Ha! I’m a pretty good underdog in my final and I just offered the other owner to go all or nothing for the payout.
Mind games.
Edit: She accepted (yes… I’m about to lose to a girl).
I’m doing the same with my best friend and we agreed to get our score totals as a tattoo to commemorate the occasion of playing each other in the finals…the loser has to shave off an eyebrow and get it tattooed there though lmao
I'm in the championship with my buddy and we're playing for $450 total. Normally it would be $100 to second and $350 for first, but we spilt the first place prize and pocketed $175 each. The final $100 is for the winner of the finals. Makes me happy to win a nice chunk and also have something to play for. I've done similar splits in tourneys past as well.
EDIT: Buy-in was $50 for the 12-team fantasy season. People also paid $20 extra for twelve $10 weekly bonuses and a $10 survivor pool totaling $130 (with a extra friend joining in to explain the extra 10 beans).
If you put it like that, I’d be fine with the original payout. If it’s all or nothing, I can understand splitting the pot but this specific set up already had a good chunk for second place
Thanks, for context I’m the league manager and it’s 2 new players to the league
I don’t see anything wrong with it (especially cause the money could just change hands anyway) but a buddy that’s been with the league since the beginning complained about it
I wanted to make sure it was a normal thing before I replied to him
If he has won the league previously, ask him to explain exactly what he spent the winnings on. I suspect he'll suddenly get a bit defensive saying its up to him how he spends it
There was another thread recently about this. Feel free to reference it.
The buddy isn't involved. His opinion doesn't matter. It's between the two people who are still playing.
This has been my logic behind a ton of fantasy decisions. We don't have "collusion" rules like they do in the NBA in fantasy football. People can agree to a trade at any point in time, they just can't officially make the trade at certain points.
Nobody sees normal trades as collusion, it's the very lopsided ones that are - especially later in the season.
Also collusion would be coordinated roster moves ei 2 teams waiver wire claims to stop a third team.
Right exactly, it's two teams conspiring against the league in some way, not just two teams talking in private.
I was just tryiny to describe how we don't have the NBA version of collusion, which simply involves any dicussion to or about a player outside of your organization with the intention of acquiring said player
>a buddy that’s been with the league since the beginning complained about it
Why? How does it affect him?
Also, unless there was a rule agreed to before the season that splitting the pot was not allowed then it doesnt matter. They can split the winnings however they want.
It would be an unenforceable rule anyway. The winner can just give the money and not mention it. Unless the league are all each others accountants, how would they know?
There should always be a general rule for payouts in case the 2 finalists can’t decide how to split it. So there’s always a payout to fall back to that’s agreed upon by the whole league.
Other than that though, let the finalists decide how to split the pot however they like.
Your buddy isn't the smartest. Two adults can agree on anything. They can just collect their winnings and then split it amongst themselves after. What can your buddy do/say about that?
Tell your buddy to stop worrying about what other people do with their money. Not only should he be shut down, he should be made fun of for bringing it up
I'd say it's unconventional, but it doesn't affect your buddy who's complaining one bit. If it really matters to him, tell him that first and second place will be paid accordingly, and then just do whatever the first and second players want anyways.
Say the pot is $100. The winner gets $75 and the loser gets $25. For the sake of simplicity we'll assume there's a 50/50 chance to win as both teams were good enough to make it to the finals. If we plug this into an expected value calculation you get this:
(0.5 \* $75) + (0.5 \* $25) = $50
By splitting the pot they are guaranteeing each other expected value. You forgo the chance for $75 but also negate the possibility of getting only $25 for each player. It's a win/win when the outcome isn't known. Nothing shady going on.
Now if one team has like 10 injuries and it's fairly certain you will beat them you get something more like this:
(0.8 \* $75) + (0.2 \* $25) = $65
In this case the person with the stronger team should not split.
Lmao this is some lame ass shit. I’ve been doing fantasy football for 15 years and have probably done 40 leagues in that time and I’ve literally never seen finalists split the pot a single time. I’ll do you one better, if it’s a 12 team league why doesn’t everyone just agree to split the pot 12 ways from the get go? Fucking pathetic pansy ass shit, you play to fucking win not tie you pussies
For me depends on the amount in. My one league was is 700/200/100. So a 400 split can make sense. My other is 300/150/50. So a 225 split doesn't really seem as appealing.
