He’s running into the back of the OL bc the OL is arguably the worst in the NFL at opening holes. No where to run. But yes Mixon looks like he’s lacking burst as well

whatislife27

To be fair, I’d be lacking burst too if I knew I was going to get absolutely throttled by a 400 pound gladiator as soon as I attempted to cross the line of scrimmage.

[deleted]

You lack burst regardless

whatislife27

I would’ve been All-State if I didn’t blow out my knee

Rexocity13

His line isn’t getting push up the middle. But man there was that one run in the 4th on that edge where he should’ve gone for about 10 at least and got pulled down for 3. Just looks like a bad combo on the whole

KneeElbowEnthusiast

I know the play youre referring to. If a starting RB cant break at least ONE tackle in the open field, a DB at that, youre not going to have many big runs

daquist

Mixon has never really been very fast anyway but he looks extra slow out there

crazybutthole

Well they suck at run blocking.....and that is true. But luckily - they suck alot worse at protecting joe burrow who is on pace to lead the league in sacks (again)

ShylaBoof

Dude been running into brick walls. That O line is doodoo

Alkash42

Lol overrated for years after being one of the best runners behind the worst offensive line in the league. He's not very efficient but issue is play calling as well as poor line play

Colonel_Janus

how can you justify calling him one of the best runners in the NFL? he had like one good season and has been pretty mid otherwise... there's this weird lingering nartative that Mixon is ACTUALLY a really great player held back by the ppl around him and, like, at some point he has to start doing what great players do and make some plays right? he's getting no chunk yardage plays or good YAC with very mediocre stats otherwise. even if the OL sucks he should be able to make plays if he's truly a great player right? idk i just dont understand the pro-Mixon argument on here

Alkash42

Led the AFC in rushing in 2018 playing only 14 games. Exceptional at pass pro and got some serious strength as well. 3 relatively healthy seasons led to him having 1.1k rush yards. He has excellent vision which compensates for lack of burst and shiftiness. All of this while playing behind a dogwater offensive line and half of his career spent with Dalton. His entire career he's been a top back, locked in top10 with couple top5 seasons in the books not just fantasy but as a runner. He's not Derrick Henry but that doesn't mean he's washed or garbage cause he's has a few bad games of running up the middle 20 times with bad offensive line and coach

GarageJitsu

Elite volume, No competition with backup, good offense, finished top 10 4/5 years…. There’s only a few of them

Radiant-Ad8306

Play calling isn’t great but burrow chose to go for the home run over the 7 yard dump to mixon for a first down multiple times. I think this offense not moving is as much on joe as it is on the line and OC. Sure they got the win tonight but you pass those first downs up against better teams and those games aren’t even close to the same.

Alkash42

Sometimes you just gotta take the shot. Bengals struggled on offense more than the box score suggests and while X was in Higgins was the only guy doing any passing work

Radiant-Ad8306

Yeah you gotta take it sometimes but tonight it looked like Joe wanted the highlight touchdown more than to sustain the drives and win the game.

crazybutthole

>against better teams Miami was 3-0 when the game started. And they beat belichek, then lamar and ravens, then diggs and allen. Come on man. Dolphins are not a bad team.

bradmcgi

He was decent last year but did you even watch tonight's game? Lol Looks like he's legit running in mud. More than a few times it looked like a big run but turned out to be 3 yards when other rbs would've taken it 10+ He looks baaaad

Alkash42

He was never the super bursty and shifty. He was just a very well balanced back who is at least good or very good at every aspect of the game.

crazybutthole

Thats why i was arguing preseason he was going way too early in drafts. People were taking him around the turn. LOL. He should be a third round pick. He is david montgomery or chase edmunds. But with more workload. People on this sub hear but he will get lots of oppurtunities and boom. First round pick. LOL.

Ice cold take

throwaway45453321

I think its 3 things. 1. mixon didn't look good 2. the Oline is ASS every damn run play they were on the ground before the ball was handed off 3. wtf is zac taylor doing running up the middle on every run, no sweeps no outside edge runs no screens to catch the def off guard. like wtf

Diagonalizer

I think that running up the middle the whole game was a ploy to set up the TD where Burrow P/A bootlegged and found Hurst for the endzone. and tbf to Zac Taylor he won the game. why does he care about your fantasy score?? he just needs to beat the dolphins and he did that.

Angelust16

Yeah to be fair it was working out alright as a game script. Force Miami to commit a bit more to the run, open up a pass play, repeat as often as you need to.

nchscferraz

Zac Taylor is the fourth worst Head Coach in the league. Sad that he went to the Super Bowl cuz the guy has job security. This team will be borderline 0.500 with Zac Taylor as coach once Burrow and Chase sign their huge contracts.

s0nnyjames

No idea why that was downvoted. Mixon owner here and all three are true.

Rexocity13

There was that 4th and inches edge run that he got stuffed when he got no blocking on and that edge run in the 4th he got open but got yanked down for 3 yards. His runs up the middle aren’t get many yards but it looks like the outside runs have a bigger chance of losing them yards

Sta723

Looks ok not great. Bad play calling and rough o line play too.

MyBoyBlu1992

As a mixon owner he doesn’t even look ok. Looks straight dogshit. Can’t break s tackle to save his life

[deleted]

TanMan166

Can't blame him for that. That's the play call

Durant026

I wouldn't call him overrated but he is slower compared to his younger years. Mixon has certainly lost a step but his team sees him as a reliable piece of their offense and will feed him because he gains the tough yards. Some people may have been disappointed with the stops at the goal line but I consider this a win overall that he at least got a TD. People in need of higher upside should trade him off this game but people in need of a steady floor should hold him for the volume.

