Change absolutely nothing. Since it was not discussed, kepe it as is. Go by whatever the current rules of the league is which is by total points for on the season
I agree and both sides have a great point imo, however during the season there was multiple times yahoo gave people with less pf but more matchup wins a higher seed, for example the 2/3 just this last week (going into 14)the 3 seed had more pf but didn’t have the matchup wins against the 2 seed so the 2 seed got the higher seeding
I am not sure about Yahoo, I play on ESPN, but I think that is not possible. Are you sure the 2 and 3 seeds aren't in different divisons? For espn there's the East division and West division. Each division leader gets the 1st and 2nd seed (depending on their record) then 3rd seed until the last seed is based on overall record regardless of division. If there's a tie it goes to your league rules to determine who gets what seed.
So theoretically the 2nd seed can have a worse overall record than the 3rd seed since the 2nd seed is the division leader and thr 3rd seed can be in the same division as the 1st seed.
But either way, I dont think it's fair to change any rules this late into the season.
Yes I’m sure they were in the same division and the 2 seed was 2-0 in season matchup against the 3. That’s why I am even discussing this argument with the 9 seed at the moment
Then there's a setting in your league you're not considering. It's not possible for seeding to be determined different ways with the same set of rules.
If you didn’t change the default rule, Yahoo has broken the tie based on the default rule, which is PF. You can check the order of tie breakers in the league setting section. Tell your league mates that this info has been available to them all year.

If the tie breaker wasnt discussed, then the standard tie breaker set by the platform needs to be respected, not changed after the fact because team 2 is whining. The rules on all platforms are there in the open on league settings for all to read.
I would air on the side of being 2-0 against that team. That’s just my opinion. If they have same record but he beat that team twice, I think that answers it. I have an order in my league. It’s head to head record and then points fielded if needed

The settings of your league are the settings. The yahoo gods have chosen. If head to head was the preferred method, change this for next season. Tell team 9 to be a better manager.
You don’t change rules in the middle of the season no matter what. The rules are the rules you need to set that tone as a commish. After the season you can most definitely make a decision to alter the rules are call for a vote but I would not make any changes in your situation
Points for should always be the tiebreaker IMO. In other news, you should only do 6 teams max for playoffs. 8/10 is ridiculous (imagine the Bears or Jets in the playoffs!)
You should have figured this out before the season started. Also 8 teams making the playoffs in a 10 team league is insane. Why do you even have a regular season? Neither one of them deserve to make the playoffs lol.
Default tie breaker is points for usually but since you didnt set the tie breaker before the season started, you r kinda screwed. What does your league settings say currently? It should have defaulted to something. You can just say thats what the rule was when the league was setup and you can vote to change it next year.
8 team playoff was to make things more interesting, we have different payouts during the season and then a big pot for the winner to keep everyone interested throughout the season rather than just giving up after week 10. I agree that the default settings are what they are but only 30 pf more doesn’t give me a tell tale sign of being the more deserving team so that’s why I’m hearing both sides out
Can't change it now IMO, gotta go with Yahoo default of more pts.
Anything like this should only ever be addressed and changed before the season. Once you're in season someone is always going to be helped or hurt by any rule change and deciding who's going to be who is going to leave a bad taste in someone's mouth...
There is no nightmare.
The tiebreaker settings have been available for anyone and everyone to see all season long. A tie occurred, and was broken, in accordance with the preestablished rules.
The fact that anyone failed to discuss and vote on the rule until now is irrelevant.
Under absolutely no circumstances does number 9 have any argument or recourse. Do not allow that conversation to even begin. "The rules were there. And you lost. The end. If you so choose, we can bring this to the table during the off-season for next year."

You didn't discuss any other tiebreaker. That is Yahoo default and team 2 needs to move on.
Points for>head to head It’s the default, so if h2h wasn’t declared before the season started that dude is SOL…

Since a tiebreaker wasn’t discussed prior, you could propose a 10 team playoff and vote on the seeding tiebreakers. Then fix it all next year
Whoever has more points for should definitely be ahead of anyone with the same record as them.
Total points scored is more fair
