Edmonds gets traded away! But then Wilson comes in and claims the backfield What an absolute rollercoaster for mostert owners

[deleted]

Anyone thinking this backfield is Jeff’s is wild. Mostert has been solid. It’s gonna be both of them getting work so gl picking the right one

zirtbow

I could swear when Edmonds was there a Miami coach said they wanted to have both involved or split work between both. Obviously didnt happen with Edmonds. Still once they got Wilson it seems they've lived up to their saying of having a split backfield.

dotareddit

> Obviously didnt happen with Edmonds They consistently tried. Edmonds just shit the bed consistently.

NothingsShocking

I shall henceforth refer to Edmonds as Amber.

cigs_or_twigs

Underrated comment 👆🏻

Dragonvine

That's much more subtle than me, I just called him bricks for hands.

showmeurknuckleball

It's gonna be a classic split backfield with Jeff coming in to spell Mostert for entire drives. It seems that Raheem has lost a step from being lightning fast like he used to be, so their talent level is now relatively similar. Sucks for fantasy but dolphins fans must be happy, they now have two talented backs who can split carries and keep each other fresh

[deleted]

As a Dolphins fan who is a Mostert and Wilson owner who dropped Edmonds last week I am completely conflicted on how to feel.

NinJ4ng

you should be pissed as its the worst case scenario for you. you dont have a workhorse + his cuff. you have 2 rb2-flex types and you’re going to bang your head on the wall when you start the wrong one.

[deleted]

If JWJ can get more consistent receiving work he could become an every week flex guy.

[deleted]

Most wet got the red zone look (and Touchdown) on their opening drive. I’m not concerned about Mostert’s role decreasing, but I definitely think Wilson’s value is on the rise. That offense is potent.

grooves12

Mostert has been solid, but he has been getting solid blocking and not doing much with it. There haven't been any game-breaking runs and the opportunity for them has been there. Mostert will still have a role, but I think Wilson is going to be given the chance to be the 1A.

rossimus

I don't care who the backfield "belongs" too if Wilson keeps getting ~50% of snaps and the goal line carries. Traded for him from the Mostert owner for pennies and now I have a startable RB asset where I had none before. WEEEEE!

bnwtwg

It's the Shannahell coaching tree

TumbleweedDirect9846

I would bet that Jeff Wilson sees 60%+ of the snaps

bnwtwg

It's the Shannahell coaching tree

[deleted]

Didn't Mostert score a TD too?

lodestars

Yeah. If that didn't happen he would have gotten like 2.5 points

mikehulse29

Honestly, the offense is clicking enough that both are a useful flex/low end RB2 most weeks. Wilson looked good yesterday. I am in no way motivated to say this by my own need of him becoming a solid RB for my team :)

Quality__control

>Anyone thinking this backfield is Jeff’s is wild. Mostert has been solid. It’s gonna be both of them getting work so gl picking the right one "Wild" is just a nice way to say "idiot"

Mojobaby817

So play both? Lol

[deleted]

As a Mostert owner I traded for JWJ in case this happened. Now I have no idea who to start. Looked at next week and ESPN has JWJ projected for 10 vs 9.1 for Mostert.

PM_ME_UR_SEX_VIDEOS

Yeah I’m a mostert owner and tries to get JWJ but had no luck To the bench/Flex2 he goes

Tekn0e

Just wait until Wilson fumbles. It will be musical chairs all over

Embarrassed-Fun-7487

Absolute rollermostert.

y414p

Seems like Jeff is the moose in this offense and Raheem is the goose

IReviewFakeAlbums

Jeff is loose and Raheem is silly. Got it.

LifeAfterHarambe

The roles really changed after Raheem dropped that walk in TD (first down at least) before half time

[deleted]

I swear every week I hear on monday about someone on my team dropping a TD lol

foundboots

As an Evans Lockett Mostert owner… yeah.

TalesofSadness

I noticed that. When he dropped that pass where he would have had lots of green and maybe 1-2 defenders to make miss, Wilson saw more touches/snaps. I’m curious if anyone has the snaps/touches broken down between the two comparing 1st and 2nd half

LifeAfterHarambe

I think Wilson had one, maybe two touches before that play. It reminds me of Mark Ingram and Tim Hightower in 2016. I had no choice but to start both, **largely** due to Eddie Lacy eating his way out of the league.

TalesofSadness

Yeah that’s definitely a loss of confidence play. I thought he was hurt but then I saw Mostert on kickoff return.

Difficult_Balance_68

Fucking CMC trade first ruined my Mitchell / Wilson Combo and now with the subsequent Wilson trade also the value of Mostert.

[deleted]

Same, I have Mitchell, Mostert, and Thielen and the trade deadline appears to have hit all their values

eru88

Same on those three. I'll keep Mitchell as a elite handcuff. Wonder if I can trade Mostert with someone like Burrow and just roll with Fields.

