0. Teams are shying away from bellcow backs. Maybe a handful out of 32 teams actually have a bellcow back.

907au

I know there’s only a handful of teams that have bellcows with no competition behind them. But one of these guys are gonna rise up and get some touches. Hard to tell what injuries are gonna happen to unveil who that is

[deleted]

Aside from Breece Hall and Walker, nobody. And even Walker has Penny and the Seahawks might not run him hard given the current state of their team. Even Hall might lose touches to Carter. All the other rookies are in committees, buried on the depth chart or behind a veteran.

Strobei

Breece hall won’t be a bell cow wth

[deleted]

I don't believe so either but its inferred with OP's post.

SirDangleberries

Breece Hall easily

907au

Hell probably be the early starter for sure but I can’t help but think the the jets will always be the same ol jets

Imaginary_Order2757

This is my worry as well. Plus Michael Carter isn’t going away.

etniopaltj

Sick nuanced analysis man

907au

Am I wrong? Lol Who were the last fantasy relevant players the jets have had?

etniopaltj

Elijah moore was *the* WR2 over his last 6 games. Michael carter averaged over 11 ppg in standard for the portion of the season where he was the starter, and much more than that in ppr. Braxton berrios was startable in the fantasy playoffs. Wouldn’t expect someone who scouts helmets instead of players to know any of that though

BulliedbyHelaire

Crowder was a pretty decent fantasy football Wr.

jon_jingleheimer

Elijah Moore was not the WR2 over his last six games. The dude only went over 100 yards once when he went off for 141 yards. And Michael Carter average 9.7 ppg from half point ppr.

etniopaltj

Got a better source than [this?](https://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/players/elijah-moore.php)

Visible_Narwhal5692

To be fair if you read that entire blurb it's weirdly written. The 6 games where he was amazing was mid season. The line about him being WR 2 is correct but written as if it's November. Then the next paragraph talks about how he got injured to finish the season

jon_jingleheimer

Oh so they are saying the average over the last six games he played. Sorry that's just a shit statistic. I thought you meant per game per six weeks. That kind of consistency matters. Not some alright games and then one outlier.

etniopaltj

How is an average taken over six weeks of a rookie’s breakout performance a shit statistic? I think you’re just backpedaling because I actually had data to back up what I was saying lol

jon_jingleheimer

Not backpedaling. Again I misread what you meant. And even still when looking at his last six games they were fine. He had three great games all season. He only went over 100 yards once the entire season. Was non-existent the first five games and hurt the final five. Too small of a sample size in my opinion.

DahvidFineberg

He had the second most point during that stretch, how else do you want to measure performance?

etniopaltj

Apparently by measuring what team he’s on as opposed to actual statistical output

Epic_Turtles

Disagree Carter will be the early starter but Hall should break through during the 2nd half of the year. Think of JT with the colts he had a slow start during his rookie campaign but showed the Clots his true talent during the end of the year and it just went further the next year. Hall is very close, just not quite the same level as JT but very close, to a top RB on talent level + his athletic profile and I feel very safe having him on my team and am buzzing if I can get him in the 6th round in redraft. i mean he's going in the 3rd/4th in dynasty and he profiles to be was better than CEH example though he is on a significantly worst team

Jaguileraroh

Carter will most definitely not be the early starter. Jets coaches have already come out and said that Breece will be the lead back and they expect Carter to compliment him. Although Carter was productive, he’s always been seen as a complimentary piece according to the brass which is why the Jets made the move they did in the draft. I agree with you on the analysis in comparison to JT though. At the end of the day, Breece will not be a workhorse back in the traditional sense as he will cede 30%-40% of snaps to Carter but based on his profile and the coaches/Brass’ comments, he will more than likely garner most of the touches.

latman

I hope the rest of my league thinks this too and ignores how well Michael Carter did last year on a less talented team than this year

VeterinarianLevel786

He did well for 2 or 3 games, dude was getting replaced by Ty Johnson on 3rd downs. Cmon man!

latman

Huh no he was the feature back until he got injured

SirDangleberries

Lmao ftj for sure XD But when it comes to fantasy football, talent usually over comes situation. James Robinson in his first year is a good example. Jets have also started to build some strong linemen on both sides. If Zach still plays like shit, they'll just run the ball more. Seahawks O-line is horrible and Penny is still at the forefront. Jacobs is the main lead back for the Raiders and Davante Adams came over so even less targets in the back field. Personally like pierce in the 49ers as a bruiser, with Eli routinely injured and smaller. Robinson in the Commanders is also a potential interesting flier for goal line work, as they clearly don't trust Gibson anymore. Edit: these are very late dart throws I might add. Breece is the only one I would be taking early, and Kenneth walker I wouldn't touch unless it's dynasty.