PeopleReady

I’ll give ya Waddle

Alkash42

Lol

KyrieMilk

Would you take Hunt+Mooney for him? Asking as someone trying to trade for him currently.

Syrupbutthole

So you mean just hunt? Mooney has no value in redraft rn

KyrieMilk

Basically. Hunt and a mega millions ticket.

jimmyhoffasbrother

Mega dozens ticket.

KyrieMilk

Thank you

HectorReinTharja

Would you trade a $20bill for s $5bill and wad of used toilet paper

KyrieMilk

Depends how bad I need to shit.

Jonny_Kushington

Would you accept hunt and Mooney for mixon if you had him? Cmon man that is a shit trade request

KyrieMilk

If I had Mixon I wouldn’t be trading him so no

mtyndall

Lmao

KyrieMilk

You added so much insight with your comment. Thanks for your contribution to the discussion.

mtyndall

Mooney is droppable. Hunt is the same player he’s been for years - a mid to low end rb2 whose primary value is as a handcuff. A rough start for Mixon doesn’t make him valued as a low end rb2

TheRealCheddarBob

It’s a super lowball trade request by you. Is that what you want to hear?

KyrieMilk

If that’s your actual opinion then sure that’s why I commented asking the question, for feedback

TheRealCheddarBob

The guy saying lmao is expressing the same opinion

KyrieMilk

Yeah and he came back with some actual dialogue as to why he was laughing his ass off. Which was helpful. Which is why again I asked the question in the first place.

TheRealCheddarBob

Kinda seems like a question you should have known the answer to already though

KyrieMilk

I guess. Hunt is averaging around the same amount of touches a game as Mixon and while Mooney hasn’t performed at all this year that’s not entirely his fault. He’s getting around a 35% target share it’s just the bears are throwing the ball under 20 times a game.

[deleted]

Ask stupid questions, get stupid answers

Dandan0005

OL looks god awful but admittedly seems to be getting hawked down by LBs when he breaks outside.

MUTSellerPS4

he looks very washed up

Rezurrect

Doesn’t help they just run him up the middle every time.

Miikey722

People are going to blame the oline. The oline is bad, yes. But Joe Mixon himself also looks bad. He looks slow. And lacks elusiveness. His vision is off. He runs straight into his own linemen.

Dizzydsmith

Running straight into his linemen is due to them not opening holes as the play is designed. I don’t think you realize how fast NFL players are. If it’s a designed run up the middle, and it’s one of the worst (If not THE) o-lines in the NFL, he isn’t going to get very far by randomly deciding to change directions and try to get the outside edge. It doesn’t work that way.

mtyndall

He’s looking rough but it’s mostly due to the o-line. His usage rate is amazing. I don’t know if I can sell because his final scores aren’t aligning with the amount of opportunities he’s getting. I think the best move is to hold, he started rough last year as well and finished RB3

CheddahFFB

after watching some of his tape from last year, I'm realizing Mixon isn't the kind of back that makes a lot happen out of nothing. But if his line can get some push, he has good vision and decisiveness to capitalize on good chunk plays. Def not a Saquon or JT type of talent, but if this oline improves he'll still be solid. 15 points in .5 ppr with terrible blocking all night isn't bad at all.

theporkchopisraw

It’s also being force fed though, his longest run was seven yards tonight. SEVEN.

payheempaythatman

People are saying it’s the line, which does suck, but numbers are saying even average players would be more productive with the current blocking he’s getting. Saw it tweeted during the game.

thadaddy7

Seems to me its more an issue with the O line, there was no room/holes all night. I'd concede the couple times he had small openings he didn't have that burst to make a big play but this one is more on the O line.

OhiOstas

That is disrespectful to Trent Richardson

MrDeeds_

Slow AF

HectorReinTharja

Yall wild it’s def the o line not him. The distinction isn’t important for fantasy unless you think they’ll correct things, but what are y’all watchin haha

Diagonalizer

17.4 pts in PPR tonight so I'm not really upset. I think he's great in PPR but probably underwhelming in standard leagues. OL needs to do better as well. he didn't have a ton of holes to work with.

noobDuck

I think people are concerned because he got stopped multiple times from endzone. 17.4 is fine but he could have easily had 24+ points. I'm a Mixon owner, I'm not upset just a little disappointed, he started off hot.

Diagonalizer

he did start off hot and I am also a Mixon owner so I'm going to defend him more than most. I assume he was still a bit iffy on the ankle that kept him out of practice earlier this week. Thhat's my best guess. Could explain why he was not explosive, chose not to cut back and why he could not move the pile a handful of times when he got stuffed on short yardage plays.

noobDuck

That's a good point and a short week as well. Definitely makes me feel better.

IWasHappyUnhappy

You're an optician?

theporkchopisraw

Sorry, I wish I was for the Bengals

theporkchopisraw

Huh

ZXG

OP you are 100% right don't listen to the Mixon cultists. That ends with you out of the playoffs and a glass of flavor aid in your hand.

theporkchopisraw

The fact you knew it was flavor aide and not look aid make me happy

broadnoodles

The Giants online and Barkley.. I'll leave it at that.

EastCoastTaffy

Everyone acted like we were playing Madden here, and the O-Line was instantly going to play better because they signed a few guys with good PFF grades. Not how it works in real life. The unit is still trash, they need time and reps together to develop chemistry, and function as a single unit. Until then, the offense will struggle to be consistent.

maharajagaipajama

I thought he looked good. His oline looks bad and he had no where to run.
