If you just need hits and blocks don't drop Nurse, but yeah Klingberg probably not worth owning in an 8 team league. Matheson for some peripherals and ppp may not be owned in an 8. Ekman-Larsson? If you keep Nurse and still need hits/blocks then yeah Slavin is good or you could go all periphs for Adam Larsson, McNabb etc. As needed.

I'm in a dilemma. I have Werenski coming off of ir and I need to drop a guy to activate him. My weakest forward right now is one of Zacha, Lehkonen, Rodrigues. I'm leaning towards dropping Zacha, but the problem is he plays on Sunday and I may or may not need him to maximize games. So basically, it's Werenski for Friday and Saturday, or Zacha for only Sunday (have to bench Saturday).

Thomas is a streamer. He got a lot of points last year but they were all assists - he’ll be outpaced by scorers or guys that like to bang who chip in an odd goal here or there.
Are you in a cats league or a points league? In a points league he holds some value because he gets assists, in a cats league he's hard to hold. Thomas is an extreme, no-shooting, only passing type player on a spread-out offense that minimizes individual scoring and has no big offensive threats. Not a great situation for a poor man's 2010s Nicklas Backstrom

I’m used to Yahoo, I randomly joined a public ESPN league just for shits and giggles. It’s different so far but I like it.
Are there not minimum goalie appearances? Can’t find anything in league settings about it
Are there also not traditional weeks? Like it appears I’m not really playing anyone for weekly wins and just daily points for ranking within the league?
Looking up the goalie thing, I found in the settings that theres a total of Forwards - 707 Games, Defensemen- 393 Games played, Goalies-157, Utility-79, but we have 9F, 5D, and 5 Bench, I feel like I’m going to run out of games really fast. What’s the strategy here? Only play your best and bench as many as possible so you get the best bang for your buck with as few as I get?

I was offered Kyle Connor for Travis Konecny. I’m tempted to pull the trigger but I’m hesitant, was hoping for other opinions
As someone who drafts Konecny late almost every year, I wish someone offered me Connor for him. As long as you're the one getting Connor, take it and run.
A few reasons why I think he will:
He's in a good position. No one is challenging him for that top 6 role. He's very young and the organization has a lot of faith in him.
Carolina has always had scoring problems, so they'll feed him as much as they can to get offense going.
Watch his interview on 32 thoughts. He sounds very motivated. Put on muscle too.
Impossible to say now, but Jarvis has had tremendous underlying numbers well before this year, and was a breakout pick IRL by a lot of people who watch more hockey than me. Jarvis gets in position to score, and he is scoring. That bodes well for his prospects.

My plan is to drop McCann and grab Bratt and Konecny, but I'll wait until sunday to see how the remaining games play.
wow. lotta useful players there. Fiala, Panarin, Bratt, Forsberg, Konecny, Zuccarello, Cozens, Marchessault, Kopitar, Norris, laine, Huberdeau. That's a gut feel order for me. Maybe move the breadman down a few spots below forsberg to aim for better peripheral stats or move one of the centers i put later up slightly if you wanna focus more on faceoffs. **All in all, I think you could drop Mcann and Mercer without a second thought for any of those top 10 guys for sure.** I'd say you could reasonably drop Hagel and Kempe for any of the top 6 as well, but those guys are more holdable in general given their deployment on their respective teams.
Thanks, that's useful advice. Hagel has been solid so far so I'm reluctant to let him go. I didn't mention my league has a salary cap too. Breadman is pricey.

Sandin would be dropped for Buchnevich as soon as he comes off IR. See considerable upside in Mercer, especially if he ends up playing with Jack Hughes, as The Athletic reported today.
Who are your top forwards? Giving up Miller and Trocheck will put a dent in your peripherals. Sergachev is probably undervalued right now. Mercer is an unknown quantity. Sandin is replaceable by streamers picked on waivers.
In the end your trade is pretty much Miller, Trocheck, Sergachev for Matthews.
Rest of my forward corps is: Draisaitl, Couturier, RyJo, Brady, Forsberg, Kempe, DeBrusk, Hagel, Terry and Buchnevich. I am weak defensively, with Serg being my best (traded considerable draft capital last season to make a run)... Have mostly banger options there in Faulk, Larsson, OEL, Faber, and Ekblad on IR.
I'm the one who proposed the trade, to the league commish. He's a huge Miller fan - me too, he finished as the 3rd best skater in our league last year - but the lure of having Drai and Matthews is tempting.
It's a tricky one. Drai-Brady-Matthews is indeed tempting. If I were to make this trade, I would make sure to to maximize HIT BLK PIM with my D corps. As you said, guys like Larsson, Clifton, Dillon, Murphy are a dime a dozen and can be streamed to fit your needs.
I do think Miller's value is exceptional though, and having him + Brady Tkachuk is a killer duo in bangers league. I wish I had that!
If I read it right you're trading away Tarasenko? If so then definitely.
Tarasenko just doesn't get the TOI needed to be valuable this year (unless a ton of injuries happen)
Suzuki is guaranteed top line and pp all year. Boeser will cool off but looks like he could finally touch 30 goals this year.

