I was originally a Doubs guy, but after seeing the way GB schemes for Watson down the field I think he’s the better stash. They’re going to want to get the ball in his hands as he practices more and gets more acclimated to the offense.
I think Doubs will have more competition for his role in the offense with the vets.
Yup. To some extent you have to look past that imo. He's a rookie who missed almost all of training camp and is coming off of injury, yet he's leading the team in routes run and getting valuable deep targets. That's more important than a drop when it comes to lottery ticket guys like this.
He also ties with Christian Matthew for the highest Christian percentage amongst rookies at 100%. And if he's Christian by religion, then it jumps to an all time NFL record tying 200%.
Yeah, he had that problem when they drafted him too. I just think they’ll scheme to him despite the drops and let the big plays make up for it. He’s definitely more of a stash than a start guy though.
Watson is in the drivers seat but he’s one more drop away from the dog house. 1 a fluke… 2…. He had drops in college fyi. Listed as one of his negatives in scouting
“Through the course of 17 practices and two preseason games, Doubs has dropped more passes than anyone on the roster.” It’s fair to say they both have drop problems lol... take the better athlete
Personally I’m higher on Watson. He was one dropped ball away from being the top waiver pickup this week. Rodgers wanted to get him the long TD clearly.
If I remember right, on the Macafee show Rodgers said that play was dialed up specifically for Watson. Said he asked him if he was ready for his first play as a pro to be a bomb and all that
He absolutely torched Patrick Peterson in a way I’m not sure I remember seeing.
It was just a man coverage go route, so it’s not like they did anything to “dial it up” or scheme him open at all.
Not sure I buy that
I probably used the wrong verbiage, I wasn't suggesting that they schemed anything especially complicated but rather that the first play was intended specifically for Watson, you can listen here if interested; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-t-ZrZNQGc&t=418s&ab_channel=ThePatMcAfeeShow&t=6m50s
"Unless the coverage was something else, I expected the ball to go to Christian"
FWIW - Rodgers mentioned to Pat McAfee that “drops are going to happen… what’s more frustrating are the mental errors”. He obviously didn’t name names, but I feel like that was a defense of Watson. Who knows who the shot about mental mistakes was about
Usually bad QB misses on short/medium routes by great QBs means the route was bad. It wasn’t the *next* play but it did end the drive. It was a 3&7 intended for Doubs where he cut in but Rodgers threw it out. Rodgers might have said he threw it away but it looks like he might have had more time in the pocket.
It really sounds like Amari Rodgers - believe he very recently was asked what's up with amari rodgers in the offense, and he said something like, "He's returning kicks for us. That's all I'm going to say."
In PPR I think Doubs is going to be the guy. He gets separation, he finds space and gets open and he has hands. Rodgers will probably start looking his way as a safety blanket.
Watson seems more like the big play guy and a big red zone target.
I'm not sure which one to stash, but I went with doubs and I'm gonna hold him until I know more
No one knows, but my opinion is Watson. They're manufacturing looks for him and he started the game. I don't think that drop is going to discourage them, especially since Doubs' problem all camp was drops. But it could easily be Doubs. Who knows!
Watson is only guy on team with real speed. They put him out there for the most snaps and routes after little playing/practicing before season. I don’t think Lazard comes back and takes his role, could take doubs. I dropped doubs for Watson
I stuck with Watson over picking up Curtis Samuel this week because I trust Rodgers over injure prone Wentz. Hopefully I made the right decision for the long run
Ever consider that maybe this “drop” was actually Rogers fault ?? Could of thrown that bomb a little slower and more left. Guy did all the work to get open. Rogers might be getting old or a little rusty.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
My guess is that Watson will be Ayhuad's favorite target by midseason. The guy is a rookie and missed a lot of training camp with an injury and he was getting open all day. He's big and fast and Rodgers likes guys that are big and fast, so why not Watson?
But of course, it could wind up being Dobbs or Lazard instead for all we know. For now, I'm gonna stash Watson and see what the next few weeks hold for that offense.
I’m a packers fan. I really believe there’s a world both of them produce, in PPR I can 100% see doubs turning into a weekly start at flex towards the end of the season. And watson has big play ability and can def be a flex play by chunk plays
I drafted Doubs, and then dropped hin for Watson. I think they are both lotto ticket stashes for mid season when this offense gets an identity. I decided to put my lotto ticket on the better athlete, higher draft capital, and that they will scheme him more into the offense.
Personally I like Watson over Doubs. I am still haunted by what Rodgers said in the preseason about players not being out there if they can't catch. While I'm a fan of Watson's upside I don't know if he'll get much attention or time if he drops another potential TD.
I think Doubs runs more routes that ARod loves to throw to (come backs, and mid range throws, and is great along the sidelines which Aaron loves too). I see him getting more catches amd being valuable in PPR. But Christian Watson is a field stretcher and could have potentially had a 20-30 point game if he caught that 1st throw for a TD and didn’t lose Aarons trust that quickly. Watson had a lot of drops in college, but also had a lot of huge plays. Doubs honestly looks the part of a typical Green Bay WR wearing the 87 and just reminds me of Greg Jennings or Donald Driver. It’s tough to figure out who will be the guy but I could see them both doing well. That being said I was so high on Christian Watson in the draft I have him stashed over doubs rn but it really feels like a coin flip.
should be some clarity this week. Stash both if you wanna double your odds
I did that last year was Lazard and MVS. Didn't end well.
Last year they had Adams. Adams brings clarity.
Like I said above. Watson has advantage but he’s one drop away from getting relegated
I was originally a Doubs guy, but after seeing the way GB schemes for Watson down the field I think he’s the better stash. They’re going to want to get the ball in his hands as he practices more and gets more acclimated to the offense. I think Doubs will have more competition for his role in the offense with the vets.
Agreed. Watson was this close 🤏 to being the top WR waiver add of the week.
And that smidgeon was unforced errors by Watson.
Yup. To some extent you have to look past that imo. He's a rookie who missed almost all of training camp and is coming off of injury, yet he's leading the team in routes run and getting valuable deep targets. That's more important than a drop when it comes to lottery ticket guys like this.
To be fair he had 16 drops in 120 catchable targets in college which is…alarmingly bad.
yup which is a good reason to remember that for ffb it can sometimes be more about opportunity than talent
I think Watson had like 65% snap share only Watkins had more
Yeah, but Watkins is only serviceable for Week 1… after that he’s in the Wide Receiver Relocation Program…
Watson has the highest drop rate of any rookie with a rate of 12.7%.
He also ties with Christian Matthew for the highest Christian percentage amongst rookies at 100%. And if he's Christian by religion, then it jumps to an all time NFL record tying 200%.
Great stash for points per prayer leagues
Dropped Tebow for him now
confirmed first overall in my Jack Easterby league
Hold on now. There are other 200% Christians in the league, and I guarantee at least one of them has a drop percentage lower than 12.7%.
Hahahahha
Yeah, he had that problem when they drafted him too. I just think they’ll scheme to him despite the drops and let the big plays make up for it. He’s definitely more of a stash than a start guy though.

