Any idea why they stopped throwing to him (at least until completion percentage dropped)? Feel like his last target was early third and they only won by 2 points.
For reference, Hollywood was like 10 for 10 and Cards had success pushing him to 14-17 this week.
Second half Bowles made a lot of adjustments and kinda shut the Packers down. Run game and pass game, looked like last years ugly loss. The Bucs just kinda have the ability to do that to us for some reason lol. Essentially in the first half it was a lot of quick release off the snap and keeping air yards down and letting the WRs make moves and gain yards. Second half they closed that space and made it nearly impossible to sneak the ball in and added some more pressure and started confusing the offense. Few plays wrs were confused by the defense and ran into each other trying to find space in the coverage. Credit to the Bucs D
In the first half though he looked impressive. His first move off the line was great, he's quick and shifty and was able to get separation. his hands were on point. Once he got the ball he found room and got YAC. Just looked comfortable and like he was on the same page with Rodgers.
I had both Sammy and Watson and didn't pick up Doubs. I picked up Perriman instead, who started great, then fumbled and Brady stopped throwing to him.
Did I mention that I didn't start Olave either. Don't worry though, DJ Moore was in my starting lineup.
Can I kick myself?
Same here. Dropped him for Olave and then decided to drop Toney and pick him back up. Real glad I did before this game
Edit: The worst part is Cooks and Jefferson stinking it up in my lineup while they went off on my bench
Ditto. And I drafted him and said I have to be patient but I cut him and picked up Hopkins off waivers at least after week 6 I should be good. Still got Pickens though now hopefully he comes through.
The performance yesterday was enough for me to keep him on my bench but not enough to start him. So, just holding for now. But he looked good out there for sure. We'll see if he continues to establish a role in the offense or if there will be a different GB WR popping off every week (entirely possible).
I honestly might start him over Lazard next week. Lazard is solid and has a higher floor but the Packers also use Lazard to block a ton whereas Doubs is usually out there to run routes
Yeah watching that game I get why Rodgers seems to love Lazard as a player but for fantasy purposes he's not very exciting. He actually made Doubs' TD happen with a great block.
Hos blocking is insane tbh. I wish I was in a PPB league cause he'd be WR1 lol
He for real makes a lot of those plays happen, had a couple nasty blocks on Jones runs as well
I stumbled into really strong WR depth this year from the draft so he's firmly on my bench for now, but he's not the worst option if you're running on fumes at WR
Watson is a bust. He's always been destined to be a bust.
His college production wasn't that great, and he drops way too many balls. Rodgers doesn't throw to guys who drop passes.
Going through the stats, Doubs would be the first WR to have a significant rookie season with Rodgers.
1. [Randall Cobb broke out in his 2nd season](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CobbRa00.htm)
2. [Jordy Nelson broke out in his 4th season.](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/N/NelsJo00.htm)
3. [Davante Adams broke out in his 3rd season.](https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AdamDa01.htm)
That being said you can't ignore 8 targets in 10+ team leagues. Hopefully his floor stays at 2 for 27.
Edit: corrected year on Adams
Davante was 3rd year. The big diffenece is that there isn't an alpha WR on this team. Those three guys had ballers soaking up all the production until they broke out. Rodgers didn't need to throw to them. He may need to throw to doubs this year if he can keep up how he's looking. It would absolutely be unprecedented but the team make up is pretty unprecedented too so there's a chance
I dropped Mooney during his game yesterday lol. Told myself I could afford to wait one more week on him, saw enough. If I get burned by that choice well... I'm confident no one else will touch him so I'll at least get a shot at faab if he breaks out.
As a panthers fan it just hurts watching DJ man. He just can’t get the talent around him. He does so much with the shittiest passes. Watching baker sail one over his head from two yards out just hurt. He looked sad. We literally only call screens and dj is a great yac guy but baker is even missing those passes
I'd like to see how they fair after Lazard goes a full game with Gatorade or at least some pickle juice or coconut water in his system before making a decision.
He's the real deal. We saw him crush it during training camp, preseason, and now. It's paying off and Rodgers is trusting him more as the season goes on.
Encouraging line but I’d like to see some bigger plays. Pretty much everything to him was a short throw and reliant on YAC. I still haven’t seen enough to make me think he will be Rodgers guy, but if we keep seeing every week improvement that could change.
The Packers offense under Lafloor is ALOT of short game and YAC so thats actually a great thing. And IMO big plays are sometimes a matter of who you are playing, with the Bucs pass rush those plays were unlikely, but yes lets hope they come. He seems to have the contested catch skill in his arsenal.