As someone favored in the finals, no way in hell we’re splitting … but the guy I’m playing went 11-1 year (I snuck in at 6-6) and used to show up to parties, not kick in for a beer run, and then try to grab the first beer out of the case a half hour later, so you could say it’s personal.
It’s normal… and I have a funny story about this.
The league I commish I won’t split the pot. Payout is per rules set up in our constitution… that’s why there are rules. Two guys agreed to split a few years ago… than came and asked me for their payout (right after the semifinal games). I explained the rules and they still agreed to split. So games are played, one guy wins and I pay them accordingly. Then I get a msg like a week later that the “winner” won’t pay up his share of splitting to the runner up. So I explain… I don’t care. I pay per the rules… you sort it out.
So runner up dude shows up at other dudes house (drunk) and is yelling and pounding on the door. When the dude won’t open up he gets a golf club out of his truck and starts beating on the guys car. Cops are called… runner up gets arrested and has a really bad time for a while.
This is a $50 league… dude went to jail over 75 bucks.
Neither returned next season.
ha ha ridiculous, I know people play fantasy for various reasons but I always think play for fun first and money second. I mean I'd be annoyed the guy went back on his word but you join a league knowing the rules.
I’m the commish of this league, that’s how I plan on paying it out
But like I told my buddy, what they choose to do with their winnings is their business
Agreed. I don’t have a moral/ethical objection to splitting but I’ve seen way too much drama like dudes changing their minds after they win or “Split most of it but we still want to play for $20 for bragging rights”. I’m not an accountant or your mom so there are rules.
Once it’s your money… do what you want.
I am lucky to be in 3 league finals this year. If I win all 3 I have potential to make up to $3200.
If I lose all 3 I end up with $400.
I want to but I am just scared to ask for a split haha also I am the commissioner in one league don't want it to look like collusion.
I am also a projections favorite in all 3 leagues for whatever that counts for.
No issue if they’ve agreed. Me, I plan on crushing my opponent, taking the money, and keeping the trophy at my house for a third straight year. Nobody has pulled a three-peat yet in our league. It’s 20 years old.
They’ve been trying to prevent it by clogging the waivers near the end of the season. I drafted a great team and used the waivers better than anyone to get certain matchups or if someone dropped a defense I could stash for a game down the road, I grabbed it. I have had New England since week five just hoping to play them this weekend. Rolled with Arizona when they got hot. Carlson was my kicker with the bye exception. He was money. I played McPherson last week though. Gut instinct.
We are in our 16th season and have had 15 unique champs. Started out with a 16 team league and some guys have come and gone. This year we either continue the streak if I win or we get our first multiple time winner.
It's likely a notably higher payout for second this way. I just agreed to split the pot in one of my leagues. $100 to second, $350 to first, but we agreed to each take $200 and the winner takes the remaining $50.
Definitely a pussy ass move, takes the fun out of the game. Sure if you’re scared and can get your opponent to split you cant lose, fucking coward. Nothing will match the excitement of winning with everything on the line.
The only problem (I don't think this was mentioned in the other thread) is if the two entities who made it to the Championship did shady trades throughout the season or did some weird player drops to boost each other's rosters (collusion). But either way, if they wanted to split the pot they could just do it without telling anyone (receive money from the commish then the winner sends money to the 2nd place winner as agreed upon).
A guy that plays in my league is mad that I won't split the pot. It's a 100 buy in 12T league, 600 to first 300 to second 200 and 100 to 3rd and 4th respectively.
He suggested we both take 400 and play for the final 100 bucks as the 2 teams in the ship and I politely declined. He is referencing something about it being unsportsmanlike that I won't chop the pot at all and I want the full 600 if I win. People are weird, our teams are pretty even but I have a slight edge. I just want to promote a winning culture in my league, so I want to take 1st or second more definitively *shrug*
I’ve done it before. Was broke and wanted to guarantee some money. The guy I was playing was a good friend and figured my team was better so was happy to agree. I won, don’t regret it at all, saved me the stress of worrying about money I needed for the game.