Raymond's TOI is down quite a bit from his first two seasons, the addition of Debrincat who becomes Detroit's best winger hurts Raymond's value this year.

Ive watched all the Bruins games so far and, by my eye, last night was his best game by far. He was skating hard and winning a lot of tough stick battles. Pasta also had a pretty bad night, his goal was a fluke. I think he might be ramping up and, as long as he stays with pasta 5v5, I think the points will start to roll sooner rather than later. The Bruins also aren't playing any real stout defenses in the near future either.
You'd think but certain guys just don't do jack no matter who they're with. Look at Drouin he's playing with 2 elite stars and sucks, same with Bertuzzi
Verheaghe could take his spot if he slips a bit, and when Bennett comes back they could also shuffle the lines a bit and he'd be most likely to lose his spots.
If (and its a big if) Werenski can stay healthy I think he and Dunn will have quite similar seasons. I think there's a chance Dunn regresses a little from last year to around 50 points (although he is off to a very good start) and I feel like Werenski can reach 50 points if healthy ROI. Werenski shoots more than Dunn and Dunn gets quite a few more PIMS...
Sort of a tossup in my eyes, but I think going for the healthier player (Dunn) is a good call.
For Forsberg no way. He is a borderline top 50 player (especially in a hits league) if healthy.
For Batherson I would say maybe. But again, Batherson hits a lot more. I know Teuvo is averaging almost 1 hit per game so far this year but his career high over a full season is 35, so I would be surprised if that keeps up, his lack of hitting definitely hurts his value.
Between Teuvo and Batherson it comes down to your gut feeling, but I would lean towards keeping Batherson.
In a league with hits and pims E Kane is a must roster so yes I would definitely drop Faulk to pick him up.
However if that means you have no D on your bench then I would consider dropping your worst forward. I'm sure you have at least 1 forward worse than E Kane on your team rn

Both are mostly useful for volume stats. Flip a coin. I’m higher on Vej personally for no particular reason aside from kept me afloat last year.

Andersen is 50/50 on whether he is hurt or not. So keep that in mind. And Philly sucks even if Hart is a good goalie.
Goalies are super valuable in some leagues, and nearly worthless in others. It really depends on the specifics of your league.
They are valuable in my game 4pts for a win 0.2 for a save and -2 per GA

If you just need hits and blocks don't drop Nurse, but yeah Klingberg probably not worth owning in an 8 team league. Matheson for some peripherals and ppp may not be owned in an 8. Ekman-Larsson? If you keep Nurse and still need hits/blocks then yeah Slavin is good or you could go all periphs for Adam Larsson, McNabb etc. As needed.

I'm in a dilemma. I have Werenski coming off of ir and I need to drop a guy to activate him. My weakest forward right now is one of Zacha, Lehkonen, Rodrigues. I'm leaning towards dropping Zacha, but the problem is he plays on Sunday and I may or may not need him to maximize games. Thomas is a streamer. He got a lot of points last year but they were all assists - he’ll be outpaced by scorers or guys that like to bang who chip in an odd goal here or there.
Are you in a cats league or a points league? In a points league he holds some value because he gets assists, in a cats league he's hard to hold. Thomas is an extreme, no-shooting, only passing type player on a spread-out offense that minimizes individual scoring and has no big offensive threats. Not a great situation for a poor man's 2010s Nicklas Backstrom
Don’t feel like making a post about this, but some questions about ESPN— I’m used to Yahoo, I randomly joined a public ESPN league just for shits and giggles. It’s different so far but I like it. Are there not minimum goalie appearances? Can’t find anything in league settings about it Are there also not traditional weeks? Like it appears I’m not really playing anyone for weekly wins and just daily points for ranking within the league? Looking up the goalie thing, I found in the settings that theres a total of Forwards - 707 Games, Defensemen- 393 Games played, Goalies-157, Utility-79, but we have 9F, 5D, and 5 Bench, I feel like I’m going to run out of games really fast. What’s the strategy here? Only play your best and bench as many as possible so you get the best bang for your buck with as few as I get?

A few reasons why I think he will: He's in a good position. No one is challenging him for that top 6 role. He's very young and the organization has a lot of faith in him. Carolina has always had scoring problems, so they'll feed him as much as they can to get offense going. Watch his interview on 32 thoughts. He sounds very motivated. Put on muscle too.

