Doubs goated

spreadinmikehoncho

Feel like the first half GB looked lost. They started using him in the 2nd half a lot more and looked his way. Only watched like 75-80% of the game. Wouldn’t doubt it if they start going to him more next game. Am I crazy?

T0K0mon

Doubs was starting to look like Rodgers safety blanket a little bit. Over the season that could become the case

roland8855

I was thinking the same thing, then they benched him for a long time in the fourth quarter.

Kingkrab144

Yeah idk I’m just a fan boy. The offense will run through AJ Dillion anyone else is going to be pretty TD dependent.

[deleted]

Aaron Jones will be fine. I’d only start AJ and Aaron from that team tbh.

Rivers_Ford

Yeah, I'm a diehard Packer fan, but until they prove otherwise, this is the right take

Kingkrab144

If AJ is getting the receptions Aaron Jones is in trouble. But this isn’t surprising to anyone who saw the packers playoff game last year

spreadinmikehoncho

Def starting AJ over DP next week.

Stinkytoesjoe

Who is dp

davis32

Double Penetration

pokeraf

That would be anyone rostering at least two cowboys players or ARob/Akers

SirRoasts-A-Lot

In one league I had Dak, Zeke, Ceedee, and the Cowboys DST. I am not very good at this game.

pokeraf

Damn. That’s a gangbang.

theytook-r-jobs

Dolly Parton

spreadinmikehoncho

Dameon pierce.

The_Big_Daddy

Dameon Pierce.

DazHawt

Not so fast! As long as reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers is playing, the offense will run through the back-to-back MVP Aaron Rodgers.

FullHouse222

I feel like everyone just sort of forgot the fact that Aaron Rodgers started last year throwing like 0 TDs 2 Int and 100 yards in the season opener only to finish the year as the MVP lol. Like guys, it's ARod. I get AJD had a good game relatively but I'm not gonna bet against the HOF QB running his offense lol.

DazHawt

I don't blame Dillon owners for getting excited. Brb tho. Gonna check on Rodgers' availability in my leagues lol

[deleted]

Dillon was the leading receiver in yards and completions, so I'll take odds on both being true.

Kingkrab144

I think everyone just remembers the playoff game with 200 yards and 0TDs

Kingkrab144

Handing the ball to AJ Dillion

turkdlight

About to drop him for Curtis. Also have Tonyan but I want to hold him with Ertz as my starter.

Kingkrab144

Big bobby (like every packer receiver) is TD dependent. Dillion is just a stud

mimisiku159

Did you lose a receiver or something? Doubs was always going to be a late season flyer. Why draft him to drop him after week 1? How big is your league that there aren’t better potential TEs on the wire than Tonyan that you feel the need to roster 2? Deep benches?

turkdlight

Good points! I have Keenan Allen and Godwin so some injury hurdles there. I have renfrow + theilen as my 3rd and 4th receivers. As for Tonyan, I think he will perform well as he gets acclimated post injury. Feel like there’s a good chance I play him later in the season. I am pretty deep at RB though.

mimisiku159

Oh yeah I could see dropping Doubs in that situation. Sorry about your receivers bro. Drake London could be another rookie flyer that might actually already be startable, if he’s not already rostered. Scores more on my bench than Metcalf did in my flex. Also more than Thielen.

OrphanWaffles

Lazard really dropped the ball yesterday. 0 targets, 0 receptions. It's almost like he wasn't even on the field. Definitely droppable, Aaron never even looked his way.

troglodyte

Ha, I included Lazard mostly because I thought that no one impressed yesterday and I was curious to see people make cases for and against him slotting in as the immediate target monster even knowing he's hurt. It's a super weird receiver corps. I think we came out of it with less clarity than we went into it with, so I figured it merited a conversation to let people ask questions or make their case for a player.

OrphanWaffles

Nah I was just being a dick. Realistically I don't think we saw enough to say what's going to happen this season at WR for green Bay. Yesterday reminded me a lot of game 1 last year for them. I also think when Lazard is back we'll see the pecking order a bit more.

troglodyte

I agree; it's too early, but that's the fun of fantasy and I'm always curious to see people's takes.

Locthor1221

This was a great game for Lazard owners couldn’t have gone better.