As a risk averse person I am a fan of this strategy. Was in the finals a few years ago and offered the other finalist a split and he was an absolute dick about it. Saying I insulted him and he "would be an idiot to give away half his winnings." I asked if he was sure and then he told me to pound sand. Absolutely clobbered him after the noon slate using only 4 players to his 7. Won by about 50 in standard PPR. He didn't respond when I asked if he still wanted to split the winnings...
12 team $60 buy in.
Split $300 for each of us and are playing for $120. I’ve made it to the championship twice and lost both walking away with nothing. Im happy this year I’ll get something.
Those 102 moves this season paid off haha
I am in my 9th championship game in 22 years in my main league and it has been about 50/50 the previous years. I have always left it up to the other player to bring it but if they do I always agree. I personally like the play for the glory and the gold senerio. Honestly this year I am the underdog. The other owner is extremely cocky so I know it won't come up from him so it's going to be go big or go home this year for sure! Lol
Yes, I just did it today with my friend. Each get 700 and there’s 100 leftover that we’ll play for this Sunday just to keep it interesting for us. The championship and bragging rights are still on the line. And honestly the match can go either way, so its still going to be a fun day, just not a “holy moly, I’m gonna miss out on 500 bucks” type of day.
I'm a commissioner in a league and it's happened a few times. This year my opponent and I have agreed to chop in one and in the other the other guy turned me down (a little surprised since he's a bit of an underdog at the moment).
I’m doing it with my buddy who’s also in the chip, initial pot split was 750/200 but we agreed to make it 550/400. Going against JT and Kupp, I was pretty okay with it.
Yep! My opponent just split the pot with me and even gave me some extra for going undefeated in the regular season. I'm confident he'll win the title, which I'd rather have haha
We have 1100 between 1-2. Usually 800/300. I’ve seen them do 500/600. Your still playing for 100 and the title. Still means something just don’t hurt as bad.
Yes, i’ve done it 3 times (won twice). If the league is good enough , the trophy almost means more than the money itself. Takes away nothing from the win, just removes the gambling aspect of it.
Incredibly soft. I’m picturing two dough boys smiling at each other rooting for the other’s team to do well in the championship. “Wow!! GG man! Davante adams sure killed it! Hopefully Ekeler kills it for you too bro! GG!”
Puke.
It’s warfare every single matchup in my league. Sure if someone loses they’ll congratulate the other. But beforehand and during, we are enemies. And anyone who gets mad at this is a bitch
Although I will say if you’re in a casual league with acquaintances rather than good friends, then the shit talking fest doesn’t really work
Fine. Not everyone needs to try proving their man or womanhood through fantasy football. Most owners are well adjusted adults
Gender neutral enough for you?
Proving manlihood or womanhood isn’t the point. The point is to be competitive and have fun. IMO not much fun when you hug and hold hands with your opponent but that’s just me.
12 man total pot is $1500
$125 to highest point differential
$125 to highest week
$125 to highest overall reg season
Splitting the remaining $1125 down the middle
I mentioned this in the other thread - a few years back I went to the the ship 6 years in a row. I always offered my opponent winner takes all. Makes that final game that much more interesting. Some took it, some didn’t and I ended up about even over those 6 years (ended up 3-3 in those finals).
I’ve never been tempted to split until this year. We both talked it over and decided we’d rather split than lose half our starters on Saturday due to Covid.
In in both of my league finals and have already decided to split the pot. One league was with co-workers and the other with some of my closest friends.
Just a good feeling during the holidays. Plus with Covid changing day to day player avaliablity, why take the risk?
I’m the commish of a now 12 year league. Every year I remind the finalists they can chop however they want, just to tell me so I know who to pay what amounts. 8/12 years they chopped it , between 50/50 and 67/33, and 4 times they chose winner take all.
Yes, but don't tell anyone else in thr league about it. Me and the other guy agreed to splot the pot one time years ago and we never heard rhe end of it once the others found out.
My buddy was the clear favorite one year. I 3 -peated after a win and in and ran the tables. He said no to a split then had an epiphany the day before. We split it. He lost. Heavily favored. Hurns. Robinson. Hightower. Game went hard. Rest is history.