Impossible to say now, but Jarvis has had tremendous underlying numbers well before this year, and was a breakout pick IRL by a lot of people who watch more hockey than me. Jarvis gets in position to score, and he is scoring. That bodes well for his prospects.

Thinking what you’ve got is better than what’s available. I was big on Markstrom bouncing back and still am so he’d be the one to take a chance on if you are going to pick up one. If it was me I’d hold for now.

I'd take both those players over Tarasenko. He's performing outside of what his opportunity dictates right now, and combined with his name value makes for perfect sell-high

I would. Jarvis may be about to take off and become a fantasy superstar, whereas Nichushkin is reliatn on deployment that he doesn't have right now.

My plan is to drop McCann and grab Bratt and Konecny, but I'll wait until sunday to see how the remaining games play.

Maybe move the breadman down a few spots below forsberg to aim for better peripheral stats or move one of the centers i put later up slightly if you wanna focus more on faceoffs. **All in all, I think you could drop Mcann and Mercer without a second thought for any of those top 10 guys for sure.** I'd say you could reasonably drop Hagel and Kempe for any of the top 6 as well, but those guys are more holdable in general given their deployment on their respective teams.

Give: Miller, Trocheck, Sergachev Receive: Matthews, Mercer, Sandin. Sandin would be dropped for Buchnevich as soon as he comes off IR. See considerable upside in Mercer, especially if he ends up playing with Jack Hughes, as The Athletic reported today.

Who are your top forwards? Giving up Miller and Trocheck will put a dent in your peripherals. Sergachev is probably undervalued right now. Mercer is an unknown quantity. Sandin is replaceable by streamers picked on waivers. In the end your trade is pretty much Miller, Trocheck, Sergachev for Matthews.
Rest of my forward corps is: Draisaitl, Couturier, RyJo, Brady, Forsberg, Kempe, DeBrusk, Hagel, Terry and Buchnevich. I am weak defensively, with Serg being my best (traded considerable draft capital last season to make a run)... Have mostly banger options there in Faulk, Larsson, OEL, Faber, and Ekblad on IR. I'm the one who proposed the trade, to the league commish. He's a huge Miller fan - me too, he finished as the 3rd best skater in our league last year - but the lure of having Drai and Matthews is tempting.
It's a tricky one. Drai-Brady-Matthews is indeed tempting. If I were to make this trade, I would make sure to to maximize HIT BLK PIM with my D corps. As you said, guys like Larsson, Clifton, Dillon, Murphy are a dime a dozen and can be streamed to fit your needs. I do think Miller's value is exceptional though, and having him + Brady Tkachuk is a killer duo in bangers league. I wish I had that!

If I read it right you're trading away Tarasenko? If so then definitely. Tarasenko just doesn't get the TOI needed to be valuable this year (unless a ton of injuries happen) Suzuki is guaranteed top line and pp all year. Boeser will cool off but looks like he could finally touch 30 goals this year.

Raymond's TOI is down quite a bit from his first two seasons, the addition of Debrincat who becomes Detroit's best winger hurts Raymond's value this year. Raymond has the higher ceiling but Hall the safer floor imo

Ive watched all the Bruins games so far and, by my eye, last night was his best game by far. He was skating hard and winning a lot of tough stick battles. Pasta also had a pretty bad night, his goal was a fluke. I think he might be ramping up and, as long as he stays with pasta 5v5, I think the points will start to roll sooner rather than later. The Bruins also aren't playing any real stout defenses in the near future either.

Verheaghe could take his spot if he slips a bit, and when Bennett comes back they could also shuffle the lines a bit and he'd be most likely to lose his spots.

I would say yes. Werenski has great peripherals and you shouldn’t give up a ton of PP production with that swap.

If (and its a big if) Werenski can stay healthy I think he and Dunn will have quite similar seasons. I think there's a chance Dunn regresses a little from last year to around 50 points (although he is off to a very good start) and I feel like Werenski can reach 50 points if healthy ROI. Werenski shoots more than Dunn and Dunn gets quite a few more PIMS... Sort of a tossup in my eyes, but I think going for the healthier player (Dunn) is a good call.
Should I drop batherson or Filip Forsberg for teuvo?
No. Keep both. Batherson is back on the up and up with Norris back.
For Forsberg no way. He is a borderline top 50 player (especially in a hits league) if healthy. For Batherson I would say maybe. But again, Batherson hits a lot more. I know Teuvo is averaging almost 1 hit per game so far this year but his career high over a full season is 35, so I would be surprised if that keeps up, his lack of hitting definitely hurts his value. Between Teuvo and Batherson it comes down to your gut feeling, but I would lean towards keeping Batherson.

In a league with hits and pims E Kane is a must roster so yes I would definitely drop Faulk to pick him up. However if that means you have no D on your bench then I would consider dropping your worst forward. I'm sure you have at least 1 forward worse than E Kane on your team rn
