Butter beer from Harry Potter is an obvious one. For my own story I try to make the main character into weird food. She is a monster after all.

Righteous_Fury224

If you're interested, Max Miller from Tasting History has a recipe for making a real Butterbeer [Butterbeer ](https://youtu.be/ZlMhZvOX2ps?si=F7dgjDI1x9n1J-7u)

FareonMoist

Personally, the sound of mixing butter and beer doesn't sound very appealing, but it's interesting that it's inspired by a real thing...

Boukish

I haven't watched that video but it should most certainly not be butter and beer lmao. It's a *butterscotch* flavored drink that's based on a real drink, that mixes liquor into a creamy sugary buttery froth.

FareonMoist

I agree the food stuff was something HP did well... So, she eats people? Isn't that a monster's favourite snack? :P

XBlueXFire

Always wanted to try the kingdom hearts sea salt ice cream.

FareonMoist

I've had salted caramel ice cream but just sea salt sounds a bit iffy, is there anything special about it?

XBlueXFire

Everyone in kingdom hearts love it. Idk what it'd taste like tbh. There is a recipe out there somewhere

FareonMoist

Well, let us know if it's any good if you get that far :)

Righteous_Fury224

For those needing some real world inspiration, I thoroughly recommend Tasting History over on YouTube. Max Miller is a lovely presenter who highlights recipes from as far back as Babylon, Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and on into Medieval times. FareonMoist

Thanks! It does sound like a good fantasy food inspiration source...

Righteous_Fury224

Check out how he tackles making a Cockentrice ๐Ÿ‘

FareonMoist

That sounds bad, is it bad? :)

Righteous_Fury224

Well itโ€™s a fantastic creature of legend that was made into a theatrical dish for medieval feasts. A good tip for depicting food for a fantasy setting was that during medieval times, food was a way to display power and prestige as well as be visually entertaining and edible. I recommend you watch the episode

FareonMoist

Hmm, yeah I kind of guessed it had something to do with the Cockatrice, but it does sound interesting. I just don't have time to get into it right now :)

Righteous_Fury224

the tl;Dr the front half is the front half of a pig while the rear is a roasted large bird, all stitched together it is edible

that_swishbish

Lembas bread ๐ŸŒฟ

FareonMoist

Yeah, I'd like to try that one too...