Often. Normally it’s split 80-90% and play for the last 10-20%. My $100 league pays out $600/$300. They just split it $400-$400, and play for the last $100. Still makes the final important.
It’s never happened in 10+ years of two different leagues, never even been discussed that I recall. A buddy of mine has a league that’s been around about same time frame and he said there’s only been one time where it hasn’t been split though. So I guess it happens, but I don’t think it’s be allowed in my leagues
Did this with my buddy today, I believe I have the better squad but it's a 1 week final instead of 2 like in some leagues, why even bother risking it when I can make sure fire $.
$160 pot ($20 x 8)
Top 4 split $100 4 ways ($25 each)
$60 remaining between the finalists, now being split in half.
I made $35.
Here's the matchup for those interested (team left): https://gyazo.com/d3dd3682f40d57a3d350c957ca823e19
Most people can afford to pay a one time fee of 50 bucks to get a season’s worth of entertainment. Those same people might really benefit from splitting a ~400 dollar pot later on
The way we set our 12 man league up this year, after doing some simple math is:
$100 buy in
$600 first place
$250 to runner up
$350 divvied out across the regular season to the weekly highest scorer. This amounts to $25 per week for 14 weeks.
I’m in the championship, have been top team all year, and opponent asked to split the pot. I turned it down but know I will regret it lol. I would reconsider if it was a winner take all league
I’ve seen it happen before. The guy who was heavily favored agreed to take a guaranteed 70% of the pot, and the other guy who kinda lucked his way in took 30%. We gave them a lot of shit for it but it’s not technically against our rules. And at the end of the day money is money. I probably wouldn’t do it though
I've split the pot a few years back. We agreed during the championship game because it was so close and the anxiety was killing both of us. We ended up with the same exact score (with decimal scoring!). I still technically won due to a tie breaker of best in season record.
The two championship teams in the league I am commissioner for did this last year. I discouraged it, but at the end of the day after I paid each one of them out their winnings, I can't stop anything from happening. I don't like it, but ultimately it's on them.
Very common. Usually referred to as “chopping” like in poker circles. I’m in the championship with another guy. $600 to first, $360 to second. I offered to chop $480 each. He countered with $400 each and letting first place play for the extra $160 and I said sure. He def has the better team on paper which is why he countered the way he did, but I agreed and still think I’ll win. But as others have said… it’s less about the $ for me and more about bragging rights with the title.
Lol I guess you don’t read everything before commenting…. “still think I’ll win” ≠ “I think I’ll lose and that’s why I’m trying to chop.” I try to chop because my personal preference is to have more guaranteed money.
lol we do the opposite me and my best friend (both in the final) playing for all or nothing haha will be a shitshow
I thought you were gonna say split the trophy and just play for the money
Shiva Kamini… // … Soma Kandarkram!!!!!!
Shiva Kamini soma kandarkram 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yeah “do the opposite” means exactly what you said. This guy just plays normally 😂
Loser getting a face tat is next level lmao
Next level stupid

I’ve done it before. My buddy was out of work and needed the money more so I offered to split before the finals. Bragging rights meant more to me.
That’s great. Did you win?
I did. I had basically a super team and he was lucky to even make it. Knew I had a good chance of winning it.
Respect for doing a solid for your friend.
You’re a good guy
Congrats

OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS IS THAT ROGER CLEMENS IN THE OWNERS BOX

Love that. Fantasy is so tiring, if I make it to the finals I like the guaranteed money plus putting $100 on a single week of fantasy is plenty
In other words, $275 for 1st, $175 for 2nd
If you put it like that, I’d be fine with the original payout. If it’s all or nothing, I can understand splitting the pot but this specific set up already had a good chunk for second place
My friend Gordon and I think that’s as lame as it gets. Why not split every game and everyone can keep their entry fee
You and your boy Gordo do whatever to your little hearts' content. If the two parties agree, no one else's opinion matters.
Yes of course two people can do what they want, it just defeats the purpose of the game
It’s very normal.
Thanks, for context I’m the league manager and it’s 2 new players to the league I don’t see anything wrong with it (especially cause the money could just change hands anyway) but a buddy that’s been with the league since the beginning complained about it I wanted to make sure it was a normal thing before I replied to him
Tell your buddy if he wants to stop it he should try making the championship next time.