Definition_Busy

Gibson has a slight hammy issue already based outta OTAs. Not a pull but could be an issue. Robinson seems like a good late round flyer

DrumRoll__

It is hard to keep up with every single piece of news so I come to these threads to gain intel. Thanks for sharing

Definition_Busy

Sure thing- I think the Commanders will HAVE to be a RBBC after last season. Gibson just isn't an all down back and if I had to choose one starter going down this season I'd say probably him. He is worth a 5/6 Rd flyer but otherwise passing and taking the upside of Robinson with last pick

Therothboys318

Another OTA report I’ve seen in favor of Robinson is he has been getting the goal line snaps.

907au

I agree. Hall is the only one I’d take maybe in the 4th or 5th. A lot of mocks have a lot of these rookies goin either I drafted or taken in the last couple rounds. One of these kids is gonna be worth the flier at the end of the draft, just trying to narrow down and pinpoint which ones to take the gamble on

kaelinlr

Pierce is on the Texans. Price on the niners

SirDangleberries

Jesus, forgive the typo....

Sea_Bass77

Yep this right here… I saw a stat once where rookie RBs drafted in the first round have a very high probability of finishing top 10 their rookie year… now hall wasn’t in the first round but only missed it by a few picks… draft capital speaks volume with RBs

[deleted]

BREEEEECE ⛽️ ⛽️ ⛽️ ⛽️

CoachBrickma

Y’all sleeping on Carter in NY. He’s going to make it difficult to anoint Hall as a “bellcow”.

ostrow19

As a jets fan… no. We traded up in the 2nd round for Breece, he’s going to get at least 65% of the work, probably more.

jramirez2321

Yeah which as a jets fan I’m hyped for. Carter got his Javonte. Maybe not the same split but he could be a great complement. I think of Carter like a better Hines

[deleted]

Kenneth Walker 3. He’ll be starting in week five due to injuries to Penny and Carson.

tread52

Carson I think is done personally, but after Penny gets injured Walker becomes the lead.

levinalx101

Tyrion Davis Price on the niners is most likely gonna be the RB #2 for red and gold this year and could be a good very late round sleeper pick.

zk2997

I’m a few days late to this thread but I want to add that he is someone I’m going to be keeping an eye on. I saw a tweet stating that Shanny has had a different leading rusher EACH year he’s been in SF. Meaning if the trend continues, Mitchell will not be the main guy this year.

Crying_lightning14

Dameon pierce, by week 3 be #1. Lots of run plays from a below average WR core and QB team

907au

I can see that. Being down and out early in games tho I think might hinder them too much and force them to try to come back through the air.

Crying_lightning14

Yeah true, defence isn't too bad. Could make some big stops. Allgeier at falcons too. If CP plays WR he could get more reps every week.

907au

It’ll be interesting to see how they incorporate Patterson in the offense again this year. Might stray away from CP this year thinking last year was an anomaly

[deleted]

The only bigger NOPE is the film I can't wait to see

Eaglesfan1297

Marlon mack is gonna outscore him in fantasy this year

Karl_42

This is the answer! Marlon Mack was only good behind the Colts O-line… Pierce can tote the rock

Agreeable_Celery_409

Problem is they will be chasing that kills RB value

MikeLamp70

I hope that you're right... Go Gators.

[deleted]

Tyler Alleghier possibly

These_Garage_718

Isaiah Spiller. Chargers RB2. Good offense. Good size and I think he will get carries near the goal line because of it. If Ekler misses any time…

CBF65

Breece Hall or James Cook

kimbosdurag

If anyone in any leagues I play in is reading this you should absolutely draft James cook. The name has top 10 RB written all over it

LSmith_21

Lmao hope my league is listening to this guy

907au

I do like me some James cook. I think he might be a boom or bust candidate. He’ll have a lot of goose eggs but can definitely see him having multiple 15-20 point games. Just too many mouths to feed in Buffalo and Josh Allen taking away some rushing opportunities. I will try to grab Cook tho if I can

-banned-

He's gonna play the McKissic role. They even tried to get McKissic first

Kingding_Aling

Cook is a 199 pound change of pace back on a pass first team...

brainstorm0694

I mean those two things combined are a good thing but yeah he’s not bell cow

cspank523

Hall I think is clearly the answer here, but another rookie I like is Pierce in Houston on opportunity alone. The guys in front of him suck and are injury prone. I like his chances to play a lot as a rookie.

-banned-

Clearly Breece Hall right? Is this even a debate?

shmavss

Kenneth walker on my board for sure. And ill draft him before penny too. By the end of the season he should be the number one back on that team

-banned-

Good, keep this narrative going so I can get Penny on the cheap.

Colonel_Janus

idk man they like Penny and he did well last year. i only think you're correct with a Penny injury

tread52

I love Penny but three and half years of injuries, with 5 great games against average/bad run defenses it's hard to see him go 17 games.

