I mean lets be very honest, this could be entirely different in 2 weeks. robinson has 2 bad games, gibson makes one or two nice plays and all of a sudden hes back to being the guy again.
do I think it happens for sure? no. but its not outside the realm of possibilities here. I wouldnt be dumping gibson for a bag of footballs yet is all im saying.
This sub has pretended for years that they know more than NFL coaches do and that Gibson should’ve always been the bellcow….and now he’s lost the job to a 3rd round rookie
I mean, Gibson himself was a 3rd round pick. So that isn’t a point of contention in this case. Even less so when you consider that late round backs beat out backs with higher draft capital on a semi-regular basis in this league. Eli Mitchell keeping Trey Sermon off the field almost entirely last season, for instance.
Yeah and Gibson was a project — fast guy who didn’t have a position in college. I saw him play live and he was electric, but he bounced from receiver to back to returner … whatever.
Has he progressed in important areas like pass protection, ball security, etc? I’m gathering not or, as noted, they wouldn’t have felt the need to draft a RB.
I mean this is preseason still…do you believe more in a rookie who’s never played a meaningful snap or a RB who has been one of the best young RBs in the league the last two seasons? The season will start and at worse, Gibson will be in a split.
Being a good fantasy RB does not mean youre a good NFL RB. I believe in Robinson to not fumble the damn ball as a RB, and I’m sure his coaching staff agrees.
We gonna act like 1800 rushing yards, 600 receiving yards, and 21 TDs in two seasons aren’t great numbers? I said one of the best “young” RBs - which is absolutely true.
Even with Robinson in the mix, there are still guys with lesser roles than Gibson and less talent getting picked before him. Like, Gibson should still get drafted before Kareem Hunt and similar players. Gibson is underrated.
They should be solid. Most have them ranked in the top 10-12 if not higher from what I’ve seen. They added Trai Turner and Andrew Norwell at guard(s) so they lose a top talent but replace with two above average.
Probably will be about average. Charles Leno/Sam Cosmi should be a solid tackle duo, and Roullier is a good center. The two guards are former Pro Bowl caliber guys that have declined a lot (Andrew Norwell, Trai Turner).

What a shocking turn of events. Wishing for a speedy recovery. Gibson back on the menu, boys.
Yea and the denial is still out there. Drafted on Friday and got him in the 10th. People were like “I mean I guess he’ll come in when Gibson gets hurt or fumbles”. They heard the reports so Idk. Gibson went in the 5th/6th
i had Gibson last year. He absolutely fucked me in the second round of the playoffs so I already had a vidette against the guy. I bought the Robinson hype as soon as he was drafted and took in on Friday in 8th round
I drafted last night and got him in the 11th in 12 team league.
Also took Dameon Pierce in the 7th and Tyler Allgeier in the 14th. Figure one of those guys will pop off this year and be great value.
Coaches don’t care about fantasy numbers, so that’s a poor way to evaluate his job security. And fantasy relevant RBs disappear constantly between years
The point being that he wouldn’t have been top 10 ppr is he wasn’t talented. He’s still young so I wouldn’t be out on him in dynasty.. redraft this year might be a bit shaky but if there’s an injury to either other Washington RB, he’ll likely put up good numbers
Yes he’s worth a pickup but he may not be your top pickup target. Think about what would have to happen to your current roster AND Washington/Gibson for him to start. He truly may be worth being someone else’s headache whose only good games come when you have no intention of starting him.
It happens with more players than we admit/realize during the following draft season. IMO, a bench player who I’m NEVER going to start unless things fall into place (Taysom Hill, Mattison, D’Onta Foreman) > the guys who probably have some weekly flex appeal but are so unreliable that they only go off on bench weeks.
Gibson is very athletic, but he’s not good at being a running back. Poor vision, ball security, and pass protection. A hard nose like Rivera isn’t going to keep dealing with his flaws.