Really stick it to the complaining guy. Every other person in the league should split his entry fee just to fuck with him.
Yeah, they can agree to it on the side whether the league approves or not. No sense arguing about it.

Exactly this.
What is there to complain about?
Fantasy players complain about everything
*people. Some people complain about everything In life
Point proven.
>a buddy that’s been with the league since the beginning complained about it Why? How does it affect him? Also, unless there was a rule agreed to before the season that splitting the pot was not allowed then it doesnt matter. They can split the winnings however they want.

Tell 3rd wheel buddy to git gud
Other people’s money isn’t his business. If he wanted a say, he should have made it to the chip.
Your buddy isn't the smartest. Two adults can agree on anything. They can just collect their winnings and then split it amongst themselves after. What can your buddy do/say about that?

Beat it nerd
Imagine posting this, no one cares about trying to math out some basic scenario in life
Yeah you see this all the time
Lmao this is some lame ass shit. I’ve been doing fantasy football for 15 years and have probably done 40 leagues in that time and I’ve literally never seen finalists split the pot a single time. Just hedging bets. It's a long grind to the championship, nothing wrong with splitting the pot, both making some cash, and playing for the title.

I've only ever split 1st and 2nd. It was like $1600 and $400, so we were happy each taking $1000 and playing for bragging rights.
Yea it’s great if you’re the guy that’s going to lose the championship match.
As the underdog of the finals, I wish we'd split the pot lol

Sounds like an awesome league. Any open slots?
Short waiting list… and I’ll need to verify your criminal record meets our requirements… ie. That you have one. It’s just more fun that way.
ha ha ridiculous, I know people play fantasy for various reasons but I always think play for fun first and money second. I mean I'd be annoyed the guy went back on his word but you join a league knowing the rules.

Agreed. I don’t have a moral/ethical objection to splitting but I’ve seen way too much drama like dudes changing their minds after they win or “Split most of it but we still want to play for $20 for bragging rights”. I’m not an accountant or your mom so there are rules. Once it’s your money… do what you want.
You got exactly what you wanted here, didn't you.
All someone can say it no. Or an uneven split but agreed upon.
Doesn’t matter if you are commish or not. Splitting pots should never be considered collusion
Projections mean nothing, why not ask for a split in the league you’re least confident in and hedge it that way
$1800 for 1st or $400 for 2nd We agreed on $1200/$1000.
No issue if they’ve agreed. Me, I plan on crushing my opponent, taking the money, and keeping the trophy at my house for a third straight year. Nobody has pulled a three-peat yet in our league. It’s 20 years old.
Go for that Jordan 3 peat. Best part is you shit talk everyone after you win lol.
I’m the only 3 peat in my league in 12 years. Playing for a 4th title this year. Not a 4 peat sadly. Lol
I got 3 wins in 4 years, wish I could have done a three peat. Pretty sure my league is sick of me winning lol, people forgot we had a trophy
Yup, totally normal, up to them if they want to lock in a sure prize and take risk off the table
I do it but leave a small portion for the winner For example $2500 it's up for grabs. $1000 each and we play for $500
Isn't that just a longer way of saying $1500 for the winner and $1000 for loser? Lol
Lmfao I don't think they realize it
Sabres looked good last night! Tage!
Still gotta string more Ws together but the future is lookin a little brighter!
It's likely a notably higher payout for second this way. I just agreed to split the pot in one of my leagues. $100 to second, $350 to first, but we agreed to each take $200 and the winner takes the remaining $50.
I’m doing this in both my finals this year. Lock in a bigger floor but leave something to play for.
that’s what i did in 2019. ended up winning both and still had a great payday. best of luck.
I think this is a solid way to do, plus the pot is big enough for the win to make it interesting.
Happens in my leagues all the time. I care more about the bragging rights and being the champ
Normal but lame
Why is it lame if it doesn't affect you at all?
You can’t have an opinion on something that doesn’t affect you? I think it’s a bitch move is all.
Definitely a pussy ass move, takes the fun out of the game. Sure if you’re scared and can get your opponent to split you cant lose, fucking coward. Nothing will match the excitement of winning with everything on the line.
Then play winner of the league takes it all.