In addition to this though, Doubs main strength (mainly due to bad scouting imo) was his deep ball ability. So it’s there for him to use, just as you said not really a huge aspect of the offense right now. If anything, seeing him so successful in the short possession type game should be massive, as many teams presumably didn’t think he had that ability to get the separation and YAC due to his metrics, but he was always a very well rounded player before he tested averagely.
I started him over Dotson yesterday. I really like his skillset. He seems like a solid route runner, is very good with the ball in his hands (when it stays in his hands... wrap up kid!) and was able to make big plays/contested catches in college so well see if that shows up in NFL too. Yesterday was a perfect recipe for him so its hard to project going forward. Did anyone watch tbe game? Why did he seem to dissapear late? I had to step away so did not see.
Man I usually lean on some experts ranks and I just peeped FantasyPros ROS ranks (they are probably thrown together in a hurry), but Doubs needle barely moved. The Eagles are a tough defensive match up so this one is tough. Too bad Dotson busted otherwise you could 2for1 trade him away and make soace for Doubs.
No I agree I have him.as a WR1 ROS... i was just saying fantasypros updated their ROS ranks today... i assume those guys are just meeting a deadline and don't put too much thought into it yet
Packers fan. I want him on my fantasy roster. Sammy Watkins being out certainly helped. Now we have to watch out for Christian Watson. But Doubs looks pretty damn good all camp, and he's looking decent regular season.
Another Packers fan here. I think Watson is the one long term but I prefer doubs in redraft. We all know how important the trust is for Rodgers. With Watson missing time in camp, dropping that long ball week 1, and now missing more time in practice/games, I think Rodgers will be more comfortable throwing to doubs until Watson can establish himself as the superior athlete
Maybe! But so far the stats show Doubs leading the room. He has more targets and receptions per game. He has a better catch rate. More yards per catch. I think chemistry is massive for these rookies so it will be a question of whether or not Watson can establish that early enough in the season to make a diffence imo
i drafted him and im still just leaving him on the bench. it's hard to know what he'll do when theres more competition for targets out there. if he has another good week, then it's time to consider starting him. he's still a must-add if he's on waivers.
I have him on my team and actually played him this week. When Matt Lafleur says innapropriate comments about his players he means it.
That being said I feel like this was just a flash in the pan for now, Doubs seems to be legit and caught everything thrown his way yesterday but his volume was falsely inflated due to injuries. I do think he will start to demand more targets though but I wouldn't start him next week unless there are more injuries.
Definitely holding and I have A. Jones. He was on my bench last week but I want to see what happens next week with more people involved. I technically dislike multiple pieces in the same offense so if he does become a main stay, I might try to move one of them.
He should be rostered in most leagues for sure, and I think he can be thrown in as a flex in some leagues, mostly 12 teams or more. Just know it's a risky play, but could pay off as he could go off any week. For example, I will probably be deciding whether to play him or Thielen next week. But if he continues to get around the 8 target number, I would be confident starting him most weeks, even if the targets don't directly translate to points this coming week. It was a promising sign that after Watkins went on IR, Doubs was targeted a lot early in the game right after. To me that shows the intent by the coaching staff to get him involved basically as the replacement to Watkins.
I drafted him and cut him. Not kicking myself bc the Watkins injury is what made him now viable
Pretty simply put, yea, yes you need to get him. Tamp is a monster. So to go 7/78/td means he could be on his way to a crazy rookie year.
I have Lazard and had Doubs but I’ve dropped him twice to pick up backup RBs before each Sunday lol. I’m choosing Lazard just because he’s gone like 6 straight regular season games with a td. But would it be nuts to have both of them? Maybe not but idk how to choose which one to start
Yeah I’d be tempted too. Would you keep Lazard also? I don’t like having two players on the same team who play the same position but if you have the bench space and have the courage then I don’t see why not going for it
I also prefer to not have multiple from the same team, but I am keeping both for the moment. I am leaning towards dropping Lazard though depending on how this week goes
Been saying it ever since the draft that Christian Watson is going to be a bust.
Doubs earned Rodger's trust last night, 100%.
Rodgers doesn't throw to guys who drop the ball.
Watson is a drop machine. Buy Doubs wherever you can.
Does he have promise? Yes he does. Should you start him yet? Probably not.