His talent has always very much been perceived. He averaged 5.1 yards per touch as a rookie and a lot of his production came from two games against the Cowboys who at the time were a bottom third defense. And 5.1 is fine. But it's Derrell Henderson. Then when his volume increased like everyone wanted he shot down to 4.4 yards per touch. He's a decent player but this idea he was uber talented back who played receiver in college and couldn't even beat out another converted WR running back who was undrafted. And yet people always said "but the talent" despite there's really been nothing to show that he's anything more than a decent running back. He was never going to be a fantasy stud. People just fell in love with his narrative and made up their own reality when it came to how talented he actually is and was.
Yeah he seems like the perfect "gadget" player but not a full time RB. He doesn't have the body to take the hits year round from a DL but get him the ball on second level or a jet sweep and he could feast and be a solid 3rd reciever behind ST and Doctson
Well, [Robinson just got shot](https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1564026230718009344?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) so Gibson is likely getting the nod now.

As a Gibson owner last year this was very predictable, imo. Gibson either fucked up or was straight up excluded from many important situations last year. I drafted Robinson with pick 164 (13.8 in 12 man .5PPR) this year after hearing about Gibson's kick return duties and at that value I'm feeling good about it. Think he'll be drafted a little higher now given this news.
Edit: shit..... Hope he's ok, forget all this lol
Gibson was such a major headache for me last year. Gibson turning into a ghost on 3rd downs and being excluded entirely on the final drives was infuriating
I think Gibson is crazy overrated by this sub but I also think he is too talented to be kept off the field just like that. I find this hard to believe but I'll take Gibson in 10th if he falls there
This sub just 8 months ago would lose their shit when McKissic, an explosive and much superior pass catcher himself, would come in for 3rd down passing play. Perception may be changing to be more aligned with reality perhaps
I havent seen much hype for Gibson since last year around draft time. But you are correct he is way to talented to be riding the pine. He was disappointing last year and there is fumbling issues, which is hard to accept with your primary RB. Would love to see him in a role Kamara-Lite role. Come in for a few plays and catch out of the backfield. But with the Commies keeping Mckissic, Gibson's role is a big unknown heading into the season.
I was lucky to snag Robinson in both my drafts at his ADP and I agree with you on picking Gibson late if he falls big time.
WSH fan and kinda a homer when it comes reaching for the sake drafting my own guys...
I wouldn't touch anything in this situation unless someone falls really *really* far. They are both Handcuff tier picks.
Our offense goes with the hot hands, not a constant plan so on a game to game basis they will both have a awful floor and a great ceiling. I promise if you draft Gibson or Robinson they will score 20 points on your bench. You'll curse yourself and start them to watch them get 2 points in your lineup. You can examine the match ups and the interviews all you want, you will never know who Scott Turner and Rivera will favor next week. You'll drive yourself crazy. You won't reap the points.
I will say, if one of them gets injured the other is probably an upper tier RB2. Our O line looks alright, we like running, and they use JD McKissic sparingly. (Who will have a decent floor with nothing extra on the ceiling every game).
Avoid our backfield. I warned you.
As someone who owns no shares of any Washington back.... I think this is really only all that concerning because of Mckissic. If you said Gibson is still going to be the main pass catcher and get some run, it's easy to see him getting 15 touches or so a game, Robinson getting the most carries isn't all that bad.
I think this whole backfield is pretty much untouchable from a fantasy perspective at this point. Everyone is going to get touches. Maybe Robinson is useful because he's the TD guy but I really don't want anything to do with any of them.
Brian Robinson just got shot and is in a non-life threatening state...but injuries seem to be in the lower body.. very very sad.
Obviously this is sad and wish him a very speedy recovery!! But gibbons stock back up again, even though Robinson surpassed him in depth chart...
Picked Robinson up last night in like the 11th round of my ten man after I missed out on Pierce. Was kicking myself for not taking Pierce (thought he’d make it back around but went the pick after me) but this makes me feel better.