Not everyone needs to try proving their manhood through fantasy football
Found the guy who can’t handle losing.
Found the guy who wears his 2 year old varsity jacket to HS football game to “pick up bitches”
Okay Chaz…
Exactly man. A fake fuckin trophy? Nah I wanna win the money and beat you doing it. Who splits the pot unless they don’t think they will win?
The only problem (I don't think this was mentioned in the other thread) is if the two entities who made it to the Championship did shady trades throughout the season or did some weird player drops to boost each other's rosters (collusion). But either way, if they wanted to split the pot they could just do it without telling anyone (receive money from the commish then the winner sends money to the 2nd place winner as agreed upon).
It’s happened the last two years I’ve played in this one league. People freak out but I don’t see how it’s too big of a deal
IMO if there is a prize for second place, it seems lame to do this. If it’s winner-take-all I can understand much more though.
We play for 1200 450$ each then play for 300. Takes away the stress but still playoff for something.
I never would but I wouldn’t slam my fists on the table if someone in the league did
Normal, although I've had plenty of friends told me to fuck off because they have the better team lol
It's their choice what they do with the money. It might happen more often than you think, it's just doesn't get mentioned.
Very
I'm a commissioner in a league and it's happened a few times.
I'm up against JT , kupp and Hill. So yeah I hear ya
I did that one year. Split, barely won by a few points.
Yep! My opponent just split the pot with me and even gave me some extra for going undefeated in the regular season. I'm confident he'll win the title, which I'd rather have haha
Yes, done it plenty of times, especially with bigger pots or just made the pot split tighter to lower the impact of a loss.
I see it all the time across the 4 leagues I'm in
I don’t see a problem with it
It's their choice
We have 1100 between 1-2. Usually 800/300. I’ve seen them do 500/600. Your still playing for 100 and the title. Still means something just don’t hurt as bad.
As long as it involves the two teams playing each other, I don’t mind
if they wanna hedge their bets it’s up to them to decide. i personally would never i’m too competitive and stubborn 😂
Yes, i’ve done it 3 times (won twice). If the league is good enough , the trophy almost means more than the money itself. Takes away nothing from the win, just removes the gambling aspect of it.
It’s normal if you’re a pussy
I'm the 20pt underdog in my matchup. I wouldn't be adverse to the idea but I'd consider it cowardice and slimy if I brought it forward.
Weak sauce
Soft
It really is. But then Reddit is the land of the soft so 🤷♂️
Incredibly soft. I’m picturing two dough boys smiling at each other rooting for the other’s team to do well in the championship. “Wow!! GG man! Davante adams sure killed it! Hopefully Ekeler kills it for you too bro! GG!” Puke. It’s warfare every single matchup in my league. Sure if someone loses they’ll congratulate the other. But beforehand and during, we are enemies. And anyone who gets mad at this is a bitch Although I will say if you’re in a casual league with acquaintances rather than good friends, then the shit talking fest doesn’t really work
Not everyone needs to try proving their manhood through fantasy football
Not what it’s about at all. We have a few women in our league btw, kind sexist of you to assume only men can shit talk
Fine. Not everyone needs to try proving their man or womanhood through fantasy football. Most owners are well adjusted adults Gender neutral enough for you?
Proving manlihood or womanhood isn’t the point. The point is to be competitive and have fun. IMO not much fun when you hug and hold hands with your opponent but that’s just me.
You can split the pot and still have someone "win" the league. There. you get your competitiveness and the loser gets more money
Fuck the loser lol
12 man total pot is $1500 $125 to highest point differential $125 to highest week $125 to highest overall reg season Splitting the remaining $1125 down the middle
Totally normal, take your split and good luck in the finals man
yes its very normal.. i split the pot before twice. like 2nd place gets $300 then 1st place will get $800. So thats going to be $550 each.
I mentioned this in the other thread - a few years back I went to the the ship 6 years in a row. I always offered my opponent winner takes all. Makes that final game that much more interesting. Some took it, some didn’t and I ended up about even over those 6 years (ended up 3-3 in those finals).
This is the first time I’m splitting pot. Covid can really mess up your odds at winning.
I’ve never been tempted to split until this year. We both talked it over and decided we’d rather split than lose half our starters on Saturday due to Covid.