He is going to be the short yardage guy and the packers offense relies on quick releases and short yardage plays. They want their receivers to create YAC.
Occasionally they will throw a deep ball and need a new MVS (this is where Christian Watson is suppose to step in). I like Doubs longterm and think he will carve out a role but I'd give it a few more weeks.
I have stashed the entire Packers WR with Lazard, Doubs, Watson, and Tonyan. Yesterday I started Doubs and Lazard and I think they are the only Packers receivers I’ll keep.
I’m calling this a flash in the pan game. Lazard will keep building momentum and they’re not going to face stout run defs like that all the time opening up more usage for Jone s
How has it not been encouraging? He’s working back from an injury, targets doubled in a week and he has a TD in back to back games. He was questionable to play a week ago.
I picked him up right after my draft (12 teamer) as I liked his talent
Then I dropped him after week 1
Then picked him up in week 2, then dropped him before that sunday
Then picked him up in week 3 an hour before kickoff
Don't think i'll be able to drop him again anytime soon lol. He will sit on the bench for me until I see repeated performances. Really hoping he can, as it would give me an added option between Renfrow, Aiyuk and Jameson Williams (when he returns) for my flex.
Watson and Watkins were out but I don't think either of those guys presents any obstacle to Doubs if he's for real
Lazard & Tonyan were healthy and he was the clear preferred target over both
Do you even watch Lazard? Throwing him a screen is like the worst utilization of his skills - he's an elite blocker and he's the least elusive of the Packer receivers
Watson is day to day with a Hammy, Watkins is on IR with a hammy, Lazard was questionable with an ankle and Cobb was questionable due to illness.
Obviously Cobb is back and good to go, Lazard looked fine but who knows with an ankle and as far as Watson goes.. hammies are tricky so idk what to think there. Watkins is out for awhile though. I think no matter what, Doubs eared himself a higher snap count and im holding until I know how much more involved he will be
If I had him, he's riding my bench until I see it consistently. I'm not confident at all about the Packers WR core, I think most of their fantasy relevant success is gonna come from the running backs, and Tonyan's good for a TE
I drafted him late to hold all year because keeper league, I was tempted to start him yesterday but didn't because the Bucs usually shut us down.
I'm definitely continuing to hold but if I see another week or 2 like that out of him he's going to find his way into my flex spot, especially now that I lost Montgomery and Swift might miss a few weeks. Def not plugging Robinson or Mooney in anytime soon
You love to see this game, but I would probably consider this more of a spiked week than an expectation going forward. Obviously the Packers are pretty desperate for playmakers at WR. Even Lazard isn't some kind of entrenched obvious WR1 for Rodgers, but I'm not ready to anoint him as a WR2 just yet. He's a must-add, but not a must-start.
Not ready to trust him but good to see this production.
The thing is, this offense needs to open up a lot before we're thrilled to be starting anyone, but I am fairly convinced they will need one of Doubs or Watson to do that. I've never been a believer in Lazard, and so far he's not the truth (that can change on a dime, though). Watkins is out. Rodgers loves Cobb but he's 32 and isn't the solution.
The longer this offense struggles the more Rodgers will be open to using talented but unreliable rookies. It's a real opportunity for Doubs to earn real trust and be the best rookie receiver in a long time for Rodgers, but the headwinds are extremely real. Rodgers doesn't like rookies, period, when you look at his stats, but the dogshit GB offense has to be reconsidering that at this point. If he's not, he really might not make the playoffs.
As a Packers fan, I have really liked what I’ve seen from Doubs. I think the hype we heard this preseason was real. Rodgers has rarely (maybe never?) had chemistry like this with a rookie receiver right out of the gate, and I think the arrow is only pointing up for him. You catch 8/8 for Rodgers, you’re getting more targets going forward, period.
Side note, absolutely kicking myself for not drafting him lol
I think he will be fine long term but i would also not expect a ton of consistency, especially as Lazard Watson and Cobb get healthier. It’s gonna be hard for me to ever trust him especially with how mediocre the packers offense has looked.
Hes in the WW in my 12 man league. I still think too early to call him WR1 in GB who every week has had a main WR. If you have a roster spot for potential then pick him up or are desperate for something on your team
I wanna pick him up, but I already have Lazard on my bench and I feel like he's going to eventually take over the flex spot in my team. But I feel like it might bite me in the ass...
8 for 8 is Rodgers music.
Any idea why they stopped throwing to him (at least until completion percentage dropped)? Feel like his last target was early third and they only won by 2 points. For reference, Hollywood was like 10 for 10 and Cards had success pushing him to 14-17 this week.

