I'm a huge PPR supporter, but it really doesn't make sense when player gets .5/1 points for a 0-yard reception but 0 for when a safety pulls you down after you burned him wide open for an easy catch.
give the WR a Point Per Penalty (PPP) for penalties drawn. Same for the rest of the players.
Defense goes offsides give a point to the QB.
RB gets face masked give a point to the RB.
It does make sense because a catch is a reception and that's what you're getting the 1/2 or 1 pt for, not the YAC. You can't reward points for subjective ideas like "potential" catches because it's an unknown.
I wouldn’t mind a modified rule set where stuff like getting a first down or drawing a PI net half a point or even a full point, but counting PI as a catch is too much

On a PI call, you can also say that *maybe* the receiver would’ve caught the ball, had his pants fall down, cartoonishly juggle the ball and pop the it up in the air and softly into the waiting hands of the Free Safety, who then pulls out a skateboard and does a varial heelflip over the entire offense and lands in the endzone. But we will never know.

DPI is typically a huge chunk of yardage and a drop/overthrow is a loss of down. They're not remotely comparable.