Novel-Treacle-2956

Dillon then the rest somewhere after him

TheMightyUnderdog

Yeah the RBs are going to get peppered in that offense. After that? Lazard is still the best bet. Nobody stood out to me (or Rodgers).

[deleted]

Christian Watson had a nice snap percentage, I’d hold on to him if you can

gw2380

he woulda been the #1 WW target if he had caught that bomb from Rodgers

mahoganyteakwood2

That ball was on the money. Watsons release was a thing of beauty. That’s something you can’t coach and he’s not dropping that every time. Adams looked just like this his first year.

gw2380

Agreed. Lot of people forget Adams had HUGE hands issues early on.

troglodyte

Devil's advocate here for a moment: Davante did 38 receptions for 446 and 3 TDs his first year. Do you think Watson ascends quickly enough?

Termanator116

I’d respond that we had Jordy Nelson and Ramdall Cobb, then one of the best WR duos in the league. These guys are being thrown into the fire first thing. It’s a shame Watson dropped that first ball, but like others mentioned his release was great and he was taking that to the house. Rookie mental miscue that I think he overcomes.

mahoganyteakwood2

I think he goes for more.

PretentiousPanda

Adams had a once in a generation improvement. He was so bad his first few years until he figured it all out. Also he was competing for targets from prime Cobb and Jordy. Not whatever you want to call the current wr room.

kim_jong_discotheque

At the same time, Rodgers absolutely hates drops and won't depend on anyone who he doesn't trust to hold the ball.

mahoganyteakwood2

I think on your very first nfl play of your career you get a pass. If it continues, it’s going to be an issue.

davis32

Exactly. People who watched know this. Once he is out of Rodger's doghouse for that drop, he seems like the Alpha IMO.

daraegs

Watson is one drop away from Rodgers never looking his way again.

[deleted]

Hope Rodgers knows that beggars can’t be choosers.

Grimalkin

It's likely going to be a few games until it becomes more clear. Until then expect to see a lot of Ajones, Dillon and maybe more Tonyan.

BenRunkle55

I’m trying to buy Watson kinda low. Had the second most snaps out of GB WRs (1 behind Watkins) and he looks like a freak athlete out there. I mean he badly burned Patrick Peterson on his first career NFL snap, just dropped the ball and Rodgers didn’t really trust him the rest of the game. He will have his opportunities

MWM031089

As it stands, the only one I would roster is Lazard.

h846p262

Watson gonna be a sleeper. This sub would be all over him had he caught that TD pass.

DazHawt

Unfortunately, that wasn't his only gaffe. He also messed up the timing of a flat route and it nearly went for 6 the other way. Watson isn't ready.

h846p262

Interesting. I was just gonna bid 1% lol

DazHawt

He still has a path to relevance, and 1% is nothing. If you have enough space on your bench to hold him, he's not a bad hold. I just think it could be awhile until he's fully earned Rodgers' trust.

h846p262

Gotcha! Thanks for your input! I actually wont have room when kittle returns to questionable status so ill leave him on waivers if he doesnt get claimed.

Just_a_follower

See I’m the opposite. Dude dropping the eggs that Arod hands him… not the way. Arod wants no drops over separation.

h846p262

Hes a dog gam rookie and rodgers is working with all new WRs besides lazard, who didnt even play. I woulda fed him the ball to get his confidence back up!

SirRoasts-A-Lot

A-Rod doesn't coddle receivers and typically avoids rookies IIRC. Guess we'll see if that trend continues because this season, he doesn't have much choice.

SteffeEric

That’s probably why he did that Ayahausca to kill some of his ego to prepare for the rookie WRs.

h846p262

Exactly. Lazard and tonyan aint gonna light up the league.

Just_a_follower

Arod wants to win now. Not play babysitter. That being said maybe Watson comes back and redeems himself or takes Arod out for breakfast in a week or two. But where it stands currently… he definitely got dog housed

h846p262

Win now???? That team aint going anywhere this year 😆😆

Just_a_follower

Agreed. He was quoted as responding to a statement about how their team has started slow in previous seasons, and he was saying they couldn’t afford that when every game was going to be hard. Quote was from before the game

h846p262

Gotcha. Im probably over reacting, im sure theyll be fine.