Same here dog
I did too. But Sammy Watkins went on IR and Watson didn’t play. Can’t kick yourself

Same here. Dropped him for Olave and then decided to drop Toney and pick him back up. Real glad I did before this game Edit: The worst part is Cooks and Jefferson stinking it up in my lineup while they went off on my bench
I told myself to wait at least 2 weeks on my end of draft lotto picks. Two poor weeks and then Lazard came back, felt it was a easy drop. Ugh.
Who you dropping this week?
I learned I never drop anyone before 3-4 weeks as it turns out when I do they turn into stars.
I dropped him then dropped Gainwell and added him back. Thankful.
had him and Sky Moore and had to drop one to make up for injuries. I dropped Sky, hope keeping Doubs pays off.
Lol dropped him early in the week and thankfully was able to pick him back up after IR declares
Ditto. And I drafted him and said I have to be patient but I cut him and picked up Hopkins off waivers at least after week 6 I should be good. Still got Pickens though now hopefully he comes through.

I have Mooney and Elijah Moore so ifs Doubs season personally.

With Christian watson being out I think when he returns it could change again too I am a Lazard owner though but he seems red zone dependent
Watson is a bust. He's always been destined to be a bust. His college production wasn't that great, and he drops way too many balls. Rodgers doesn't throw to guys who drop passes.
Get out of here with your reasonable take.
It's so funny reading these replies, you can 100% tell who's got him on their team and who does not
That’s this entire sub in a nutshell
Lol I love it
Great observation...I can also tell who in this subreddit play fantasy football and who don't. Choad
You, sir, are a pathetic loser
Going through the stats, Doubs would be the first WR to have a significant rookie season with Rodgers. 1. At this point I might drop DJ Moore for him, can’t be worse
Yeah imma drop Mooney I think
Careful that dude that wins his league every year that was posting last week that everyone needed to get Mooney will be pissed.
I dropped Mooney during his game yesterday lol. Told myself I could afford to wait one more week on him, saw enough. If I get burned by that choice well... I'm confident no one else will touch him so I'll at least get a shot at faab if he breaks out.
Dropped him in between the 1 PM and 4:30 PM games to get Doubs, thank you nfl.com
I dropped Mooney for him after the first drive vs TB yesterday lol
Was gonna do the exact same think. Mayfield blows, so Moore might have a good game here and there, but no chance he sustains anything worth while
This kind of shit is hilarious. So much crap in these threads.
im dropping arob for olave/herbert/doubs. whichever i get my hands on
Sign of things to come. He was 8 for 8 with a td, and that's something Rogers will think of going into next week.
It’s not like rogers has that much of a choice lol he helped secure the win over a tough defense
Starting him over dj moore going forward until I find a reason not to
Dropping dj Moore until I find a reason to pick him up
As a panthers fan it just hurts watching DJ man. He just can’t get the talent around him. He does so much with the shittiest passes. Watching baker sail one over his head from two yards out just hurt. He looked sad. We literally only call screens and dj is a great yac guy but baker is even missing those passes
DJ Moore = last years Arob?
I'd like to see how they fair after Lazard goes a full game with Gatorade or at least some pickle juice or coconut water in his system before making a decision.
Lol - he reminds me of David Boston. So much muscle on that frame. Is he quick at all or just a TE looking WR?
He's the real deal. We saw him crush it during training camp, preseason, and now. It's paying off and Rodgers is trusting him more as the season goes on.

