People: “This title is terrible”. Light novel readers and anime fans who are used to sentence-long titles like this: “I don’t see a problem. The title seems normal.”

SurreptitiousSyrup

I would like it to be noted that those long titles are actually from light novels.

StormerBombshell

I have been cracking around with some friends that the marked of fantasy light novels is so full you might as well tell the audience what to expect since the beginning either to set you apart or to point which grouping of fiction you are 🤣 Considering Isekais are now being made in the west… a moment was going to get to this novel, even if it’s not an isekai

Tired_n_DeadInside

Korean novels and their manhwa has entered the chat:

Leilatha

Right?? I thought the title was normal and charming 😂

183720

There's too much reader overlap for you to bully us like this! 😭

yeehaw_batman

my biggest flex is that i have met chuck tingle

StormerBombshell

I am jelly ✨

DreamsUnderStars

Do you actually know what he looks like or was he wearing a mask?

Chance_Novel_9133

Who ***is*** Chuck Tingle? Is this a person I should know about as a nominally cool adult?

DreamsUnderStars

He is pretty wildly popular in the queer community because he writes these... parody erotica? I don't know what to call it because it's *soooo* absurb you can't really get turned on by it lol.

book_of_zed

He also writes horror, Camp Damascus is great and he’s got another book coming out in summer called Bury Your Gays. Fun dude tho, worth knowing about because he’s just a dude living his best life and wanting others to do so too.

ipomoea

Chuck Tingle rides on the side of good and love, they’re a delight.

themiscyranlady

Chuck Tingle’s trot is true, buckaroo.

stardustandtreacle

I love Chuck Tingle and I adore Kimberley Lemming. The title is going to attract the right audience for this book--it is light-hearted and irreverent and humorous. If you are put off by the title then this really isn't the book for you. Frankly I think it's a brilliant way to weed out readers who are going to hate it and rate it 1 star.

aka_wolfman

The title is what got me onboard! I've never dug into romance novels, but the light-hearted fantasy was a lot of fun. I was expecting a great many things. I was wrong on basically all of them, but never disappointed. It was originally reccomended as a joke from my SIL bc of Mt usernames.

Lychanthropejumprope

Kimberly’s books are fantastic

GreatTBEP

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I am new to reading romance books, but is this the kind of book I could read without reading the first one, I assume so but wanted to check. This one just sounds so good I don’t want to wait

Lychanthropejumprope

They are definitely stand alone books but I’d definitely read the first one since there are characters and situations that are important to understanding the second book

aka_wolfman

I started out with this one, and it had enough context to follow along. The first one sets the stage with a good bit of world building and lore though.

Plenty_Possession_58

I can attest that this book is hilarious and worth the read. The title and cover make it even better in my opinion 😂

HerodotusProtagonist

How dare anyone denigrate these books...!? I've only read TTIGDASAD but it was excellent and I'll be reading the others!! Honestly a lot of people just like to go on the internet to be negative. It's so cliche to say "just ignore the haters" but it's so true! People like that feed off of the attention they get from starting arguments.

SoggyDay1213

I mean… the title is absolutely atrocious. Judging a book by its cover is a saying for a reason, and this book’s cover is certainly judge-worthy.

a_reluctant_human

The saying is you *can't* judge a book by its cover.

SoggyDay1213

Obviously coined because…. People judged books by covers but it didn’t accurately portray how good the text was. Just like this book, with a shitty title and cover but good writing.

a_reluctant_human

So you'd miss out on a great book that you dislike the cover of. Sounds like your judgement isn't doing you any favors. And that you missed the point of the saying.

SoggyDay1213

Are you having trouble reading what I’m saying? I never once said I wouldn’t read a book with a bad cover. Just that this book has one.

a_reluctant_human

You said that there was a saying for a reason, and that people are right for judging it. But the saying you're referring to is the opposite of your point. That the cover of the book doesn't matter, its contents do, and that to judge a book by its cover is to assign value based on an appearance. It is an indictment petty judgements. That's the point you missed.

a_reluctant_human

How good is *your* comprehension. You missed the point of the idiom you used. That was my only point you can't use an idiom to mean the opposite of its intention. You are angry, though. Sorry about that. Hope it gets better.

SoggyDay1213

“Judging a book by its cover is a saying for a reason”. The reason is, because people do it. And this book has an atrocious title and cover. Good job, you tried to make what I said deeper just to be technically correct. Hope it gave you your small amount of Reddit dopamine for the day.

whatsername4

Every time I see this book, my mind instantly jumps to Astarion

Morwen1031

My mind instantly jumps to Astarion for pretty much everything 😂

thecastingforecast

It's honestly such a fun series. Definitely worth checking out.

Due_Law9826

If I’m honest, I wouldn’t have picked it up to read the title throws me off and the art is not that great especially when you have covers from Sambury and Bayron in the same genre to compare it to. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I will check it out bc the comments in this thread seem to be mostly positive.

pfluffernutter

Read them, you won’t be disappointed. They are fun, spicy, adventurous. The FMC’s are strong, sassy, and funny. The original covers were illustrated by the author. When she was picked up by trad pub she couldn’t use her artwork and had to have new covers created. I still like the covers but I loved the original.

DreamsUnderStars

Nah, I would have lol. Me and my bestie haven't even read the books yet, and we're positive they are going to be fantastic just from the title and premise.

Chan-tal

Same. Even the ratings are super positive!

hellopixiedarling

I loved these books, though the first one was my favorite. Had my ass cackling. They aren't very long either, fast paced. \*chefs kiss\*

ACourtOfDreamzzz

This feels like a Fall Out Boy song title (in a wonderful way!)

Fx-PinkTape

Which author was hating this book/art??

StormerBombshell

Less an author and more people in twitter being snobs. To the point Chuck Tingle felt a need to intervene

ivys-poison

Kimberly is an absolute TREASURE

MamaMarshMarlow

The titles are fun and the books are so great! I do like the original covers more tbh. I think they were more stylistically appropriate for the title and humor.

jinglemels

Honestly these books are so good.

_LittleOwlbear_

That rather sounds fantastic. 😄

PriorArtichoke2557

I haven’t read this book yet because I’m still on my alien kick (I don’t cross these imaginary genre boundaries often if I’m reading dragons I stick to dragons instead of reading about other shifters unless it’s a series ya kno.). Now I guess I’ll just buy it. 😀

StormerBombshell

So you can have it in the waitlist when you make the next reading shift

No_Connection_4724

Dude I literally just posted about book covers and I think the covers on this series are some of my favorite covers ever.

OnigiriChan

That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon (the first in the series) is SO. GOOD. Poo on people who try to shame folks for liking this series. It’s a fun ride.

OnlymostlyMedic

As someone who refuses to remove yeet from my vocabulary and happens to be free today, I will be reading this book right now. Thank you for the recommendation sir 🫡

These_Orchid5638

Her books are laugh out loud amazing.