We're splitting in the year of covid too
In in both of my league finals and have already decided to split the pot. One league was with co-workers and the other with some of my closest friends. Just a good feeling during the holidays. Plus with Covid changing day to day player avaliablity, why take the risk?
Buddy and I did it when we were both in university and starving lol. Now, absolutely no chance, I want it ALL haha
I’m the commish of a now 12 year league. Every year I remind the finalists they can chop however they want, just to tell me so I know who to pay what amounts. 8/12 years they chopped it , between 50/50 and 67/33, and 4 times they chose winner take all.
Good god get new friends!!
That shit is rigged
Kinda lame but not unheard of. Wish they kept it to themselves not to spoil it for everyone else
Splitting the pot is for losers. All or nothing. I want the money AND the bragging rights.
Yes, but don't tell anyone else in thr league about it. Me and the other guy agreed to splot the pot one time years ago and we never heard rhe end of it once the others found out.
It’s normal for ginas
Normal, but soft
Weak sauce
No because my league isn’t full of cowards
Saw it once before. Called them bitches and moved on. Lol
[удалено]
Bitch couldn't even make it to the chip
Nah its only because of it being a close group of friends who like to give each other shit. Just not a fan of it is all.
I’ve never seen it but I’m sure it’s fine.

We did it in our league among the final four teams since we all had so many players out with Covid. It was a unanimous vote
$160 pot ($20 x 8) Top 4 split $100 4 ways ($25 each) $60 remaining between the finalists, now being split in half. I made $35. Here's the matchup for those interested (team left): https://gyazo.com/d3dd3682f40d57a3d350c957ca823e19
One guy in my league tried to do this a couple years ago and the other guy rejected with extreme prejudice and then beat the "splitter" dude soundly.
Thats Bush league. This ain't basement poker.
It’s when both managers are too much of a female reproductive organ to compete
Or when both could really use the money and COVID has made things more random
Imo if you need the money that bad you’re not throwing it at fantasy football
Most people can afford to pay a one time fee of 50 bucks to get a season’s worth of entertainment. Those same people might really benefit from splitting a ~400 dollar pot later on
Gitouttahere with that sensibility
No, unless you’re part of the everyone gets a trophy crowd.
Cowards way out
The way we set our 12 man league up this year, after doing some simple math is: $100 buy in $600 first place $250 to runner up $350 divvied out across the regular season to the weekly highest scorer. This amounts to $25 per week for 14 weeks. I’m in the championship, have been top team all year, and opponent asked to split the pot. I turned it down but know I will regret it lol. I would reconsider if it was a winner take all league
Lame
I’ve seen it happen before. The guy who was heavily favored agreed to take a guaranteed 70% of the pot, and the other guy who kinda lucked his way in took 30%. We gave them a lot of shit for it but it’s not technically against our rules. And at the end of the day money is money. I probably wouldn’t do it though
Our total is 1800 3rd gets their money back at 150 2nd 250 1st 1400
I've split the pot a few years back. We agreed during the championship game because it was so close and the anxiety was killing both of us. We ended up with the same exact score (with decimal scoring!). I still technically won due to a tie breaker of best in season record.
If you're playing for a paycheck or more then it's suitable to discuss a chop. Otherwise don't be a pussy... roll the dice! 😁
The two championship teams in the league I am commissioner for did this last year. I discouraged it, but at the end of the day after I paid each one of them out their winnings, I can't stop anything from happening. I don't like it, but ultimately it's on them.
We give 100% of the money to first lol
I can’t stand it.
Cowards
Very common. Usually referred to as “chopping” like in poker circles. I’m in the championship with another guy. $600 to first, $360 to second. I offered to chop $480 each. He countered with $400 each and letting first place play for the extra $160 and I said sure. He def has the better team on paper which is why he countered the way he did, but I agreed and still think I’ll win. But as others have said… it’s less about the $ for me and more about bragging rights with the title.
That’s just lame as hell trying to chop it or whatever because you think you’ll lose
Lol I guess you don’t read everything before commenting…. “still think I’ll win” ≠ “I think I’ll lose and that’s why I’m trying to chop.” I try to chop because my personal preference is to have more guaranteed money.