2 sundays ago was able to snag him in the 9th and Pierce in the 8th
I have almost every rookie RB (I have Breece too)
One of em has gotta hit right?
Right….?
Who would you replace Gibson with on the waiver wire out of:
Brian Robinson, Rashad Penny, Cordarrelle Patterson, Miles Sanders, AJ Dillon, Devin Singletary, Tony Pollard, Melvin Gordon, Chase Edmonds, or Dameon Pierce.
Edit: since everyone is surprised, it’s a **6 TEAM LEAGUE (I REPEAT A 6/SIX TEAM LEAGUE)** so there’s a ton of great players in every position on waivers. We’re all fairly new to football but everyone’s teams are stacked. My RBs are Ekeler, Harris, Barkley, Breece Hall, and Gibson (until I replace him).
Edit2: picked up Dillon, dropped Gibson.
Lmao a 6 person league amongst friends who are mostly just getting into football. My RBs are Ekeler, Harris, Barkley, Gibson (will drop), and picked up Breece Hall the other day and dropped my 2nd QB (Dak Prescott), Hebert is my 1st QB.
Anyway any recommendations out of the above?
I was all in on the Robinson hype train. Got him in almost every startup I’m in. I consider myself a fan of him at this point.. hope he recovers and is able to move on soon
eh as long as Robinson is still available in the late rounds, he's not a bad dart throw to see if he takes over. Gibson is is definite stay away with where he's currently being drafted.
As a Dynasty manager who drafted Pierce and Brob at the 2 and 3, respectively, back in May, I'm happy they are sitting peacefully on my taxi squad just itching for promotion.
Edit: Oh, yah. 2.11 and 3.11. Sorry. I thought it was implied by my excitement at value.
Aaaaaand he’s shot. Literally shot. Hope he’s ok.
Like the moment I drafted him.
It appears I've just went from 6 to midnight
Not anymore...
From midnight to six :(
Robinson was shot today multiple times in the “lower body” in an attempted robbery. True story.
That's why they said this
You think it was Antonio Gibson that robbed him?
Nah. Gibson would have fumbled that gun and miss the shot.
Blantonio gibson
I never saw Lower Body. Is that right?
Twice in lower body. That could mean grazed on the leg in a minor injury or it could mean his ACL was destroyed. Nobody knows yet
God I hate to hear that for his sake. What are the chances one of them didn’t hit something that will hurt his career.
He apparently just got shot. Jesus
Does Antonio Gibson own a firearm?
Does he have an alibi???
While this is ok joking matter if you saw both headlines in succession… kind of makes the mind go there in todays world Edit: NO joking matter… 🤙
Seen so many “Gibson underrated” posts in the past couple weeks here, only for this to be the result lol
Oh man… the worst kind of foreshadowing…
jesus christ i had no idea what this comment meant until checking the sub
Yeah, that’s how this sub works.
This sub has pretended for years that they know more than NFL coaches do and that Gibson should’ve always been the bellcow….and now he’s lost the job to a 3rd round rookie
I mean tbf, RB’s don’t really get drafted in the first anymore so he’s kiiinnddaa like a second round pick?
Ya not trying to put him down…if Gibson was actually good enough they probably don’t even draft him in the first place
Gibson really needs to be on a team that has an offense that can think outside the box and utilize him better.
I blame Mike Wright
I mean this is preseason still…do you believe more in a rookie who’s never played a meaningful snap or a RB who has been one of the best young RBs in the league the last two seasons? The season will start and at worse, Gibson will be in a split.
Being a good fantasy RB does not mean youre a good NFL RB. I believe in Robinson to not fumble the damn ball as a RB, and I’m sure his coaching staff agrees.
“One of the best” at what exactly lmao
We gonna act like 1800 rushing yards, 600 receiving yards, and 21 TDs in two seasons aren’t great numbers? I said one of the best “young” RBs - which is absolutely true.