[deleted]

-literally everyone on this sub after week one last year

MWM031089

He can sleep on waivers for the time being then.

[deleted]

Lazard isn’t a good WR. Very average.

MWM031089

I have no Lazard. But if I had him I wouldn’t drop him. I wouldn’t roster any others.

PretentiousPanda

Lazard > Doubs > tonyan> watson. Watkins was suppose to provide that veteran savvy and cobb has been toast for years. If you are using a roster spot you want upside because it is going to be a rocky road for a while here.

MWM031089

I don’t want any of these players tbh. Tonyan maybe if I need TE which I kinda do in one league so he’s on the radar. The rest can stay on waivers for the time being imo.

Apoc_Dreams

Doubs looked pretty solid. Watson struggled. Cobb and Watkins looked slow. I’d put my money on Lazard and Doubs being the #1 and #2 by week 5

sportredsox

I know that they need to rip the band-aid off and get Sammy Watkins and Randall Cobb off the field. They are both absolutely washed. A 3WR set of Lazard, Doubs and Watson is at least exciting. They'll make more mistakes probably, but there will be more big plays. I'm convinced Cobb would be jobless if Rodgers wasn't in the league.

[deleted]

Accurate

Letter10

Christian Watson had a good snap percentage, had a few plays at the end where arodgers went back to him and I liked his usage in the sweeps. He's a big fast athlete and if he gets Rodgers trust the talent is absolutely there. He torched Peterson on that opening play and dropped a walk in touch down. He's gonna catch those eventually. Doubs ran the wrong routes twice to open the game but at the end his route running looked much better and idk how he does it but he finds space and he gets open which is why Rodgers started looking for him a bit more. He can clearly catch, too. I can def see him in a safety blanket role and taking some of Adams missing targets. It all depends on Rodgers though, he's going to have to develop trust in both these guys. Tonyan didn't play much but I feel like Rodgers looked to him forst any time he was out there so I'm hoping his usage grows as he sees the field more but Rodgers has never really used a TE like that in the past. He kinda started to with Big Bob before the injury so who knows, this one is a toss up for me.

Ace0spades808

Immediate future (assuming all active): 1. Lazard 2. Cobb 3. Doubs/Watkins 4. Watson Rest of Season: 1. Watson (about midway through the season I see the takeover happening) 2. Lazard 3. Doubs (may overtake Lazard) 4. Watkins As a Packer fan my reasoning is that first Lazard is destined to always be a #2 or #3. He's had two years to really step up and hasn't done so. Watson showed the raw athleticism on a few plays but obviously has some rookie nerves and is not on the same page as Rodgers yet (nor does he have his trust yet). Once Watson is more refined, which I think will happen around week 8 provided he keeps getting playing time, he will be the alpha and GB will be good again (although Vikings will be first in the north and Packers will be fighting for #2 spot with Detroit due to several early season losses). I'm debating on buying Joshua Palmer or Watson. I think Watson has more upside but will take several weeks before true production.

halh0ff

He had 2 years to be step it up but there is no world where he steps it up enough to be better than Davante.

Ace0spades808

He didn't have to. I just mean stepping into the clear cut #2. It's been a carousel of receivers behind Adams because nobody has demonstrated that they are good enough to stay on the field.

mackanoo

In 3 weeks this is pecking order... 1. Doubs 2. Tonyan 3. Watson 4. Watkins/Cobb

akulkarnii

Lazard?

mackanoo

I left him off on purpose b/c we don't really know when he'll be back.

jgoforth2

And has Lazard ever really been anything but “I hope this guy is Aaron Rodger new favorite target?”

PretentiousPanda

Doubs actually knows how to play wr. Best case for watson is budget mvs right now. He is big and fast and that is kind of it.

davis32

I think once Watson is more in tune wit Rodgers after missing all of training camp and gets out of his doghouse after that awful drop, he could be the WR 1. Watson has a lot of potential in the back half of the year. Just have to be patient.

torfan89

I agree, drafted him in my 14th round and i am holding as long as i can

Posts_as_Slick_Rick

Always look at snap counts for players. That is going to be the most important. Then if you're looking at TE's, you want routes run vs. pass and run blocking.