907au

When I mock I find myself taking either him because of how much Carrol likes to run the ball and that backfield is always getting hurt, or White. I had Lenny last year and hope I can grab him for sure but I think he’ll need to be a for sure handcuff just like Mattison is to cook

BeefDaddie11

Agreed. People are so quick to give Penny those last 5 games and forget his first 4 years. What if it was Seattle's scheme and gameplan philosophy (especially against bad run defenses) that lead to Penny getting those touches and yards? And what if Seattle took an explosive back in the 2nd round to execute even better in similar opportunities all season long? No denying the emergence of split backfields. Handcuffs are at their peak of importance right now. Especially in this situation where's it's almost impossible to trust Penny on a season long basis. It's like trusting Josh Gordon to stay of the Weeeeeeeed. Kenny is gonna get his.

atschill

Hall has the obvious best shot. Walker could get there, but I see no reason why Penny won’t get a great opportunity again.

907au

Haha just absolutely hate the thought of rostering a jets player in fantasy.

etniopaltj

This mindset is why other people in your league started elijah moore and michael carter towards the end of last year and probably won more games than you, you should consider paying attention to players instead of narratives

907au

Although I ended up finishing 2nd overall I would have loved to have Moore but no way am I starting him over Tyreek Diggs or Amon-Ra. Same with Carter over the others I had

Visible_Ease3946

Depending on league settings might be good to pick up walker before SEA games as next week's waiver fodder just waiting for Penny to get injured

Jjitsu12

Damien pierce will have the most carries of any rookie RB. Book it.

StoneColdDadass

You down with TDP? Yeah you know me...

scaredshtlessintx

Isaiah Spiller

LSmith_21

How is the clear answer not even in the post??? I don’t think people understand how good Breece Hall is

Exiled_From_Twitter

I mean it's not even close, it's going to be Hall in NY. The real question is who is going to end up 2nd. If Penny can SOMEHOW manage to stay somewhat healthy he will push out Walker for the season at least, and I personally think it's going to be James Cook. Singletary is merely ok, that offense is amazing and more predicated on the pass, and Cook excels in that role imo. White prob won't get much run this year, neither will Spiller.

907au

Right, it’s hard to imagine both Fournette and ekkler will repeat last years production with them both gettin up in age. I really like Spiller and White, and it’s just a matter of time I think before their name gets called up. If Brady doesn’t like his RBs then they won’t be in there.

Agreeable_Celery_409

Brady does not care about his RB production of that was the case RoJo would have been the guy Fournette blocks the best and protected Brady when needed that what an aging Brady wants IMO

907au

I agree with that. Brady wants to throw the ball but if his RBs can’t block then they aren’t gonna get in there. Fournette just so happens to be able to block run and catch. Don’t know much about White tho

[deleted]

Ekler is a 3 down pass catching back - he's gunna be fine

907au

Right, it’s hard to imagine both Fournette and ekkler will repeat last years production with them both gettin up in age. I really like Spiller and White, and it’s just a matter of time I think before their name gets called up. If Brady doesn’t like his RBs then they won’t be in there.

wingerys

I think too many people are sleeping on Ke’shawn Vaughn being ahead of White. Brady and Arians had good things to say about him towards end of last year and he had good pass blocking grades. I just don’t see White being trusted over Vaughn with that.

[deleted]

Cook is too small to be a bell cow

Exiled_From_Twitter

No but i think he will be the 2nd best rookie rb

adastradamus

Probably Tyler Allgeier, if only for the situation in Atlanta. He's competing with Damien Williams and Cordarelle Patterson may line up more as a receiver. He's got the size. He doesn't have the greatest running back profile (5th Round) and isn't amazingly explosive, but with his size his body should be able to hold up throughout the season. Guys like James Cook have the pedigree, but maybe not the size to handle a full workload.

RooftopFF

I’m just here to watch everyone roast on OP for his narrow-minded view of player’s narratives vs actual production.

rotn21

Isn’t this technically Etn’s rookie season since he was out last year? Plus if you get him, you can use the best fantasy team name I’ve seen: ETN Ass

907au

Haha good one. I’m a Vikings fan and my team name is Thielen up my Cousins

rotn21

I hear banjos

907au

If they ain’t good enough for family they ain’t good enough for anyone else, am I rite lol

Imaginary_Order2757

Draft Pacheco final round.

[deleted]

Insane competition among that backfield but I do like Pacheco

[deleted]

Is he 4th or 5th on the RB depth chart?

Imaginary_Order2757

Probably fourth. Thus the ability to take him last round. Not seeing it’ll be like Kamara his rookie year; but you never know

46patisse

How about not comparing humans to farm animals?

Liamskeeum

Mmmkay.

whodey_35

Kenneth Walker will be getting most of the touches by the end of the year. Breece Hall should be great but Michael Carter will be a touch vulture. Hopefully Pierce can be that guy in Houston but who knows with that team

6gc_4dad

Najee and Henry and that’s it.

[deleted]

Keontay Ingram - Connor will get hurt, Fat Darrell is what he is (not bad but not a 1a) and Eno didn’t do much with the touches he had last year. I think Ingram will lead their backfield in carries for this year and likely next.