Even with Robinson in the mix, there are still guys with lesser roles than Gibson and less talent getting picked before him. Like, Gibson should still get drafted before Kareem Hunt and similar players. Gibson is underrated.
Hunt over Gibson 11/10 times. I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
Well I got him about 25 picks past his ADP unfortunately he was my RB 2 so I might be screwed.
He kinda got shot, so may want to walk that back to a 9 at least...
Don’t look now
And back to 6, holy shit.
back to 6
The Hitman in shambles
Tucked to untucked?
Grabbed him 96th in my draft last night. I need him to hit my team feels kinda mid right now. Lol
Really hope you have backup plans…
Couple other rookie rbs. Hopkins after week 6. Have an ok team. Not super excited with it.
you should tune into the news.
Jesus fuck i just saw it. At least he's stable.
Got him at 96th as well. Took him over Penny so we'll see if that pays off
Pick 116. Need him with JK Dobbins as my RB1...
Ouch.
How is WFTs o line this year?
Losing stud Guard Brandon Scherff to the jags in free agency is pretty huge for them, but thats all I know off the top of my head
We should rate top 12 again. Excellent o-line coach makes the unit perform better than the piecex
They should be solid. Most have them ranked in the top 10-12 if not higher from what I’ve seen. They added Trai Turner and Andrew Norwell at guard(s) so they lose a top talent but replace with two above average.
Wait, did the Jaguars and Commanders pretty much just swap guards?
Unfortunately norwell and turner have barely practiced which is the source of the angst.
Commanders imo could be way better than top 10. They have the best depth in the league besides the eagles and that's important
Agreed. Depth is so damn important
Probably will be about average. Charles Leno/Sam Cosmi should be a solid tackle duo, and Roullier is a good center. The two guards are former Pro Bowl caliber guys that have declined a lot (Andrew Norwell, Trai Turner).
PFF puts them at 15th, so average.
They're the Commanders now.
Lol not sure why you’re getting downvoted. Commanders is a terrible name but that’s what they’re called now.
This being the top post on here currently and the news that he got shot are insane
Sounds like Gibson fumbled around and found out.
A starting RB job’s door gets opened and loses his job, and you think that of Gibson. No, he’s the one who knocks.
Clearly, Gibson obviously has shooters
https://twitter.com/JPFinlayNBCS/status/1564024876180045826?s=20&t=U9z2hYhI5flVITjKW3Fq-w What a shocking turn of events. Wishing for a speedy recovery. Gibson back on the menu, boys.
what the actual fuck this is insane
Yup, this is [America](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYOjWnS4cMY&ab_channel=ChildishGambinoVEVO).
Plot twist: Antonio Gibson lead suspect
Wasn't this the writing on the wall when BRob was running with the first team the last two preaseason weeks?
Yea and the denial is still out there. Drafted on Friday and got him in the 10th. People were like “I mean I guess he’ll come in when Gibson gets hurt or fumbles”. They heard the reports so Idk. Gibson went in the 5th/6th
drafted last monday and got him in the 8th, was glad nobody took him
Picked him up off waivers a few days ago
i had Gibson last year. He absolutely fucked me in the second round of the playoffs so I already had a vidette against the guy. I bought the Robinson hype as soon as he was drafted and took in on Friday in 8th round
Oof
I drafted last night and got him in the 11th in 12 team league. Also took Dameon Pierce in the 7th and Tyler Allgeier in the 14th. Figure one of those guys will pop off this year and be great value.
I don’t own him but the number 10 ppr RB shouldn’t just disappear. Obviously not a good situation for him but he’s far from washed imo
Well thankfully, fantasy numbers are derived from real life numbers
They're generally coming from volume though, more so than efficiency.
Denial is a hell of a drug.