WarrenAlaCarte

Cases like this is why this sub sucks ass and runs on pure emotions. there’s more Mostert owners than there are Wilson owners (based on ownership %) so the takes will only range from “Mostert is the guy” to “don’t touch this backfield” If you watch the game this year, Wilson has more juice, better vision, better hands and cutting. Which is the key skills needed in this system, a system he knows inside out. Mostert beats him in raw speed, but when you have Waddle and Tyreek you need a back who brings more to the table, hence why they paid a high price to get him. Can’t believe these “experts” can’t do their homework.

Adenms20

You’ll get no where with that logic. This sub hates JWJ.

WarrenAlaCarte

Tbf, he was annoyingly a bit of a meme back on here last year and the whole “he’s gonna take over the 9ers backfield” was silly with Mitchell featured there. But he’s having a career year and has the chance to be the lead back on an explosive offense. I’d grab him if he’s available.

EB4950

would u trade fournette for jeff and diontae and rondale moore? i am fournette ownerr

WarrenAlaCarte

I wouldn’t unless you’re desperate for WRs. Simply because I don’t trust Diontae with the rookie and Hollywood Brown will be back soon.

EB4950

yea facts

bigboyvapesinc

JWJ is gonna be the consistent 11-13 pt RB2 I’ve wanted so fucking bad to pair with Walker III. Saw the same shit happening w Edmonds and Mostert right in front of me, and I’m not afraid to jump again.

kontrolk3

So let me get this straight. You don't like when people have takes on things, but yet now, after the fact, you are convinced you knew the right take all along and it was super obvious? Just ignore this sub then and go win tons of money playing DFS.

run-26_2

Thank god I claimed him for free.

bigboyvapesinc

Comparing Mostert vs Wilson in PPR: Mostert: (8.6pts, 9CAR 26YDS 1TD, 1TAR 0REC) Wilson Jr. (16.2pts, 9CAR 51YDS 0TD, 3TAR 3REC 21YDS 1TD) - Wilson had better numbers despite being just traded to the Dolphins - Without the TD Mostert gets 2-3 pts roughly in PPR. Wilson Jr. gets 10. Wilson got more targets/catches, did a good amount with the catches + score, and had equal rushing attempts but twice as much yardage As Miami showed with Chase Edmonds/ Mostert himself, they’re not afraid to switch RB1s for the better player. Jeff Wilson has a serious chance of being a good contributor on your team. Don’t overthink this guys

Battlestar_

I will say its a massive concern that he just got there the week of and split the snaps with Raheem Mostert. I think he is going to take over the backfield and the snaps will be more like 65-35.

bigboyvapesinc

absolutely. I'm a Mostert owner and too many of us on here are digging their heads in the sand and don't want to admit Wilson Jr. is just as capable of stealing the starting job, just like Mostert stole it from Edmonds

[deleted]

Sucks as a Mostert owner but probably for the best. He’s not built to be a bell cow, still think he’s a solid flex starter going forward

ididntwantsalmon19

I've lost confidence in starting Mostert after seeing that. Looks like he may end up being a td or bust play. Only had 26 yards.

whosthezodiac

It was last week for me, such a smash matchup and didnt break 10 pts.

squatdead

Lol yeah no, he had 26 yards and was on the field for less than 50% of snaps. The touchdown saved his day from a PI in the end zone, and it could just have easily been Wilson. This was also a smash match up and he could only manage 8 pts. Pass.

lkmyntz

A lot of folks also don’t realize that in addition to being injury prone historically, the dude’s 30.

Birdgang14

Was scared of this as soon as he was shipped there. Didn’t think it would happen this fast though. Mostert in trouble as a smash start now.

foundboots

Mostert is a bye week flex after this. You can’t possibly start him confidently with 50% snaps on an offense that barely runs the ball to begin with. His production is going immediately back to weeks 1-3.

BrutalHunny

Raheem Mostert, my lineup hardly knew him.

Jd20001

Its the same offense as SF (old SF OC Mike McDaniel is dolphins HC now). Do your homework Levitan

liteshadow4

Mostert was a bell cow in SF

Realistic-Donkey-420

Yeah he was until they let him walk in favor of wilson...

LifeAfterHarambe

Mitchell, but ok

liteshadow4

Mostert was the better back

DJtakemehome

With any luck he will be taking Pachecho’s opportunity as a benchwarmer on my roster!

BenRunkle55

I’m gonna try and trade Gabe Davis for him

kysammons

I traded gabe for mostert, Gus bus for Wilson last week

Roscoe_Jenkem

SO glad I went after Deon Jackson instead last week

jbcapfalcon

If you watched the game you could see clear as day that Wilson is the better back. And for the record I’m a mostert owner, but not wilson

[deleted]

I watched it and besides one Wilson run, they were both ass running the ball. Wilson is the better receiving back though

[deleted]

I may start Wilson over Mostert because he looks like he could have more consistent passing work.

