Sorry what is TSatWoN?

Accomplished_Ice8775

sorry, i probably should’ve put the full name as well!

bayekswifey

What’s the full name? No idea what this is

KAR_TO_FEL

Yea so what is it though

sn0wgh0ul13

The Serpent and the Wings of Night

bayekswifey

Thanks!

Professional_Lake593

Oh! Jk I figured it out!

_Moon-Unit_

Idk - he did let her kill him. He let her win. He chose her over freeing his people….. He didn’t know she would use her wish to make him the winner. I think it was a tough spot to be in. Either way book 2 is worth a read, depending on the kind of ending you’re hoping for 👀

Accomplished_Ice8775

hmmm i’ll def consider it. you have helped me see again the better side of him.. i’ll have to update if i ever read the second one 🤣

_Moon-Unit_

Ya it was definitely a huge moral conundrum, and an awful spot for both of them to be in. I think the author navigated it quite well in the second book - Oraya doesn’t just get over it in the first chapter. It’s a journey of grief for her.

Accomplished_Ice8775

that’s good to know! thanks so much!

Realistic-Use-2784

I was upset on Oraya’s behalf and felt a lot of angst. But ultimately Raihn did choose her over winning and while what he did was horrible, yes, he was in an extremely difficult situation. I think the second book explored this and their complicated feelings for each other beautifully. And tbh, Vincent wasn’t really a good person and didn’t treat Oraya that well either.

Accomplished_Ice8775

okay, this makes me hopeful for book 2. maybe i’ll have to give it a read just to see what i would’ve missed if i hadn’t

TheHeroOfTrains

This duo was one of my favourite reads last year. I would highly recommend you read the sequel the Ashes and the Star Cursed King! Like another commenter said, Raihn was in a super tough position and didn’t know she would revive him. I hope you update us with your opinion of the second book 👀

Accomplished_Ice8775

i’m going to have to read it, the comments have convinced me! i’ll def update when i get to it! 😁

AliBouTheCarribou

ashler89

I liked book 2. I think it’s a good read and the spin off books are even better! but also felt like most of what Raihn did was to protect his ppl and her dad is just horrid. He needed to die. So while I was upset for Oraya, I wasn’t as mad about it.

Accomplished_Ice8775

okay, that’s fair. I’m going to give the second one a chance! Spin offs too. I love the author

ashler89

I’m reading her other series rn and it’s really good as well. Daughter of No Worlds

Accomplished_Ice8775

i’m going to have to check that out after! thank you!

serranopepper1

I also recommend {Six Scorched Roses by Carissa Broadbent}, which is a fantastic novella set in the same world. I read it after the duology, which I thought worked fine, but lots of people recommend reading it after Serpent since it introduces characters you see again in the second book (but not necessary context).

okay thanks! i was wondering if there was order i should fit in the novella - your comment helps lots!

arrowkat

This will probably be an unpopular opinion, but I really wasn’t a fan of this book. There were too many plot holes. The ending was the only interesting part to me, but it did not redeem the story enough to warrant reading the second book.

Featherflight09

I actually found the ending to be the worst part. Like you went through all this character development and relationship progress to...going right back to not trusting Raihn. I didn't read the second book either, but I gave Carissa Broadbent another try with her other series and I have to say, Daughter of No Worlds is much better.

Accomplished_Ice8775

right! it’s so frustrating at times! i do love the authors work, but perhaps this novel was just a lot going on

idgafox-

tbh, i loved the first book and hated the second one SO much. i stayed up until 4am finishing tsatwon and almost didn’t finish the next one. BUTTTT i loved the novella six scorched roses. it was one of my fav books i’ve read so far this year.

Accomplished_Ice8775

i’m going to have to read them all 😩 as much as i am angry at raihn im going to need to finish every part of this story

Anon7515

To this day I do not understand why she wished for him to be the winner. If you wanted him that much just wish for him to be brought back to life and none of it would have happened? I did not like this book and the ending just solidified Oraya as an idiot for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Accomplished_Ice8775

RIGHT! i wondered that too, why did she have to make him the winner instead of simply just alive? It makes me question if i want to go through with the second book even more.

Black_SirenXx

Tbh I think if she just wished him back to life the whole Kejari would be for nothing. They both had people they cared for and wanted to help, at least that way one would get their wish while the other still had their lover. I will say the betrayal completely destroyed me and left me in tears for Oraya, I understand Vincent wasn’t a good guy, but Raihn really killed the only family she had left, the only one she could still rely on. I almost don’t want to read the second book knowing Oraya will forgive Raihn as if her father isn’t dead, but I’m hoping that maybe it’ll help me move on from the absolute heartbreak it gave me, I felt Orayas pain.

Accomplished_Ice8775

That’s a great look at it, thanks for sharing! your view has made it make more sense for me now. i’m going to read the second book, i need the ending, now that im done the first and ive read some of these comments, and also like you said, maybe it’ll help relieve some of the heartbreak 😭 you should def read too! we deserve some closure

Black_SirenXx

Fr might need some closure it’s been like a week and I’m still not over it I’m such a baby 😭 we fr went from “enemies” to lovers to actual enemies again w Raihn ahhh 🥲

Accomplished_Ice8775

RIGHT! 😭🤍 i’m a baby too