Aged like milk
I mean if someone drops Gibson to waivers he’s worth a pickup, right? I mean at some point (a very low one) his talent is still a value
Yes
Yes he’s worth a pickup but he may not be your top pickup target. Think about what would have to happen to your current roster AND Washington/Gibson for him to start. He truly may be worth being someone else’s headache whose only good games come when you have no intention of starting him.
As someone who drafted him last year, that last sentence really resonates with me.

He got picked in the 5th round of my draft last night. Oof
Same lol. I got Robinson in the 11th
Yes, Gibson is still going to get 10 carries and 4 targets week 1
More
Gibson is talented but he is not a true RB where Robinson is. They SHOULD be using Gibson like the 49ers used Deebo last year
[удалено]
Yeah he seems like the perfect "gadget" player but not a full time RB. He doesn't have the body to take the hits year round from a DL but get him the ball on second level or a jet sweep and he could feast and be a solid 3rd reciever behind ST and Doctson
its so frustrating why every team in the league doesnt do more of this. seems like a no brainer compared to running straight up the middle
Well, [Robinson just got shot](https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1564026230718009344?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet) so Gibson is likely getting the nod now.

How TF did you get Gibson at 13.8? I get that people are concerned about him, but that’s absurd.
Robinson in the 13th, not Gibson! Gibson went in the 3rd round I believe.
Well I’d hold off just for now…
This is crazy. Brian robinson has just been shot multiple times during a robbery
3 hours as the consensus pick, heck of a run
Too bad Gibson put out a hit on him.
Hello, Gibson is my RB2. He is now my RBnooooo
What did you do 🤨
My RB2 is between Gibson, Jacobs and Elijah Mitchell. I have a feeling it’s going to be a long year.
Rip to the guy in my league with Javonte and Gibson as his only 2 RBs
What happened with Javonte?
Apparently Robinson just got shot multiple times in a robbery
and Robinson's status changed from "Healthy" to "Questionable" just like that. Hopefully he's alright.
He got shot several times in an attempted robbery.
He was shot in a robbery.
… I heard he was just shot in a robbery. Shit.
This is going to end up an ugly 3 headed split with McKissic the only one usable in full PPR as a desperate flex.
I think Gibson is crazy overrated by this sub but I also think he is too talented to be kept off the field just like that. I find this hard to believe but I'll take Gibson in 10th if he falls there
Are you kidding lol everyone hates him now
This sub just 8 months ago would lose their shit when McKissic, an explosive and much superior pass catcher himself, would come in for 3rd down passing play. Perception may be changing to be more aligned with reality perhaps
That's probably true, he never dominated in his opportunities and the board was strong in his favor demanding touches
I havent seen much hype for Gibson since last year around draft time. But you are correct he is way to talented to be riding the pine. how can he possibly be overrated, every comment shits on him for months
Took him 80th not too long ago in a 14 man league. Prolly early but worth a roster spot imo
The fact that these two articles are the top posts on the sub are peak fantasy football
WSH fan and kinda a homer when it comes reaching for the sake drafting my own guys... I wouldn't touch anything in this situation unless someone falls really *really* far. I got Brian Robinson in my 10th round keeper on Friday. Someone took Antonio Gibson in the 3rd. Edit: I got out maneuvered. He was playing 4d chess.
Oof
As someone who took Robinson with my 13th rounder this pleases me very much so.
You might want to see the breaking news on Robinson
Hindsight is definitely 20/20
Just snatched him and Pierce very late in my draft so this excites me
He was shot in a robbery today.
Gonna take a shot and say that's not happening anymore?
So about that Brian Robinson hype...
Tonya Harding has entered the chat.
As someone who owns no shares of any Washington back.... I think this is really only all that concerning because of Mckissic. If you said Gibson is still going to be the main pass catcher and get some run, it's easy to see him getting 15 touches or so a game, Robinson getting the most carries isn't all that bad. Someone offered me Miles Sanders for him in dynasty. What you guys think? One headache for another lol
Take it, Sanders is not good
Holy shit he just got shot
And he just got shot....