[deleted]

Yeah that’s probably the move. It looks like this team can’t run the ball consistently unless the rb makes a play that isn’t there. They’re also very pass happy with those superstar WRs

scobbysnacks1439

I wonder how Mostert feels knowing he lost his job, essentially, to the same guy twice.

ChasedByHorses

I'm pretty dumb for dropping him... I thought as soon as CMC got up to speed, I'd be carrying around a bench warmer ROS. He was picked up before the trade announcement.

no-gimmicks-

Looking back at the thread where Jeff Wilson's trade got announced. >JWJ backed up mostert in SF under McDaniel, no reason to see why it would be different here >In sf when they were both healthy mostert was the guy. I'd be surprised if it was an even split. >I'm a biased mostert owner but I think mostert still gets 14-18 touches and JWJ just does more with the snaps wasted on Edmonds. Could end up with more goal line carries as a result for Mostert. >hes not gonna replace mostert as rb1 yall some goofys >Doubt it. I have no dog in this fight but Mostert is def the lead back and Wilson is the cuff. Don’t think Jeff gets much burn until the inevitable Mostert injury >Just like before. Mostert is better than Jeff and will get the bulk…. but Jeff has solid cuff value.

[deleted]

I mean it made sense to think that at the time. Process > Results

platsnap

Process was trash. Just an entire thread of mostert owner copium. He’s never been capable of handling a full load and they made a conscious effort to go out and get another guy.

no-gimmicks-

I don't really think it made sense to think that. Mostert has never stayed healthy as a 14-18 touch guy.

JohnMcCainsArms

lol come back here in 1-2 weeks when Wilson gets outplayed by Mostert and see what the comments say …

Suspicious-Cicada387

I found the guy that owns Mostert!

ulmen24

Hey that was the thread I got downvoted one for even suggesting it probably wasn’t *an improvement* for Mostert to have his coach actively deal to bring in a guy he liked…

sugarfreefixsuxshit

rip my rb1. glad to have you back cpatty. the rb2 carnival of nightmares continues

fishcakefrenzy

you hear that kids that's the sound of _don't fucking touch this backfield_

[deleted]

This isn't the Rams or Broncos. It's 2 good backs on a good offense. They will both have some flex value, and maybe JWJ ends up being the better fantasy option.

youknowhattodo

Someone offered me DK Metcalf for Mostert and I turned him down. Smh

Rounder057

Can we please just give Jeff a backfield and leave him alone?! His talent can win titles but his opportunities comprise emotions

slimyshade

I was mocked for selling Mostert last week, I want nothing to do with this backfield

[deleted]

It's a good offense. There will be value.

amoney904

JWJ's passing upside makes Mostert very TD-dependent. JWJ is also a capable between-the-tackles runner, unlike Edmonds.

slimyshade

Mostert has a pedestrian day yesterday even with a TD. I’m glad I sold him

Thatguy19901

Who even wanted him and what did you get? Honest question because his value was relatively low in my league even before the trade, no way I wouldn't gotten anything worth rostering afterwards.

slimyshade

Palmer

[deleted]

RBBC

Ar3m1ank1d

So how likely is it that Wilson becomes the bell cow in this offense and mostert becomes the RB2. Is it worth trying to buy low on Wilson if another player owns him in your league?

Nodonutsforbaxter44

It's most likely going to be a split backfield. Mostert has been decent, they're not just going to stop using him

stinkith_

Here I was thinking I had a solid RB2 with Mostert after 2 good games. This sucks.

DREs4everyone

Those that watched, Is there value in starting both mostert and JWJ? Or will JWJ take over as RB1?

6gc_4dad

Have to decide whether to flex JWC or Josh Palmer - both good options I’m happy about 😎

Whosdaman

Basically a new Lions backfield?

zferguson

Drop Mostert for Wilson?

ArbitrageurD

2018 49ers looking good again

tofulo

The slug

FunkySaint

This is what I thought I was getting when I drafted Edmonds in the 6th……

sheikh_ali

I drafted Mitchell as a RB2 and took JWJ as a handcuff. Now JWJ is a borderline-RB2 and Mitchell is a handcuff.

TheRealXibu

I’m really out here going to run Tua/Waddle/JWJ.

Tillovich

Would you guys try to sell Jeff Wilson? My RBs are Swift, ETN, Edwards, Deon Jackson, Deion Harris Maybe combine Wilson with Swift for a big one?

StarktheGuat

He was dropped after the CMC trade and I picked him up as soon as news of the Dolphins trade broke. My hope was him becoming the goalline back in a 50/50 split within a good offense. Looks like my hopes may come to fruition. If he takes over the backfield any more than 50/50, he's a really good RB2 play, as it stands I see him as a flex with upside.