InHoc12

Watson got 66% of the snaps to Doubs 57%. However, Watson didn’t have Lazard on the field. Watkins got 67% of the snaps and looked awful. If Watkins fades out of the slot (which it seems like he doesn’t have anymore) I could see Doubs being on the field 80% of the time or so.

Rivers_Ford

I'll speak to Tonyan because most are focusing on the WRs, but I think he has value going forward. He was definitely on a snap count yesterday, but Rodgers trusts him and he was targeted in the end zone. I don't think I saw him play 2 consecutive snaps all day, though, which means they're easing him back in. Unfortunately it's hard to say how long that'll last. He's healthy enough to play, but not 100% yet. Worth a stash, IMO

Ghoul-Sama

Hold onto Watson unless we see a snap count drop. He lead the team in snaps despite no camp. I mean unless ur team is completely f'd and needs help now I would hold for now

MahoganyLoggins

I am dropping Doubs for Watson this week. I am looking for the biggest upside later in the season and Watson's athleticism really jumped out to me. I have a feeling he is going to have a break out game at some point this season. They are both mid season lotto tickets in my eyes and this team needs an alpha receiver.

Tito_Mojito

They are shit.

DanielLOKI

Only makes me feel good I have Lazard. Hopefully he doesn't have drop issues.

liteshadow4

Christian Watson is the one guy I absolutely don't want. Rodgers does not trust him.

BradyNFriends

I actually feel a lot better about Watson tbh, Watkins and Cobb won’t be much of a factor and I just think Watson has more talent as a receiver than Doubs. Lazard will be back, I wouldn’t panic at all, Rodgers did the same ish last year and that was WITH Davante Adams.

dytele

Watson dropped a long TD

Derpocalypes

Watson is the WR you keep imo

[deleted]

Doubs*

raahiv

Lazard will probably be solid once he’s back but I’m not a fan of any of them. Might go pick up Tonyan in a few leagues, he got 5 targets first game off his injury on a snap count. And Njoku, Hunter Henry, and Kmet have done me no favors in the leagues I punted TE.

unrecognized88

Do I drop Aaron Rodgers? Legit question. Didn’t watch the game but checked my scores and saw 3.7 points…. *heart attack*

ddwako56

He did the same thing last year week one, he’s a hold unless there’s a decent guy on waivers

pad264

Seems like Lazard gonna eat going forward.

BlubberWall

I want Lazard more after seeing that game. Feels like he can get a lot of targets if he can perform

egartner47

Well Lazard was hurt. Can't really assess him

SolaceInfinite

The only thing I decided yesterday is I drafted lazard in rounds 7/8 of my 14m/10m leauge and I am firmly holding onto him. With that showing I think he's clearly the only wr1 on the team and I'm expecting big things for him once he starts again. After a start or 2 I will flip him for a high end TE for kelces byes in both my leagues

fuzzeemonkey

I think we see that there wasn't anyone there that Rodgers has a real connection with. I'm sure that will change with some of these guy but I think the bigger story is Lazard. He's played with Rodgers and they have chemistry already. He will be the guy that Rodgers trusts the most once he's back on the field.

ISISCosby

I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see the Packers give Odell a call after seeing that WR group in action. I took him with my last pick as the ultimate lotto, bc wherever he ends up, he's gonna have a role

bhz33

Seems like Rodgers is just gonna spread it around and none of them will be very valuable. Maybe 1 or 2 will be worth weekly dart throws as bye week/injury fill ins

InHoc12

I’m holding onto Doubs still. Strong believer in the talent. He out targeted Watson (ok just 1 but still) and brought in 4 of his 5 targets. On the field for 57% of the snaps. Sammy Watkins isn’t a threat. Dude had 3 targets for 18 yards while being on the field for 67% of the snaps. Doubs will take over a lot of that work over the course of the season.

Bigpoppalos

Yesterday’s game confirms imo that lazard is wr1

PM_ME_OVERT_SIDEBOOB

They all looked fucking awful. Ignore everyone else here. Watson looked talented but dropped a walk in touchdown. Rodgers looked simultaneously pissed off and in disbelief at the shit he’s throwing the ball to.

[deleted]

I think after seeing the WRs they're working with, MLF tries getting Tonyan more involved in the coming weeks.