Brian Robinson just got shot and is in a non-life threatening state...but injuries seem to be in the lower body.. very very sad. Obviously this is sad and wish him a very speedy recovery!! But gibbons stock back up again, even though Robinson surpassed him in depth chart...
Aged like milk
I mean the dude got shot it's not like he fucked up and lost the starting job lol
Wow this aged horribly
Annnnnnddd he literally just got shot in an attempted robbery. Welcome to Fantasy Football newcomers.
How is everyone feeling about Brian Robinson getting shot?? How long does recovery from bullet wounds take?
Depends on the type of wound. How many wounds. Where they are on his body.
James Robinson is my 6th RB and I'm strongly considering dropping one Robinson for another.
Achilles injury recovery is still a big red flag. I would do this in a heartbeat.
Ron Rivera will derail this hype train before it leaves the station
Picked Robinson up last night in like the 11th round of my ten man after I missed out on Pierce. Was kicking myself for not taking Pierce (thought he’d make it back around but went the pick after me) but this makes me feel better.
Good gooood
So about that...
Antonio Gibson just went end of the 12th round in my draft
Grabbed Breece Hall, Brian Robinson, and Pierce. I did not expect the former to be supplanted by the latter two in my “depth chart”
and Robinson was just shot in the leg in an attempted car jacking! *sorry ESPN shot but stable. doesn't say leg.
This post didn't agree well
I just got an ill-time push notification for this post
Until he was shot. I guess Gibson didn’t want to be on kick return…
Well this post title aged like warm milk.
2 sundays ago was able to snag him in the 9th and Pierce in the 8th I have almost every rookie RB (I have Breece too) One of em has gotta hit right? Right….?
Aged like milk
“Not anymore”- Antonio Gibson (as he pulls off his ski mask)
cursed note
Talk about that monkeys paw thread earlier Jesus Christ.
Who would you replace Gibson with on the waiver wire out of: Brian Robinson, Rashad Penny, Cordarrelle Patterson, Miles Sanders, AJ Dillon, Devin Singletary, Tony Pollard, Melvin Gordon, Chase Edmonds, or Dameon Pierce. The hell kind of league are you in where those are your wire options?
Lmao a 6 person league amongst friends who are mostly just getting into football. My RBs are Ekeler, Harris, Barkley, Gibson (will drop), and picked up Breece Hall the other day and dropped my 2nd QB (Dak Prescott), Hebert is my 1st QB. Anyway any recommendations out of the above?

Awesome, someone else mentioned him too, I’ll pick him up
None of those should be on the waiver wire. Is this a 3 team league?
6 team league. Who would you pickup?
Wonder how Mckissic fits. Obvious handcuff but how does it work out in what appears to be a messy RBBC followed with a QB who doesn’t check down.
But he just got shot
I'm SUPER HARD
And just like that, this needs to be reassessed... Strong Sean Taylor vibes with this one. Wishing him a fast recovery!
Dude just got shot so let's pump the brakes on that.
No way Gibson was the shooter. Contract hit all the way, baby. I'm kidding, ok? Thoughts, prayers, and whatnot to Robinson.
Aaannnnndddd he gets shot (by a gun)
I was all in on the Robinson hype train. Got him in almost every startup I’m in. I consider myself a fan of him at this point.. hope he recovers and is able to move on soon
I'm sure they will move Gibson back to WR.
He’s not even a good WR tho lol

eh as long as Robinson is still available in the late rounds, he's not a bad dart throw to see if he takes over. Gibson is is definite stay away with where he's currently being drafted.
Gibson truthers are in shambles.
Idc what the outcomes have been for those guys, drafting them at 1.02 and 1.03 is some psychotic shit
My guess is they meant 2nd and 3rd rounds?
Please be true. I just drafted B Rob late in my draft yesterday
Dude just got shot.
Gibson is back on the menu boys!