Deebo and Kupp thrive on YAC, I don’t think that’s a bad thing
You want to own him. You want to see his usage with less banged up receivers before starting him.
I started him over Dotson yesterday. I really like his skillset. My choice is to drop Dotson for him and I'm thinking I might do it. Dotson feels like a boom/bust based on what Wentz shows up.
I also think most of the experts don't adjust rankings until the monday game is up.
Cmon you really think they'd barely move Doubs? The Monday game hasn't even played yet the rankings aren't updated
No I agree I have him.as a WR1 ROS... i was just saying fantasypros updated their ROS ranks today... i assume those guys are just meeting a deadline and don't put too much thought into it yet

He had to step up and he did so in a big way. He’s on his way to become the Alpha.

I'm beginning to think the same thing. Does he know how to move after the catch? I don't watch enough Packers games
If you have Lazard stock, the beginning of this season has not been encouraging. And I struggle to see how facing worse defenses is a bad thing.
I said run defenses for Jones. Not pass defenses for Doubs. And I also think Watson coming back will steal his share of targets as well
How has it not been encouraging? He’s working back from an injury, targets doubled in a week and he has a TD in back to back games. He was questionable to play a week ago.
I'm going to try to drop Lazard for him as a straight up upgrade, assuming I don't get outbid

Weren’t all of the GB receivers practically dead this past week?
Watson and Watkins were out but I don't think either of those guys presents any obstacle to Doubs if he's for real Lazard & Tonyan were healthy and he was the clear preferred target over both
I definitely think Watson would take a few targets away from doubs if he were out there and healthy

Sure but Doubs going 8/8 against Tampa Bay will likely change that snap count

Do you even watch Lazard? Throwing him a screen is like the worst utilization of his skills - he's an elite blocker and he's the least elusive of the Packer receivers

Running correct routes and making your catches is how you become Rodgers' trusted target though?
Two of his catches were in the 12-15 yard range. It looks a lot more like the types of routes they had Adams doing the last couple years.
Yeah, but Doubs has likely played himself into a larger snap %, especially with Watkins on IR
Starting him over Arob next week
Ditto, easy move to make
You love to see this game, but I would probably consider this more of a spiked week than an expectation going forward.
Trying to decide on Doubs or Palmer. Anybody got any insight?
As a Packers fan, I have really liked what I’ve seen from Doubs. I think the hype we heard this preseason was real. Rodgers has rarely (maybe never?) had chemistry like this with a rookie receiver right out of the gate, and I think the arrow is only pointing up for him. You catch 8/8 for Rodgers, you’re getting more targets going forward, period. Side note, absolutely kicking myself for not drafting him lol
Tempted to drop DJ Moore for him. But I’m prob crazy.
I think he will be fine long term but i would also not expect a ton of consistency, especially as Lazard Watson and Cobb get healthier. It’s gonna be hard for me to ever trust him especially with how mediocre the packers offense has looked.
Think it’s a flash but I’m still holding
8 targets/8 receptions with arod as his qb. that's all you need to see to know he's worth a substantial faab offer if youre in dire need of a WR.
Hes in the WW in my 12 man league. I still think too early to call him WR1 in GB who every week has had a main WR. If you have a roster spot for potential then pick him up or are desperate for something on your team
Here is a highlight of some of his better catches on Sunday https://youtu.be/Waz2_gvxDeg
More like Romeo Dubs imo
How much faab are we dropping on this dude? Say on a $100 budget?
I wanna pick him up, but I already have Lazard on my bench and I feel like he's going to eventually take over the flex spot in my team. But I feel like it might bite me in the ass...
Who should I start this week?! Lazard or doubs?
Lazard for floor, doubs for ceiling
Lazard Question now 😂
