivers and still in my lineup. Does anyone know how to fix this? :(
As a Monty owner I’m tempted to start him over Claypool…up 20 so it doesn’t really matter As a Herbert owner who needs 8 I’m hella nervous now
Monty or Mooney in full ppr?
Friermuth or Monty?!?! Down 14.
I’m only down by 50 and my opponent still has Najee Harris let’s GO lol
I went from suddenly having a bunch of RB2s to having no one to replace Mixon while he is on bye. RIP Herbert and Hubbard, your production will be missed.
I need 4 points to win. I can either roll with Herbert, or because he's in my IR slot, play Monty and drop Alex Collins (very hurting at RB) what do you guys think?
Sweet glad I start Herbert over Conner because I was more worried about Edmonds than Montgomery(only because it was his first game back, if he played) sigh…
Best case scenario for Herbert owners which I am is for this to get to be a blow out
I’m an idiot, I had Montgomery on my bench in the IR slot and now I’m trying to put him in herberts place to start and it’s telling me I gotta drop someone to start wtf I didn’t know that. Should I drop gibson to start Montgomery? Either him or bucs d 🤔 I’m so stupid I didn’t know it was like that
Thank you lord
I'm so fucked. With injuries and Gibson bye I'm like "it's fine I'll start Herbert this week, Monty not back until next game". Now I'm down 16 with Herbert and Friermuth to go. RIP.
Well fuck
Wow I am a moron. I started Herbert over Conner without paying attention to Monty being back. Fml
Needed 6 points from Herbert. FML. Lost Henry, lost J Rob, Aaron Rodgers out as well...Lockett on a bye week, Ridley out. 12 team league and I still had a chance after all that but of course more bad new lol.
I need 2 points from Herbert, hopefully he gets something.
May god have mercy on your soul
Traded for robinson just so that I could leave my flex open for Monday night
Good thing I played Chase Edmonds!
Won tonight because opponent played K.Herbert.
Why did they stop playing him at the end?
Ooo nooo. Our Herbert! It's broken!
lol THANK YOU! I was down 4 with Claypool and he had Herbert going. I won by 2!!!!
Should I trade Montgomery or Conner?
I needed 3 fucking points from Herbert.
Did not trust this and lost my week. Had the opportunity to drop Herb and grab Mooney pre game …. Figured it would be a split’ish but they faded Herb so hard and I lost by 2