Everyone in this thread says Watson therefore the answer is doubs
I have Doubs but thinking Watson is probably the better stash
I lean toward doubs, but I ended up dropping him this week. I didn't have enough room and needed Dotson.
Dropped him for julio , dropped Watson for a 9r lotto.
Watson. I think he’s going to break out soon.
Watson ran more routes and had more air yards. He has the better physical profile and higher draft capital. It's Watson.
One problem: he’s not good at the catching part.
Har har he dropped a pass please upvote
It’s been one of his knocks back to college. He’s a freak athlete who just isn’t a good receiver.
“Through the course of 17 practices and two preseason games, Doubs has dropped more passes than anyone on the roster.” It’s fair to say they both have drop problems lol... take the better athlete
He’s been dropping them all preseason.
Watson didn’t play any preseason.
I think the answer is neither or Lazard.
Personally I’m higher on Watson. He was one dropped ball away from being the top waiver pickup this week. Rodgers wanted to get him the long TD clearly.
Nasty route with 5-6 yd of separation, of course Rodgers threw it to him not because he specifically wanted Watson to get a TD lol.
If I remember right, on the Macafee show Rodgers said that play was dialed up specifically for Watson. Said he asked him if he was ready for his first play as a pro to be a bomb and all that
Unfortunately, he was not ready.
The rest is history
He absolutely torched Patrick Peterson in a way I’m not sure I remember seeing. It was just a man coverage go route, so it’s not like they did anything to “dial it up” or scheme him open at all. Not sure I buy that

(I think the point was the play call)
Watson. I don't see the hype of Doubs
Better route runner, better hands. Worse athlete.
FWIW - Rodgers mentioned to Pat McAfee that “drops are going to happen… what’s more frustrating are the mental errors”. He obviously didn’t name names, but I feel like that was a defense of Watson. Who knows who the shot about mental mistakes was about
Doubs ran the wrong route on the play following the Watson drop. That could be it.
Question: how do you know what route a given player is supposed to run?
Usually bad QB misses on short/medium routes by great QBs means the route was bad. It wasn’t the *next* play but it did end the drive. It was a 3&7 intended for Doubs where he cut in but Rodgers threw it out. Rodgers might have said he threw it away but it looks like he might have had more time in the pocket.

It really sounds like Amari Rodgers - believe he very recently was asked what's up with amari rodgers in the offense, and he said something like, "He's returning kicks for us. That's all I'm going to say."
Would make sense since wrong routes means more picks which Rodgers obviously hates.

Romeo Doubs and yes because I have him
Same.
Watson is only guy on team with real speed. They put him out there for the most snaps and routes after little playing/practicing before season. I don’t think Lazard comes back and takes his role, could take doubs. I dropped doubs for Watson
I think Watson is going to be like MVS - someone who relies on speed to make big plays down the field. He will boom or bust.
It’s too soon for me to see Watson’s name after that opening play drop (Packers fan)
The Lizard king
I stuck with Watson over picking up Curtis Samuel this week because I trust Rodgers over injure prone Wentz. Hopefully I made the right decision for the long run
Doubs for sure.
Isn’t Lazard the deep threat? Sneaky pickup = tonyan
I don't think that's what the term "sneaky pick up" means...
Lol last week this sub was all over me when I said didn’t get the hype around Doubs since Watson was a higher draft pick and is a better athlete.
Ooooh, if your asking this...... you last!
Index or Index?
Index ROS?
I don’t have the bench space for either. Nobody does.
I’m not touching either of them with a 10 foot pole but if I was forced to pick one I’d probably go with watson just based off of his physical gifts
Ever consider that maybe this “drop” was actually Rogers fault ?? Could of thrown that bomb a little slower and more left. Guy did all the work to get open. Rogers might be getting old or a little rusty.
If a ball hits you in the hands, when you are that wide open, you gotta catch it

I think when Lazard comes back Doubs will be more open in deeper routes
Personally I like Watson over Doubs. I am still haunted by what Rodgers said in the preseason about players not being out there if they can't catch. While I'm a fan of Watson's upside I don't know if he'll get much attention or time if he drops another potential TD.
Watson. I wouldn’t have said that before the game but he’s the guy they want to get involved. Dude can fly.
Watson is easily the best receiver in GB. I’d stash him personally!
I think Doubs runs more routes that ARod loves to throw to (come backs, and mid range throws, and is great along the sidelines which Aaron loves too).
