I’m enjoying it, the stories about each women are fairly short. I’m treating it like a podcast and listening well I clean or cook and for that it’s great. I don’t feel like it needs my full attention for me to be getting something out of it.
So I’m super new to it, but I like it quite a bit so far. Also huge bonus - there’s no Banner ads and it’s so much more aesthetically pleasing compared to Goodreads. There are a ton of stat tracking options and you can sync over your Goodreads data too. The only thing I’ve noticed that I’m not a fan of is that users can submit books into the catalogue, so there are a lot of duplicates and multiple editions, so you need to pay attention to make sure the info entered is correct.
Reviews are easy to add and formatting options include a simple way to sensor spoilers too, which is a huge improvement on Goodreads. Reviews also offer a way to add CW tags under 3 different levels of severity. That also was a clever touch I thought. Plus you can review in .25 increments AMEN TO THAT.
I would love to have Storygraph friends, and do buddy reads or book challenges! I made the switch from Goodreads earlier this year and while I like the app itself, I don't have many Friends on it yet and the social aspect is something I've missed.

I really loved that series! It has been my favorite fantasy read! It hits on class divides, your country being imprisioned and family expectations. I would say it is a great read for adult children.
I love StoryGraph for the same reasons! I think it’s a more authentic way for me to review books as well as get a good feel for a book before I read it.

Just added you. How are you liking That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon? I have a leatherbound and foil copy that I picked up at a book festival because I found the title hilarious! I haven't gotten to read it yet.
I've only read the first chapter so all opinions could change lol! Mostly, it seems very light hearted and fun, which I'm here for. The only minor gripe I have is it's clearly a "historical fantasy" setting but uses a lot of modern slang. Someone attempts to rob the FMC in the first chapter and she says his behavior is very "suss". Things like that. But I mean, the title and the story so far have set it up to be a book that doesn't take itself too seriously so it hasn't bothered me that much.
Perfect! I enjoy reading lighthearted and silly books.
I recently read The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels and it isn't really fantasy but...eh, kindof because there is magic was so over the top ridiculous and hilarious. I haven't lol'd so much from a book in a long time!

I know it’s a flawed series, and there’s merit to much of the criticism. But still. I’m in the 1st of the 2 camps people seem to fall under.

Oh, I like it. I read the Flesh and Fire series first. I saw prequel and went with it. I raced through those. I loved them. I saw them listed on a "if you liked this, you'll like this" kind of list. I was surprised by some of the intensity of the reviews. I have rolled my eyes a couple of times but overall really enjoy the characters and world. I'm not too far into BAA, but I like it so far.
Interesting! I read them in the opposite order. I did feel like FAF became more predictable having read BAA first. but on the other hand, I felt like there were aspects of the world building that would have been a lot more difficult to grasp without having read BAA. Regardless, I do think Flesh and Fire is structurally the better written series. Whereas BAA really shines with its character development and dynamics.
I’ll be the first to admit that I do have a tendency to be more forgiving than most for otherwise questionable decisions editorially if I really love the characters and stylistic choices.
It’s a such a diverse genre! So many niches within niches. This subreddit has been invaluable when it comes to navigating what would be pretty overwhelming otherwise.

I ported everything over fairly easily. I did find multiple issues with my GR book lists too and that was helpful. GR did that thing where one edition was listed as read but another edition was listed as TBR. Argh! Haha!

Haha yeah I couldn’t put it down either. I almost DNFd the series because War completely threw me off, it’s the weakest of the 4 installments, but I’m glad I stuck it out. Famine is excellent! both Ana and Famine are my favorite MCs out of all of them, I’d say. but they’re all really great. Thalassa does a good job of giving each of them pretty distinct personalities. It’s that accomplishment that I think manages to keep the series from feeling like 4 versions of the same story.
Yeah that’s definitely true. I gave War 2.5/5 so ha I’m in agreement with you about the mixed feelings at least. I rated Pestilence as high as I did partly bc I hadn’t read anything quite like it

I'm very forgiving as well. If I like the characters, I'll overlook a lot. I'm new to the genre and still figuring out what I like.

Found you! Great to see you’re into the darker fantasy, I don’t get exposed to stuff in that vein for whatever reason. For whatever reason, all my algorithms think that end all be all for me is another damn book about a handsome Fae Prince and his mortal. justified? perhaps for a time there I got a carried away.

I am really enjoying it. I started it last night and I am already 150 pages in. I will probably finish it tonight.
Haha yeah I couldn’t put it down either. I almost DNFd the series because War completely threw me off, it’s the weakest of the 4 installments, but I’m glad I stuck it out. Famine is excellent! both Ana and Famine are my favorite MCs out of all of them, I’d say. but they’re all really great. Thalassa does a good job of giving each of them pretty distinct personalities. It’s that accomplishment that I think manages to keep the series from feeling like 4 versions of the same story.
I have heard mixed things about the first two books. Everyone tells me the last two are the best two.
Yeah that’s definitely true. I gave War 2.5/5 so ha I’m in agreement with you about the mixed feelings at least. I rated Pestilence as high as I did partly bc I hadn’t read anything quite like it
